We own a 2006 toyota prius. the car was purchased new,has been dealer maintained and is our primary vehicle. on january 26, 2010 at 2:05 pm my wife...
Car in two accidents over two years body was not properly welded back to the frame! brakes were not properly realigned neither was the steering column...
Yesterday (april 27, 2008), i put my prius in park and stepped out of the car, the car was put into reverse and i was hit by my own car. at the same...
Our daughter was driving our 2007 toyota prius to work in the dark in rush hour on the highway, driving straight, at highway speed, in los angeles, and the instrument panel instantly blacked out, with the car completely dead and halted. it could not even be shifted into neutral! the car stopped right in the middle of the highway. she called 911, and a wrecker was dispatched to lift the car off the freeway. thankfully she was not injured or killed! i then researched the likely cause and diagnosed it exactly. it was the "hybrid water pump" also known as the "inverter pump," part #g9020-47031. that part was recalled in 2012, nhtsa recall # 12v536000. i had it towed to a nearby toyota dealer, north hollywood toyota, to have it repaired. that dealer looked up the vehicle's records and said the recall had been performed in 2013. was it really? if so, then a recalled part that causes a complete, instant blackout on a prius already failed again. the receipt for the repair is attached, including the nhtsa recalled part #. the repair ...
Vehicle was in motion traveling about 50 mph when an effort was made to pass another vehicle on a 2 lane road, the vehicle lost power while we were passing, we barely got back into our lane and just barely avoided a head on collision. then the vehicle slowed to about 15 mph and limped to a stop a mile later. we could have died.
I entered my parked, stationary prius, pressed my right foot on the brake pedal, disengaged the parking brake and pressed the on/off button to turn the car on. my foot remained on the brake pedal. the engine immediately raced and the car began to accelerate at high speed. i stomped on the brake pedal and the car kept moving. the sound of the engine was loud enough that people in nearby houses heard it. my car would not slow with my efforts to brake. i tried to shift into neutral and park but the car did not slow down. it raced across the street and plowed directly into a neighbor's stone wall. my car became wedged between the wall and a large tree. i had to exit the vehicle from the passenger side as the driver's door was pressed against the tree. after the collision, interior lights were non-functioning even when the door was propped open. the car would have crashed through the house if it had not been stopped by the wall and tree.
When i was making a right turn i heard a loud "boom" sound and had to grab my steering wheel hard so i wouldnt drift onto the other lane because my car was shaking and skidding then right after my car emergency dash lights came on and told me system failure park your car immidently keep in mind while this was happening my car only went up to twenty miles per hour with my car making a loud sound as if i was going 80 mph it sounded like i was speeding when i was only going about twenty miles per hour.
When i drive over any type of bump, (pothole, speed bump, etc) and my foot is on the brake....the car will suddenly speed-up instead of slow down. very dangerous situation and it happens every time.
My toyota prius loses power randomly after having the recall fix j0v completed updating the software in inverter. vehicle stalled 3 times on freeway, highway and off ramp. dash board lights light up with all warning lights. vehicle loses power....can drive a mile or so with almost no power...then vehicle shuts down. dash panel reads check hybrid system conditions are exactly the same as the ze3 warranty enhancement program describes. however the dtc code is slightly different so dealer and toyota will not fix inverter. the car is dangerous to drive as the symptoms appear randomly, usually after an acceleration of the vehicle puts load on engine. pls help me
Soon after getting a recall software update for the hybrid system, the car displayed hybrid system check message and lost power. car had to be towed. created an extremely dangerous situation due to nature of problem while driving on the road and had to pull over right away.
Vehicle jerked violently and had loss of power on highway at speed of 65mph going straight. toyota evaluated and determined the inverter was burnt due to overheating causing hybrid system to fail. toyota stated was not covered by vin for existing recall.
When breaking and still moving, the car will accelerate momentarily resulting in going faster for a second or two. this happened randomly over the years and may in some instances be related to hitting an irregularity in the road, but i cannot be sure. it has not caused an accident, but is strong enough that it could. i'm a pretty safe driver so tend not to ride on the tail of the car in front of me. i have not kept track of when it happens.
Went in to have the spark plugs and 2 coils(cylinders 1 & 2) started shaking, knocking and smoking at the time i picked it up. check engine light is on and hasn't gone off. the mechanic i take the vehicle to says it is a problem with this model car, trying to determine this, since he stated it is now my head gasket that needs replacing.
