Problems with 2007 Suzuki Forenza POWER TRAIN

While driving the car on the highway the light for the engine came on and the car died. after being towed it was determined that the head was blown. after replacing the engine the light remains on and now there is a problem with the transmission. there is supposed to be a defect in a sensor for the transmission that keeps these problems happening in this vehicle.

I was stopped at a red light and started to drive the car when the light turned green but my car did not want to go forward, my car pulled. i had to step on the accelerator with more pressure for it to go forward. i finally got to a safe area and turned the car off. i left it off for about three minutes then proceeded to turn it on and drove off, i notice my check engine light was on at that point, and drove to my mothers home nearby where my brother who is an auto tech scanned my car and the transmission range sensor code came up. help is there a recall on this? *js

Shifter lock solenoid defect, for no apparent reason i now have to jam a key into the shifter to switch out of 'park' every single time i start my car. *tr

I keep having to stick a key in my shift lock just to get the car out of park and has been occurring for a while now. the part you put the seat belt into when you put it on keeps sticking down so you can't wear a seat belt sometimes and i have had to replace my transmission range sensor about every 3 months since i have had the car which is ridiculous. *tr

When operating in drive position the vehicle went into neutral with loss of traction, drive power could only be restored by selecting drive position 3. there were several subsequent occurrences of the problem one of which nearly resulted in a rear end collision. a transmission repair shop diagnosed a neutral safety / transmission position switch failure. this appears to be a repeating complaint theme with this vehicle model. the occurrence is unnerving and could result in severe (potentially fatal) consequences. *tr

Before taking my kids to school, i put my car in reverse to back out of my parking space, as soon as i switched it from reverse to drive, my car would not move. i noticed that on the digital screen that the "d" had a slash mark as if to say "no driving", and the check engine light came on. i put the car in park and turned it off. i restarted it to see if maybe it was a glitch in the system. this time, i went from park to drive and the slash mark was still on drive, however i was able to drive the car very slowly.. it wouldn't go over 5mph. i reversed and parked back into my parking space. once this happened, i decided to do some research. turns out, it is the transmission range sensor, and a lot of owners are having the same issue. the next day, i decided to attempt to drive it again.. because we all know these cars have a mind of their own and seem to decide to go bad one day and act completely normal the next! i started the car and the check engine light was on, but seemed to drive fine. i drove it to have it tested at the auto store. the test confirmed that it was the transmission range sensor. i then stopped at a store on my way home. i was in the store less than 5 minutes, came out to my car, and it would not start! i thought the battery had ironically died. my brother in law came to jump it, but had no success. i turn the key all the way over, and the service lights come on, but it wont even try to turn over.. its almost as if the car has nothing under the hood... crazy that it wont even attempt to start. my brother in law says it may be the starter, but something tells me this all has something to do with the transmission range sensor. please put this part on recall! i've seen enough complaints from owners that i cant believe there hasn't been one yet. enough is enough! recall the transmission range sensor! this is dangerous!!!! *tr

Put my car in r (reverse) on a level driveway and it made a clunking sound as if it were being forced. the dash gave a signal instead of an r for reverse, a square with a line through it. as i put it into d (drive) it dragged to accelerate. the check engine lamp came on and the local mechanic said his computer read transmission range sensor. he said the trs and the catalytic converter need to be changed. the car needs a couple of motor mounts. this will easily cost me over 800.00 including labor. i just finished having the transmission coils and wires replaced ($350.00) having just purchased this vehicle (used) from a private party; my concerns are high regarding safety and costs for repairs. what of a recall concerning the transmission range sensor? please help!! *tr

After being parked for a while the car jerks when i shift to reverse as well as makes some kind of clunking sound. afterward, when i shift to drive, there is a marked delay prior to acceleration. this also happens whenever i come to a complete stop at traffic lights, stop signs etc. i'm wondering if this is the transmission sensor again which i had to replace in 2011 @ 30k miles because my car would stall while in operation. this transmission sensor issue is way too common in these cars for suzuki to not have issued any kind of statement or provided any restitution yet. i'm dreading having to pay another $200+ for repairs. this is a dangerous defect and they shouldn't wait like gm to deal with it. these vehicles should be recalled. *tr

The car indicates that it is no longer in drive. even though on the shifter it says it is still in drive. also when driving down the road the car will come out of drive. to fix the problem you must pull the car into third gear, wait a few minutes then put it back into drive. *tr

It started havin a shift malfunction from 3 to 4 gear and now quite often just revs up instead of going, passenger seat belt often releases on its own, and the passenger airbag is constantly on. *tr

I have a 2007 suzuki forenza, shortly after i got it i noticed it would cut off when i turned the a/c on. if i leave the a/c on it jerks and struggles to reach the posted speed limit. aside from that issue while driving the car doesn't change gears well and rpm shoots way up and the car drags. this is very dangerous and has caused me to almost be involved in multiple accidents. i do not feel safe with my children nor my self driving this car. something needs to be done about this defect before someone gets hurt. when this occurred i was attempting to turn and car wouldn't accelerate at that point i panicked and realized i had the pedal all the way down and it still would not go. then all of a sudden it made a big clunk and jerk and slowly pulled off. i was on a busy intersection between two highways. this is very dangerous and does need immediate attention. *tr

3rd time problem with the transmission range sensor. why can suzuki get away with not having a recall for this dangerous problem?? how many people have to have the exact same problem before something can be done about it? will it take someone being killed? i doubt if even that will help motivate them to do the right thing. *tr

When i was in park i put it in reverse the car didn't recognize the car was in reverse and it had a line across it and check engine light came on. i put the car back in park and then was able to drive it, and the light went off, but the while driving the car the line will go across the drive and the car will no longer accelerate, which can be dangerous on the highway. i brought it into pepboys they said a transmission code was popped up, but they reset the codes, even though i didn't tell the guy to do that. now the problem occurs but the check engine light doesn't come on. i brought it to a suzuki dealership and they said they think it is a transmission sensor, but the diagnostic check said it was fine, and they said wait until the check engine light comes back on, but the problem now occurs without the check engine light coming on. but i'm scared to drive it on the road because at anytime i could lose power and be injured in a car accident. i had it towed to a local mechanic and hope they can repair it. *tr

My first exp. with this problem happened as i was backing out of a parking space . i put the car in reverse and it went back, but i put in drive it would not move, so i put in 3rd gear and it move forward slowly until put in drive again and it worked. second time a was driving about 40 mph and all of a sudden the car goes into neutral and i lose power , again i put in 3rd and power catches luckily no one behind me to slam into me. i took it to the dealer and asked if there had been a recall on this problem ,they said no but would check it out for 90 dollars! they could not reproduce the problem and didn't do anything. third time tonight 1-20-13 im leaving work and the car gets me to the grocery sore alright, but leaving for home it goes from drive to neutral and no power again put it 3rd and i get home driving 15 mph .when trying to park it wont go into park i have to put in neutral ,turn key off and hand brake . turned the car back on to see if it would work right and all i would get was a slash over the p and the d. *tr

I could really use some assistance. i have a 2007 forenza and yesterday as i was putting the car into reverse, it made a loud clunking noise. the gear selector display on the dash seemed to go haywire displaying all the letters (d, r, n, etc) with a diagonal line through it. it then went back to normal, then the "check engine" light came on. they hooked up the diagnostic computer and it came up with codes po700 and po705, which varies in wording but seems like it's the transmission range sensor.i have read that many other people have had the same problem. this is a problem that suzuki should take care of a sensor cost to those who bought their cars. *tr

Brakes would not work at all! transmission will randomly not go anywhere (sometimes it works sometimes it dosent) i had to swerve out of the way into a persons yard so avoid an accident. *tr

I have had two transmission range sensors put in my car and now it needs a third one. the last one the mechanic stated something is "burning up the sensor." i also have issues with getting the key out of the ignition. my car now has 102,000 miles and i have had nothing but problems with it from day one. it seems there are a lot of transmission range sensor issues that people are having. the problem is this is a recurring issue. like i said this is my third one. this should be a recall from suzuki and they need to figure out what is causing these sensors to keep going out. *tr

I just had this part replaced in january 2012 now 2 months later check engine light going on in the middle of driving. went to autozone and guess what transmission range sensor again!!!!! i bought part from dealer in january and had my licensed auto mechanic put it in, now car doing exactly same thing it did in january car jerking into reverse , scrambled gear letters on dash board, this part is defective what do i have to do replace it every 2 months!!!! make it a recall already , i am not the only complaint!!!! *tr

My transmission range sensor is malfunctioning. prior to find out that this was actually the issue i internet search numerous complaints that this part is a failing part on my type of car (2007 suzuki forenza) and it has been reported. the dealer advised that because it wasn't on the recall list the part wasn't covered(i bought part from dealer and had different mechanic do the repairs). my frustration is that complaints have been received by suzuki for this issue but it hasn't been placed on the recall list. what merits what goes on a recall list? *tr

I have been reading about these 2007 suzukis. the transmission range sensors is going out on my vehicle also. the mechanic also stated the throttle body was bad. now i just had 1600.00 worth of work to this vehicle, timing belt changed, new tires, oil changed etc. suzuki needs to step up to the plate and recall these lemons!! the mechanic stated the throttle body was major but said he wasn't sure if it was covered under powertrain warranty. if suzuki cannot guarantee their cars for less than 100'000 miles than i'll never buy another suzuki! think i'll paint my canary yellow!!!!!! *tr

My check engine light came on after i placed the car in reverse, it gave a big "thunk" sound. i turned the car off and restarted it. the check engine light is still on. when i went to the dealership to get a diagnosis and they said it was a transmission range sensor gone bad! $250 to replace. as you can see that there are a lot of customer complaints on the same issue but no recall. i have already had the brake light sensor replaced earlier this year and a power steering pump! not liking suzuki right now! *tr

Car was sputtering and hesitating. check engine light came on. we took to mechanic and error p0705 transmission range sensor came up as the problem. suzuki is aware of this ongoing problem and they are clearly ignoring the potential for a serious accident to occur by not recalling and rectifying the issue. rather they are relying on their consumers to absorb the expense of this repair. my faith in suzuki has definitely been shaken and this definitely will influence my decision to purchase another suzuki or recommend suzuki. it is time that suzuki step up and admit their negligence, rectify the issue, compensate those who have absorbed the cost of this repair, and restore the faith in its consumers. *kb

Experiencing transmission problems in a 2007 suzuki forenza which was purchased from a dealer as a used vehicle on feb. 1, 2010 with 31,819 miles. vehicle currently has 51,800 miles and the automatic transmission, when manually attempting to shift from "park" to "drive", experiences a "hard shift" and is "stuck" in a high forward gear, rendering it unsafe to drive.. the vehicle's computer is showing a diagnostic error code of p0705 "transmission range sensor circuit malfunction (prndl input)". *tr

Transmission range sensor, is going out my car will not stay in gear anymore very dangerous to drive and is not covered under warranty and cost 300 dollars also my air bad sensor on the driver side does not go off anymore and have already broke a door handle suzuki is horrible which haven't checked the price on those and i have saw a lot of people are having the same problems. *tr

My 2007 suzuki forenza will not shift gears properly. if you put the car in reverse and then put it into drive the car will not idle to drive, make a loud ruff sound and the check engine light comes on. after driving it for maybe 15 min and letting it sit for about an hour it goes back to normal. all to do the same thing the very next day or later on that day. not to mention i bought it with only 12,000 miles on it, two and a half years ago and it now only has 42,000 miles now. *tr

When shifting my 2007 suzuki forenza into gear from "park" to "reverse", there is a delay, then a "dropping"/"loud knocking" noise, then the car goes into gear. even though in "reverse", it shows an error on the instrument panel displaying an "x" on the indication of what gear it is. the "x" also appears when in "3rd", "2nd", and "1st" but not in "park" or "drive". after the car is in gear, the vehicle runs "sluggish" and doesn't seem to get past the third gear. placing the vehicle in "park" and turning of the car and restarting and placing in drive sometimes fixes the problem. even if the problem is fixed that day, i have never gone longer than 2 days without it happen again. i have been told that is a problem is the "ranger sensor", but i have not replaced them yet. *tr

Transmission would sometimes slip what feels like neutral (no power) while in drive. other times transmission would stay in drive and would not down shift auto or manual. frequency is increasing. cost at dealer is financially prohibitive at this time. research indicates problem is common to this and prior year manufacture. *tr

1. in this car model i was reading and it haves the same problem the transmission range sensor which i bought it and they replace it. 2. the failure occurs every day , the consequences are that when i give reverse it makes a weird noise and when i put it to drive it takes forever to speed up. 3. i bought the part at suzuki because that was the only place that they had it, and they replace it and after it got replaced another problem came up, the reverse and drive gear sometimes it doesn't click so it wont do anything, ad i was reading online that a lot owners of suzuki have the same problem can you guys help me out on this. *tr

August the 7th the park and drive sign keep getting mixed up on the odometer board....this is on my 2007 suzuki forenza ....i been told its a transmission sensor. *tr

My wife owns a 2007 suzuki forenza, at around 50k miles, we noticed that when shifting from park, the check engine light comes on and the odometer reads a blinking symbol while a violent jerk occurred. then when accelerating, the car would have a loud low-pitch hum as if we were towing a bus on ice. i had a diagnostic test ran and discovered that my transmission range sensor and my transmission shift solenoid were faulty. me being a mechanic and all, i call around to buy the part, no luck. so i finally call the dealership and guess what they say? only the dealership has the parts and you're going to have to bring it to us and pay a ridiculous price. i refuse to pay someone else to do a job that i know i can do, especially if were talking about a cost that exceeds $500 for a one and a half hour job. i don't understand why these parts are exclusive to dealers especially when the part is obviously poorly crafted by the makers. so many complaints about the same thing. why hasn't there been a recall already? or at least make the parts available to the public. this is a serious safety hazard, left turns are a gamble, and i can just imagine the wear on the engine itself. at 50 mph the rpm's are at 3000 to 4000 rpm's! please help! *tr
