Problems with 2010 Toyota Camry UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2010 Toyota Camry starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 66 520 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2010 Toyota Camry

In state of ohio they ise this site to determine if your car is gasoline power, electric l, or hybrid. and supposedly they say your company has my car listed as hybrid for a 2010. and my car is actually gasoline v6 xle. what kind of proof do i need to show besides pictures of my engine or a letter from a well know dealership?

The dashboard is breaking down and has become very sticky. this causes glare when driving at night that is a safety issue. i called toyota about it on 9/14/209, but they said their 'warrant enhancement' expired on 8/13/2019. toyota said that they sent a letter in 2016, which i never received. i had my car serviced at a toyota deal (jack taylor toyota, alexandria va), and they never notified me of the 'warranty enhancement.' they said that they only had to notify for recall safety issues. they said that they could replace it for @2,171.46 this is a safety issue and this should be a recall, not just a 'warranty enhancement.' toyota's methods to notify are inadequate and this problem is ongoing - me and many others will have this safety problem beyond toyota's warrant period. especially since they do such a poor job of customer notification. this causes a lot of road glare at night and will cause accidents and deaths. toyota is obviously not doing the right thing on their own. i hope the ntsb can please advance a recall for this issue.

The dashboard on my 2010 camry has degraded over time, becoming sticky and shiny. it is now affecting visibility due to the reflection in the windshield, causing unsafe driving conditions in sunny weather. the dealership says that my model is not included in an earlier recall regarding this issue.

Sun visors have defective part and fail to go all the way against windshield and eventually the part breaks and visor is unable to be properly put up (against the roof of car) and out of the way when not in use. visor hangs in field of vision while driving and is particularly dangerous at night or when it is raining, obstructing view ahead and cannot see traffic signals. toyota evidently issued a service bulletin/ warranty extension wherein they would repair for seven years from original date of purchase for 2007-2011 vehicles. this has been extremely unsafe. had there been a recall issued, i would have known about this issue when i purchased my vehicle in 2015, yet service bulletins are not required to be published and well-known. this has created an obstruction to my field of vision when driving and has created some hazardous conditions. would a recall have been issued, i would still be within the time period before the recall expired. this happened after i drove to work one day, parked and when i came out at lunch, unhooked the visor and tried to use it. i was probably stationary but could have been moving at a low rate of speed.

Dashboard sticky and surface deteriorating especially since housed in 80-90 westher; customer unable to correct problem. becoming a safety issue and a gross devaluation of asset.

The safety my family's health is in peril in my opinion because the car is emanating a very strong mold like odor causing us headaches and sore throats even on trips under 5 minutes. on reviewing numerous internet articles about this, it appears that toyota may not be seriously addressing the problem. i do not know at this time what mechanical defect is in play.

Dash is sticky and crumbling and getting worse

The rear windshield is tinted. it has deteriorated so much that i can not see through it while in drivers seat. it is extremely blurry and translucent. at night time it is all streaked light reflections. this condition is a severe safety hazard. the tint film has bubbled. noticed it happen last year but now it has become worst.

The sun visors breaks and will not stay up creating a floppy sun visor in the down position which is a safety issue especially when it is the driver's sun visor. i have read this is a problem with thousands of camries and it is not a recall and toyota will not fix unless your organization makes it mandatory

The dashboard is melting and it creates a reflection that blocks the view of drivers.

Melting toyota camry 2010 dashboard overtime when exposed to the sun and heat, toyota camry dashboard melts and gets sticky.

Drivers side sun visor fell off

Dash board is sticky and melting. called toyota because found warranty information and they said their warranty expired in may 2017. in may, my dashboard was fine. today's date is august 22, 2017. does toyota know exactly how long the dashboard lasts and terminate their warranty a month prior. car is not drivable due to shiny reflection of sun.

Dash has developed a sticky residue from the suns heat. cleaning the dash is not an option. it seems to only make it worse.

Sun visor has dropped and can feel separation on spine of visor.

I have a 2010 toyota camry, and this is the 3rd time i'm having to replace the visors in the car. the last replacement only 3 years ago (july 2014). the springs keep breaking, and the visors will not stay up nor will they stay all the way down. therefore, it is obstructing my visibility while driving. i have never driven with my visors down. the only reason i ever put them down is when i put a thin little shade in the windshield while at work. of all the vehicles i have ever owned, i have never had to replace visors, much less 3 times.

Dash is sticky, melting, breaking down, and deteriorating since june 2017. no recall notice from toyota. i had no idea that they had a lawsuit because of this issue until i researched to see if others had same problem. i just thought it was from the heat until i wasn't able to clean it or remove the stickiness and it was getting worse by the day. fearful to drive my car,as the dash has been compromised. anything that touches it leaves an imprint or indention. anything that touches it sticks to it. when your diving there is glare from the residue that has been broken down and since everything sticks to it and you can't clean it off that makes it hard to drive because of the glare. toyota has replace several dashes, but hat about the ones that have broken down after there time frame has elapsed? mine din't have any issues until after their time frame expired, so i'm i just out of luck and i'm supposed to repair their inferior product? i'm worried that if i were in an accident that the dash would just crumble and not protect my family or myself. i need help, i'm fearful to drive my car, but i have to since it's my only one. shouldn't toyota have sent out a recall notice to everyone that was affected?

My dashboard has become sticky. it appears that it is melting.

My trunk release is broken from the floor and the dashboard is very sticky/shiny which causes glare freon the sun

Passenger side sun visor broken.

Driver side visor does not stay up but falls into view of driver obstructing visibility. toyota recalled but it recurred with 12 months. serious problem as it happens at all speeds, including highway speeds. it cost $200.00 to repair and repair will be delayed for many causing hazard on highway. toyota acknowledged problem by recall but advises that they will fix problem only once.

The car's dashboard has melted from sun exposure, leaving a shiny, glossy, sticky coating on it that, when hit by the sun at certain angles, causes a blinding glare into the driver's eyes and a bright reflection of the dash onto the windshield, resulting in limited visibility and blind spots. toyota is aware of the problem that was caused by materials of insufficient quality and issued a warranty enhancement to fix the problem. unfortunately, as a secondary owner of the vehicle, i was never informed of this and did not know the problem was widespread and material-related until i recently found that information online. the warranty extension period has now expired, but in cases like mine, the issue has not been fixed, leaving the vehicle with a condition that unnecessarily causes a safety deficiency.

Sun visors will not stay in the up position; it affects my visual range. dash board sticky; leave in area where temperature reaches over 115* f.

Takata recall i have a 2010 toyota camry. august 2016 i started noticing that the sun visor on the divers side was slightly retracting back into position (half position). by september 2016, it was no longer retracting at all making it hard for me what was going on around me in traffic. by the end of september 2016, the visor is completely off.

The dashboard is sticky and it is melting. especially, on a hot day. as a result, when driving, it affecting visibility due to reflection to the windshield from the melting dashboard.

Although we did not notice it at first, as the summer wore on the dash became more of a problem. i was headed from north carolina to ohio for my grandmother's funeral when i noticed the problem was more than just a sticky dashboard. when driving at night the glare from the dashboard reflects on the window creating a significant hazard when driving. not exactly an ideal time to find out the car you had recently purchased was barely drive-able at night!

My toyota camry has a melting dashboard that toyota have replaced for 3.4 million cars but they said we were 14 days out of their extended warranty period. we never had an y notice form them. we called head office who said they did not have our owner details so could not send us any notices. we gave them our details but they said we were still not able to get this fixed even though we were never informed.

At first my sun visor fell off one evening when i was trying to block the sun from disrupting my view. then as time went by, my dashboard started melting and becoming sticky. like a goo. there is dirt and other debris stuck to it. very gross and it is impossible to clean, with so much dirt on it i feel it is a health hazard to my kids and myself. i talked to toyota a few days ago and they flat out told me that they cannot and will not fix it since the warranty was out. this was not something that i did, but the fault of the manufacturer. the goo causes a reflection on my windshield and it makes it difficult to see. this is a driving hazard, especially since i do not have a sun visor on my driver side since it has fallen off. i am asking for toyota to do the right thing.

The dash is lifting in the same such manor from other recalls from other vehicles that had the recall and i believe this should be under that recall as from the heat it make the dash start to lift in spots

The driver side sun visor (compartment) was broken and fell down under normal use. since the visor edge is pointing to my forehead directly now as i am not able to put it back to its original position, this is going to be life-threatening in case of a car crash or anything like this. checked on the internet, and found a lot of complaints on the same issue too. unfortunately, this is not under any of toyota's extended warranty or recall programs. i strongly believe this is manufacturing defect and should be recalled by toyota. i would request that proper actions be taken before the issue manifests itself in a hazardous situation.

I feel like your dealership lied3 sales men has been fired on the count of this situation i dont like the deal or warranty thathat was offered due to the color of my skin

The sunvisor on both side flops down when driving ,l call my dealership they said there's no recall

The dash is covered with a sticky substance. it was just an annoyance but now in the sunshine, it glares back on the windshield and is very hard to see. there has been more than once i have had to slow down or stop because i couldn't see.

Dashboard melting

Our toyota camry has been making extremely loud noises and knocking noises for over a year now. keep getting told our camry is not a recall but all the other toyotas that have this same problem have been serviced and fixed and recalled or a tsb bulletin has been issued.. just not ours ? this is ridiculous. i will never buy another toyota ever now.

My phone doesn't reconnect to the head unit after turning the bluetooth off and then on again (from stand still and driving situation). the only way to reconnect the phone is by turning the car off and back on again.

Entire dashboard has become sticky and reflective effecting my vision, become a safety hazard. unable to clean.

Mold negligence - issue originated around 10,000 miles as dealership records indicate. dealership replaced air filter as the repair. however, supposedly, the tsbs suggested that a moldy mildew smell may develop from the hvac components. the carpet was not pulled back and inspected until a formal complaint was made with toyota national. mold was present and photographed. additionally, other areas of the car were subject to other forms of water leaks and separate mold formed there also. consumer suggestion of a moisture sensor in the low points of the body to notify the owner of an issue via a warning light. car is unsafe to drive as odors are noxious and irritating and affect breathing respirations and overall health issues resulting in persistent cough. toyota national recently inspected and confirmed but rejected buyback or compensation. filing with nhtsa to document mold issues with 2010 model for legal references if toyota does not offer replacement and buyback.

2010 toyota camry. loss of value because of recalls. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) from:[xxx] subject:toyota comments: i recall a similar problem with military aircraft, in which the engineers (myself included), could not isolate a system error. it was repeatedly fixed with no success. the problem fell down to a firmware error, on which the software was running. the firmware logic code was a third party provision to the system, and none of the engineers had real access to the logic circuitry. the firmware tested fine, and ran the test code as well, with no errors. it wasn't until the system was fully operational, that the system threw the errors. since it was the firmware that threw the errors, none of the sensors or any of the system logs caught the problem. the vendor of the firmware "assumed" it was always the user code "the oem" that was at fault, and any log was aimed at monitoring the software execution, and not the firmware processing. in watching the major auto manufacturer come to his knees, it struck me as to how similar, the situation seems in this case, to what we experienced, in the air force. perhaps there should be some modicum of consideration to the firmware architecture in your investigation, and not just the software. just a thought for you to have fun with. davec from nhtsa web site. *tr
