We have classified the 22 complaints from 2015 RAM 1500 about SUSPENSION into the following categories.
Since december of 2018 my 2015 ram 1500 laramie longhorn has been in the shop a total of 5 times due to the air suspension failing. they've replaced the compressor on several occasions, replaced both front air bags, replaced fuses, compressor lines etc. most recently i picked up my truck after it was int he shop for 2 weeks, 2 days later the suspension failed again. i've been traveling down the highway at 70+ mph when the suspension suddenly drops to its lowest setting and begins bouncing uncontrollably down the road. i've gotten messages to service air suspension immediately after several occasions. i've lost a total of over 30 days of vehicle use which seriously impedes my ability to run my business as i depend on my vehicle for hauling materials etc. these failures have amounted to thousands of dollars in repairs. fortunately for me i have the lifetime warranty on my vehicle. while this has saved me considerable amounts of money, i've still paid over $1000 in deductibles only to have the system fail again. my truck has been in the shop in december of 2016, march 2019, april 2019, may 2019, november of 2019 and january of 2020, all for the air suspension. the vehicle will drop to its lowest setting and fail to raise after being parked, while driving down the road, overnight etc. whether driving down the highway or on local surface streets the suspension suddenly fails. there's no rhyme or reason to why or when it occurs. it is extremely unsafe and quite a disappointment after spending nearly $70,000 on a vehicle. this issue should be addressed by the manufacturer immediately before someone has a terrible accident. i've seen numerous trucks with the same issues at the dealership while mine has been in for repairs.
Air suspension is failing and not inflating
The air suspension fails in cold weather putting the truck into an unsafe position (leaning 30 degrees down on the drivers side). this can happen while driving and while stationary
The factory air ride suspension has failed due to cold weather and handling at highway speeds is marginal. i have reported to the dealer but the service manager tells me this is a known problem and there isn't a fix
Air suspension would fail frequently in frigid temperatures. first occurred winter of 2016.was a regular occurrence until receiving a software update. dealer told me the problem was a result of a software design flaw in the air suspension control module. they updated the software on 2-15-2019 (42,000 miles) and somehow felt justified charging me $90. chrysler sent a service bulletin (08-051-16) to the dealers on 4-23-2016 noting the design flaw and recommending the software update. i was not notified of the fix until after my warranty expired. i feel this is unsafe and very unethical.
The air suspension on my ram eco diesel 2015 pickup has failed. the vehicle was in motion when the suspension failed. i had to drive 25 mph on the highway just to get it back to town. this happened last winter also and was repaired under warranty. for 2 weeks the truck sat while ram tried to figure out what to do. the truck can not softly be driven until fixed. ram is aware of this issue and knows that the cold weather is causing the problems. what can the government do to force ram to recall the truck for safety reasons?
I turned in a 2013 ram 1500 because the air ride suspension system failed four times in five months. on october 26, 2018, i looked at 12, yes 12, trucks and settled on a 2105 ram 1500 rebel, also with the air ride suspension. on february 8, 2109, the air ride suspension system failed on the 2105 ram too! the 2015 is currently at the dealership. i have filed a complaint with fiat/chrysler. when this system fails, it feels like you are no longer driving on tires but logs which could cause someone to crash. the air ride needs immediate service alarm displayed upon start up on the 2015. the alarm displayed three times on the highway and once each on a residential street and while parked. the dealership was great with the 2013 but i have not heard what is going to happen with the 2015 except that the repairs would be $2,700.00. on both trucks, i was told, by the dealership staff, the left front air spring leaked and the pump & manifold assembly stopped working.
In cold weather the air ride suspension stops working. while sitting or driving the air bags lose all air pressure and drops all the way down to the bump stops. i am unsure exactly what is causing the exact problem but it is extremely unsafe because the truck bounces all over the road every bump you hit. i called my dealer and he said he has four trucks in his shop at the moment with the same problem. this needs to get resolved.
The air suspension warning message comes up every time it gets below 10 degrees, and the suspension bags completely deflated while going down the road. i had no suspension, just riding on the bump stops.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving 60 mph, the rear suspension's air system abruptly activated causing the vehicle's rear end to lift and the front end to drop abruptly. the contact dove to chris nikel chrysler dodge ram (2920 north aspen avenue, 145th east avenue & the b.a. expressway, broken arrow, ok 74012, (918) 940-6785). the dealer diagnosed that the rear compressor failed and needed to be replaced. the dealer also stated that the air bag compressor system may need to be disabled. the contact stated that the suspension had an air bag that was operated by the computer system and the rear suspension air bag failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
When i put more than 300lbs of load on the bed, driving at a speed greater than 65 mph drive over a pot hole or small deep on the road/highway the truck starts bouncing around, start at the right front side to rear left side, to the point that the anti-lock brake kicked in, it is so unsafe that we and my family got so scare, i thought the truck was going to roll over, it has happened in multiple occasions, very very unsafe. checked the shock absorbers not leaking, no broken coil springs, please look into it. it is unsafe, please do something about it before someone dies.
When below 20 degrees the air suspension loses its ability to maintain proper ride height. sometimes the truck will sit nose down, rear down, or all but one corner down. usually after sitting outside in the colder temps is when the truck starts to do this however once it has done so while moving at approximately 20 mph. when trying to inflate the air bags the truck typically blows the 40a fuse controlling the air suspension which renders it inoperable until replaced. seems to be a wide spread problem in any climate that sees colder temperatures. biggest issue is what happens if the system gives out while driving at any sort of speed.
I live in international falls, minnesota and our area recently sustained -30 below farenheit temperatures for an extended period of time. during this cold weather, the air ride suspension system quit working and i currently have no suspension. i am not the only person in the area that has had this problem with a dodge ram 1500 truck with air ride suspension. i spoke with another male on 1/2/18 that had the same problem with his 2016 dodge ram 1500 with air ride suspension. this problem occurred while the vehicle was sitting.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving approximately 15 mph, the contact heard a grinding noise emerging from the rear of the vehicle. the contact had to pull over to the side of the road. the contact also stated that the vehicle had just been picked up from the dealer after being repaired according to nhtsa campaign number: 15v661000 (suspension). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was invalid. the approximate failure mileage was 9,933.
A month after purchasing the truck, i received a notice of three recalls, air bags, left rear axel, and middle compartment door.
Front vibration when driving any speed on gas pedal and steering wheel and floor board. vary noticeable on dirt road that i live on. feels like something is going to break or come loose.
At speeds between 50 and 70 mph vehicle has excessive vibration that seems to be from the rear of the vehicle. had tires balanced by a tire shop and problem persisted. dealership replaced all four tires and wheels and the problem still persists. informed dealership of tsb sb-16-001-1, which is exactly the problem i have. they informed me they've never heard of the tsb. similar to other complaints filed and researched concerning rear vibration issues with 2015 ram trucks.
2015 ram 1500 sport 4x2 - when traveling on the highway at speeds above 65 mph, the rear end begins to vibrate/shake to the point controlling the vehicle becomes a concern. if you slow down it goes away but then comes right back when going 65 or over again. vibration is felt in the seat but not the steering wheel or pedals. was taken to dealership on 9/11 and tires were re-balanced. dealership stated that fixed the issue when it did not. going back to dealership on 9/28 to have it looked at again. this has been reported by many and needs to be fixed before someone loses control of their ram vehicle and crashes. if i were to hit a bump it would be very easy to lose control due to the horrible vibration.
Vibrations while driving ,noticeable in passenger seat, 50mph to 80mph mainly ,sometimes at lower torque uphill or around cones 50mph below, note all tires ,wheel balanced re road forced and new replacement tires , still vibrates, current odo 6 000 miles.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 40 mph, the front driver side axle and other related components completely detached from the vehicle. the failure caused the vehicle to travel out of the lane independently and side swipe another vehicle. the vehicle continued to accelerate and came to a stop as the front driver side collapsed to the ground. the front driver and passenger side tires were positioned inwardly. a police report was filed. the contact sustained injuries to both knees, but medical attention was not required. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 2,000. the vin was unavailable. updated 10/06/15*lj updated 12/13/2017*cn
Only had the new 2015 ram 1500 laramie for a couple of days when the first occurance of 3 so far happened. when traveling on the freeway and i back off the gas to cruising speed the steering wheel shakes extremely hard and throughout the drive train violantently feeling like i'm losing control. extremely scary and the truck only had about 400 miles on it when i purchased it about a month ago. i have an appointment for autonation to look at it august 4th. it was purchased fromtown & country in wenachee wa. the issues was reported to town & country when i went in to have the bed liner sprayed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 55 mph over a dip in the road, the rear of the vehicle began to sway to the right. the failure recurred each time the vehicle struck a bump in the road. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 1,300.
My vehicle has had a vibration at highway speeds between 65-75 mph since i purchased it. the vibration is annoying and at times i've had to slow down to reduce the vibration which i feel could become unsafe. the vehicle rides smoother than any other pickup i've ever owned at lower speeds, my expectations are for it to ride the same way at any speed. the vibration seems to be coming from the rear of the truck and can be felt in the seat and floorboard. the problem seems to worsen while traveling on highways with wide sweeping turns. i've taken it to the selling dealership twice, the first time they reported 2 of the tires were bad and were replaced. i took it back a second time for the same issue and was told they could not detect a vibration or find anything which could be causing one. the problem persisted so i took it to a different dealership. they balanced the tires, rotated them and claimed the problem had been resolved. the problem had not been resolved and if anything has gotten worse after the third attempt to correct the issue. i have seen this issue reported by others. i've had the vehicle at servicing dealerships 3 times and 2 separate independent national tire chains and the problem persists.
From day one i have had a severe vibration from the rear of my truck at speed above 60 mph it will vibrate the floor board and front seat and center console severely. after many discussions with ram and the dealer have agreed to replace my good year sra 275-60-20 with a new set of tires same type. to rectify the problem they did so on 8-28-2015 9950 miles it has made no difference. i brought this tsb i found here on nhtsa id number 10056977 service bulletin no. 16-001-14 to thier attention they say they have never heard of that tsb i am very concerned because after some research on my own it seems there are a growing number of 2015 1500's with this same issue. it it needs to be moved to a recall because it could be a hazard waiting to happen and it could be causing other damage to the truck. i am going by the dealer today 8-31-2015 to see what they are going to do now, vehicles today are to expensive to have these type of issues mine has been going on for 10000 miles and no fix in sight this is my 5th attempt to get the problem fixed.
