Problems with 2016 Nissan Rogue AIR BAGS

On average, the 2016 Nissan Rogue starts to “feel” problems with the AIR BAGS and its various aspects after 20 437 miles.

Recently reported AIR BAGS problems on 2016 Nissan Rogue

About at least half of the time that the front passenger seat is occupied by an adult, the indicator light is on saying that the passenger side airbag is turned off. the vin has no current recalls so it appears that the previous owner must have taken care of the previously issued recall for this problem, yet it is still continuing. it has happened at all speeds.

There was an accident where the car was hit in the front left drivrs side, damage from the door all the way to the front. car was pushed quite a few feet into another car. the air bags didn't go off. head and face made contact with the drivers side window. the other car involved deployed the airbags. our vehicle was in motion on a city street going straight. *dt consumer stated we received word on friday october 11th that the car cannot be fixed and is a total loss. we brought it to the walser glass and collision in bloomington minnesota. our insurance company, esurance, is going to send the car to be held at a scrap yard while the finalize the total loss. i am attaching photos of the accident and the car.*jb

My passenger side air bag light turns on even though there is a passenger or not in the passenger seat. i could be driving alone and it is turning on and off.

The srs light on my 2016 nissan rogue went on. when i took it to the dealership, they told me they need to replace the airbag to try and solve the issue which is very costly. they told me there is a 50/50 chance this will fix the problem. i have an extended warranty which excludes anything to do with the airbag system. the airbag system should not be having issues this early on in the car's life. there has been no accident/collision. i definitely think this has to be a defect with the car itself. and i'm responsible for the costs out of pocket. this is clearly a safety issue.

Tamar recall - the passenger airbag light shows that the seat is unoccupied when someone is in the seat. this happens intermittently.

While entering a left turn lane (unsure of speed as was slowing for the red light), vehicle bumped a curb on the driver's side. did not go over it, brushed against it. no body damage except some scraping on the rims of the wheels. the tires remained inflated. however, the sensor detected it as a side impact, and driver's side airbags (not the steering wheel, just the side) deployed, injuring and disorienting the driver. vehicle was under control, and driver was in no danger until airbags deployed. was taken to dealership where they asserted that the sensor acted properly as there may have been a roll over (then shouldn't all of the airbags deployed?). the sensor is way too sensitive and dangerous as i was severely disoriented (and may have briefly lost consciousness) from the airbags and am lucky that i or someone else was not more seriously injured. following the incident, the insurance agent, the tow truck driver, etc. were shocked that the airbags had deployed in this situation. brushing curbs is well within the normal parameters of driving and should not have caused the airbags to go off.

The airbags on my 2016 nissan rogue never deployed. i was driving 65 mph on the highway when i had a sneezing spell. my eyes closed and my arm jerked the wheel during the spell. my car turned into the breakdown lane off the side of the highway. it happened so fast that i never even applied the brakes. my car plowed through the thick woods and trees for over 500ft at full highway speed.. finally coming to rest after making head on contact with a big tree. when my car was being towed out of woods, the tow tuck driver found the airbag sensor broken off underneath the car. i have included several pics from the accident scene and from the tow yard where my car was brought. you can clearly see the damage to the car from the force of the impact. the resulting damage resulted in the car being a total loss with insurance company . pictures showing the inside of the car reflect the fact no airbags ever went off. i also included a picture showing the broken off sensor sitting on my hood. by the grace of god i was not seriously hurt in the crash. but i and reporting the crash because the next person may not be so lucky. there clearly in a design flaw. you would think if the sensor brakes off, that would automatically release the airbags. clearly not the case in my accident.

Tl* the contact owned a 2016 nissan rogue. while driving 10 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side bumper of the contact's vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. the contact sustained a concussion, which required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed destroyed. the local dealer was not contacted for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to a dealer, but the contact did not. the failure mileage was approximately 30,000. the vin was not available.

Takata recall air bag hazardous. light is on on passenger side indicating trouble. also, the vehicle seems to loose power during acceleration while in motion.

I see 5 recalls for my car but i get letter from the manufacturer for 2 recall but i do not know what is other three. after i get the letter i went to the dealer and the fixed the air bags. as soon as i drive the car 10 miles, the same thing happen again passenger site air bag sign always show up. 2016 car not cooling properly only the fan running in the car when i turn on a/c.

Front passenger air bag disabled light intermittently turns on, indicating air bag is disabled, while that seat is occupied. this occurs while in motion, and at any arbitrary time or speed. there is a similar recall on this, but evidently this vehicle is not included, as it is listed as no recalls.

I purchased a 2016 rogue from cool springs nissan on 11/16/2016 and took delivery on 11/17 2016. upon arrival to take delivery we noticed that the ars light was on and contacted the salesman to see what the problem was, he took the new vehicle to the service dept. and was told that the unit was safe to drive so we took the vehicle thinking we were ok. i came home and read the manual and realized that the airbags were actually not going to work if we were in a wreck. i called the dealer service dept. the first thing the next morning and was told to bring it in on 11/19 and they would try to fix. upon arrival at dealer we were then told that the vehicle should have never been allow to leave their lot. they put us in a rental. they returned the car to us 11/22 and we guess it was fixed ( the lite is not on). is there not some kind of law that would keep dealers from putting people in danger?

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2016 nissan rogue. while the contact was traveling through a green light, another vehicle went through the red light and crashed into the rear of the vehicle. the driver's side air bag deployed. the front passenger side air bag failed to deploy. a substance emitted into the interior of the vehicle when the crash occurred. a police report was filed. the driver sustained whiplash, head, and back pains. the front passenger sustained whiplash, back, and hip pains. both occupants received medical treatment. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). the vehicle was towed to a repair shop and the body damage was repaired. the contact was informed that a specific part needed to be ordered, which was on a national back order with the manufacturer. the vehicle was towed to a dealer months, but was not repaired because the dealer was unable to receive the repair parts from the manufacturer. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact was waiting on a response from the manufacturer to provide the part and a repair solution. the failure mileage was not available.

Please read documentation on the recall of my car. i did my best to take care of the recall that you authorized.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan rogue. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the passenger side, regardless if the passenger seat was occupied or not. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the contact submitted a lemon law claim, which was denied due to the fact that the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

The passenger side airbag will not show activated under a certain condition. the condition is - if the driver buckles in and starts the car and puts it in gear before a 115# passenger gets in and buckles in, the air bag on the passenger side will not activate. i have to stop the car and turn it off and restart to get the airbag to activate. nissan in tennessee(800-877-647-7261, case #22914533) says this is normal. i find this to be dangerous, please advise.. a simple solution is to write in to sense a seat belt connection and activate the airbag.

My vehicle was recalled for an airbag sensor problem. i brought it in for the repair and now the airbag 'off'' light for the passenger seat is on. i called my dealership and they said that now the airbag light will stay on until a passenger weighing 120 lbs or more sits in the seat. the airbags will not deploy if someone under 120 lbs sits in the seat.. they didn't mention this when i was in for the recall and it seems quite dangerous. the manual indicates there is a problem if the light is still on 10 seconds after starting the car. they told me to disregard that it will now be on until someone over 120 lbs. sits in the seat. can this be right? if so they need to tell people that there's no airbag for people under 120lbs. a lot of adults weigh less than 120lbs and i'm sure not many people are aware that they have no airbag protection. thanks for your consideration.

When an adult passenger is seated in the passenger seat, and the vehicle is started, the airbag off indicator will remain illuminated on some occasions (without any discernible reason, such as seating position). sometimes, when the airbag off light has incorrectly illuminated, the light will then shut off when the vehicle is in motion (with the passenger still seated in the same position) at no discernible interval of time, distance, or speed. this problem has occurred on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times daily. the dealership examined the vehicle on 1/8/2016 and states there is no problem that they can find and that they cannot replicate the complaint. however, airbag off problem is ongoing.
