Drivers side visor was slipping and would not stay up in locked position. i could not see out of the front window because the visor would hang down into my view. i had to rigg something so it would hold it up. (ie duck tape). after unsuccessfully trying to get the visor to stay in the upright position, it broke completely. *tr
I have 2008 camry and have had a melting dashboard for few years. this is absolutely a safety issue because the melted surface reflects sunlight onto the windshield making it difficult to see through the glare. in addition the melted dashboard could fuse with the airbag cover and cause it to malfunction. i question what kind of chemicals may be released in the air as well. *js
The sun visor on the drivers side of my 2008 camry has broken and will not stay in the up position. it caused major impairment to my vision while driving and was very distracting. in order to fix the problem i had to remove the visor completely from the bracket the holds it. now i have the opposite issue of not having a visor, which can in its own way can make driving difficult. the cost to fix the visor at the dealership was quoted to me as $185. *tr
The driver's side sun visor has broken and will not stay up in place. there is no way to keep this up and it becomes a driving hazard. removal of the visor then leaves the driver blind from the light of the sun in the morning and in the evening. it is apparent that this part fails on a regular basis and that toyota has continued to use the same mechanism in the toyota camry sun visor over a several year span and simply uses it as a revenue source from the driving public. *tr
Both sun visors on our 2008 toyota camry have failed. the driver sun visor failed first in july of 2011. it began not going all way back to the top. after about a week it would not stay up at all and began to hang down blocking our view as we drove. as a temporary solution we began to push the visor to the side so that we could see in front of us - however it did make it did obscure our side view. within two weeks time, the visor was completely off the hinges and falling over/hanging from the corner. now, (november 2011) the passenger side visor has began to fall and will not say up. *tr
While driving on a sunny day, visor repeatedly flopped down, causing moments where the sun blinded my visibility. *tr

While driving (at various speeds) the sunvisor on the driver's side falls down blocking vision via the front windshield. as a safety measure and to prevent an accident i have taped by sunvisor in the up position to ensure in does not fall down. i called toyota and inquired as to whether there had been a recall and the said no. my only course of action is to pay to have sunvisor changed out. *tr

The drivers' side sun visor broke and flops down in drivers face. at first it would stay in the holder but eventually started to flop down at any moment, flopping, creating a safety hazard. toyota dealership wanted $200.00 parts and labor to repair. i don't have that kind of money to fix a defective part. for safety reasons, i had it removed. the internal mechanism is locked as the only way it would fit in now would be opposite the way it has to be to work. this is a design flaw apparently, the tiny plastic parts cannot withstand the force of the metal parts which results in a failure. this is in a 2008 camry. *tr

I recently purchased a 2008 toyota camry le with approximately 40,000 miles. the driver's side sun visor is floppy and does not stay up in the "locked" position. when i drive over a bump, the visor flops down further. i am constantly having to push it up when it dangles too low and obstructs my vision. furthermore, if i get into an accident i could smash my forehead on the visor. i've researched finding a new visor online, only to find numerous complaints on the 2007 and 2008 models. i believe a recall is in order. *tr
While driving the drivers side visor would not stay up and would not stay in the folded down position. it was hanging freely blocking a clear view while driving. i was able to get to my destination with the help of my wife holding the visor in the up position. i discovered that my only options for fixing this problem were to spend a good sum of money to have the dealer replace it or to just take it off. i opted to remove the visor. i feel this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed by toyota. in doing research i have found numerous complaints from all models of toyota that address this same issue. *tr
2008 toyota camry driver's side sun visor will not stay up, continue to drop down obstructing my view of the road. causing a very dangerous situation. *tr
I have had to replace the passenger side sunvisor 6 months ago, now i have to replace the drivers side sunvisor. they dropped down and will not stay back up. it is causing vision impairment while driving. i eventually had to remove the drivers side sunvisor in order to see while i am driving. apparently, this is a major problem with several other toyota camry owners. it would be great if you could investigate the complaints. thanks for your time. *js

The driver side sun visor is dropping down on my 2008 toyota camry. both the clips are fine but it just quit staying in place. it happened around 40000 mile or after 3 and 1/4th year of ownership. i haven't used the visor heavily; my regular commute is opposite of sun position. *tr

I have a 2008 toyota camry and the driver's side sun visor broke and was hanging in my line of vision while driving. it would not stay up at all. it is a serious safety hazard. then, a few weeks later the passenger's side sun visor broke as well. i have read several reports about this issue and toyota has yet to send out a recall. the visors are $80 each & the service person at the toyota dealership told me they break due to heat and his dealership is making a lot of money off of them because of the extreme heat in the south. i purchased a driver's side replacement visor, but have not replaced the passenger side one because this issue needs to be addressed by toyota and because they are so expensive. *tr
Broken sunvisor in 2008 toyota camry......obstructs view when it constantly dangles, especially on passenger side. the drivers side has already been replaced....now the passenger side is broken only 2 months out of warranty. i have already filed a complaint with toyota, but no word as of yet. this car has already had 3 major recalls, with my car being directly affected with 2 of them. *tr
At 48000 miles the passenger side visor started free rotation (up and down) and free swing (side to side). had to remove visor . at 56600 mile the driver side visor had same problem. visor did not stay in up position plus it started moving side to side. had to remove visor at 56600 miles to prevent accident. this problem seems to be wide spread with the 2008 camry. *tr

Driver's side sun visor started having difficulty in maintaining the up position, finally failed and would only hang down straight toward the ground obstructing your view. upon stopping, i removed the visor out of fear that it would cause an accident. have contacted the local dealership, and have been advised it will be under warranty if there is no sign of abuse. *ln
2008 toyota camry sun visor problems. 1. no known events 2. sun visor both sides fail to lock up, they just hang down, not adjustable. consequence is my vision is impaired at all times. 3. i have removed the sun visors. now i have no way to use them when i do need them. *tr
The driver's side sun visor failed to stay up, impairing the drivers vision at about 38,000 miles, and was replaced for $120. the passenger side sun visor is now failing to stay up at about 50,000 miles, impairing vision. this is a safety hazard and a defect among 2007-2008 camry's. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota camry. the contact stated that the front passenger sun visor would intermittently hang downward and would not remain in the upward position. within three weeks, the drivers sun visor began to do the same. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where both sun visors were repaired. the failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 43,000.
Both (driver and passenger side) sun visors are defective via disconnect and/or inability to move from windshield view (occurring only 3 years after purchase of vehicle new). also, vehicles electrical plug outlets also do not work, and have not worked since after 3 years of vehicle purchased new. searching online, it appears that both items are extremely common for 2007-2008 toyota camry owners, with at least thousands pleading for a recall as the fixes are extremely expensive, for an item that does not typically break with normal wear and tear, and is obviously not derived from wear and tear. *tr
Sun visors are defected. easily broken when placed into use. could lead to an accident when the visor will not return to up position. they block the view and unable to return them back to up position. *tr
