Driver side rear coil spring broke
The coil springs that nissan installed in my car due to the 2015 recall have, now, both broken again. this is a major safety issue. nissan consumer affairs refuses to help me with the cost of replacing these faulty parts because they are 'out of warranty!' i have been dealing with this issue since 2012 when the first coil spring broke, punctured my tire, and almost caused a serious accident. the car was in motion when the most recent break happened, i was turning out of my alley way onto the road.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan versa. while driving 30 mph over bumpy roads or potholes, the vehicle made an abnormal noise from the rear of the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. an independent mechanic was contacted to schedule a diagnostic appointment. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 60,000.
While driving in the freeway and on the street several occasions, my car was feeling as if it was going to die on me with low power. i felt really unsafe. one day, i was driving, the car was too weak, i decided to drive it directly to nissan dealership in cerritos because i knew that was it, i was going to definetly be stranded. i was there for about 5 hours and finally i was told that the coil needed replacement. less than a year, i was told the coil needed to be replaced again. i recently saw on kelly blue book website that the coil is a recall. i notified the dealer and i am told that it is not a recall.

Rear coil springs broke for similar reasons that the front coil springs break. (front coil springs are currently under recall). rear coil springs broke causing a flat tire. rear coil springs needed to be replaced to safely drive the vehicle; and the flat tire needed replaced. rear coil springs were not properly manufactured and coated. the vehicle was in motion, on a township road.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan versa. while turning the vehicle out of a parking spot, the contact detected a noise coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 15v573000 (suspension), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the coil spring fractured after the recall repair. the vehicle was taken to walser nissan burnsville (14750 buck hill rd, burnsville, mn 55306, (612) 395-4984) where it was diagnosed that the coil spring needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 81,000.

I live in the kansas city metro, on the kansas side, less than 10 minutes from the border to missouri. there is a current recall that applies to the front coil springs of nissan versas (nhtsa recall 17v-637) because the springs have insufficient corrosion coating. this current recall applies to missouri but not kansas. i drive my car in missouri all the time because of my proximity to missouri and my husband is employed in missouri. my front, right coil spring broke on march 17, 2018. the coil spring broke when backing out of my parking spot at my apartment in a lot that is relatively new and flat, meaning no pot holes. a loud bang was heard and when moving there was a loud creaking sound. after pulling out about 3 feet i pulled back in and turned the car off. i found a round metal object on the ground near the front with rust on it. it was flat on one end and broken on the other. after inspecting the front passenger side's wheel well i discovered that the remaining part of the coil spring had slipped off the strut lip and part of the coil was pressing hard against the tire. the appearance of the coil spring still on the car matched the one i had found. a mechanic and tow truck operator verified it was in fact the coil spring that had broken. the attached images are of the front passenger side wheel well with coil spring visible and of the coil spring part that broke off. *js
Takata recall i received a notification in the mail, called the number, but was told it will be until "spring" until i can have my car's driver and passenger airbags fixed. until then, instructed to drive my car.
We took our nissan versa into tynan's nissan (780 s havana st, aurora, co 80012) for the recall on the coil springs. after they replaced the coil springs on our low mileage nissan versa, the ball joint on the passenger side failed within 10 miles of them replacing the coil springs for the recall. when this happened it put my amanda and our child in danger. luckily they are safe and unharmed. jason at tynan's nissan service department initially apologized and said they would take care of everything and gave us a loaner vehicle, now 3 days later they are trying changing their story and trying to make us pay for the damage they caused during the recall repair. there is no way that a passenger side ball joint would coincidentally break on a low mileage car immediately after coil spring replacement unless they did something wrong to the vehicle to cause it. tynan's nissan is either not doing the recall repairs properly, or they purposely damaged our car for the purpose of taking our money. either way we feel they should no longer be allowed to do recall repairs if they cannot do them without causing damages.
I have 2 problems. the first is nissan claims to not support recalls on my vehicle because it has a salvage title. the second is that i was not informed of a recall on this vehicle for over 2 years. in 2015 i had a front suspension coil spring fracture. i thought this was unusual and went to the local dealer and bought an oem replacement coil and replaced the broken spring myself. in 2017 both other coil spring failed as well as the replacement i had bought from the dealer in 2015. at this point i researched the problem on the internet and discovered the recall on this part. i replaced the failed springs with aftermarket parts to get the car back on the road. i then submitted paperwork to nissan for reimbursement of the replacement parts. i was just informed by nissan that they will reimburse me for the cost because i have a salvage title. i am not aware that a salvage title removes the manufacturer from the responsibility for replacement parts. my other concern is that i was not informed about the recall in a timely manner. i did not find out about this recall until the springs broke. i still have the last two springs that broke in my garage. i also have pictures showing that the last spring nearly punctured one of the wheels when it broke. i have correspondence from alece at nissan that i can provide documenting that nissan will not support recalls on this vehicle because it has a salvage title. i can provide these emails if they are desired.
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2009 nissan versa. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v449000 (air bags), 17v028000 (air bags), and 15v573000 (suspension). the parts for the recall repairs were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator was illuminated. the contact was unsure of any failure with the vehicle's suspension. the contacted called suntrup nissan (6000 s lindbergh blvd, st louis, mo 632123) and was informed that the part for the recall repair would be unavailable until spring of 2018. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000. parts distribution disconnect.
Nhtsa # 16v349000 air bag, nhtsa # 15v573000 suspention. and tpsa tire pressure monitor. only issue far is with the tpsa. it stays on, after being resetted several times !nissan has no clue how to remedy this proble.passenger air bag has been turned off for safety, ha h ! thanks takata! nissan says there having problems getting right front sway bar. ya right!
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan versa. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle spun out of control without warning. the vehicle turned completely around to the point that the contact and her family were facing towards traffic. the vehicle crashed into the bushes on the shoulder. the air bags did not deploy. there were no injuries. a police report was not filed. the rim was bent over the rear driver's tire. the vehicle was repaired and the wheels were replaced by the contact's local mechanic. the crash was related to nhtsa campaign number: 15v573000 (suspension). the failure mileage was 100,000.
I received a recall notice saying that my driver side airbag made by takata needs to be replaced and that parts will not be available until the spring of 2018, and that nissan would supply me with a loaner car until the parts were available, when i talked to the dealer ship they said that i'm not eligible for a loaner because i'm only 23 years old, meaning if your under 25 it's ok to drive a car that could take your life. also i found out that my passenger side airbag and front springs have a recall on them that i was never notified about, so my question is are company aloud to leave unsafe vehicle on the road leaving me to hope nothing will happen because of my age? i have no tickets or accidents and i've been driving sense i was 16 years old. thank you [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*jb
Vehicle experiences knocking in the steering column at low speeds/stationary when turning the steering wheel clockwise and counter clockwise. this knocking symptom is amplified when vehicle travels over uneven surface at any speed. when braking at speeds, the steering wheel shifts violently in operators hands. rotors and pads as well as strut assembly was replaced in an attempt to correct the issue. symptoms continued after these replacements. tie rod ends and swing bars were later replaced with no positive results. this leave the assumption that the issue is related to the power steering system. possible defect in the rack and pinion steering unit.
This car has the nhtsa recall 15v-573 , which is for the front spring suspension. you guys have to do the rear recall for the rear springs because they've rusted. like in my car, they're rusted and it only has 56,890 miles. so my car is having problems with the rear springs. i'm sending the pictures that i took. thanks so much.
When backing car makes a moaning noise. i just learned of a recall for front springs coil springs. recall id 239045. your site says that my car isnt under it but should be. the car to my knowledge was first sold in florida. i bought it from carmax in va. florida was not one of the recall states but va is. we use road salt here. it seems to do it in hot weather.
My car is under 100,000 miles and failed inspection due to sub frame bushing missing. the mechanic told me these parts usually last for up to 200,000 miles. he also told me my tire could've come right off the car with this part missing. this could've cause a major accident or fatality! can you please look into this. i've down some research and have found lots of versas from 2007-2009 models have been having the same problems.
Front coil spring shattered tearing up front tire this exact problem was noted for versa in recall 15v573000 date 09/14/2015. my car was not included in the recall. it appears that the recall was to limited. after getting car repaired nissan has refused to pay for my repair costs stating the car was not included in recall. luckily i pulling out of my driveway when the spring exploded. i think the recall was to limited and i should be reimbursed to my expenses.
Heard a thunking noise from right front of vehicle when turning hard right or left. took to sears where i recently bought tires and had aligned and they said right front coil spring broke, and to take to nearest nissan dealer as they can't get spring. saw that 22 states and over 200k nissan versas were recalled already. nissan dealer said no recalls on my vehicle. i am paying for repair out of pocket. only 77k miles on vehicle. a coil spring should not break with this few miles. car was originally registered in idaho where salt was used. i live in washington state where it gets down below 20 degrees in winter. i should not be paying this out of pocket.
Suspension & bushing { cracked rubber } when taken in for front coil spring recall.
My vehicle has long time problem of springs. last time i was driving at 45 mph speed the front spring broke, causing severe damage of front tire. after long time nissan recalled front spring. but i have rear spring broke again . my rear spring broke after i try to drive from parking lot. i have talked to nissan north america they are not willing to help customer. broken spring problem is a part of nissan versa. it is dangerous and i cant trust my car.
I am a us marine serving in germany. nissan has been refusing to replace my front springs in accordance with the recall because i am not in north america. last month one of them broke on the highway. luckily, no one was hurt.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan versa. while driving at various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal noise near the front of the vehicle. the contact observed that the vehicle scraped the ground. the dealer diagnosed that the strut springs were fractured and needed to be replaced. the two coil springs and front struts were replaced. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v573000 (suspension). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the state was not part of the recall states. the failure mileage was approximately 79,457.
I scheduled an appointment and went to continental nissan 5750 s la grange rd countryside il on july 11, 2016. the dealership stated that if they believe corroded parts need to be replaced, i would be responsible for their cost. i spoke to [xxx] my case #[xxx], she being a representative of nissan assured me as the letter states: "this repair is free of charge for parts and labor." the discrepancy forced me to leave the dealership without repaid. two additional calls were placed to [xxx] on 7/11/2016 asking for coordination with the dealership in order to repair the vehicle. i had to wait three weeks in order to get the vehicle into any local dealership. the car is disabled with a broken coil spring and has been towed without repair. a seven year old vehicle exposed to illinois winters should have corroded parts. i reviewed the part cost through nissan with my vin and the coil spring cost is roughly $5.63 or $6.00. the additional parts within the front suspension vary from $11.51 through $354.20. the dealership mentioned a half day of labor in addition to cost of the suspension parts. the recall letter says approximately 3 hours for repair at no cost. why would i have to pay for a recall? the fact that the recall came 7 years after the 2009 manufactured car is very concerning. i ask that the car be towed at nissan's cost and repaired at nissan's cost immediately! i imagine that many other consumers have run into this issue and wonder if a class action suit is necessary to prompt the manufacturer to do as they state in writing and over the phone. i request an investigation of current practices of process and policies. i believe my human rights have been violated based on the impact of their business operations and services. thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Vehicle failed virginia sate inspection citing both right and left front ball joints needing replaced. this vehicle has just over 50,000 miles and it seems odd that both ball joints have failed at such a low mileage. with nissans recall of other parts of the front end this seems like another part failure.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan versa. while driving 15 mph, the vehicle made a clunking noise and began to swerve. the contact pulled the vehicle over and noticed that the front driver side frame was closer to the tire than normal. the contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the front driver and passenger side coil springs were fractured and detached. the coil springs and struts were replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls related to the failure. the contact found nhtsa campaign number: 15v573000 (suspension) that was directly related to the failure. the vin was invalid. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
A recall was done on the front spring coils. i took my car in to have recall completed only to find out my back spring coils are also damaged. i don't understand why the front can be recalled and the back coils are also defected the reasoning why they are not under a recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan versa. while backing out of the driveway, the contact heard an abnormal loud cracking noise under the vehicle. the contact exited the vehicle and inspected, but did not notice any abnormalities at that time. the contact stopped at a fuel station and noticed a coil spring under the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that it was not clear if it was the rear or front coil springs failed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000.
Loud clunking/popping noise coming from front of car while driving.
Nissan currently has a campaign open to replace front coil springs in northern states. my rear coil spring is also cracked/broken and nissan is refusing to replace it.
My nissan versa was recalled last year for faulty coil springs. the letter said that parts will be ready in january 2016. i made an appointment with my dealer to have the parts ordered and replaced. it is almost april 2016 and the parts are not available. i call my dealer once a month, they have now chosen to screen their phone calls and will not answer any service calls about the recall. i think that nissan is not prepared to handle this recall on the versa.
I have nissan versa since 2009.i bought it brand new from nissan of reno. since last year fron driver side broken coil spring.now it happend again on passanger side spring broke. i call deler to find out why did it broke both of spring with in one year. they have no answer
Driver side front coil spring broke while driving. appeared to be very rusted.
Coil spring rusted and broke.
My nissan versa was recalled for front springs to be replaced. i had already had the springs replaced because they broke. i was informed that i had to have the springs replaced again to satisfy the recall. the struts were rusted out, but were not part of the recall. i had to pay to have the struts replaced when the dealership broke them removing them to replace the springs. the struts and springs are one unit and should have been part of the recall. the springs did not need replaced. i was charged over $250 for a recall repair that was supposed to be covered by nissan.
The drivers side front suspension coil spring fracture in my model year 2009 nissan versa rusted/corroded and broke while driving on the highway at approximately 70mph. the noise was apparent and the car immediately began pulling slightly to the left. i pulled over to examine the vehicle and could not find any specific reason for the noise and continued home. i took the car into mccarthy nissan and was told that the front coil spring had rusted/corroded and cracked and that driving the car in that condition was extremely dangerous and required immediate replacement of the front coils.
Someone told me that there was a recall on my car for the suspension
On 10/15/2015 went to nissan dealer for routine oil change(mileage 50938)during inspection mechanic found both lower control arms o suspension bad and was replaced at the cost of $895.24 also 4 wheel alignment was was done at the cost of $109.95.when back home i look for recalls on suspension system on nissan versa and find out that there is recall on coil springs effective as of 09/14/2015.at the time of service i was not informed by the dealer about this recall and when i contacted them and ask when coils will be replaced i was told that they don't have parts and i have to wait till nov/dec 2015 for the coils to be replaced.do some research re:lower control arms failure on nissan versa and find that it may be related to coils failure as it is part of the suspension system interconnected to spring coils.corrosion of coils can cause the tension on the springs to fail and cause the other parts of the suspension to go bad like in my case.i my be lucky that coils on my car not broke off yet but for sure they all ready cost me a lot of money and may cost me more because the problem is not fix yet.get in touch with nissan but was told that even the arms are the part of suspension system interconnected to coils-the coils are not cause of arms failure.i do not agree with nissan opinion on this and i told them that i will file complaint to nhtsa. because of nissan refusal to accept they fault and solve the issue i do not have other option left but file complaint and make other nissan versa owners aware about the problem they may have with their cars as i did.
2 rear springs broke while driving in city (already had front springs replaced due to recall)
