On 2/11/20 around 12:30pm et, i was approaching the highway via an onramp, and my speed was barely 25 mph. suddenly, as i was on the approach-road, i suddenly felt that the steering was locked and turning on the right side only (either steering or anti-lock malfunction). it hit the fence and then turned (flipped) on its driver side as can be seen in the picture. i believe this is a safety issue, so please make a proper investigation. my car was totaled. my damaged car is in 'county towing' in 49 fullerton ave, yonkers, ny 10704, phone: (914) 423-1101

While driving at highway speeds on clear dry roadways, the steering feels as if i have a brief loss of control. i liken it to hitting a patch of ice and having a slight loss of steering control. i've noticed it twice while entering a curve and decelerating from 55 mph to 45 mph (the reduced speed limit of the curve). this issue happens only intermittently and is only noticeable at highway speeds. we had the subaru dealer look at it and they said nothing was wrong.

Dec 7th. lane centering and cruise control functions on. while traveling south on i-75 in the center lane my wife moved to the left lane to pass another car. after passing the car she had to fight the steering wheel to stay in the left hand lane. after several minutes she took her hands off the wheel and the car veered sharply to the right and across the dashed white line into the center lane. as she righted herself back into the left hand lane i reached over and turned the lane centering function off. about 15 minutes later she was following a brown van. the cruise control was still on, was maintaining a speed of 68 mph and safe distance. cruise was set at 70mph and distance at 4 bars. the van exited the interstate at which time the outback started a hard acceleration and had reached a speed of 87 mph before i realized what was happening and turned off cruise control. acceleration factor was set to normal, i then set it to eco dec 19th. cruise control on, lane ...

2018 Subaru Outback

My 2018 subaru outback does not have steering assist and was purchased new. at all speeds, the steering feels very loose when traveling resulting in a disconnect between the road/wheels and the steering wheel. at highway speeds, the car often feels like it is hydroplaning or wind is forcing it to the left or right despite driving on dry roads in calm weather. the steering is erratic and is especially unpredictable when driving on uneven or snow covered roads. on snowy roads, the car drifts and feels like it is uncontrollably starting to slide resulting in an over correction of the steering wheel. this problem is terrifying and the exact opposite of how subaru advertises the car performance. i took the car to my dealer as it is still under warranty and they only said it was the alignment which we just had done the previous week. subaru has had steering problems before and i feel like they are just trying to ignore the problem. im surprised they have not issued a recall since the problem is very dangerous and could result in driving accidents and deaths.

Bought vehicle used one owner no previous occurances, 8000 miles recorded. gradually, a rumbling sound comes from front driver side when turning wheel on flat dirt driveway predominantely. concurrent noise from dash. at 10,000 miles the car now makes rumbling noise at low speeds while traveling in straight line on good pavement (inaudible at high speeds) same front right location, dash was repaired replacing speaker grills and still makes rattling noise after fixing. rumbling noise from drivers left front area checked by dealer and reported nothing looked wrong. noise continues from dashboard. rumbling noise from front driver side left wheel/dash area continues more often and seems to be inaudible at higher speeds - rumbling noise upon turning wheel and going straight on pavement as well as on flat graded dirt driveway. subaru dealer service manager states that his field manager has concurred this has been reported elsewhere and cannot be fixed at this point in time. taking back to dealership to have them check everything more thoroughally, if they cannot find problem, will take to dealership in another town to check, if they cannot find problem wiill either sue using the lemon ...

My wife and i were driving home on i35 in oklahoma. the road was straight. it was nighttime. i had all the subaru eyesight safety systems enabled. both hands were on the steering wheel, with adaptive cruise control set at 70mph. lane centering was among the features operating. i suddenly experienced an instantaneous and very abrupt, uncommanded ~30-40 degree clockwise rotation of the steering wheel. the whole event lasted just 2-3 seconds and i quickly recovered back to the left. fortunately, the lateral displacement of our track was only a few feet into the breakdown lane on the interstate. my manual control inputs on the steering wheel easily overcame the actuator. i immediately disabled the lane centering function and we continued home without further incident. the takeaway that i want to emphasize is that this was an extremely abrupt, sudden hard right deflection of the wheel. this was not the normal gentle nudge and slow, slight steering wheel movements that the lane keep and lane centering systems normally provide. imagine that your passenger reached over and forcefully grabbed the steering wheel ...

On multiple occasions (when starting in driveway - stopped, while driving in parking lot - 5 mph, driving in town - 25 mph, while driving on highway - 60 mph) all advanced safety features are disabled including (but not limited to) eye sight (fab - forward auto brake, acc - adaptive cruise control, las - lane assist steering), rab - rear auto brake, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection, park brake, abs, traction control, power steering. note that the failure of these systems does not cause a check engine condition and no error codes are logged. the dealer indicated that the first 4/5 failures left no codes. the next failure was delivered to dealer while running in a failed state. dealer reported no codes found. since the dealer did not report this to subaru i will be reporting this problem to subaru.
