Problems with 2015 Nissan Rogue AIR BAGS

On average, the 2015 Nissan Rogue starts to “feel” problems with the AIR BAGS and its various aspects after 29 439 miles.

Recently reported AIR BAGS problems on 2015 Nissan Rogue

I got a warning on my dash. i looked it up in my owners manuel and it said there was a problem with one or all air bags. if i were to get into an accident they would not deploy. i will be making an appointment to get it checked out.

Supplemental airbag sign came on at 58000 miles and will not go off. manual says to contact dealer since potential concerns it may not deploy in an accident. dealer want to charge $150 for diagnosis + for repair. a safety related item should be covered under warranty.

Driving down chemawa rd ne, then a vehicle heading in the opposite direction turned left onto chetco ct ne right infront of us. my vehicle was traveling at 30mph when we impacted the other vehicle. no air bags deployed on either driver or passenger side and seat belts did not lock up causing passenger to hit the dash board with their right arm. other vehicles side air bags did deploy.

Driver airbag registers an error code. nissan could not tell me why and wanted $650 more to 'try' to diagnose it with no guarantee.

I have a nissan rogue select 2015 4 wheel drive. the airbag light on the dash started blinking for no apparent reason. this car has not gotten into any accidents and has less than 45,000 miles on it.

Purchased used car. airbag light is on with adult passenger in passenger side seat. nissan said this vin was not part of recall. they said cost to repair is $2000 and it's not covered under warranty.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. the contact stated that the front passenger air bag warning indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the contact was concerned that there was a defect with the occupant detection system. the vehicle was taken to midway nissan (located at 2209 w bell rd, phoenix, az 85023, (602) 635-6512) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

On 7/2/2018 i was on a highway and a van pulled out across my lane and i could not avoid hitting him behind the drivers door. i was going 45-50 mph and none of my air bags deployed. i turned slightly to the left to lessen the blow. my damage was all of the front bumper, hood, busted radiator, passenger side door, front right wheel, passenger side mirror. glass was on the dashboard from something. i'm not sure about any mechanical issues yet although i'm sure there will be many. i had warnings going off al in the car. i was injured in my chest, sternum, neck and shoulders. i was thrown forward and back and to the side violently. i cannot believe none of my airbags went off. i could not breathe and was very scared. i went to the hospital and am still healing from this. i could have been killed if my sternum or rib had of broke or punctured something. i feel this was a fast enough speed that something should have deployed. this could keep my vehicle from being totaled and i don't want it back. i don't know what type of airbags mine has or if there was a recall. *tt

Takata recall the air bag light stays on

Passenger airbag light stayed on, indicating that airbag would not be on or active, while passenger was in vehicle. passenger was approximately 140 pounds. airbag malfunction occurred when first entering vehicle and light stayed on. thus far, occurred two times with two different passengers. have photo documentation. this vin is not listed on the air bag recall, however there are still issues occurring. seeking for nissan to repair the malfunction of the airbag sensor/ light.

While driving with an adult passenger in the front passenger seat, the front passenger airbag status light showed that the airbag was turned off..

I just received a post card stating that there has been a class action lawsuit alleging that nissan sold vehicles that contain defective airbags made by takata corp. so i have until jan 8th, 2018 to make report. well, due to the fact that i am from a non-profit organization and we bought a 2015 nissan rogue and still own it, i need to get it into a dealership and have this recall fixed. but i am also short staffed at this time. so, now what am i to do? can i take it in on wednesday, jan. 10th, 2018? please get back to me asap. thanks, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *pm

Airbag error light issue, recalls don't cover my vin number even though there is a problem.

Takata recall got notification in mail

Even though the reprogramming recall work for the passenger airbag was performed at my nissan dealer on 6/20/16, the passenger airbag disabled light intermittently stays on while my wife is sitting in the seat and i am driving (car is in motion). she weighs approx 125 lbs.

Original recall performed by local dealership did not repair the problem. nhtsa recall 16v-244, ocs passenger airbag light stays on after passenger seat is occupied. this is an intermittent problem. it usually occurs when passenger sits on seat after car is started. i had it to the dealership six times in the first year after the recall. i bring it back to the dealership twice annually for inspection and oil changes. they ask if there is anything else and i tell them the passenger airbag light still stays on. i'll pick up vehicle later and they say no trouble found. i have videos (that's plural) of my wife sitting in the seat with the light on and us driving. i can send those if you want them. the last time i had it for service the service manager said if it happens again drive straight up to dealership. uhh, my wife would be unprotected. when it does occur, i pull the vehicle over, shut off and start up.

Rouge had recall work on airbag sensor done in 2016. however over the past month or so, the off indicator for the passenger airbag has been lit when a passenger of 130 lbs has been in the set at least 4 different times. once the off indicator light went off after 1/4 mile of driving. the other times, i had to stop the vehicle after driving for longer distances, turn it off and restart to get the off indicator to go off. once the passenger had to get out of vehicle while i turned the vehicle off and restarted in order for light to go off when they sat back down. took to nissan dealer and they could not duplicate the problem so they released the vehicle. i do not trust the airbag to deploy when needed so i am looking to trade the vehicle in order to protect my passenger.....which does nothing to protect anyone in the future who rides in this vehicle. i am not sure of what the airbag recall last year accomplished or why nissan is ignoring the complaints since the recall when the recall stated the ocs sensor may be faulty on 3.2 million vehicles. evidently the ocs sensor is still faulty but the dealer expects me to drive it like this.

Issue with the front passenger seat on a 2015 nissan rogue. the issue is that a full-size adult (150 and 240 pounds) can be in the seat the passenger airbag indicator indicates the front passenger airbag is off. there is no airbag warning light on the dash. i've taken it to the nissan dealership several times and the computer and airbag system has been flashed, but did not fix the problem. since then the dealship has pushed me off, even with photos and evidence of this happening. i have threaten them with a lawsuit because they will not look further in to it, if the airbag does not deploy when a full-size adult is in the seat. i will be taking the vehicle to a different dealership this week, because this issue is continue to happen. i am currently an pursuing an electrical engineering degree at the university of south carolina and will continue to use their resources to i find someone who will resolve the issue. the only resolution for this issue, when it happens, is to park the car and turn it off, let it sit, and turn the car back on to see if the airbag light is on or not. the car has currently 43,068 miles and is still under warranty. also all recalls and maintenance is completed at a nissan dealership. i've also had issues with seat belt light in the dash says that someone is un-buckled while everyone in the vehicle is actually bucckled, and has been buckled.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle crashed into a deer. the air bags did not deploy. the vehicle was towed to an impound lot and then to an independent mechanic. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). the approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Nhtsa recall 16v-244. we took our vehicle in to have the occupant classification system software reprogrammed. since the reprogramming, the ocs light has come on while a passenger is in the seat. we took our vehicle back to the dealership on march 3 2017 to correct the problem. we were told nissan is aware of the problem and suggests to latch the belt before starting the vehicle. if the light comes on, restart the vehicle to turn the light out. nissan says no new correction available at this time. the dealership service department said nissan probably will not do anything until there is a serious accident or death. the service writer also said the problem is in the light and that the air bag will deploy. why should consumers have to initiate a quick fix by buckling seat belts before starting and having to restart if the light does not go out. how are consumers to believe that maybe the air bag will deploy. this is a very serious situation that nissan seems unwilling to resolve long turn.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. the contact stated that the air bag off warning indicator illuminated while the seat was being occupied. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags), but the failure recurred. in addition, when the front driver and passenger side windows were rolled up or down, the windows hesitated to operate and an abnormal clicking sound emitted from the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the window regulators needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 19,000.

I was involved in a car accident with $12,863 worth of damaged to the front of my car. driver air bag did not go off..i hit the sterring wheel so hard that i fractured a rib and a swollen chest inside and out..about 8 months after i bought it there was a recall on the passenger side air bag but i am thinking that the driver side should be checked as well. i was going thru a green light on a city street and a lady ran the red light coming from the other way. i braked and laid on the horn when i saw her coming out and swerved my car but couldn't avoid her. first it was a no fault but then she was proven to go thru the red light. lucky i had my seatbelt on but that didn't even stop me from hitting the steering wheel hard!!

The air bag light on my dash is on and nissan refuses to look into why it is on or if there is a fautly airbag unless i pay them to diagnose the issue and then pay them to fix the issue. this is a saftey concern,

Passenger air bag light comes on either while driving with passenger in front seat. she is 5'4" & 200lbs. i have brought it back to the dealer 4 times, & last time they had it for 6 days & could nor replicate the problem. on a 1500 mile trip to fl from ma, it happened 4 times, & once with me in the passenger seat (i am 5'6" & 260 lbs) dealer will not replace sensors or computer until it sees the error. what do i do drive an unsafe vehicle? i am due to return to ma this sunday, does my wife sit in the rear seat? this has happened at least 25 times in the last 3 months. *tr

When the safety recall came out in 2016 i had it fixed , well again a few months ater it atopping worked and the dealership claim the first one did it wrong so i fixed the recall issue with the passenger airbags again. now for the last few months it not working the airbag light is on on my dash board and the dealers want to charge me 119 to look at it plus repairs i refuse to pay for something was that was not fixed right either time. i have a serious safety issue of a non working malfunction passenger airbag, there was a safety recall on it and they claimed they fixed it twice. my passenger airbag is not turning on when someone is in the seat. i cannot have someone sit in the front because of this and nissan is not fixing the issue. they claim too and then it breaks again. can you help me get this fixed right or make them give me a new vehicle under lemon law.

Although this issue is identified for certain 2015 rogues, mine is not among them, however i am experiencing the following: the front seat passenger occupant classification system light in the dash is lit up whether or not an occupant is in the passenger seat. it started to come on intermittently when the seat was occupied and empty and now it stays on continuously once the engine is started.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. when the passenger seat was occupied, the air bag light would illuminate off as is no one was sitting in the seat. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. in addition, the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags), but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 31,000.

Beginning in july i began having issues with the airbag light it was off when it should be on and on when it should be off it has been to the dealership on multiple occasions and multiple sources have looked at it but continue to blame myself and family. i have pictorial evidence to show people sitting in the seat in the airbag is off and pictorial evidence showing that the airbag should be on. it's been "repaired" multiple times to no success. *tr

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). the dealer was unable to schedule the repair within a reasonable time frame. an appointment was scheduled with the dealer and they stated it would take 1.5 hours for the repair, but then changed their position. the contact was unable to determine how long the repair would take and if the dealer had replaced the parts. the manufacturer was to be notified to ensure that the repair was correctly remedied by the dealer. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect. ...updated 09/14/16 *bf updated 618/18*jb

I received 2 different recall letters, called my local dealership& they stated that they have not received the parts yet that they need to fix my car. i do not wish to drive a car around that has 2 different recalls & that cannot be fixed right away.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. while in the process of making a right turn, another vehicle crashed into the front of the contact's vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. the driver sustained head, neck, and back pains due to the air bag failure. medical attention was required and a police report was filed. the insurance company towed the vehicle to a repair shop. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for the manufacturer to provide a diagnosis to determine the cause of the failure. the contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). the failure mileage was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. while driving 50 mph, a deer emerged from the side of the road and struck the contact's vehicle. there were no warning lights illuminated and the air bags did not deploy. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed there was a defect in the air bags. the vin tool was not used to verify a recall; however, the manufacturer added the vehicle to the recall list on may 23, 2016. the failure mileage was 16,900.

The passenger side airbag is turned off when someone is sitting in the seat. the seat belt warning light also is lit when the seat is empty of people or cargo.

Nhtsa recall . my 2015 nissan was involved in an accident on 2/27/16 . got side swiped on right side from middle of front and back boor going foward . vehicle spun and then was hit again on the left side from back door going foward all the way to the front. as you can imagine it was a very violent impact, never the less none off the airbags deployed on the vehicle none . you could imagine my suprise none off the airbage depolyed every onr was stuned law enforcment included . now i get a recall notice in the mail today 6/13/16 for the passenger airbag on the vehicle .what should be my next step ?

Airbag indicator light/front passengers seat comes on indicating it's not activated with a passenger in the seat while the car is in motion. dealers says it is due to nissan's new design and to have the passenger (my wife) sit with her butt against the back of the seat, legs straight out in front of her with feet on the floor. that's the fix ? well, it doesn't work. nissan needs to make this right or buy the car back due to faulty equipment. this is a safety issue with lives in jeopardy.

The inactive passenger's airbag which indicates that the passenger airbag is disabled stays illuminated even when an adult sits in the seat. this is intermittent. sometimes restarting the car will no other changes will fix the issue (the light stops being illuminated).

The inactive passenger's airbag which indicates that the passenger airbag is disabled stays illuminated even when an adult sits in the seat. this is intermittent. sometimes restarting the car will no other changes will fix the issue (the light stops being illuminated). i have no idea whether this relates to the airbag itself, the sensor, or the light. *js

The air bag light sometimes says on showing it is off even with my wife seating in the passenger seat. it does not happen all the time but every so often. the recall has been done on it but still happens every once in a while. i have had it at two different dealers but they could not find anything wrong. it has been reprogrammed three times to check it out and always checks out ok. my wife weights 170 pounds so it is not a weight problem. one dealer says that is working fine and when it happens just shut car down and restart. what about the times we may not notice that it is on and have an accident and have no air bag protection is what i told him and no answer from him. another dealer just said it checks out ok and nothing else we can do. i called another dealer which said that the air bags are set for 160 pounds per the nhsta regulations so we are too close to the limit. i called nissan customer service and got someone who said you have to take it back to the dealer to have it checked again. i will do it but it will check out ok as always. my daughter has a 2014 nissan rouge sv and it has also happened to her too. when we notice the light on most of the time it was always in motion but also right after she sat in the seat before we started driving and then still stayed on when we drove away. from what i read on line their is lots of people with the same problem they cant seem to get fixed by the dealer or nissan themselves not helping them either. it started about the middle of 2015 and dealers would not do anything about it until the recall came out. we now have 39000 miles and todays date of 05/9/2017 and still have the problem.

The front passenger air bag indicator light lights up on car start indicating airbag is switched off despite the fact there is an adult passenger occupying the seat. happens intermittently , passenger range from son, wife , friends, weighing from 120 to 290 pounds with height of 5.1 to 5.9 feet . the problem is bypassed or re-mediated by forcing the driver to stop pullover and then stop and start the car to activate the airbag on the passenger side. if the car is in the garage it is easy to stop and start (the engine) to get rid of this issue but when i am picking up someone from school or office it is a hassle and a danger as the bag is not activated unless it is observed and remediation process done (stop and start the car engine). the issue does not happen when the car is in motion. it only takes place when we offload or get someone in the passenger seat (front) in stationary , park or with brakes on and in drive gear on-boarding a passenger,. on going issue since past 8 months.
