The truck was put into park with the key in the ignition and the engine running. it was parked in a restaurant parking lot. then around five minutes...
I entered my vehicle 2018ram1500 this morning after it had being stored inside my garage overnight. i sat down, pressed the brake and was about to start it when i noticed the shifter dial was on 'r' and began beeping continuously. i used the ignition button to switch from 'off' "acc" to 'start' and back/forth and pressing on the brake until i was able to shift the transmission to 'p'. once in 'p' i pressed the brake and then started the truck. when i proceeded to move on reverse out of my garage, it began beeping continuously and flashing two messages on the display , "service shifter" followed by "service transmission shut off engine to engage park" then my radio blackout. i could still hear music and was able to control it but there was no display.
While driving home, i noticed some noise that ounde like a turbo noise and loos of power. i pulled over immediately shut off engine and poped hood. looke up and smoke from engine. opened hood and saw small fire on rear passenger side of engine by turbo housing. soon the truck was totally engulfed by flames.
I took my truck into a dealer because the exhaust system wouldn't clean itself. i found out there were recalls pertaining to this and they were handled as far as i knew. however, just a few weeks later as i was pulling into my driveway at home i noticed smoke barreling out from under the hood. i imediately tried to shut it off and when i did it would rev up higher instead of shutting off. i got it to shut off finally and left it sitting there overnight until i could get a tow truck to take it back to the dealership, where i was informed that this problem is now so common that the part is on back order and no idea of when they will be able to get it. now its 3 weeks later and i still haven't gotten my truck back.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v818000 (engine) and 20v036000(power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. the contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. a dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the vehicle had not experienced the failure. vin tool confirms the parts were not available.
In order to register my vehicle in california i was forced to accept the v08 emissions recall. after this recall, i have noticed substantial lag between depressing the accelerator and between when the vehicle accelerates. i was told there would be no change in performance by both the dealer and fca. i have almost been in two accidents now because i attempted to execute a left turn and even though i was depressing the accelerator, the vehicle sluggishly rolled through the intersection and then 2-3 seconds later, accelerated rapidly making it difficult to maintain lane integrity while navigating the turn. i generally drive fairly modestly which is why there have been only two life-threatening incidents in the past 3 or so months that i have had the "update". realistically though, this forced update has changed the nature of the truck and made it ultimately more dangerous to drive. all of this behavior began after the noted recall. i spoke with the dealership where the recall was performed, and was told that they have received this complaint from other drivers as well, and that while ram was aware of the problem, they had no ...
Was told the exhaust manifold bolt/studs warped and snapped and the exhaust manifold is warped, this happened on the driver side first but was covered under warranty but now happening on driver side out of warranty. was told my dealership they see this often and was told fca has fixed the problem in newer years by using stronger material in the bolts. this informs me that fca knows of the problem but the dealers won't cover it as a design defect. clearly there is a design defect with the exhaust manifold bolts as they should not be doing this and manufactures are suppose to account for these parts to see extreme temp changes. this has happened now twice to me but because i am no longer under warranty they won't fix the problem. the fist time was before 60,000 miles and now the other side is happening at 76,000 miles. to summarize the problem is warped exhaust manifold bolts and the manifold itself.
This has happened several times. when driving the ram, with the gear in drive and in 2 wheel drive, the transmission will not shift out of first gear. obviously, this is very dangerous for driving. this seems to be a recurring issue with the dodge ram and should be fixed or recalled. similar issues with the 2019 dodge ram: https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t77803_ds971922
After parking my vehicle in my driveway with the rear on the upper side of a slight incline and placing the vehicle in park and shutting engine off, the vehicle strarts rolling downward for approxiamately 5 to 7 feet, eventually stopping. firsted noticed yesterday, 12/3/19 and then again today.this is a very serious issue and a safety concern. i read on online that it may be related to issues with the brake transmission shift interlock.
After complying with the v08 (aem) software update due to the ram ecodiesel emissions update my driving experience/performance has changed dramatically. during acceleration their has been anywhere from 3-6 delay seconds before adequate power and speed can be felt. this is at a full stop such as a stop sin or red traffic light. during highway traffic (passing) or merging into a lane is were is most noticeable. this failure occurs even when engine is properly at operating temperature and is worse right after start up. since multiple people use their trucks for towing purposes, this greatly increases the effect and even further decreases the performance that is relied upon. the aem software update specifically states "the aem is not expected to change any of your key vehicle attributes, such as average fuel economy, reliability, durability, vehicle performance, drivability, engine noise or vibration, or other driving characteristics." this directly contradicts the class action lawsuit remedy requirements. due to the failed instant acceleration as well as taking up to 3500 rpm before forward movement can be established in some instances has led me to formally create and record a safety concern that requires immediate attention. failure to do so puts owners ...
Two separate occasions, first incident put vehicle into park left running came back to vehicle and it had rolled forward into front of garage. second incident parked turned vehicle off at top of driveway woke up next morning to find vehicle at bottom of the driveway.
