We have classified the 4 complaints from 2001 Toyota Sequoia about PARKING BRAKE into the following categories.
Warning lights for vehicle skid control, anti-lock brakes and parking brake are consistently on reporting a failure. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 toyota sequoia. while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed rust under it towards the rear. a few years later, while having the vehicle serviced, the contact was informed that the undercarriage was severely rusted. she was also told that the parking brake lever fractured and there was an unknown pipe leaking from under the vehicle. the leaking pipe was repaired but the severe rusting and fractured hand brake were not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 40,000 and the current mileage was approximately 75,000.
Tracking control and emergency brake lights stay on all the time. have had the problem fixed twice, but within a week or 2, the lights come back on and stay on incessantly. toyota service center says "there is nothing they can do about it", so i have lived with it for 4+ years now. the brakes shake the entire vehicle when applied, they feel warped or bumpy. again, "there is nothing they can do about it".
Parking brake needs constant adjustment to be effective. the parking brake is completely unusable after less than 2,000 miles after an adjustment. i have asked toyota about this several times, but have never received an effective solution or answer to the problem. since i very rarely use my parking brake, it is very easy to not know that it does not work. *tr
Brake problem presented itself by the vehicle vibrating when braking from high speed. all brakes required servicing and then replacement. emergency brake required adjusting three times within 20,000 miles. when only one window is open at speeds greater than 30 mph, causes severe pressure vibrations inside the vehicle interior. pressure vibrations extremely distracting and annoying.*ak
