Problems with 2018 Nissan Rogue UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2018 Nissan Rogue starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 11 504 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2018 Nissan Rogue

Vehicle begins to shake roughly when going 55mph or more. the wobble even made my seatbelts lock up. seems to be coming from around the tires maybe the suspension. the suspension looks just fine, didnt seem loose, yet at highway speeds feels very dangerous! nothing noticeable while driving through town.

As i was driving to work, the stationary portion of the panoramic sunroof suddenly exploded and shattered. it sounded like a gunshot and there was a hole in the center of the sunroof. i was not near any other vehicles and nothing struck the car. it spontaneously exploded. this problem should be fixed before someone is hurt.

Emergency braking system is breaking by itself specifically on highway speeds consistently after ~1 hour into a trip. first, brought the vehicle to be fixed around two months ago after multiple breaking attempts at highway speeds. almost caused a crash because my car started break checking people behind me. the breaks kick on for around a second, then kick off. this happens around twice, which then the car says the front radar is broken and turns the system off. after bringing it in the first time, same results happened. brought it in a second time earlier this week. tech confirmed system errors with "c1a16 codes". drove it after bringing it in a second time, and same problem is occurring.

My backup camera would freeze about 2-3 seconds after putting in reverse. it didn't matter if i was still moving or stopped, it would freeze. it was happening every time i backed up. eventually the live view would come back, but i could never trust the screen or the sensors while backing up. i recently took it into a dealership for a diagnostic, and they said there is an update available to the software to fix it. i would guess my car is not the only one with this problem and want to report this so that if others are having the same problem, the software update can be covered by nissan. similar nissan/infiniti models are doing a recall for a software update to the cameras; i'm not sure why my vin is not included in that campaign.

The automatic emergency braking system has malfunction many times - at least 10 times in the last year of ownership being january 2018 through november 2019. the most recent specific incident occurred on november 22, 2019 at 12:20pm in clear daylight while driving on paved road, city street, not turning. the rate of speed was approximately 15mph and caused the vehicle to immediately stop. this is very concerning due to the high possibility of serious injury if the malfunction were to occur at a high rate of speed.

While driving my car, highway or side streets, i get a number of different warning lights, all dealing with my tires and braking system. i took my car to the dealership, and was told there is a recall on the abs. i check my car in for repairs, waited, left and supposing everything was back to normal just to get on the road the next day and get the exact same problem. took it direct to the dealership, just to find out all they did was just reprogrammed my car to get the lights off. at this point and time, the ser vice department was closed, so i returned the next day, waited for 4 hours just to find out 'it's going to cost me $300-500 and 2 hours ' to repair but they don't have the part. all of this started on saturday 11/09/2019.

I pulled into my driveway, put the car in park and it started to rev out of the blues then the check engine light came on.

I was driving to work this morning at 6:25am about 35 mph on a major road, not highway, when the automatic vehicle brakes stopped the car suddenly. the brakes showed up in the display. there was nothing in front of me, clear road, no rain. i was shaken up a bit, the brakes released

The backup camera freezes up or disappears while backing up.

My nissan rogue has experienced the same issue 3 times in a 2 month period. 1st time - driving, crossing a busy intersection front end shuddered, shook heavily, check engine light came on. i was able to drive it to local mechanic who ran diagnostics and stated there were too many codes regarding the electric system and recommended i take it to dealership. took it to local dealer, diagnostics were run again, and they reported they were not sure of the issue, suspected damage to the maf sensor (which was then throwing off the report of all other sensors). they replaced it with nissan manufactured part and electric tape and i was told it was good to go. 2nd time - stationary making a left onto busy main street, car shuddered, stalled, no check engine light completely stopped. unable to drive it, when changing gears it just coasted backwards (due to the hill i was on). had it towed to the same dealer, told the same thing as previous visit 'not sure what's wrong, probably the sensor,' was told they replaced it again with nissan manufactured part and 'taped up real good this time.' however could not guarantee it wouldn't happen again, also still no idea what exactly caused the stalling. 3rd time- driving straight after being stopped at res light, car stalls, engine light back on, and unable to drive it. the car coasted to the nearest shoulder and now waiting for a tow truck to take me to a different dealership, whom hopefully can fix the problem that continues to happen.

Maintenance-'other' light comes on after starting auto. service tech 'disconnected' warning without detecting what warning was about. auto was in for regular service. service adviser was contacted next day with zero return calls within two days.

The car stops while accelerating even though no car in front or back. there was a beeping sound. it already happened twice.

Sparatic forward emergency braking light on while driving and no other vehicles around. also check engine light : stating oxygen sensor needs to be replaced. car was bought new. it is under warranty and dealership is unable to diagnose and correctly fix.

Forward emergency braking light sporadically coming on while driving. car has been taken to nissan dealership and has not been properly diagnosed or properly repaired. car has also thrown check engine light causing the oxygen sensor to be replaced. lost trust in reliability, security and dependability of my new vehicle. nissan does not appear to competent enough to fix my suv.

Aeb system randomly alerts or engages while driving even with no obstructions. error says "unavailable front radar due to obstructions" no obstructions are visible on road. occurs while driving 10-20mph or 50+ on highway. second complaint, infotainment system randomly restarts/reboots on its own during the day.

The car's automatic emergency braking system brakes suddenly without warning and randomly. it does so without any obstacles or obstructions visible, or when vehicles are in the vecinity while driving. this proposed safety feature in actuallity has made these experiences feel it as unsafe. i have had this problem for a year and a half. to remedy the situation i have turned off the automatic braking feature off, since it does not work. and on the contrary it actually makes the suv feel more unsafe.

Takta recall. my 2018 nissan roug sport lock up when i try to start it up. when i push down on my brake petle it does not recognize my key pad and my car will not crank. the car was stationary.

The car brakes unexpectedly and skid. this has happened twice and there were no vehicles in front of me . there was no reason for the car to brake and stop on its own. this happened as i was exiting the highway and was make a turn on a city street.

The automatic braking system engaged for no reason while traveling forward at 30mph. this happened on a city street with a slight decline and no cars around the vehicle. there was a sharp deceleration accompanied by a grinding sound. this lasted a brief second or two, then the vehicle resumed forward motion. the vehicle did not come to a complete stop. this is the second time this has happened with this vehicle. the last time it happened (the first week we had the vehicle) the dealer replaced the distance sensor. obviously there is still a problem.

While driving on 3 separate occasions the automatic emergency break option that is on was activated on its own bringing my car to a stop without an emergency stop in front of me. on all three occasions i was in motion 2/3 times over 30mph. i was driving on a city street in el paso tx and on a military installation in corpus christi, tx.

Tl* the contact called on behalf of his daughter that leased a 2018 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to engage. the vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle. the contact sustained some minor bruises which did not require medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to the storage facility of the tow truck company. the vehicle was not repaired. neither a dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 15,000. the vehicle was destroyed. the vin was not available. *dt*jb*as *tr

While driving; a bug or some small object?? hitting the anti collision sensor will activate the brakes without warning usually when driving over 30 mph this has happened at least a dozen times at no set pattern

2018 nissan rogue - out of the blue, dashboard light flashes "warning malfunction" and the emergency brake light icon comes on. the vehicle also by itself started braking making it hard to drive. there were no cars in front of me. i turned the car off, waited a few minutes and turned the car back on and the warning light was gone. this happened again a few days later while i was driving, again, no cars or anything blocking my way - car is braking on its own. taking car to dealer for service to be looked at - saw similar issues having been posted on the web.

I was driving down the street one day no one around me, no object, was not on auto control, and my car automatically brakes on its own while driving. had it done that while it was a busy road it would of caused an accident.

Aeb (automatic emergency braking) disables itself automatically. the system turned itself off when i was driving at 40mph. the system thinks there is an obstruction when their is nothing in front of you. this defeats the purpose of the system to stop you in an emergency. make nissan change the radar. this is a safety issue.

Going up a ramp in the parking garage, the automatic emergency braking engaged with no obstruction, causing my vehicle to suddenly stop. car behind me did not expect sudden stop and rear ended me.

Reverse seems to get stuck in neutral, wont reverse, had to go forward and reverse again.also since purchase of car radio back up freezes. dealer just says record issue .not repaired

Twice i have gotten this error (see attached photos) while merging onto interstate in march 2019 i only took photos the first time and once i have had the brakes automatically attempt to stop the car on a regular road in july 2019. i did contact the local nissan dealer and was told my car was not in the group to have repair.

I was travelling in my vehicle when i came to a red traffic light and stopped. once the light turned green, i proceeded to go forward when my vehicle seemed to slowed down on its own. when i stepped on the gas pedal, it seemed the vehicle didn't want to move forward. the other issue is that this morning i was driving in my vehicle when all of a sudden some sensors seemed to be set off. i then pulled over and turned of the ignition. i was then able to start my vehicle and proceed to my destination without another occurrence.

My nissan rogue 2018 has an issue with the forward collision avoidance. i started experiencing this problem as soon as i bought it in march 2018. the first time it happened was on a normal road, i was driving at about 40mph and just crossing an intersection the car emitted few beeps and slowed down for about 3 seconds and then went back to normal speed. after that episode i took the car back to the dealer on march 30th to check it. the result was that there was no error code and all was working as normal. i took the car back and the same issue happened few other times. when passing through that same intersection the same issue happened maybe other 5 times. it usually happens in intersections when passing below traffic lights. just 2 days ago on the 4th it happened inside a garage when i was going at 20 mph. i am seeing a lot of complaints on this and nissan is not doing anything. i like the car but i cannot keep it with this defect.

Takata recall. i brought a brand new 2018 nissan rogue in april of 2018. my engine light came on and the car only has 9000 miles on it. i took in to the dealer and they claim the light is on because a rodent chewed the wires belonging to the harness. at 1st i was given a loner vehicle and told my transmission was having problems. on friday i took the car to the dealership. they were very unprofessional from the beginning. now 4 days later they tell me a mouse ate my wires and that's not something they cover for a harness and now they want to reverse the charges for the loaner car making it a rental. also my gas gauge off and on displays empty and the car is full of gas. my car is driven everyday there is no way a rodent if any type would even ever survive i'm my car. this is utterly ridiculous. nissan just does not want to repair the vehicle. they told me it's not there problem it's a machine and they break down.

Ice shield build inside all windows. the ice shield was so thick that it took an scraper to break it down. i was impossible to drive this vehicle. the nissan rogue has 1859 miles. (new purchased).

I purchased a new 2018 rouge 12/17/18 with 57 miles on the odemeter. on the way home the breaks engaged for no apparent reason on the highway. the next morning the breaks engaged several times for no reason and a breaking malfunction warning came on. i took it back to the dealership for repairs. after picking it up on the interstate going 75 mph the breaks rapidly engage nearly causing an accident. i have read on multiple sites this isn't an isolated case- nisson is going to cause a death if they don't take action.

The lift gate for my 2018 nissan rogue does not stop coming down when you hit the close button. it will crush you! it does not stop no matter what! it came down and hit my pregnant wife directly in the head! this is extremely unsafe!!!! i am beyond upset about this issue!

On 12-3-18 i purchased a 2018 rogue sv awd from swope nissan in elizabethtown ky with 1 mile on the odometer. five days later (12-8-18) the cd player overheated and stopped working. the cd became so hot that i had to use a silicone oven mitt to remove it!

I started noticing the headlights not turning on upon start up in my garage, they have been set on auto turnon since i bought it in august. driving on cloudy, overcast, foggy days not turning on. nov.22, approx. 6 pm, started car, could see that headlights were on with drl on. put in gear, backed out, on a city street, drove down street on headlights went off. had to park, turn vehicle on/off, turn headlights on/off manually before they came back on. they were set on auto when this happened. took it in to dealer nov.26, they said no recalls/updates and working. took off, drove 15-20 minutes and the dash/radio/headlights all blinked off then back on.??? obviously this is a major safety issue when they go off in the dark and i'm driving. radio/maps issue. the radio randomly stops playing. one time touched maps button to turn off and the whole thing froze up. radio not working, maps not working. i was driving down the highway/or city street when this happens. totally random events. after it had been turned off for approx. 20 minutes, restarted car and it was working again. on nov.23 radio quit playing again. i've already taken it into the dealer 2 times for this issue. drove straight to dealer, setup to take in nov.26. they checked it no new updates, opened technical ticket and was told they would call me. called me later that afternoon, said nissan aware of the issue and working on a fix which could be new update ( no good), maybe replace the radio or the computer in the car. no dates given as to when this might happen. told just go ahead and drive it.this has happened multiple times when driving. what with this radio issue and now the headlight issue something needs to be done.

While moving at both highway speeds or speeds between 20 -40 mph, the emergency braking system would engage without warning and without an object in front of the vehicle. this would cause the brakes to engage, the vehicle to shudder until i could re-take control, and an error alert on the dash board. the dealer's recommendation was to turn off the radar assisted emergency braking every time i got into the vehicle, as it was a "flawed technology". after multiple events and trips to the dealer, they replaced the part and updated the software.

Multiple occurrences of car tire pressure monitoring system warning light appearing on dash and it seemed the brakes were going on too, without being applied. but i didn't believe that could happen on its own. it happened one time on expressway but i thought i must have hit a pothole (car was pretty new then) and happened multiple times on surface streets. dealership told me tire pressure was not even and that sensor was very sensitive. why the car was braking was beyond me, but was attributed to uneven tire pressure. it happened again and this time tire pressure was at 33 psi on all tires (recommended number on each tire), so i brought it to dealer again. this time it was thoroughly examined and i was questioned thoroughly on the situations when this happened. the collision monitoring system unit(s) were replaced. car had 9,800 miles. the tire pressure monitoring system was fine. scary situation and i must admit i'm apprehensive to be driving it still. but, it's a lease so i'm committed. i should find comfort in the fact that the parts were replaced, however, i'm not yet comfortable. so, i thought it needed to be reported so others can be aware. *dt *jb

Vehicle was being driven down the road at approximately 45 mph by my wife with no other cars around and the moonroof just exploded. luckily the inside cover was closed so glass did not get all over the car or hit my wife while she was driving.

My safety braking system engaged when there were no other cars around me. there was nothing on the roadway either. i was going 40 mph on a straight level road in a suburban location. the alarm started to go off and the car suddenly braked. it felt and sounded like i was driving on speed reducing pavement. i did not come to a complete stop but it decreased by speed to about 15 mph. it was frightening and luckily no one was behind me because it certainly could have caused me to be rear ended.

The system automatic emergency breaking to avoid or lessen collisions activated yesterday while i was on interstate 64, to my knowledge, for no apparent reason. there was a tractor trailer in front of me, approx. 7 car lengths, and a car about 4 car lengths in front in the right lane. the mileage was at 774 and a notification came up about a radar obstruction and aeb deactivated automatically. i'm concerned other users have had this issue as well starting at or around 700 miles. earlier this week, i had to break hard to avoid hitting another vehicle on 64, and aeb was not deactivated and never once activated. a mere 100 miles later it's like it has become sensitive and has done it multiple times since the initial instance (just yesterday) i referred to above. i hate to deactivate as i purchased a new rogue for its safety features.

On two separate occasions, i was driving approximately 40 mph on a highway and my 2018 nissan rogue stopped suddenly and then started again. there was no other vehicle directly in front or behind me. the first time it happened my mileage was 3000+. the second time it happened i was driving approximately 20 mph in a residential neighborhood. my mileage was approximately 4,200. on both occasions i was going in a straight direction. my vehicle has also alerted me multiple times that there is a malfunction with the crash detector. i have uploaded a picture.

On three different occasions my car has beeped like someone was in the way one of those occasions breaking pretty abruptly with no vehicles around as a cop went by and i was downtown at night i explained this to the service at chico nissan and was told one other customer had complained but it's just a signal being sent out and there's nothing they can do i don't feel like this is a very safe feature if it's going to slam my brakes on when no one's in front of me especially because someone may be behind me and not expecting my car to abruptly stopped for no good reason

Purchased rogue with 7 miles on it. on drive home, the radio/navigation display continuously reset itself until unit overheated and completely shut down. this repeated itself every day until brought it to dealership and they said it was probably due to a bad radio unit and will replace it.

The back up camera freezes up when backing. bought it new may 5, 2018. nissan corp told me the have no fix for it. that it was not a safety issue. was backing up ,car was 2 weeks old and hit a tree. had to pay to fix the bumper. i then took it to nissan . they had it for 2 week could not fix the back up camera

Takata recall: my front sensor goes off and 'beeps' at me when there's nothing in front of me, my back up camera freezes while in reverse and goes black, and my entire screen goes black occasionally. when my sensor goes off, it has done it while at 70 mph while on the freeway and even force braked for me. i bought a brand new car and pay a lot of money monthly to have this car, i expect it to work accordingly. i've taken it in multiple times and i basically get told 'tough'.

The automatic emergency braking system incorrectly activated under a false-positive situation resulting in the brakes being applied while crossing over a bridge. luckily, there wasn't a vehicle following me, or else there may have been a collision.

On 2-3-18, i bought a new 2018 nissan rogue from ed hicks nissan in corpus christi, texas. this car had a hands free system that allowed calls to be made and answered without touching the phone. it worked when we bought the car. in late february, the calling portion of the system failed. we are unable to place calls without dialing the number through the phone. the hands free system does not work as advertised. we are unable to comply with the hands free laws of the city of corpus christi even though we were assured we could when we bought the car. the dealer has been unable to fix the problem which they now say disables the hands free system in most 2018 rogues. they suggested that i complain to nissan, which i have. my nissan case number is 30966074. my original complaint was escalated to a young man named zachry. his phone number is 615-725-7633. he was very nice but provided no answers. now he won't return my calls. i left messages last friday, 5-11-18 and monday, 5-14-18. he has failed to return my calls. i asked the dealer to replace the system under my warranty. the service manager, robert trevino 361-227-5771, says nissan will not authorize the repair. i am at my wits end. nissan will not fix the problem or replace the bad unit with a new one as it should under warranty. i am unable to comply with the laws of the city of corpus christi and am placed in the position of being a distracted driver if i have to make a call while driving. i ask that you force nissan to repair or replace the hands free system of my vehicle before i injure my self or someone else.

Navigation / radio reboots while driving requiring reprogramming.

Brand new 2018 nissan rogue that has around 2,000 miles on the car: automatic emergency braking system engaged when driving straight down a country road where no other car was present. an audible warning sounded and the vehicle slowed down on its own. since the incident, an error light for the automatic emergency braking system flashes on the dashboard with an audible warning, then disappears. all the incidents have occurred driving straight down a country road when no other car is in front of my own, and this has occurred six times over the last five weeks.
