Got my oil changed, car only at 75,000 miles and 1 year old. the acceleration of my car just stopped while i was driving up a hill, the engine shaking uncontrollably. shortly after had it towed, and now it won't accelerate at all. cvt transmission completely went out.
On 7/30/2018 i was driving, when i came to a stop my 2014 nissan sentra sr with 54,000 miles on it stalled. i thought it may be a fluke, but kept happening. this only happened when in gear and at a complete stop. if i was in park or neutral it would not stall. took it to the dealership that day. found out on 8/01/2018 that the torque convertor is bad and they are replacing the transmission.
I was driving down the interstate at 75mph on the interstate and the car began shaking and rattling so hard i thought ny tire was falling off. i had to hit the brakes with a semi behind me and a semi beside me and try to get onto the shoulder from the left lane. come to find out it is the cvt transmission that nissan knew was bad in the first place
This 2014 nissan sentra has been in my possession since september 12, 2015. the issue started up on sunday, july 1, 2018. i noticed the car hesitating and "jerking" whenever i attempted to accelerate above 40 mph to reach highway speed. the problem increased dramatically over the week, and during my commute on friday, july 6, 2018, my car was resisting accelerating, rpm would jump up and down while attempting to get to highway speeds and acceleration seemed to be the most difficult thing to accomplish. on my way back home from work on friday july 6, 2018 is when the problem became blatantly dangerous. i ended up experiencing a sudden "drop" in speed on the highway. the car went from 65 mph to 30 mph and refused to go any faster. the rpm did jump dramatically at one point, from barely over 1 rpm leaping up to 7 rmp, though the car's speed did not increase. the car whined loudly when that happened, then it plummeted back down to the barely over 1 rmp. i managed to get the car back up to highway speed on a downhill portion of the highway, and got myself almost to my home. the car ceased to accelerate or even recognize i was pushing on the gas pedal after coming to a complete stop at an intersection 8 blocks from my home. i called my boyfriend who came down to assist a kind neighbor who heard me trying to get my car going by turning it on and back off numerous times to no avail. he thought it "simply needed transmission fluid", as the car sounded like it wanted to go....just couldn't "catch gears". this gentleman and my boyfriend ended up giving the nissan a push/running start after i started it back up and put it into drive. incredibly, this allowed the car to make the last 8 blocks to my driveway, where the car came to a very abrupt, halting stop after putting it into park. terrified to drive it, my dealership is nearly 100 miles away..leaving me sol.
Purchased my 2014 sentra brand new(124 miles) in november 2014. i keep up with reg scheduled maint because i use my car for work, i'm in sales. mid-june i started to experience a jolting from my car when i started to accelerate. once i reached 40mph the jolting and tugging feeling would somewhat stop, that is until i had to slow down and then accelerate again. i had my spark plugs changed, throttle body cleaned, engine filter replaced, and it still jolted and tugged. pretty much every year but 2014 is included in an extended warranty program from the crappy cvt. took my vehicle to a transmission garage and they did a diagnostic test. said cvt was bad, like all nissan transmissions, and that it needed to be rebuilt. the price they were going to charge was a little steep but it also came with a 3 year warranty, anything happens to the transmission in 3 years and they fix for free. i was talked into going to nissan to get a nissan certified diagnostic and pay $105 for something i already knew. they called me 2 days after my appointment to tell me that it was indeed the cvt , surprise surprise. i made a claim with nissan to see if i could get any out of regular warranty assistance for my 4 year old car that i still owe a lot of money on. after a week of waiting and $200+ dollars in rental car fees that i have to pay for waiting, nissan gets back to me saying they can offer a little bit of assistance. i guess a little bit is better than nothing but now i am force to wait 2+ weeks bc the dealership only has 1 nissan certified technician to work on 15 plus vehicles a day. there a 2 transmission jobs ahead of mine that have been waiting for a while and they did 6 cvt rebuilds last month. nissan or their dealerships do not support their customers with loaners and they are only offering a 1 year/12k warranty on their work. nissan is screwing all of us with this cvt issue!
I was driving down the highway in virginia and got off at my exit in woodbridge. when i got off at the exit, my car started revving, even though i was only doing 30 mph. my car then dropped down to 25 and the rpms kept revving. i'm in traffic, cars are swerving not to hit me because the speed limit is 40 mph. i ended up pulling into a shopping center where my car was still in drive but would not move when i put my foot on the gas. since i was in virginia to visit a friend, i drove my car with my hazard lights on for 2.5 (which took 20 minutes because i couldn't get over 25 mph) and parked it at his house. i ended up having it towed from virginia back to maryland the next monday. i bought my car brand new off the lot with 36 miles on it. i had already had my transmission replace with the 36,000 mile warranty (nissan had to replace it). this is dangerous. what if my transmission would have started stalling on 95 south? i might now have been filling this complaint right now.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate and started to jerk. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to passport nissan of alexandria (150 s pickett st, alexandria, va 22304) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred numerous times after the repair. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that she would be responsible for the repairs. the failure mileage was 79,000.
I'm not even sure of what's going on with my car but what i do know is that i never had a problem with my car until the 25 of may, i was driving my car and all of a sudden it started stalling as i was turning on the freeway and wouldn't take power so i had to stomp the gas to make it go then i pull off the road because it started running like something had broke i called a tow truck and had it towed and had my mechanic look at it and he said it was my transmission.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. when the contact pulled over, turned off the engine, and restarted the vehicle, it operated normally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (mills nissan, 3700 hwy 71 south, willmar, mn 56201) where it was diagnosed that the continuously variable transmission belt fractured. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they were unable to assist. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 67,000.
Complete cvt transmission failure at 91,000 miles. warranty expired so dealer wants $5,000. i've done all recommended cvt trasmission fluid exchanges but transmission failed.
When driving the vehicle i noticed a noise while accelerating. when i turned the wheel while accelerating it got louder and struggled to move ive only had the vehicle for three years. i had called the dealer to ask about my warrenty. they had told me that i was over my milage. so then i took it to amco to get it serviced and i find out the transmission had issues spent 2800. one year later i'm having other issues with the transmission. i'm not the only complainting about this there are other vehicles having cvt issues. i cant afford to put more money into this vehicle. almost done paying it off but having another issue i just want to get rid of this vehicle. please help!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated and shook violently. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was pushed off the road by another driver and the contact powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, but no failure code was found. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, while driving, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. the vehicle was pushed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the failure recurred. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 85,000. the vin was not available.
Transmission making a popping when you put into gear also reverse to drive.and when you slow down to stop and when you take of from a light or stop sign it make a popping sound..
Transmission failure while driving
Vehicle jerks when in drive, and hesitates to move forward. jerks when put in reverse and makes a loud noise like a jet engine when turned on. pulsates and jerks while driving over 35mph
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. while the contact's wife was driving 65 mph, the tachometer fluctuated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to moses nissan of huntington (5200 us route 60 east, huntington, wv 25706, 304-736-5291) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. the vehicle was repaired, but the remedy failed and the tachometer continued to fluctuate. the manufacturer was notified and stated that they would assist. the failure mileage was approximately 65,000. the vin was not available.
When i'm driving sometimes it's as though there is sluggish changing into gears.it's like it winds out too far as though it has transmission problems.this mainly happens when i'm getting up speed.nothing bad has happened yet.
Transmission completely stopped working while it was in motion. at 55,000 miles.
Was on a 5-lane highway (speed limit: 50mph) and could not accelerate effectively. the car began to violently surge and the engine began intermittent reving. luckily, traffic was light and i was able to navigate without causing an accident. upon starting from a light, the engine lagged trying to accelerate like it had no power. then it revved to redline without any acceleration. acceleration control was now completely gone on a 40mph road. thankfully, i made it to a two lane road out of traffic when it happened and coasted approximately a half mile home. car was towed to the dealership with 62,000 miles on it. they advised the cvt not repairable and needed replacement as they found pieces of the drive belt and washers present in the transmission pan. they said the factory warranty was 5-years/60,000 miles and would not assist. contacted nissan consumer affairs. they declined to assist stating they would not help because it was out of warranty, preowned and they could not locate service records. the dealership now wants $3,800 to replace the cvt. this is a dangerous problem nissan knows about and will not assist. it causes an immediate loss of acceleration control and near stationary traffic impedance.
While driving in evening interstate traffic, the vehicle started revving up. rpm indicator would surge to anywhere between 2 and 6 and vehicle would suddenly accelerate. after attempting to slow vehicle down by braking, car hesitated and had very low power. it felt as if it would cut off. it did not cut off. car was parked overnight and then towed to dealership. dealership stated that the cvt valve needed replacing. when pressed, stated reasons for this component going out was unknown and they were unaware of any other issues related to this particular problem. failure mileage 39724. after part replacement (under power-train warranty) car was driven approximately an hour on city roads before experiencing problems again. problems, while driving, included rpm surging to 6, with rapid acceleration and then major decrease in power. at stoplight, car felt as if it had cut off. gas pedal had to be depressed fully to the floor in order to move from stopped position (at stoplight). vehicle's sudden acceleration and decrease in power is a safety hazard while both interstate and city driving. rapid acceleration and loose of power could cause an accident. vehicle will be taken to dealership in the morning and a second complaint will be filed once they have gotten back to me.
Hello! i am the owner of nissan sentra, i have to report a problem to you, my 2014 sentra (vin: [xxx]) has problems. today (august 2,2017) 1:05 pm, when i drove out from the school parking lot, the gear shift rod is drive, but the car is back, and all the dashboard lights are lit up. i confirmed that in the drive once again, the car is still backwards. my classmate [xxx] had seen all, he suggested me turn off the engine, and re-start, the car return to normal. i am so worried about that if the problem in the driving, may cause a terrible car crash, i am scare ,i have no dare to drive this car, i hope you can investigate clearly. thank you! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
When you are trying to excellerate the vehicle will rev up the engine and will not go unless it jerks into gear. the check engine light is on and it says its the clutch pressure plate the car only has 62,000 miles on it and has been doing this for a year. dealership says it will cost thousands of dollars to fix.
When a transmission on this car (nissan sentra ) broke down on me it locks up where you can no longer move . it happened to me on a freeway and almost caused a major and if not a deadly accident on the freeway the car will then shake and it doesn't allow you to move out of the way.
Transmission was replaced under warranty. new transmission has a continuous issue with a trans axle leak that is "repaired" at every dealer oil change. vehicle now out of warranty. trans axle leak remains which makes it unsafe to drive.
About a week ago, my car started making noises when idling, which i thought little of because my car only has around 76,000 miles on it and is well taken care of. over the next few days, the noise became a full-on rattle (like an amplified version of bike gears grinding). when driving, the car will lurch forward and will jerk even harder when turning. within the first few minutes of driving each time i use the car, it has no power and feels as if it wants to "pull back" and hinder me from moving forward. i've taken the car to two mechanics and have had the transmission looked over. both mechanics believe that the transmission is the underlying problem. after researching cvc transmissions on other 2014 sentras, i've discovered that many other owners have had the same issue with even less mileage than my own car. many of these sentra drivers felt unsafe driving their vehicles. i too, feel that continuing to drive my car is a hazard to me and other drivers as the faltering and jerking of the engine are unpredictable which could cause a potential wreck. nissan sentra transmissions from 2003-2010 have been recalled to the best of my knowledge, but not for the succeeding years of the same model. *tr
The transmission had a catastrophic transmission failure after 25 months of ownership and 82,000 miles. car is undriveable. my tow truck driver said he sees this all the time with nissan's cvt transmission failures. nissan declined to provide assistance with the cost of repairs because my car was 22,000 miles past the limited powertrain warranty, and because this year sentra is not part of any current transmission recall. it is my hope to call attention to a product that might need to be recalled, as it is my understanding this is a common issue with these vehicles. consumers who buy nissan sentras are often budget-minded, and a repair that exceeds $4,000 is not expected at 2 years of ownership, nor should it be.
First issue happened couple months after i bought it on 12/27/2014 purchased new only 18 miles on it on 5/10/15 i took it in for maintenance because the driver side tire was making a wierd clicking noise when i would stop or turn. second issue now is the transmission jerking as if slipping running out of gas my car is still in new.condition is barely 2 years old it should not have had all these issues my car was in motion wgen it began to stall on an intersection it was very dark and dangerous on rheir multipoint inspection they stated my fluid levels were good but my transmission fluid was not.it turned out to be empty
Mt vehicle since i bought it with only 3 miles has when coming to a stop start to shake vigorously brought it to the attention when i had my ac compressor replaced at only 50,000 miles , mind you i do drive my vehicle alot 125 miles a day and its all highway but i also maintain it regularly// the vehicle going at 65 miles per hour the other day started to hesitate and rpms started to jump higher and lose power on a main highway during the afternoon in san antonio where traffic is bad i had my little girl and that loss of acceleration and jump /clunk almost caused me to get rear ended by a 18 wheeler which honked at me and scared my little girl// after research on this make and model i have found that there has been numerous complaints in the same regard same issue risking life and safety due to a fault that nissan knows about due to recall they set for 03 - 10 years and models using the cvt transmission now my vehicle is a 2014 and after research see that many consumers are put in the same dangerous situation and have complained only for it to fall on deaf ears. i am now scared to drive a vehilce that i still owe on due to having my 4 year old in with me
My transmission has gone out twice since i purchased this vehicle in june 2015. in october 2015, my car wouldn't accelerate. i took it to the local nissan dealership in which they told me that it was electrical wiring from my tail lights to my brake. 3 months later, my car has the same symptoms. i take it to the local dealership again and they tell me that it's the transmission and eventually, after several weeks of conversing back and forth, they finally agree to replace the transmission after my car won't shift out of first gear on my way home from school, around 10 pm, on the bypass going about 35mph all by myself. it took approximately a month for the car to start being symptomatic, yet again. i take it back and drop it off for about 3 days. they can't find the source of the problem without a service engine light on so they tell me there's nothing to do and they send it back to me. this happens a few times within a couple of months. several weeks go by with the car still being symptomatic and not shifting gears correctly. the car keeps jumping and won't drive correctly so i finally take it back to nissan, after calling about the problem and them telling me that nothing can be done until they see a service engine light on the car for it to throw a code. today, october 3, 2016, i take it back to columbus nissan and about halfway there, it won't shift. it then wont accelerate once i off of the bypass so i had to literally roll into the parking lot of the nissan dealership. they then tell me they can't do anything really because the service light isn't on and the service men are at lunch. tiffany, an employee of columbus nissan, offers me a ride back to my apartment and to leave me car there for them to look at it after lunch. they later call me and tell me it's my transmission out yet again. they're waiting to hear back from the nissan usa business.
I am part of a b17 sentra (2013-2015) owners page. the amount of people who need replacement cvt is outrageous. examples include one needing replacement at 9k miles, and a second at 24k miles. another example is one owner needed one at 28k miles and another at 52k miles. the failure percentage is out of control and nissan does nothing to rectify it past the short warranty. these issues should not be this prevalent in such new cars.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. while depressing the accelerator pedal at 55 mph, the vehicle failed to respond and stalled. the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle overheated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cvt failed and needed to be replaced along with the seal o ring, the trans axle, the core return, and the pen cotter. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred two additional times. the vehicle was repaired both times. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 20,183...updated 10/04/16 *bf *tr
The transmission failed when starting from a stop at a traffic light in city traffic at 67000 miles. the replacement failed under the same conditions at 69000 miles.
Vehicle constantly jerks when driving, stalls and slow to accelerate; transmission replaced with negative results. problem continues to exist. *tr *js
My 2014 nissan sentra has issues with acceleration. at various times even with the accelerator full pushed down, the car will not accelerate and will eventually slow to under 20 mph even on a flat surface. nissan has repaired the issue once, but now will not respond to my correspondence in regards to the issue, now the car is out of warranty and is having the same issue, i have less than 45k on the car. in addition, the tails lights are retaining moisture, i have read that this may be causing a short in the electrical system and may be the cause of the problem. i am afraid to drive the car and it is now parked in my driveway. this has happened multiple times and the problem still remains unresolved. mileage at the first incident is approximate, but it did happen less than a year after purchasing the car new.
With no event associated, my transmission began to shutter and rattle when i slowed to a near stop, then accelerated. i took it to the dealership when it was still under warranty and asked to have a technician take a ride with me to hear the noise and feel the rattle. the transmission rattled four times as we circled the block. his answer was "that is nothing, some times that happens when the road is wet." i told him that it happens wet or dry and he again dismissed it as "nothing to worry about." well it is not 'nothing.' the shutter/rattle occurs when i slowdown into a turn, then accelerate. or if i am on a straight-away and brake, then accelerate it will shutter. i have read many complaints that sound too similar to be a coincidence. my wife is affraid to drive the car and i am concerned for our safety.
About a year and half ago my car started acting like the transmission wasnt wanti g to pull when i question the dealership i am told thats just how the varible transmission works. it has only gotten worse. i bought the car brand new i woyld not have bought it if i would have known about the transmission problems. i can not afford a car note and to fix the transmission. why are there previous years recalled and not the 2014?
Transmission judder, including shake, shudder, and vibration. slow, shuttering at acceleration. long time to respond to input from the pedal. safety hazard when trying to merge onto a busy road. clanging and rattling noise. downshift problems. these issues are ongoing and started at 50,000 miles.
While driving 65 mph with cruise control on, the cruise control cut out and my car started slowing down. i depressed the gas pedal but the car continued to slow down to about 45 mph, then started slowly gaining speed. after work, i drove home without incident. next day was foggy so not using cruise control. vehicle slowed down again from 60 mph down to about 45 mph. also got no response when depressing gas pedal. this time the traction control light on the dashboard came on. drove home after work without incident. i had gotten the oil changed the day before the first incident happened. i had no previous problems prior to that. the issue seems to have resolved itself as the car is running fine now. if it occurs again, i'll have it checked out.
My daughter parked on a slightly inclining driveway and was exiting the vehicle. she heard a grinding noise and the car started rolling backwards. she jumped back in the seat and attempted to stop the car but states " the brakes wouldn't work". the car was off and the keys were in her hand. the car rolled almost 100 feet before her still-open driver's door hit a parked suv which stopped the car before it rolled out into the street. the door was bent completely backwards and has to be replaced. the car is undriveable until i can get it repaired. i will add that i bought the car 1 month ago with 6651 miles on it. carfax reported a minor rear end accident that i should have been more wary of! *tr
Transmission is not changing the gears correctly . when driving on a city street or highways and pulling off from a complete stop the vehicle drives off as if it is pulling a load and then when it should be changing in the 2nd or 3rd gear it starts to slip out of gear as if it is going in neutral and then you feel roughness in the changing of gears.
While taking vehicle to dealer to el paso casa nissan for drift/ pull and constant input to keep in center line on windy day and trany on up hill failure from a dead start. my wife's vehicle stall and shake almost like engine will shut, almost on stop on braking. happened.twice, first at stop light about half mile away from my house, second at gas station about 3 miles away. a/c on. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan sentra. when the vehicle was started or while driving various speeds, it shook intermittently. the failure recurred four times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 500.
