Upon starting the vehicle it makes a high-pitched beep, followed by a buzzing sound that repeats every five to eight seconds. the dashboard displays the tps, abs, vsc, and brake lights. when putting the vehicle in drive, the high-pitch sound returns for one to two minutes. during that time the brake pedal becomes impossible to depress. if the engaged, the vehicle does not stop until the brake pressure returns. once the sound stops, the brake pressure returns to normal. diagnosis from toyota shows: code c1256 = accumulator low pressure. code c1391 abnormal leak of accumulator pressure. estimate for repairs = $2,811.72. at present the vehicle is unsafe to operate as toyota advised, in the vehicle's current condition the brake system could fail at any time.
Traction control, abs and brake lights came on today and brake pressure dropped severely while driving on the highway. not safe to drive.
Attempting to travel in my 2013 prius five during xmas was driving and approaching a red and while trying to stop pedal went directly to floor and skid light went on and barely avoided what should be an easy stop!! weather clear felt a drag and no coasting ability... car has 21,000 miles and is in perfect appearance but far from in peak condition as this car from brand new had issues i got tired waiting for toyota to fix. cruise control, brakes, bluetooth, engine wrapping sounds on startup, i am told the brake issue since new is now a 3,000+ repair and since it showed no code at dealer i would have to pay! merry xmas toyota! what is nhtsa waiting for??? i am shocked at both for inaction so i will make some call to my elected officials this has to be fixed. toyota is becoming gm who would have figured?? my other prius issues matter less when brakes don't stop you reasonably and the repair is over 3,000 on a car with 21,000 well cared for miles...
Brake/abs and stability system failure. possible actuator or accumulator. touota knows there is a fault and hides behind a software update. system fails and causes unreliable braking with increased force to apply the brakes. brakes apply so hard at times the rear passengers heads hit the rear seat.
My car has been having this issue with braking and dashboard lights with 'brakes, abs, vsc. have taken it to the dealer and have spent thousands of dollars already. replaced the brake system (pads, drums, etc..), catalytic converter, hybrid battery. every time i drive out out of the dealer 'all is good' as codes were cleared but a few months after, the lights are on again. these issues have cause are causing my car to be acting up while driving and trying to break at stop signs and crossing lights by delaying to stop on time. this is a safety issue and needs to be addressed by toyota in assisting us with repairs. unless they'll wait for a tragedy before doing something about it. have called the dealer and they always say 'it could this' or 'it could be that'. so far the repairs they have done is supposed to fix the current issue with breaks, lights on the dashboard but now abs can be related to the actuator and that will cost me around $3,000! which i cannot afford anymore. my car is paid for and i've spent almost $7,000 in 'repairs' and of ...
The prius vehicles covered only by warranty enhancement zjb are suffering the same dangers from brake booster pump failures as those toyota covered safety recalls d0h and k0l. by excluding prius with defective brakes from d0h and k0l, toyota has left the owners to helplessly experience life-threatening brake failures or malfunctions before toyota will provide the replacement brake components needed to make the car safe. the law requires toyota to prevent the life-threatening dangers of this defect before brake failure occurs. toyota's cost-cutting strategy is causing crashes. injuries and crashes caused by the brake defect explained herein have been reported to nhtsa. toyota's decision to provide post-failure repair reimbursement - instead of a preventative safety recall remedy - explains many of the crashes and injuries reported to nhtsa. here is a list of relevant complaints from safercar.gov: 10794873,10875685,10876015,10927047,11231660,11219354,11014878,11151142,10680404,10627821,11154835,10983408,10704553,10734278,11173353,11064519,10971881,11186947,10923921,10573591,11243249,10819439,10592400,10919990, 10851950,10855586,11240240,11197067,11193820,11173721,11156466,11144698, 11235210,10550179,11253950,11102264,11044156,11253725,10616134,10875625, 11231596,10584723,11207636,10749388,11014797,11203834,11203591,11193354, 11182610,11155778,11130742,11129946,11164336,10498096,11219901,11154783, 10598545,11228248,10547701,11110691,11164990,11222966,11207630,11192342, 11184751,11183661,11183178,11173804,11173173,11173044,11162242,11144888, 11139660,11121916,11088447,11080403,11061959,10984549,11073636, 11034572, 10870866,10929397,11104163 when the brake booster pump assembly fails in a prius vehicle excluded from d0h, c1256, c1253, c1252, c1391, u0293, and other dtcs indicating dangers and fmvss noncompliance are being stored. *tr
My 2011 prius very recently has started making audibly noise while pressing the brake pedal, whether in motion or stopped. this noise contains continuous whirring, whining and loud clicking noise. these noises where not seen before completely. i spoke to dealer mentioning a tsb pertaining to this particular issue in specific and was told nothing can be done until it fails completely, which is bad, as i have a family of 3 and god forbid if this were to happen while driving on freeway, a serious safety hazard and toyota dealer (rudy luther) response is irresponsible. i am actually worried more now on waiting for the brakes to fail. this loud continuous clicking noises occurs the moment car is turned on and the noises lingers on for short while after the car is turned off, at moments i have to press on the brakes really harder than usual to get the car slowed and is a tremendous panicky situation. i am registering and requesting for this to be looked immediately before any catastrophe.
Even though the breaks seem fine, the electric break system does work at all. all lights are on and the breaks pedals feels loose. when i push the breaks the vehicle keeps going. the abs warning light is on as well as all the other lights regarding to breaks and stability mechanisms.
Brake light, antilock light, vehicle stability light, and yellow trains came on. having problem with braking. does not not seem to brake as good. it is very dangerous when driving.
Second generation toyota prius (model years 04-09, an estimated 669,700 vehicles, toyota highlander 06 ~66,200 vehicles (and lexus models~196,000 vehicles) have a known defective brake power booster known as brake actuator assembly. toyota published tsb 0032-16. the brakes fail. toyota denied to remove the known faulty part in 2016 because the part had not established symptoms yet and vehicle was over 175,000 miles. 5/24/2019 while in motion on interstate 77, the yellow anti-lock brake system abs, the electronic variable speed control vsc (traction) , the electronic controlled brake alert lamps illuminate. the hybrid propulsion system fails because the power brakes do not regenerate electricity to charge the hybrid battery fuel cells. turning the hybrid vehicle into a plain gas powered vehicle with faulty brakes. the power brake system creates a thumping vibration sound due to the pressure inside the actuator is not retaining/holding pressure. i asked local o'reily's to scan vehicle, reading codes brake actuator failure. reported to toyota dealership 5/30/2019 with yellow warning lamps engaged and with knowledge of codes. charged $150.09 to verify codes that i retrieved in 3 minutes and estimate $2938.47 to replace known faulty part. i contacted toyota national -1906030924.toyota needs to own this recall. ...
