Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v818000 (engine) and 20v036000(power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. the contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. a dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the vehicle had not experienced the failure. vin tool confirms the parts were not available.
The "service electronic throttle control" light as well as the "cel" illuminate and the vehicle goes in to limp mode. i had this issue at 3100 miles and it left the vehicle inoperable until a dealership performed a programming flash. now at 31100 miles the issue has happened again nearly causing me to get t-boned due to the limp mode causing a significant power reduction. the truck has been sitting at the dealership for four days now without any further communication from them. this is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed by ram, my truck has the ecodiesel engine. i have found many other complaints on this same issue across the fiat/ chrysler lineup.
My truck has a manufacturing date of 11/17 and only has 37k miles on the truck. randomly my truck went into a "limp mode" and a check engine light for electronic throttle control service light came on. i was driving down university drive in huntsville, al at roughly 45mph accelerating up a small incline. the 'limp mode' is extremely unsafe and restricts the ability to accelerate or drive at a normal pace. had this happened on the highway or pulling out (what would normally be safe) into traffic and my ability to accelerate was effected it could have caused serious safety concerns. i take my 13-week old daughter to and from daycare in this truck and it has become unsafe. when taken to the dealer, they originally notated that it was just a software update. i late get a call that the egr cooler had gone out, but would not be covered under warranty. the service advisor told me they had 6 other ecodiesel vehicles in for the same issue in the last week. i called the dealer i bought it from and they had one in the shop in for the same exact problem. i then started doing research and found that the egr cooler is a huge issue for these trucks and fca refuses to address it. i called the fca and they eventually agreed to replace the truck on 'good will' after i paid a deductible. fca needs to put a recall on these vehicles and fix the egr issues. now there are reports that the valves are sticking and causing the egr to cause a fire. purchasing dealer: university cdjr in rome, ga servicing dealer: landers mclarty cdjr in huntsville, al
Every once in a while, when i change gears, it will not go in, it will just flash. i so far, can change to another selection, such as drive and the vehicle will move. this happened once in my driveway, tried numerous things and would not work in reverse. i called dealer and they told me to bring it in. they had it towed. after arrival, it worked. i went online and discovered numerous entries from people as far back as 2013, who have experienced the same problem, some times in drive and sometimes in reverse, like mine. some said they were driving and at a stoplight. the second time it happened to me was at the grocery store parking lot, i was pulling into a parking spot, stopped to back up and straighten out, put it in reverse, all it would is flash. tied up the parking lot for approximately 40 minutes. finally it worked.
Dodge ram 1500. consumer states that while in drive and reverse the rpm is above 5000. *ld the consumer stated the vehcile would not move.*js
Tl* the contact owned a 2017 ram 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle was stationary with the possibility of it being in the park position. the contact mentioned that he was distracted taking photographs at the time when the brake pedal was released and began to exit the vehicle. as the contact attempted to exit, the vehicle rolled away causing the driver to fall out the vehicle and hit his head on the ground. as a result of the fall, the contact had a vague memory as to the exact events that took place. the vehicle rolled over a 400 feet cliff. when the driver fell out of the vehicle, he was unconscious for an unknown amount of time, sustained an ankle, cracked head, and fractured hip injuries. medical attention was not sought. the contact had to limp a few miles on foot to a cell phone site and contacted the highway patrol. the police was present and a report was issued number: 9730-2019-01017. no ambulance or fire department present. the vehicle was towed out the cliff line which took 8 hours to complete and was taken to an impound lot. the insurance company picked it up afterwards. the vehicle was deemed destroyed. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. the manufacturer was not notified of the apparent failure. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v100000 (power train). the approximate failure mileage was 40,000. *dt *tr *bf *jb *dt *as *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. while the engine was turned off and the transmission was in the park position, the vehicle rolled backwards down the driveway. in addition, while operating the vehicle, the transmission erroneously switched from drive into park, although the gear shifter remained in the drive position. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. courtesy chrysler (2225 e. lincoln hwy, coatesville, pa) was notified of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 21,000.
5 days after having the truck in for regular maintenance and recalls... i took the truck through an automated car wash. i have taken it to this same car wash several times. i put the truck in neutral, as instructed by the attendant. at the end of the wash, when the green light came on, i put it into drive. it did not move. i tried many times, but without success. finally the manager came to help me, and he too witnessed that it would not move. we put it into park, and then into drive, two more times before it finally jerked forward. in the meantime, i was hit by the truck behind me, and set off a chain of 5 vehicles colliding. the gear dial said i was in drive each time, but clearly, i was not. i am taking it back to the dealership first thing in the morning.
While at the boat ramp, pulling a boat out of the water. the truck was on an incline. the boat was about 1200 - 1500 pounds total. the truck was in park, parking brake engaged. sitting in the cab with the seat belt on and the door ajar, placing the transmission in drive, after the transmission engaged i increased the rpm slightly with the gas pedal and then released the parking brake. this has always been the normal procedure that prevents the rig from rolling backward. when i did this and added more throttle the truck started to move forward but then quickly disengaged from park to n, the truck started to roll backwards and the rpm increased. i was able to apply the brake and stop. this repeated several times. the instrument cluster flashed a warning that the truck was not in park. i believe there is a flaw in the auto park feature. it is repeatable. incline, door ajar, belt on, from park to drive. on flat ground i can not duplicate.
Takara recall erratic shifting of second and third gears.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. when the contact attempted to check the transmission fluid, there was no dipstick present. the contact stated that the transmission hesitated when switching from two to four wheel drive. the gear would shift roughly into another gear. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 4,200. the vin was unknown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. while driving between 35-75 mph, "service shifter" appeared on the instrument panel and all of the warning indicators illuminated. in addition, the trailer hitch and electrical system failed. the vehicle was towed to lithia dodge ram (301 n. earl rudder fwy, bryan tx 77802) where it was diagnosed that one of the electrical sensors got wet underneath the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired and a new sensor was installed; however, the failure later recurred. the vehicle was repaired four times for the same failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 21,000. *bf *as
I was parked on an unpaved flat campground road.truck would not go from park to reverse, so after warning lights on dash advised to return to park, i followed instructions. then again tried reverse and the truck jumped into drive causing it to go into a small pond. after which the vehicle would no longer change into any gear. this vehicle has had multiple recalls and we have taken it in twice for the transmission recall only to be told nothing was wrong.
#1. with 21k mi. the service airbag system came on.it it stayed on for 5-7 sec and went off. it was intermittent at first but now it has been doing the same 2 or 3 times per minute. #2 the tailgate latch malfunctions at times and the tailgate falls by itself. it has done this while driving and sitting stationary after locking it with the key fob. #3 both front windows are equipped with an auto up feature. this feature has come and home in both front windows. at the time it works but it happens irregularly. #4 the transmission doesn't shift well after coasting as in on the highway. it almost seems to bog down and i have to put some weight on the accelerator to get it to respond. no codes have been thrown for the transmission so far. #5 the knob on the far left drivers vent fell off.
Truck with 3.0l diesel engine. vehicle has twice (during first 6,000 miles) shown error message "service electronic throttle control" and truck has been disabled. first time was driving on mountain highway with heavy commute traffic when truck could not maintain any speed and struggled get truck safely off road. with multiple occurences with brand new vehicle it is a safety issue.
My ram 1500 just rolled over the 36k factory warranty and my transmission light cam and my fuel lever indicator failed. i am afraid that the truck will shut off when the fuel lever drops to e but i know there is fuel in the truck. also when my transmission light comes on the eco fuel system does not work any more. no messages appear on my message panel. when the fuel sensor failure happens i am driving on the highway and i just made a left turn. i have also have issues with my radio turning its self off or adjusting the volume by its self.. i have also experienced my digital odometer reading to just disappear at random times. my transmission light comes on randomly. it is sad that i bought a new truck with 12 miles on it and now i have all these problems. i just don't trust the truck and don't feel like it is safe to drive. the radio issue happened the next day after i purchased the truck...i am so sick of this
Last week on my way home from a long day of work i was driving on i15 in las vegas nv. as i was driving roughly around 75mph i started to hear a clicking noise then i heard a louder bang like something broke, the gas pedal would not work so i started to slow down and pull to the side. when i came to a complete stop the truck would not go into parking i turned off the truck and it it continues to roll so i pressed the emergency break. i got out to see what was wrong and my drive shaft was broken in half. the next morning the truck was towed to a ram dealer and the issue was but i was told that it would happend again because that is a common issued with ram 1500 single cabs with 3:92 gears and 8 speed transmission. if ram and chrysler are well aware of this problem why not fixed it. i'm scared that it will happen again as i was told and at that time i will not have factory warranty and will cost me a lot of money in order to fix a problem that should have been fixed by the automakers
Sometimes the truck won't recognize the key fobs. truck instrument panel will continue to display key fob has left the vechile and the chime continue to sound even tho i have the key fob in my possession. i can put the vechile in gear and drive but instrument panel will continue to display key fob has left the vechile and the chime won't stop sounding. (i have videos and pictures of this issue) . also when i used the speed control at a steady speed and than use the cruise control to reduce the speed when i come to a complete stop and press the gas pedal again the transmission shift differently. the transmission delay shifting engagement . (there was a recall on my vechile for the cruise control and at the moment my truck is in the dealer getting the recall done , transmission shifting problem looked at and getting the key fob electrical problem fix. dealer tech is trying to fix the problem . a request was made to corporate engineers for assistants fixing the problem. dealer and engineers are working together trying to figured the key fob problem.vechicle mileage approximately 11400.
The truck has a lack of acceleration. when you press down the throttle it takes 5 seconds or more for it to respond causing a major safety concern. so much that you cannot cross traffic and or accelerate up the hill where it declines in speed. i live in the northwest in colder climates was snow and i lose acceleration and traction when going up hills. i have been in numerous close calls. it has been to the dealership 3 * and chrysler says it operates on design because it is not throwing any codes for them to read. i want to know where a 5 second delay in acceleration is safe? i purchased the vehicle october 31st 2017 1st complaint and time to the dealership was in december and that continues to get worse the truck only has 6500 miles on it.
Concern #1: intermittently, upon initial start up, the engine makes a loud clattering noise as if it has no oil in it. the dealership was able to duplicate the concern once but it is not bad enough to repair. concern #2: while coming to a slow rolling stop (as if coming to a known stop sign) there is a hard bang/clunk just before getting to a complete stop, it feels like you are being hit in the rear by another car. as you slowly accelerate it bangs/clunks again hard. the bang can be felt and heard, and only happens on slow stops, not when you have to stop quickly. the vehicle is currently at the dealership for the third time regarding this same concern. the dealership reprogrammed the transmission and a transmission valve body was replaced but it has not fixed the concern. this bang is so bad that it is hard that i fear driving it in stop and go traffic.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. while stationary, the vehicle rolled backwards in the park position. the failure recurred on another occasion. the vehicle was taken to fayetteville dodge in fayetteville, new york 13066, but the failure could not be duplicated. the contact was able to record the failure on video and submitted the videos to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 14,000.
The vehicle jumps (bumps) when coming to a complete stop and the vehicles transmission is in drive mode. it does this also when releasing the brake from a complete stop with the transmission is in drive. this happens when stopping or taking off from stop lights or stop signs or in general stops or driving off. i don't want it to be an incident in the future. i don't want it to get worst and cause an incident by running into a vehicle in front of me or a pedestrian.
My truck rolled 6 foot backwards in my driveway. the vehicle had been parked at 9 pm the previous evening and at 10:56 the truck began to roll it took almost a minute and rolled approximately 6 feet in reverse. the truck was in park locked and empty. i have a video from my home security cameras showing this. the response i got back from my dealer said that i should be sure to apply the parking brake.
I sent a complaint to you on my vehicle last year in the summer about the transmission electronic shifter jumping out of drive and going into reverse while motionless resulting in an accident. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they said "no problems". i have since experienced several incidents of the shifter jumping out of drive and also not moving, just revving when you put it in drive unless you resift. i hope i can remember not to trust the shifter otherwise it could result in further damager, bodily injury or even death. when it first happened to me, had i not have jumped back in the truck after i had shifted it to park and got out, i would have been knocked down by the door and run over by the front wheels. again i just want to state that the jumping out of park happened several times before and after the incident. i have reported it to the dealer, as i said and i have the info on a ro. when i reported it to dodge there were a little evasive when i asked about ram trucks having a recall, the representative just said "the recalls are vin specific and there are no recalls on that vin". i was told to go to a dealer to have it checked.
When under acceleration in any gear, from 2000 to 2500 rpm there is a buzzy feeling vibration in the floor, gas pedal and steering wheel. taken vehicle to 2 separate dealers who claim "normal characteristic", however this issue did not start occuring until the vehicle had about 1000 miles on it.
Power steering motor failure while driving. steering wheel would lock while turning and in motion at city speeds - less than 45mph. highway speeds ~70 mph. total intermittent loss of vehicle control while in motion. engine would shut off momentarily, loss of all electrical systems, transmission would not shift, steering wheel would lock.
I motioned to put my vehicle in park with electronic rotary shifter, in a parking lot. vehicle was not moving at first. exited vehicle. started walking toward destination. noticed vehicle was rolling backwards. ran after vehicle. vehicle struck another car. vehicle came to rest noticed electronic rotary shifter indicating reverse. chrysler care case # 32683922. it has been three weeks so far. they are not returning my phone calls, nor have they contacted me at all.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. while the vehicle was started on a flat surface while in the park position, it rolled forward several times. in addition, while reversing, there was an abnormal spinning condition and the tires caught up to the motion as the failure occurred intermittently. the dealer (atlantic dodge chrysler jeep ram, 2330 us-1, st augustine, fl 32086, (904) 797-4383) was notified. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was less than 2,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. while the vehicle was parked, it independently shifted into reverse and struck a trailer. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the vehicle was in the process of being repaired by the contact's insurance company. the contact called fletcher superstore (3111 e 32nd st, joplin, mo 64804) who stated that they had not heard any complaints on the issue, but scheduled a diagnostic test. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or mechanic. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 2,500.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ram 1500. while the vehicle was shifted into park, it independently shifted out of gear. as a result, the contact was struck by the vehicle and pinned in the driveway. the contact's relative was able to get the vehicle moved. the contact sustained severe bruising and swelling, which required medical attention. the dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
While driving my 2017 ram 1500 laramie crew cab down a dirt road (approx. 25% grade) on a dry summer day, the truck seems to accelerate and then abruptly decelerate. the truck was in 4 wheel drive low and the transmission was manually placed in 1st gear. the transmission would hold the vehicle from going more than 4 mph on every other downhill area except for this longer stretch (approx 300 ft.). the truck accelerated to above 8 mph with the rpm's also increasing and than suddenly decreasing back to normal. i have been traveling this road for over 20 years with many different vehicles and have never experienced this kind of behavior from a vehicle. the vehicle was brought to the dealership and i was told that there is nothing that they could find wrong, but they re-flashed transmission. that solved nothing, every time i go down that same spot i have same result. supposedly fca engineering is reviewing issue, if this is to happen in the winter, i know that the vehicle has a very could chance of becoming uncontrollable since the truck would just start to skid when it slows abruptly. fca's response was to be patient. when i asked the dealership to have someone come out to the property so that i could duplicate this issue for them they declined.
I have already submitted a report & picture to you on 07/11/2017 regarding the rotary shifter knob not staying in park & rolling away in reverse demolishing my water well to my home. this exact same thing happen twice this morning 07/27/17 - i stopped the vehicle, put it in park (light above "p" was lit) the display stated "vehicle not in park" so i put it back in drive then back to park with the same display appearing. both times the indicator light above the "p" was lit.
Rotary gear shift knob issue. put in park, got out to close my gate, truck began rolling backwards went through my yard crashed into & over my water well. not the first time it hasn't held.
Vehicle has had 4 complete set of tires, plus 2.... vehicle starts shaking and wobble while driving at 68-72mph. ram refuses to look into this. something i think in drive line or rear causing all these problem. something is causing tire damage..out of round and radial run out. shaking and wobble have never stop with all these tires and balances. i have all ro's if wanted
File complaint with you regarding defective goodyear tires they were replaced and truck began to have violent shaking had wheels rebalance at dealer and violent shaking continued. return to dealer on 8/10/17 and test drive car to duplicate concern, concern was duplicated. mechanic found another tired out of round and defective along with right side rear axle defective. drove car approximately 1 hour and began to get vibration again at highway speeds. it seems like rear axle passenger side. seems like axle is heating up and causing vibration. ram complaint # 32177668. will return to dealer. this is an unsafe condition since they have problem with rear differential. needs to be investigated. car tires were rebalanced 5 times before done correctly. violent shaking was worse at highway speeds before axle replaced. passenger side probably defective also. car began to shake after hour of driving at 67 mph.... updated 09/20/17 *bf updated 11/2/2017*js
