Brought my 2007 toyota camry in for routine check up, tires rotation and alignment. i was informed that the struts are leaking. i only have 78,000 miles on the car.

Upon entering the car to leave, the seat belt is locked completely tight and cannot be pulled or released to reset the lock mechanism making the car unsafe and illegal.

Seat belt retractors (right and left) in the back seat do not work.

After rear-ending a car at approximately 30mph, my seat belt released and air bags failed to deploy. my seat belt had been tightly locked in place otherwise it would have pulled back to "not in use" position. i could have been killed. i believe my car is unsafe in a serious accident.

Upon entering my vehicle i found that the driver's side seat belt was locked and unable to retract or be pulled forward. i contacted a local toyota dealership, chicago northside toyota, and made a service appt for that afternoon. shortly before arriving at the dealership the seat belt suddenly unlocked and was movable again. upon inspection, the service technician told me that there was fraying on the seat belt, and that was the cause for the inability for the seatbelt to retract or move. none of this fraying he referred to is visible to me, so i presume it is hidden inside the panel which covers the seat belt mechanism. i presume this was caused by an internal mechanism and i suspect is a design defect. toyota will not honor any warranty for seat belt replacement after 5 yrs or 50,000 miles, which no longer applies to my vehicle, and is charging me $453 to replace the seat belt as a result of what i believe is a defect for an essential safety restraint. please investigate. *tr

Got in front right seat and the seat belt will not pull out to bucket. *tr

Dear friends, my drivers seat belt was locked . cannot loosen up. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The seat belt did not securely hold me in when the car behind me hit me, i was at a dead stop and was rear ended, the air bags also did not deploy, and my face hit the steering wheel. the force of the rear ending pushed me into the suv in front of me, the car was totaled. i suffered a concussion, whip lash, wrist and elbow injury and lower back was hurt after the impact. i was wearing my seat belt thankfully otherwise i could have hit the wind shield.

The rear left hand side seat belt got lock and there was no way to unlock it, the only solution at the time was to cut the seat belt with a knife to free my eight years old granddaughter that was crying and very scare. *tr

On 4/05/2014, all 5 seat belts locked after pulled out so far. a week later on 04/12/2014 the rear passenger belt would not lock and could be pulled out as far as the belt can go without ever locking. i then checked the other 4 belts and they all do not lock. as my only means of transportation i have no choice but to keep driving the vehicle and have been hoping that this problem would resolve itself as there are no warning lights on the dash, none flash or stay on an extended time when first started up & there has been no damage/incidents which could cause this problem. tonight i had a deer stop in the road in front of me while going 55 mph and had to slam on the brakes. i had hoped that the seat belt would at least function in this situation and it did not. will be contacting dealership about this issue because i believe that the safety belt system has failed in the car which has been in no accidents so there is no legitimate reason for them to have failed! the car is an 2007 toyota camry le/4 cyl/auto. *tr

Engine coils keep going bad had it replaced at the toyota dealer and continues to fail. i was driving on the highway when all of a sudden as i pressed on the acceleration it would only reach 30 mph, and my car felt like it was going to shut off. i almost crashed due to that incident not to mention it continues happen. i can not afford that nor any harm to my children. the passenger side seat belt is locked, and unable to use. i had my power window also failed to work on some occasions i have to manually push it up. i so love my toyota but there are also 8 other recall to which i can also relate to.

The left rear seat belt webbing is starting to fray on it's edge. this is preventing the belt from rolling in and out of the retractor. *tr

When utilizing latch system my other children can't access their safety belts in back seat. *tr

While driving 2007 toyota camry, the car was pulling to the left. i tried to control the car. the steering wheel locked up, the car went out of control. spinning and hitting the guard rail twice. the air bag didnt deployed, and the seat belt didnt hold or lock me into place while it was on. when the car came to a complete stop i turn the vehicle around from the on coming traffic, the brakes was giving out and the car was still steering to the left. i ended up in a ditch on the guard rail. *tr

I got a case number from toyota, toyota told me that the only way my air bag will deploy is that the motor would have to be in the car dash board to protect the driver. so she knows that the car air bag was working properly.

Seat belt failure!!! got in the car and tried to put on seat belt and it will not retract far enough to connect. *tr

I have a 2007 toyota camry lxe. a driver decided to move into my lane from the left, to avoid a serious collision i had to swerve to the right and hit the brakes. my anti-lock brakes locked and i had no control over the car as we skidded across four lanes and hit a concrete wall. the air bags did not deploy and the seat belts (which were in use) did not lock us in. my wife hit the inside ceiling and the right window of the front door. i tried to find an attorney to go after toyota but could not find one who had the guts to stand up to toyota. there was over $14,500 in repairs and as of today they are still putting the car back together again. *kb

Driver's side sun visor started to fall apart around march 2011, it became safety issue as it failed to stay in stowed position and was only matter of time before it fell off altogether. went to dealer to buy replacement at cost of $121.85. now passenger side visor is doing the same thing and will have to be replaced soon. also rear lap seat belt is unserviceable due to locked-in retracted position. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the drivers side sun visor flipped down and struck her in the face while obstructing her vision. the dealer was notified and stated that the sun visor needed to be replaced. the passenger side sun visor also experienced the same failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 44,000. updated 09/27/11 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle has other issues such as the trunk release not working as well as the seat belt being inoperative. (daughter wrote in on behalf of her mother, who is the owner of the vehicle) updated 11/02/11

2007 toyota camry. back seatbelts "lock" while driving. my children sit in booster seat and use shoulder belt. we will be driving and they will lock where they can not move. we have to undo seatbelt, pull out a little and then it will retract. this has happened frequently and not in response to sudden stop. 3/14/10 one of the seatbelts in back did this and it will not come unlocked. the dealer is going to replace the entire seatbelt but it seems odd that this happens with all the belts. we do not feel confident they will work properly if there were and accident. with recent recalls related to possible mechanical and brake system thought it should be reported. *tr

On more than occasion the drivers side seat belt has become inoperable. it appears that it does not retract properly and will not release so that the driver can put it on. after several hours or days it will finally retract and begin to work again. this problem was reported to the dealer and was working when we took it in. nothing was done. it is going in again because it is happening more often and lasting longer. *tr

Tl*the contact has a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that if you adjust the seat for a taller person, the seat belt does not adjust and secure the passenger or drive and remained loose. the seat belt has malfunctioned since the vehicle was purchased. the current mileage was 67000.

I purchased a toyota camry le 2007 model with 2.4 liter 4 cylinder on mar 18 2007. after first 15 -30 days, i started noticing a squeak or a kind of rattle from the front driver seat belt support area. the service technician at the dealers site was able to successfully reproduce the problem but said everything is normal. after lot of effort from my side to convince the gravity of the problem to the dealer considering seat belt as most critical element for drivers safety, dealer agreed to fix the problem. after a week long effort the problem was partially fixed. the squeaks are audible even now when the vehicle is turned right or occasionally when the surface of the road is uneven. the technician at dealers site acknowledge this behavior but is not able to provide a permanent fix to this problem. the problem is found to be only on the drivers side seat belt b pillar area. the passenger side seat belt on the contrary do not have this problem. i am deeply concerned with safety of the vehicle since proper analysis as to root cause of this problem has not been done by the service personnel. one can imagine the security risk this problem poses to the vehicle driver as it has the potential to cause a seat belt malfunction request nhtsa to kindly investigate this matter with due diligence and ensure manufacturer does a safety recall for this problem and takes all obligation necessary to fix the problem. *tr

One car accident. front end shimmy led to an uncontrollable spin in right lane of highway (62-63 mph in a 65 zone, road dry, no sand, ice, water, oil), spun into left guardrail, bounced off and hit right side guardrail head on 45-60 mph. front/knee airbags did not deploy, seatbelt caught too late, leading to driver (only person in car) hitting head on steering wheel and knee on center console. injuries include concussion, whiplash, right knee/hip pain/damage, headaches, backaches, dizziness, neck/back soreness, forgetfulness following accident (random short term memory loss). car totaled (front end destroyed, other damage), problem reported to toyota. toyota rep appeared to be trying to blame driver on airbag/seatbelt failures but is sending investigator to check auto. insurance company has inspected vehicle. driver not ticketed by police (deemed not at fault for accident). *tr

2007 toyota camry seat belt is tight and stiff. *kb the consumer stated in order to be comfortable, she has to push the seat back and incline the back of the seat. the consumer stated she is not tall enough to drive that way. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealership and was told the seat belt could not be modified. the vehicle also had a vibration. the tires were balanced twice, there was a little improvement, however the consumer was told the vibration was normal because the engine was powerful. *jb
