1. 2004 nissan titan le 4x4, "slip" light illuminated and remains on. vehicle has 24,300 miles and had prior warranty repair of leaking rear differential cover gasket. 2. the obdii shows no codes. the :slip" light remains on which disables the vehicle anti-slip, vehicle stability control system. 3. inspected undercarriage and found left rear axle seal leaking coating rear brakes and wheel assemblies. researching manufacturer's history and suggestion for permanent repairs. *tr
Rear differential failure. attempting to cross traffic when rear differential broke internally and had to have vehicle towed from scene (nearly hit by oncoming traffic). this is a known consumer problem, that has been seriously denied by the manufacturer. several people have complained of having these units replaced several times!! the potential exists to have the rear wheels to become locked up in the event of a failure!!!!!! why has no investigation been opened?? several consumers have gone to aftermarket equipment replacement because of the high failure rate. this problem is happening in 2004-2006 model year vehicles!!!! *tr

I have a 2004 nissan titan,it has blown out 2 rear differentials. one was at 93,000 miles repair cost 2,900 dollars, and the other at 148,00 miles repair costs 2,600 dollars. the truck goes quickly from drivable to dangerous to drive. from research there is a defect in the differential venting design. you would think they should be responsible for at least the 2nd one. *ln
Rear differential started to pop and bind while turning under slight throttle. it occurred every time i turned. the dealership replaced the whole rear axle under the power train warranty. i wish it were a real fix and not waiting game until it fails again. *tr
Rear axle seals defective. leaking is bad whereas it is covering brakes. i have had it checked twice by 2 separate mechanics and the dealer and it was verified. i also conducted my own personal survey and found that 3 out of five titan and armadas owners had to have this repaired. *tr

Grinding noise from the rear of my 2004 nissan titan caused me to have it towed to the dealer. the dealer states that the differential is blown, and that new bearings and seals are needed to fix. the truck has only 71,000 miles, regularly serviced and has never towed a thing. *tr
I nearly rolled my truck yesterday at 75mph. the rearend locked up and i nearly lost control of the vehicle. i have since done some research only to find out that this is a huge issue with the 04 nissan titans! this could have cost me or another innocent person their life! now i am left to face a repair bill of $3500 for a new dana rearend, nissan and dana corp need to be held accountable for these cheap, unreliable rearends!!! please help! *tr
I hear a clunk from the rear end whenever i shift from reverse to drive, kind of like if a u-joint was going out. i also hear a low pitch whine at acceleration 50-60 mph, but don't hear it upon deceleration. i also have a rear axel leak on passenger side, and noticed that my rear diffs paint is peeling which looks to be from excessive heat. *tr

The axle housing seals were leaking on my 2004 titan so i brought it to a nissan dealer to have them replaced. the service member informed me that replacing the seals would not correct the problem. they had already tried on numerous other trucks and the new seals continued to leak. pence nissan replaced the entire rear end unit as they did with other trucks with the same problem. the replacement unit was not the same that came on the truck. i asked the service member why and he stated the original unit has been problematic. *tr
Vehicle is a '04 nissan titan. dealer reports that both rear outer seals are leaking and need to be replaced. *tr
Proceeding into traffic from side road and heard loud clunk, lost all power and was coasting in traffic, put in neutral then back into drive and would move, then tires locked up and almost caused accident. removed rear differential cover and found teeth from gears in differential case. has 71,000 miles on truck. at nissan now waiting to see if covered under warranty. *tr
Right rear axle seal has failed resulting in leaked differential fluid onto wheel and brakes. *tr
Left side rear axle seal leak on 2004 nissan titan. *tr
Left & right rear axle seals blew out and leaked differential fluid. differential fluid leaking on rear brake rotors which could cause brake failure, which was a major safety concern to me. at time of failure at 85000 miles no suspension modifications had been done to vehicle. also, the rear differential oil will slowly leak and cause the rear differential to lose fluid and fail. nissan refuses to replaced spacer axle (43070-7s200), bearing (40210-7s210), and seal (43252-7s200). as this seemed to be a very common problem with the nissan titan, nissan should address this issue and offer a permanent fix so would not be faced with the safety issue in the future. *tr
Differential failure (gears are popping and banging). some models have been known to lock up during highway use, mine has not as of yet as it is at this point inoperable in its current condition. no work has been performed as of yet, i am trying to get nissan to extend the warranty on this part, as it is a known problem. *tr
