We have classified the 203 complaints from 2006 Nissan Xterra about FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE into the following categories.
I have 2006 nissan xterra that has the "ses" light on constantly. i have changed the gas cap. the light went out but recently came back on, i have 54k miles and now the light will not go out. *tr
2006 nissan xterra obdii error code p0463 - fuel level sensor a circuit high input: essentially, filling up your gas tank is not registered by the gas gauge, so you run the risk of running out of gas and getting stranded somewhere. the estimated repair cost is very high ... *tr
Error code p0463 shows i have a faulty fuel sending unit. previous year xterras were serviced for this issue. no recall has been issued. *tr
Recently purchased 2006 nissan xterra and have experienced the following problem: fuel gauge causing "service engine soon" light to be consistently lit. inaccurate fuel level being seen. gauge reads half empty when vehicle is actually empty. impossible to pass emissions check while "service engine" sensor is lit. contacted nissan and they are recalling and replacing fsu in "certain" 2006 nissan xterra but even though i have a 2006 nissan xterra my vin number has not been recalled. spoke to nissan and described the fact that my 2006 nissan xterra is experiencing the problems described in the nissan recall but they refuse to include my vehicle. *tr
1. had just filled up my gas tank on a road trip and the check engine light came on. 2. the fuel gage read empty even though it was just filled. it scared me as i thought maybe there was a gas leak. checked around and didn't see or smell gas so continued on home with shot nerves. 3. had the check engine code diagnosed and it read as a faulty fuel level sensor. upon further research on the web this turns out to be a very common problem which nissan has not recalled. it will cost $500+ to fix.
Fuel sending unit on a 2006 nissan xterra, malfunction. same model same year as current recall, but not covered under the current recall notice.
Many nissan 2006 xterra's recalled for fuel sending device not working, in other words, gas gage does not work. i was told by nissan that they are keeping records of thoe not recalled, may be future recalls. fuel gage does not work. their sonsumer complaint line said stick a stick down gas tank line to see if have gas, ridiculous. how do i have the same problem and not qualify for recall.
Tl*the contact owns 2006 nissan xterra. when the contact added gasoline to the fuel tank, the fuel gauge displayed that it was empty. when there was a quarter tank of fuel in the vehicle, the fuel gauge stopped working; therefore, she didn't know if the fuel tank was empty or full. she also noticed that the miles driven on the instrument panel displayed zero; however, when the vehicle was actually driven 50 miles the computer reset itself, and the fuel gauge also functioned normally. the manufacturer was contacted. the manufacturer stated that the vin wasn't included in recall 10v075000 fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxiliary. the failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 53,000. updated 09/07/10. *lj updated 09/14/10*jb
Fuel gauge failed and check engine light is on. when the tank is just filled, the level registers about 1/8 to 1/4. i have to refuel by odometer. this started about 3 weeks ago, i am on my third tank and it still does it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank has fail. the fuel gauge does not accurately show the level of fuel that was left in the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that they can repair the vehicle at the contact's expense. there was a recall nhtsa# 10v075000; component: fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxillary but her vin was not included in the recall. at 32,000 miles the clutch failed on the highway when driving 50 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired at a cost of $1500. the manufacturer also stated her vin was not included in the recall and they will not cover the repairs of both failures. the failure mileage was 53,000.
I went to fill up my tank with gas (was 3/4 empty). after fill up, the sensor light came on and the gas gauge continued to read 1/4 tank. *tr
After filling up the gas tank on my 2006 xterra the gas gauge read empty and the service engine light came on. i contacted the nissan dealer who informed me that this was not related to any recall. how can this be when i have notice many other complaints from 2006 xterra owners reporting the same problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. while driving at speeds of 30 mph, the fuel level indicator began abnormally reading inaccurate fuel levels. the check engine light then illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer advised replacing the fuel sensor. the manufacturer would not provide any assistance. the vehicle has not been repaired as of yet. the approximate failure and current mileages were 35,500. updated 05/19/2010. *lj
Having problems with 2006 nissan xterra fuel sending unit (fsu). the gas gauge shows erratic readings and the service engine soon (ses) light turns on. i pulled the code from local shop and the unit indicates po463 error code. nissan has recalled some vehicles over this issue (nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000) but my vehicle is excluded: http://www.nissanextendedwarranty.com/recalls/nissan/2006/xterra/nhtsa-19643.html. *tr
My 2006 nissan xterra has a fuel gauge problem. after filling up the fuel tank, my fuel gauge registered full. after a few days of driving, the fuel gauge did not show a lower fuel level. a few days later, the fuel gauge needle dropped all the way down to empty and the empty indicating light turned on. i had only driven 100 miles so i knew that the tank was not empty. a diagnostic check revealed that the fuel tank sending unit may be at fault. (my daughter owns a honda element and she experienced a similar problem with her fuel gauge and had it repaired under warranty.) i am driving the car and must use the diagnostic code reader to cancel the "service car" light. my code reader says that the fuel tank level sensor is the problem. my car has just run past its warranty period so costly repairs will result when i get the car repaired. could it be that the fuel tank sending units within the fuel tank were manufactured by the same manufacturer (japanese)? i read an newspaper article stating that nissan was to have a recall on this fuel tank problem but their reply to my email was that there is no recall forth coming. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. the contact was refueled the vehicle and discovered that the fuel level indicator had failed. the failure persisted. on one occasion, the vehicle stalled due to lack of fuel and the contact was unable to determine the fuel level. the dealer advised the fuel level sensor would need to be replaced. the contact inquired about nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxillary tank) and was told her vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 85,000. updated 08/11/10. *lj the consumer was first told the vehicle was covered under the recall, however when she went back to the dealer to have the repairs done, she was told it was not included in the recall. updated 08/17/10*jb
2006 nissan xterra fuel gauge not working properly its shows there is more fuel in the tank then what there actually is. it occurs on every fuel fill up. i have almost ran out of fuel while on the highway. i have contact nissan about the problem and was told that my vehicle was not on the recall list, and it would cost me $500 dollars to repair. the check engine light now turns on and off, i had the vehicle diagnosis and the diagnostic code was for a faulty fuel level unit. *tr
After filling up, the fuel gauge still reads empty and the service engine soon light is on. this problem will correct itself after driving for a few days. however, when a fill up is needed again, same problem persisted. i have only 39k on the vehicle which i purchased new and the dealer is now telling me that the fix is $400 - $600 for a new fuel sensor. the safety complaint i have is that you never know how much fuel you have and the possibility of being stranded is very real. after checking out many online forums, this seems to be a trend with later model nissan xterras, frontiers and pathfinders. a recall is badly needed for the fuel level sensor unit. *tr
The instrument panel fuel gauge showed that the vehicle has gas when the tank is actually empty, the vehicle ran out of gas and stalled in moving traffic causing a risk for an accident. *tr
Fuel gauge issue. the nissan xterra is exactly 3 years old and has about 48,0000 mile on it. a few days ago the check engine light came on and code readers says p0463 - fuel level sensor circuit high input problem 1) open or short circuit 2)poor electrical connection 3) faulty fuel level sensor. i searched the internet and it is a very common problem on nissan xterra's, pathfinders, and frontiers. i read there was a recall on older models but haven't confirmed it yet. this problem could lead to a problem as people run out gas when they don't expect too - or else they have to pay $600 to have it repaired because it requires removal of the gas tank. *tr
I own an 06 nissan xterra with 45k miles. after topping off my fuel tank with exxon fuel (not a discount fuel), my check engine light came on and the fuel gauge would not show full. after about 45 minutes of driving the gauge eventually crept to read nearly full, however the check engine light remains on. after some research apparently the fuel tanks sending unit is at fault and was a recalled item on nissan xterras produced before mine. *tr
2006 nissan xterra off road, 4x4. fuel level sensor or sending unit is failed causing the fuel level gauge to read incorrectly, or always read "empty". this could lead to running out of fuel at a dangerous time. i have spoken to many other owners of this vehicle and like vehicles in this range of model years who have had the same problem. some have had their repairs covered by nissan others have not. *tr
There was no indication of a problem until i topped off my fuel tank. i noticed the service engine soon light illuminate and the fuel gauge did not move. the gauge eventually crept up to near full after approximately 50 miles of driving but the light did not turn off. the same symptoms continue today. i took the vehicle to a nissan dealer and they diagnosed the error as a faulty fuel sensor. nissan advised me today that my 2006 xterra is apparently not covered by the current recall of the faulty fuel sensors. *tr
Failure of fuel tank level sending unit to accurately report actual fuel level in gas tank. fuel level sending unit will indicate full fuel, or partial full and then drop immediately to below empty will fuel remains in tank. *tr nissan currently has a recall campaign (nhsta #10v075000) on the fuel level sending unit for 2006-2008 nissan xterras, which provides for the replacement of this part at nissan's expense. however nissan denied my claim under this recall stating that my vin number was not covered under the recall. i indicated that my vehicle was exhibiting the same problem that prompted this recall and that my vehicle should be included since my vehicle obviously had the same defect. nissan north america refused to include my vehicle in the recall and i have been forced to replace the part at my own expense. nstsa should require nissan to include all xterra vehicles produced by them for the years covered under the recall, especially those that are exhibiting the identical problems which precipitated the original recall, and not allow them to exclude certain vin units simply because they wish to do so.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. the contact stated that the fuel level indicator failed without warning. the fuel level indicator would read empty when the fuel tank was full. the contact believed that the failures were contributed to nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxiliary tank). the failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 41,000. updated 05/12/10 *bf upadted 05/17/10.*jb
2006 nissan xterra. consumer writes regarding recall and requesting reimbursement. *tgw the consumer stated the vehicle had a random hard start and the check engine light illuminated. also, the gas gauge was not working. the mechanic replaced the fuel sensor. *jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. the contact was driving approximately 30 mph when the vehicle stopped unexpectedly due to a lack of gasoline in the tank. the fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading of "half full"; however, the fuel tank was empty. the vehicle had not been repaired for the malfunction. the failure mileage was 64,000. the current mileage was 68,000.
Fuel sending unit #25060-zzooa for nissan xterra faulty, sends incorrect information about fuel levels. subject to recall on certain vin#, but many more are affected. *tr
After filling tank gas tank today (approx. 1/2 full), i noticed that my check engine came on and stayed on. also, my fuel level gauge did not register that the tank had been filled. i checked the fuel cap several times to make certain the cap was tight - which it was. consequently, i went to firestone for a diagnostic test and discovered that the fuel-sending unit had malfunctioned. i was informed by the serviceman that the cost for repairs was $388. *tr
My '06 nissan xterra fuel sensor stopped working at 39,000 miles. i also got a check engine light soon that came on. $400 for it to be repaired at the dealership. *tr
Check engine light stays on and gas gauge does not register on 2006 nissan xterra. appears to be defective fuel sensor/sending unit. apparently, there was issue in past which led to recall on earlier models. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. upon starting the vehicle the fuel gauge would display an improper reading. the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where she was informed the fuel pump sending unit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified and she was informed her vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000, fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank. the failure had not recurred. the failure mileage was 53,188 and the current mileage was 63,000.
I own a 2006 nissan xterra. i went to fill up the tank yesterday and once filled the tank still registered empty. a few miles down the road the check engine light came on. the tank still reads empty. as a mechanic i know what the problem is, and from reading online i have found alot of others with my same vehicle have had the same problem. the fuel sending unit is faulty and needs to be replaced. i was informed that the part was not under warranty and feel that with the common occurrence of the part failure this could become a serious safety hazard. drivers have no way of knowing how much fuel is in their tanks. i believe that nissan should acknowledge the severity of this problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. the contact noticed that after filling up the fuel tank, the fuel gauge would move from full to empty. the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where they informed her that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced. she then took the vehicle to an authorized dealership where the dealer confirmed that the cause of the failure was the fuel sensor. the dealer also stated that her vehicle was not included in recall 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline storage, auxiliary tank) so she would have to repair the vehicle at her own expense. the contact called the manufacturer who confirmed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was approximately 55,000. the current mileage was approximately 63,000.
Fuel gauge not functioning properly, service engine soon light constantly on. *tr
I had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. after filling up my gas tank, i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. after performing a search, i came across many others who have experienced the same problem. apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600." *tr
Error code p0463 i had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. after filling up my gas tank, i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles. after returning home and doing research, i went online to x.nissanhelp.com after performing a search, i came across many others who have experienced the same problem. apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 3 years and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. the contact was driving approximately 35 mph, when the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel and the fuel gauge was inoperable. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the failure was contributed to the fuel level sending unit. the technician stated the vehicle was excluded from the recall under nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxiliary tank). the vehicle had not been repaired at this time. the failure mileage was 60,000. the current mileage is 65,000. updated 05/12/10.*jb
Fuel gauge showed 1/4 full and the car stopped with no gas. filled up from a container brought by my daughter and drove to the gas station to fill up. tank full and the gauge shows empty with the empty light on and then the ses light also turned on. took the car to get a reading of the codes and comes out has fuel pump sender unit which controls the fuel gauge. the solution so far is to control the gas using the mile counter. concerned about the possibility of the pump stop working while driving. 2006 xterra. 44k miles. *tr
Fuel-sending unit prone to failure on 2006 nissan xterra. shortly after purchasing my used nissan the fuel sending unit failed and had to be replaced last fall. less than a year later and the fuel sending unit is once again sending incorrect readings to the fuel indicator. even after filling the tank the fsu reads as 3/4 full and does not indicate properly as fuel is used. nissan has not provided a replacement part that fixes the problem, the replacement component is the same as the one that was installed at the factory and just as prone to failure. this could lead to the dangerous situation of running out of fuel in the middle of a busy road, bridge or rail crossing. nissan has recalled only selected xterras, but all 2005+ xterras use the same part. nissan says that this issue is a safety concern but has only issues a limited recall when many more vehicles are affected. *tr
I was driving and the fuel gauge showed a quarter of a tank of gas left, the vehicle sputtered and stopped. this is an ongoing problem, so i have to keep the fuel tank semi full at all times. i have contacted nissan and the response i get is there are no current recalls for this vehicle! *tr
6 months ago my 2006 nissan xterra service engine light went on and my gas gauge stopped working. i had a diagnostic check done and it is a p0463 code which is the fuel sensor. nissan wants to charge almost $700 to fix. after researching i found this is happening to thousands of xterras. i have called nissan and they admit it is a known issue there is no recall on it.
I stopped at a gas station to fill up my 2006 nissan xterra and after the fill up my gas gauge still read 1/4 tank. after a mile of driving, the "service engine" light came on. i brought the vehicle to aamco to have the code read. the error code came up as po463. aamco told me that this is a very common problem with the nissans and that i should review other cases on the internet. i have 47,000 miles on the vehicle and have read many threads on websites that show this being a common problem with nissans' around the same mileage. with the amount of problems that i have seen with this exact problem around the same mileage, i believe nissan should issue a recall, especially since the fuel level sensor is not covered under their extended warranty. *tr
My 2006 nissan xterra's service engine light is on. repair shop said diagnostic code is high level fuel sensor. gas gauge indicates either empty or half even after filling the tank. seems to be a common problem. *tr
Took car it because gas gauge (even after filling up) reads empty, took it in and mossy nissan in el cajon claimed they fixed it, but after having my car for about 3hs after the including checking out or diagnostic testing they gave me my car back and it dong the sane thing. *tr
2006 nissan xterra. i had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. after filling up my gas tank, i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank, the needle went to empty, and the low fuel light came on. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i assumed it was a fuel sending unit/sensor. after returning home, i went online and searched for this problem which lead me to x.nissanhelp.com and i read where many others have experienced the same problem. it confirmed that it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterra's, frontier's, and pathfinder's should also be recalled for the same problem. why wait for people to run out of gas and possibly cause accidents and deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600. *dt
2006 nissan xterra error code: p0463 fuel level sensor a current high input at 55,000 miles the fuel gauge sending unit malfunctions. *tr
2006 nissan xterra: fuel sending unit/sensor not working properly. gas needle fuel tank gauge is not registering full tank. check engine light has lit up. *tr
The fuel level sensor on many newer nissan trucks is going bad right after the 36k warranty expires and costs the owner an average of 400 dollars to fix. this issue causes the service engine soon light to come on and consequently cannot pass inspection without being fixed. i've seen many many cases of this online on bulletin boards and forums, and it seems to me this is widespread enough that it should be recalled. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. the contact filled the fuel tank but the fuel gauge still indicated that the tank was empty. the contact noticed that the fuel gauge would function properly before she turned off the vehicle at the gas station. the failure seemed to transpire each time she would fill the fuel tank. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired at the time of the complaint. the current mileage was approximately 67,000. the failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
