Problems with 2014 Nissan Sentra POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2014 Nissan Sentra starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 68 865 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Nissan Sentra

Vehicle has been having transmission issues since 6 months after purchasing it in 2018. car rpm jumps up and down when driving. car shuts off when i'm park and left in idle sometimes, it takes a lot to turn left or right in the vehicle. had transmission replaced in the beginning of 2019 thinking it will fix it, but the issue still occurs. i've taken it to mechanics and they all suggested to contact nissan. i've spent almost 4,000-6,000 on repairs within the last two years. all related to the same issue

Cvt transmission failed and my car completely stopped on i-95 when driving speed was 69 miles. it was sudden. car jerks, no power to engine, car doesn't move. passenger safety issue. engine heat goes to 50% in 2 minutes.

The car first started skipping. then the tachometer raced and there was no gas pedal. then it started bucking and the tachometer raced. then there was nothing again. no power. we pulled into a gas station and it wouldn't go forward just sat with the tachometer racing. wouldn't go anywhere. we were just outside of nashville tn when this happened and we had to be towed 921 miles home. cost was expensive. is at a service station now being looked at.

Cvt transmission is slipping causing delays to power while driving the vehicle, delays to engage when accelerating, vigorous shaking when idling as well as while driving.

When i start to drive it's like my car winds up to 3-4rpms and i most of the time have to let off the gas for it to switch. it even got up to 5rpms and i even let my foot off the gas and had to turn into someone driveway.

After about 80, 000 miles i could hear my car having a difficult time progressing in speed especially on the interstate a rates of 60 mile per hour. currently my car is at 100,747 miles and i have to get the transmission repaired because today the transmission begin to slip and my car was jerking. this occurred while i was driving on the highway, so i got off the interstate and drove on the street home, and the jerking motion continued.

Cvt transmission is knocking transmission fluid changed by a professional when i am driving on the , i googled it this what i found out (april 16, 2017 ' a nissan sentra transmission lawsuit filed in new jersey alleges the cvt (continuously variable transmission) in the 2014 sentra is prone to shaking, jerking, sudden downshifts and other problems) on line there is lot of issue with cvt transmission.

Transmission issue when coming to a yield to take off again the car stalls makes a grounding noise. then it takes off . you have to come to a complete stop first so that it doesn't hesitate. does this when turning from yielding.

I have a 2014 nissan sentra that is having transmission problems, i have the cvt transmission that so many consumers are complaining about. i was in an auto accident on oct. 29th 2019 when my car lunged forward and rear ending the car in front of me. i was at a total stop (stationary) and my car lunged forward hitting the car in front of me causing damage to both cars. my car is not safe to drive as it lunges, jerks and rpm go up when idling. i am hearing grinding noises and my car jerks and drags when driving. i had it in the shop about a year ago for clicking noises and gear hard shifting, they covered up the problem and i paid the dealer $116 to lube my gear shift and struts.i still owe $4000 on this car. the nissan dealer wants to charge me $150 for a transmission inspection. i don't have the money, please help me before i get into a serious accident due to a faulty transmission. i believe there is a class action lawsuit for the transmission on 2014. thank you. cathy

When i turn air conditioner on, car begins to shake, slow down and makes straining noises. it resumes speed and quietens when air conditioner is turned off.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. the vehicle stalled while driving 65 mph the vehicle did not restart power train the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. the rpm's went down. the vehilce was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. the vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic, the determined transmission failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

Driving on city street car started making loud noises an started slowing down. thankfully i was almost near a friends home an pulled into their yard. had to b towed to parents home. transmission was the issue . i was fortunate to know someone near the incident otherwise it could have been really serious on the highwaycost 5000.00 i'm still paying on car owe 2500.00, a student, wrk full time no $ to fix, only 101 thousand miles but they will not fix???!! i'm not the only one with said issue with a nissan and respectfully need the car made correctly.

Driving car when stopped i heard some noise. after continuing the car became very sluggish and did not want to take off on street in front of cars. the car ran very so idling up and down dot to a automotive shop and worker told me it was the transmission.i was driving on a long rural route road. but notice weeks before when i turning it was loosing power but would pick up speed as it should.

Car stalls when driving in the street or freeway takes a long time to reach 20 mph and doesn't go past that transmission makes a rattling noise on 09/01/2019 my transmission gave out and needed to have my car towed home

Losing power/acceleration, severe jerking, sometimes cuts off and unable to accelerate. unable to go any further without turning the vehicle off / on and then only works for a few feet to a mile then it loses power and decelerates.

My car jerks, slow acceleration, fast acceleration, grinding, slipping of the cvt transmission.

Cvt transmission detective

The transmission just stop shifting gears

I am terrified. going up a hill my car loses power and i start coasting around 40mph and struggle to maintain the speed of traffic the highest i can go is 60mph. i have nearly been involved in multiple accidents as a result and often have to find a way to squeezes myself into the he truck lane although they still are able to over take me. my car has 50,000 miles and is well kept but it struggles so much going uphill i can feel the whirring and it's like my transmission is struggling to keep up while everyone passes me and tries to avoid colliding with me as a result of my sudden drop in speed. no matter how hard i press the gas nothing happens and i feel unsafe and feel i am a danger to other drivers on the road. this needs to change. this is unacceptable. i heard they attempted to fix the issue but there has to be something more that can be done. please look into this. you can even borrow my car if you'd like to test this out. i also feel it may cause excessive overheating.

Takata recall. cvt transmission jerk shruddering cvt code... was replaced under warranty. other transmission whistles snd starting to jerk again

Cvt transmission my car is only 5 years old and had less then 75000 mile and my transmission needs to be replaced. i have read many many complaints again nissan and due to the cvt transmission i feel they should be taken more action in doing a recall and paying to repair the problem. my rpm on the car flairs at 40 mile and jersey i am afraid to drive long distance

2014 nissan sentra broke down while in motion. (parking it in a spot in a medical office building lot. ) while trying to shift gears, to reverse and straighten out, it simply turned off. i restarted and it ran normally in "park" and "neutral," but stalled every time i put it into any gear. it had to be towed to a local shop where i was informed it would need a new cvt, and then towed to the dealer. i believe this car is a safety hazard because the problem occurred while the vehicle was in motion and it is only through luck that this did not happen on the road at speed. subsequent research online indicts these issue are common to the sentra and other models from the same company, that it has tsb's and also many similar complaints on this site. the car has also been to the dealer recently, who replaced the valve body and the cvt fluid, but the cvt failed again within 90 days. now, the whole transmission needs replacing and it's being done so, in my opinion' with full knowledge by nissan that it is likely to fail again. the car also had transmission issues in the past with the o/d off light engaging while at highway speed without my knowingly touching the button on the shift column. it is a safety issue to drive a car with a transmission that shuts down a car while it is being driven, or that shifts out of overdrive while at highway speed, without the driver making a concious choice to do so.

I noticed a few weeks ago that there was a delay while pulling off from a stop light. we were on the hwy and the rpms started fluctuating and the car started jerking strong . we almost got rear ended on the hwy as i was pulling over the check engine light and traction control light illuminated.

Car jerking sputtering and stalling while driving, found it hard to maintain speed. rpm control erratic. no recall , this is a very dangerous situation

Transmission has trouble shifting into gears and shakes and sputters really bad in low gears. it is now costing me 3500 to fix this issue with only 109000 miles on vehicle.

The transmission is jerking and slipping . it is a hazard yesterday almost got in an accident the car speed on its own after transmission slipped.

Transmission makes loud noise, dealer says it requires replacement. vehicule has 61,000 miles. it is standard. it starts esporadically in movement but continues when stopped. then goes away and comes back. sounds like a can of crackers

Takata recall. my car started to vibrate between shifting gears when accelerating from a stand atill. this happened when my car had about 89,000 miles. took it in the dealership and they diagnosed the issue to be the transmission. my car is still at the dealership. upon further research i found that nissan sentra cvt transmission is a common problem.

The cvt transmission on my 2014 nissan sentra (only 50k miles on it) suddenly stopped working and drive the engine to stop the vehicle while driving the vehicle with my family in the middle of the road. my mechanic checked it out and as it was expected, the cvt transmission broke down.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. while driving at an unknown speed and attempting to accelerate to 60 mph, the contact stated that it felt as if the gear shifted. there was no warning indicator illuminated and the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to grand prairie ford (972-975-9621, located at 701 e palace pkwy, grand prairie, tx 75050) where the technician stated that something inside the transmission caused the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 77,000.

Cvt transmission failure. causes jerking, shaking, shift failure and other problems.

Was not aware of the transmission recalls and we need assistance over 120k miles could the recall still apply

One night while driving home, speed was @ about 40 mph. total lost of power, pressed the gas pedal to the floor and not go faster that 5 to 10 mph. made it to the gas station, had it toad to my home. next day, when i turned it on, it was making a strange whining noise, drove it 70 miles total. @ the red light, total power loss again. the same scenario trying to make it back home, only 2 miles away. took it ot the nissan dealership and they replaced the cvt along /wthe battery/serpentine belt and one motor mount. my commute is 144 miles m-f. used the car only on tuesdays and thursday, to break-in the new cvt. noticed driving home the same exact issues before the total failure, hesitation when slowing down to accelerate, noise coming off the left front side, something trying to engage and slipping, then finally engaging. noticed again when slowing down in light traffic, the exact same scenario. it is currently @ the dealership to correct the issue. i have the receipt for the total cost of repairs. the vehicle @ the time of the cvt failure had only 80,000 + miles.

As we were on the highway, the speed started to reduce on its own. there was some vibretions.as we oushed in and went up a hill on the street, the car slowed to a halt. the car cut off 3 times. it would allow a start, but no gear changes. then, it wouldnt start. had to get a transmission as torque converter and other were out.

While driving on the highway my car would not not go into third gear. the car started jerking and i had lost all acceleration power. i was not sure what was going on because no lights turned on letting me know what was going on. had to get towed and was told that my transmission went out. there were no warnings or anything about the transmission going out. nissan really screwed people on this

My 2014 nissan sentra started to experience sudden shaking and issues with rpm's, it wont change gears and acceleration problems. especially when im at a stoplight, it won't accelerate properly. it makes a wirey sound and it only has 33,000 miles on it. i can barely go past 60 mph and it is a huge safety issue. i researched the problem and came across many others complaining about the same issues.

I bought this car for work 9 months ago, the cvt transmission is out, and nissan said they are not covering the transmission even though the internet is filled with lawsuits, and extended warrantys. nissan said the transmission was already replaced at 16k miles and they will not do it again even though the car only has 84,000 miled the car jerks, and shuts off when driving

Car is less then 100k miles transmission completely stops working leaving us stranded in the middle of on coming traffic during a turn.

Our cvt transmission just let go on a 2014 sentra sr with 89,000. it was slipping, bucking and stalling the car. towed it to the dealer said the cost would be $2200 to replace the valve body and a exhaust timing solenoid. if that didn't fix it, (i would have to pay $2200) it would need a new transmission which would cost about $4300. i called nissan corporate but they were of no help. they said it is out of warranty. they didn't even offer to pay 50%. i have seen a lot of problems with the cvt transmission something needs to be done. this is our 5th nissan. never will i buy a nissan vehicle.

Car started jerking so took it in to get service , a transmission service was done but mechanic made us aware that this was a common problem with the nissan sentra from 2013-2016 and that nissan have not done nothing yet . car is getting worst and i don't have the money to replace a 4k transmission as i am a full time student

Sensor/warning/check engine lights appear to not work. i was driving on the freeway when my vehicle started to shift erratically, the car would then barely move when pressing gas. after trying to accelerate more, the vehicle did not move at all. when the vehicle was taken to the dealership there were no warning lights such as a check engine light at all which made me believe there was nothing serious wrong with the vehicle. when it was inspected by nissan technicians, they said the transmission was completely bad and needed to be replaced. this is a serious issue if the transmission is faulty and the fact that there was no indication that something wrong cause me serious potential danger as i was stuck in the middle of the freeway, unable to move. because there was no indication that there was a problem with the transmission, this made it impossible to fix the issue early on so this could have been avoided.

Had my car on the highway oct.13,2018 for a 2hr trip...1hr into trip and my car knocked off the cruise control and began jerking with rpms jumping up and down. on return trip it did the same thing, but no warning lights ever appeared on dash. when checked, no red flags and after a day or 2 around town rpms did not jump. nov.22,2018(just a little over 1 month) i put my car on the highway for the same trip and within an hour the car knocked off the cruise control, began jerking and rpms were jumping up and down. on the return trip back, 1hr and a half into trip, my car lost all aceleration power..pedal to the floor and it continued to drop speed from 70mph to 45 before i turned on hazards and stopped on the shoulder. then finally the check engine light pops on! but my daughter and i were now stranded on the side of the busy highway. my car hit 75k miles during this 2nd trip, so first time was under 75k. after spending over an hour helpless, the car jumped back into gear and allowed me to drive it the remaining 20 miles, but once exiting the highway i could not acelerate to merge into street traffic and was almost rear-ended. there has been no mention of any cvt issues when i take it in for routine maintenance. now it's in need of repair badly! no other choice but to take it in to the nissan dealer asap. i've been loyal to nissan for many years having had a 1995 and 2002 sentra for years...i haven't even had this 2014 for 2 yet, and if being stuck on the side of the highway with a young child or almost being rear-ended due to loss of power to engine doesn't scream 'we need a safety recall' what will??

My car would jerk when going into second gear. it was slight at first. it didn't matter if i was starting from a dead stop or slowing to turn then accelerating. later on it began the shaking later accompanied by a whine. this began around 65k miles. there was no mention of any problems cvt issues when i took it in for routine maintenance. the rpms would jump up or drop down while driving highway speeds. now its in need of replacement badly because if i got off highway and had no pedal when i pressed accelerator taking it in to the nissan dealer

Vehicle was in motion and then suddenly as i turned out into the middle of the street it would not move! i had to push the gas pedal all the way to the floor just to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic. i took car to dealership and transmission is going out. i have only had car for two years. nissan knows that the cvt transmissions are defective and are still putting consumers at risk. at minimum they should be offering option to purchase extended warranty.

Transmission failure vehicle stalled out going down the road, could not move off road left helpless blocking traffic. 75,486 miles gets serviced at dealership only never once was did the dealership recommend a transmission service.

While operating under normal everyday driving on a city street a stop light the car just shuts down. had a new transmission put in at under 90,000 miles. and then it happened again. at a light, the car just shuts down in the middle of the road and won't move....*bf.. *tr

No recall yet but seen over 159 complaints of the season problem, 80000 - 90000 miles!! driving the car and it starts revving itself and r guage bounces from 2 to 3 and back down!! called to see what the problem could be and the mechanic said most likey the transmission and that this problem is too common! does not matter the speed you ate traveling!! this happened on the highway!

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced difficulty shifting into reverse. the contact took the vehicle to valdosta nissan cadillac (3685 inner perimeter rd, valdosta, ga 31602, (229) 242-7325) who quoted a repair cost of over $700. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 93,000.

Cvt needs to be replaced and car isn't even at 80,000miles

The transmission in my car went out. the car is only four years old. the check engine light came on and the car will not go pass twenty miles an hour. if i turn it off and back on it will run for a while, but if it stops at a light of stop sign, it will not go again.
