Problems with 2015 Nissan Rogue UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2015 Nissan Rogue starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 31 433 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2015 Nissan Rogue

On friday, january 24th at approximately 11:50am, my sunroof exploded on my 2015 nissan rogue. weather was dry, road conditions dry and free of debris. outside temperature between 52 and 56 degrees. no overpasses were traveled under. no traffic in front of me. traveling at approximately 60 ' 63mph. i heard a loud explosion and glass fell from the sunroof onto the me, the middle console, both front floor mats, the passenger seat, rear seat and rear floor on both sides. explosion blew up, not down, with the glass pushed upwards at the open, shattered edges.

I noticed recently that my vehicle's heater is not working properly, when i turn on the defogger/ heater, the passenger side works fine, but the driver's side only blows cold air, which, when living in the north east is a problem on cold days as the window will fog up while driving. also, this causes me (the driver) to have to resort to wearing a scarf and gloves while driving as it's my side that is freezing. i've done some research and notice that this is a common problem with the nissan rogue, and that any attempts to re mediate the problem is only temporary and has been known to happen again. this winter (2019-2020) has been extra cold so i only noticed this now when trying to warm up the car.

4 passengers in our awd rouge (2015), with a panoramic sunroof, were driving on 1-85 from las vegas, nv back to salt lake city, ut on 12/08/2019, in the county of beaver about 30 miles from fillmore, ut, at about 75 mph (80 mph interstate speed zone), when all of the sudden, we hear a loud crashing sound. there were no vehicles around us on the road, so we were all extremely terrified. the car had become very loud at that point, and we immediately pulled over to side of the road. we found that the panoramic sunroof had combusted, literally spontaneously. it was completely wrecked and for no reason at all. we took it to a small service station as soon as we could, but we were in the middle of small towns when this happened. all they were able to do was allow us to vacuum up the glass. a few of us had cuts on our bodies, so we bandaged those up while there as well. we called insurance, there were no other cars involved fortunately, as there were no other vehicles closely around us when it exploded. the insurance company said we would have to pay a $1,000 deductible for the incident to be repaired. obviously, this was concerning because this was nothing of our doing. this was simply because of the poor design of the sunroof, and has happened to others as well. nissan should pay for the damage, and in fact, should re-call all vehicles with sunroofs to install a better designed sunroof with appropriate glass. had we had our soft top inside open, there is no telling what would or could have happened as we were driving at an interstate speed. after reviewing the other stories of this happening, this needs to be rectified immediately for the safety of drivers with sunroofs with this design before something fatal happens. i will be joining the class-action lawsuit already open on this exact scenario that has happened to several other people.

Fails to accelerate on long trips, just completely stops accelerating unless vehicle is stopped and allowed to cool off for 10-15 minutes

Hood latch- in motion- highway. the hood will not securely lock into place. when closed/latched the hood can still be moved up and down. it visibly moves at freeway speeds causing distracting line-of-sight and vibrating/shuttering feel while driving. also causes heighten anxiety for fear that the hood will fly up while driving and cause a deadly accident. i have witnessed an alarming number of nissan rogues and other nissan vehicles with hoods violently shaking at freeway speeds. a simple visual examination of nissan vehicles at freeway speeds will show that this is a prevalent and widespread problem. nissan's own instructions state that "the hood should lock into place." other nissan products have already been recalled for this and it is a treacherous oversight that this model of nissan rogue has not been recalled. reporting recalls is not an obvious process to most vehicle owners. a low number of reports is not an indication of a negligible problem. lives are at risk. action is required.

Cvt transmission jerks in eco mode each time after releasing the gas pedal, also even when not using eco mode the grinding noise coming from transmission when going down the hill even if you're not applying on the brake pedal, also front passenger seat vibrates when in drive mode and holding the brake pedal at the light, the suv has only 33,500 miles on it. in my opinion all issues are due to manufactured faulty transmission. according to mechanics consulted was told jatco company that makes transmission for nissan makes bad cvt transmissions. a friend's dad owns a nissan also and had his cvt transmission that went bad replaced with a new purchased cvt transmission from nissan dealership and after about 60,000 miles he's having transmission issues again.

My wife and i on friday april 19,2019 lost acceleration on the car and we had to pull over on the highway in pennsylvania.we had to get the car towed.triple a towed it to able auto shop.the owner john tells me it is a transmission problem and that he doesn't work on transmissions.i then had to have the car towed to lee myles in mt pocono and dominick tells me the transmission is shot.so i am now being told that nissan has no warranty on the transmission.i am very upset and disappointed with nissan.

I have already registered a complaint involving equipment failure and safety. my 2015 nissan rogue does not have interior heat even when the controls are set at 90 degrees. in trying combinations of air-flows as instructed by my dealer, i had to look down to make sure i was pushing the right buttons. talk about distracted driving. when i looked back up, i had just enough time to slam on my brakes so that i would not rear end a logging truck (that was about a 1/2 to full block away when i first looked down) definitely a safety issue in my mind. more importantly: last night i was driving home from a night class (about 7 miles). weather conditions were light snow and light freezing mist. had my temp. set at 90 degrees and controls at full defrost and full fan blower. my windshield continued to ice up because of lack of heat to melt the freezing mist. visibility got so poor i difficulty seeing through my windshield. tried to control the vision by spraying windshield washer fluid using wiper controls. this helped. i cannot believe there has not yet been recall for this heating problem. especially since there are so many other drivers that i have read about on the internet that have experienced the same problems of lack of heat. between being a distracted driver trying to continually change control settings as well as an unsafe driver due to visibility issues as explained earlier, i believe there should be a recall making this a nissan repair issue rather than a consumer repair issue (cost). i hope you can help me and many others.

Interior heat barely warm with temp set at 90. dealer reprogrammed air door positions & heat lasted 1 day. 2nd visit to dealer instructed to change flow positions (switch from outside air to cabin recirculation). windows steamed up; told use ac to dry out air. would like to see a recall for these safety concerns: 1. playing around with buttons to change air flow is distracted driving, having to keep looking down to see which button to try next to get heat to clear window steam (driving city blocks or down the freeway while looking at which combo of heat control buttons to try next) 2. with cabin circulation turned on, windows can stam up suddenly like driving thru fog, until i locate the defrost button, but then i lost heat. 3. safety concern with putting on defroster and not having heat with winter driving; it is scary to have snow falling & although there is enough air to clear steamed windows, there isn't enough heat to melt snow/ice etc. from windshield. surfing the internet, i see i am not alone with this issue. i also learned there is a service bulletin for faulty or improper operation of hvac. the price to repair this is nearly $700 if the car is no longer under warranty. although this may seem like more of a "comfort" issue than a safety issue in keeping interior temperature reasonable, but when a person keeps the setting at +90 degrees and the air blowing out is barely warm, when the windows steam up because of improper air circulation, and when a windshield cannot be cleared of snow or ice creating poor visibility while driving, then i believe this is a safety issue that warrants a recall.

Hot air blows out passenger side. cold air from drivers side. this happens while moving. stationary. all the time. this started in november. once and then appeared to start working properly. now. 1/3/2019 it started not working at all. cold air comes from drivers side all the time and hot from passengers.

The passenger door doesn't latch properly. whenever someone leans on the door, it causes the warning lights and the interior lights to turn on.this happens whether or not the car is in motion. it's terrifying.

The rear passenger door on the driver's side will not open from the inside. i have had adjustments of this door for improper closing twice and now we can't open it from the inside. obviously we are stopped when attempting to open the door.

Won't start stuck in the middle of a storm

Ac and heater. lower portion of the passenger side blows out cold air. unknow why but seems like i am missing a part off of it or why did it go out so fast. i have seen online that this vehicle has many complaints and the system and i don't know why it has not been recalled yet. labor and the way the economy is right we people can not afford high prices labor to get vehicle fix.

Car is just a little of 3 years old with 37k miles and it's begun to show rust on several parts of the frame already. in multiple spots, the paint on the frame was chipping away and rust was visibly pushing it's way through. in one particular area, it was several inches wide. thought this was abnormal for a 3 year old car!

Heater blows cold air. a valve under passenger side dashboard has to be manually opened to temporarily correct this

May 22, 2018 i was driving my 2015 nissan rogue down a highway when i heard what sounded like a gun shot. i pulled over inspected all my tires and my entire car, that is when i realized my sunroof had exploded.

Shift interlock solenoid. does not shift from park position intermittently

My nissan rogue is 2 years old with 31,500 miles. i was accelerating onto the highway on rt 2, near exit 59 in massachusetts on tuesday 3/20, and the engine in the car turned off while accelerating, going about 55 mph. i was able to pull over to the shoulder safely. i tried multiple times to restart the car, but the engine was completely dead. i had the car towed to marlboro nissan, where i purchased the car. they confirmed that the car still would not start when it arrived at the dealership. the next day, it started and they could not replicate the issue. they want me to take the car home with no explanation and no fix. i feel completely unsafe getting back behind the wheel of a car where an engine just turns off for no reason. i am told by nissan corporate consumer affairs that they will not be able to help if they can't replicate the issue a second time. this is dangerous, and i am at a loss with what to do next. getting back in that car on a highway puts not only myself, but other drivers around me at risk for a fatal accident.

It is a known issue that has been recalled on other models but not mine apparently. the hood latch issue, my hood shakes uncontrollably while driving over 65 miles an hour. you can visibly see the hood shaking it is loud and it is very scary thinking the hood might blow off the car

The car had been parked 6:30 p.m. in private driveway. at 2:20 a.m. i was alerted by my neighbor . he had seen through the woods a fire, called the fire dept. he thought our house was on fire and ran over to see if we were ok. it was not our house but our 2015 nissan rogue.when he woke us the car was totally engulfed in flames. the fire dept arrived minutes later and it took awhile to put the fire totally out. nothing remains of the car except the framing. i had purchased this car six months earlier with 20,000 miles. it had just turned 30,000 miles. there was no sign anything was amiss, no warning lights, odd sounds, nothing. we live in a rural area, wooded miles off the main road so i do not suspect this was done by human hands. i can only image this was some sort of electrical short that was slowly simmering for hours. the car had only been driven home (20 mile trip) and parked. the fire occurred 8 hours later. there was nothing flammable around the car. i fully believe the car self ignited during the eve. i called nissan to report this before i even called my insurance agent. i asked for an investigation. if this car had been parked in the garage i could have also lost my home and my family. i doubt this is an isolated incident, and i fear others my not be so fortunate as to loose only the car and no other damages. the car has been taken away and is to be investigated march 23,2018. *tt

Driving on highway and after about 2 hours, car loses speed in middle of traffic pressing gas but car responds like it would hitting the gas in neutral. had to coast off to a gas station. upon searching the internet founf the problem is very common and a sensor malfunctioning shuts the cvt. it advised wait 5 minutes and it would reset. did that and was able to go on. was very scary in traffic with cars on all sides of me

The heater does not work on the coldest days. driver is unable to adequately defrost windshield and maintain a reasonable temperature in the cabin.

Cspc: while attempting to repair a flat tire by replacing the tire with the factory spare. the factory provided scissor jacks failed and bent allowing the car to fall. *dt the consumer stated the manufacturer was contacted. *js

I was driving and my sunroof exploded spontaneously. bridgewater nissan and nissan cooperation said it was due to impact, even though they could not prove it. i had to report it to my insurance to cover the damages. nissan could not even support a valuable customer and pay for my deductible.

This is not a failure at this time but more of a safety concern. the windshield of our rogue 'concave' is the area around the rearview mirror (this can be seen in the attached photo - note the distortion of the reflected image of the trees within blue circle). when you press on the inside of the glass that distorted area slight 'flexes' - suggest a weak point in the glass. i have video can email but too large to attached herein. dealer / nissan says this is normal - i say its a 'failure waiting to happen'. i have look at other similar rogues and do not find the same issue as noted here. thanks for your attention and look forward to your response. i would also like to note: the dashboard of this car illuminates along with day time driving lights when engine is started. here is the problem with this - in the evening the lite dash gives the driver the impression 'all lights are on' - and yes the day time lights are bright enough to drive at nite - but all the tail lights / main head lights are off. to prove this as a potential problem - so far i have seen 3 rogues driving on the highway with no tail / head lights !

Vibration on driver side. first time at 45 mph on highway. second time while at a drive through pharmacy and entire car shook, seats vibrated so hard i thought they were going to take off into space at any second. idle corrected but vibration still there, only not as bad. third time i was told a vibration could not be felt. second service mechanic finallyad!itted itwas the cvt and there was no fixing it. this all happened between september and november 2017 with four visits to the dealership. this auto was just purchased and i tried to get it fixed before the 90 day warranty ran out

When driving the vehicle on snow covered roads, it will first shake and shudder then it will eventually stall. no warning lights or check engine lights come on, once vehicle sits for 10-15 minutes with the engine off the vehicle will start but after a short distance if the road conditions remain the same- snow covered it continues to stall.

The car has a keyless operation. after service an reprogramming for a cvt issue, the engine failed to start after sitting in the garage overnight. in order to start, the brake must be engaged before pushing the start button. this did not work and the start engine light did not come on. pushing the start button resulted in clicking noise but the solenoid (if this car has one) did not engage. after trying several times and turning lights on and off, the car starts. i am concerned that the ignition would disengage while driving. once the vehicle started, it did not shut off until i turned it off; but i haven't tested driving it. the car never did this until the computer reprogramming done this past thursday february 24th when i had the car service before leaving on a trip.

I received recall notices about this and other issues. i contacted porreco nissan in erie, pa (who sold me the car) and was told not to worry about it if i wasn't having problems. i then called nissan consumer affairs and was told that the dealership needed to take care of it. i made the hour and a half trek to the dealership and had it serviced - i think. now, i am receiving notices from nissan telling me it wasn't done, which makes me seem negligent. i called nissan and can't even get someone who speaks good enough english to understand my issue and get me to someone in nissan north america's tennessee office. after already having problems with the dealership, i don't know if they truly performed the work or not, since nissan corporate is still sending me these letters. i don't know who to trust at this point and need some intervention. *tr

Respected officer, driver's side seat belt chime not working if seat belt is not latched - i am noticing happening for about 1 year. engine is making lot of vibration and sound when idle - this is happening shortly soon after i bought this car 08/2015. there is a moving object detection system which sometimes work and sometimes does not work - i am noticing this for about the last 4 months. below i put a date of 10/1/2015 reflecting the engine problem. thanks

The air conditioning regularly stops working and will blow out warm air. we have taken the vehicle to dealerships and mechanics and they cannot replicate the problem as it requires some period of driving before it will stop working. sensors and wires have been replaced. coolant level is fine and this has been happening over the past two summers.

Tires started developing knots on sidewalls after 9000 miles and blowing out they are continental 4x4 contac 215-70-16 someone should be held liable

2015 nissan rogue parked in my garage. i was in driveway heard loud noise like gunshot. looked a my car and saw that front panoramic sunroof had shattered into little pieces of glass . thank god i was not driving at time.

The blind spot warning/ moving object detection did not notice a fire hydrant. so i accidentally backed into it

Rear hatch supports/hydraulics are not opening properly. they make loud scraping noises and you have to physically hold the gate to ensure it doesn't fall. the vehicle is stationary during this issue. there is a recall on others for the same problem but my vin is not included when obviously it should be. it started when the car was one year old.

The awd does not function properly! the sales representitive told me this vehicle was awd all of the time which it is not. therefore i am persuing this... this is an unsafe vehicle as i almost collided with another vehicle because awd cut in and out in and out, very dangerous vehicle...

Almost 3 months into car while driving speed was like when the car is in neutral(but on drive) & if i pressed the gas pedal nothing happened then it turned off. i thought it was a 1 time thing, then it happened again almost 2 months after, dealer said we cant find the problem. it happened 2 more times they could never find the issue. then it wouldnt even turn on making a loud noise then saying key not detected. then after this towing company jump started car, & at the dealer it happened to them once. they said they tested everything but car would say key not detected. then after we told them we submitted everything to corp[orate office they said it was just the battery & it didn't happen again. service manager said that the juice in the battery was all drained & something else had to cause that especially when it says key not detected. that they don't feel safe us taking car back until they can find issue but luis at nissan north america said that is not what service department told them. that they can't help us doing a buy out for this defective car because to them nothing is wrong with it. this is a very hazardous and unsafe matter and the last time it turned off on me i was in the highway i45 had to slowly let it go to the side road until i was able to turn back on. at the moment is still at the dealership. the only person trying to help & seem concern is doug at service dept.

Fort worth nissan sold defective car. 6 months after purchase new 2015 nissan rogue , brake pedal would sqeak when depressing and letting off pedal .dealership where purchased said this was normal with the 2015 rogue model. reported 3 different times dec 2015, feb 2016, and mar 2016. it would get so loud at times specially after having car out in rain. contacted nissan corporate 6/13/2016 and rep said go to another dealer ship for second opinion. went to another dealer ship 7/2016 grubbs nissan dealer ship and july 2017 brake booster was found to be defective. september the issue started again and brake booster was found to be defective again. rosa at consumers for auto reliability and safety. said this had to be reported since if was safety issue of proper braking

Reporting the issue of my blind spot warning lights going off constantly. these lights will go off when no other cars are around me. this is a huge distraction and causes more of a non-safety feature than a safety feature. these lights go off in day light, evening, when it is raining and even sunny. it happens on single lane roads and highways. it is just constantly going off and is more of a hazard and i worry about my safety when driving the car.

Vehicle side window glass rattles and shakes when windows are partially open. they are not secured properly into door frame. could lead to window breaking or exploding at speed, causing heavy distraction and potential accident. rattle varies between windows (in my vehicle, drivers window is worst), so it looks like a variance in production of vehicle. the higher the speed, the more the window shakes.

2015 nissan rogue has glare/reflection from interior dash & vent plate covers reflecting in side mirrors & windows causing poor visibility. interior is dark grey with shiny chrome fixtures which reflects in side mirrors causing distraction, hazardous safety issue. daytime can see reflection of driver in window. nighttime the dash panel with it's lights glare outside driver window blocking side mirror view of traffic visibility. situation is annoying & a safety concern. nissan dealership refuses to help correct this problem. this is a new vehicle (purchased on 9/16/15) & nissan should be responsible for driver safety.

The car blind side warning will continue to go off even then there aren't any cars around. this causes more of a distraction than a safety feature. this was brought to the dealers attention 3 time within the first 2 years of owning the car. the issue has continued to get worse. the dealer ship states they fixed the issue, however it is happening more often than it ever has. brought the car back to the dealership and they advised they see that there is dirt/debre on the camera but there is nothing they can do about this to fix it. the blind side lights go off in rain, shine, snow and when no one is around.

6/13/2015 -the key could not be removed from the new leased . after 10 minutes of starting and stopping, the key was able to be removed. vehicle was driven approximately 36 miles. 6/15/2015 - the key could not be removed from new vehicle a second time. after attempting for over one hour, i contacted the nissan service department and was told to bring the car in as soon as possible. there was no way to get the key out in the meantime. 6/16/2015 - contacted by nissan service. the key has yet to be removed from the ignition and they are still trying to determine the cause. the car's mileage at this point is approximately 56 miles.

The problem is that the doors do not unlock until you press the engine stop button. then all the doors unlock, not just the driver's door. that makes it very easy for car jackers, purse snatchers, and child abductors to wait at a gas station for you to pull up, turn off your engine so you can get out, and commit their crime when all the doors unlock. obviously the same would be true if for some reason you were pulling into a shopping mall or grocery store parking lot. there is a method to reverse the operation so no doors unlock when you turn off the engine and this is safer, except:..the driver's door lock and front passenger door lock are not mechanically connected the the door handle. ie, if you disable the auto door unlock, you cannot open the driver's door in an emergency -- like a car fire, heart attack, accident -- unless you can find and release the door lock which has been "aesthetically" hidden in the door and designed so it is not easily opened -- i assume to prevent someone from using a wire to unlock the door. this is the first vehicle i have ever driven that the driver (and front seat passenger) cannot exit without manually finding and flipping the door lock. how insane is that? ... i mentioned that none of my american cars had this problem and the mechanic i was talking to said it was only a nissan thing. no other car that he knows of will not let the driver exit the car by pulling the door handle...his is extremely dangerous and you truly have very little control over your own security in this vehicle. any person with any kind of even minor hand disability, like arthritis, would have a very hard time unlocking the car doors. the truly crazy thing is that we are talking about, maybe, 5-10 cents of clothes hanger-type wire to correct the problem and potentially save people's lives. does this violate ada rules?.....updated 09/22/15 *bf updated 11/27/2017*cn

Traveling on highway about 60 mph when a semi passed us going in the opposite direction. after he passed there was a loud explosion. we had no idea what had happened. we discovered that the sunroof was completely shattered and glass was everywhere. luckily we had the inside roof cover closed or we would have been covered with glass. we thought a rock had been kicked up by the semi but no rock was found. we had purchased our vehicle on may 14, 2015 and this happened exactly one week later on may 21, 2015. total cost of replacing sunroof was $1914.07. we were still under assumption that it was a rock that caused the damage until we saw the world news report on exploding sunroofs. this matched our incident to the tee.

Gear shift locked, would only go into drive or neutral

Shift gear was locked, it would moved from drive to neutral and neutral to drive only.

The forward collision warning system (fcw) does not work properly. i have road tested it by driving up to another vehicle to within what i would consider a unsafe distance without getting a warning signal. nissan says the system is working but will not road test it because it might pose a potential safety hazard. (catch 22).

My car is having very bad vibration. it is there since i brought the car and i have taken it to the dealer 4 times complaining the issue and the dealer says that they cannot duplicate the problem. when i showed the problem to the nissan mechanic they said that it is normal with nissan and nissan dosen't have a fix for it. the current mileage of my car is 11200 and the vibration increases during the winter and when the heat or ac is powered on. i am worried about this because too much vibration can lead to loosening of parts that might result in accident or engine failure. 2015 honda crv having the same problem has issued a recall for the issue and it is clear that this is something that can be fixed, and nissan dosen't want to loose money by creating a recall for this fix. this is a problem with all the nissan rogues. many people didn't notice this and some think this is normal with the car as they have not owned another new car before. this annoying as well as safety issue has to be taken into consideration and provide a recall for all the owners of the nissan rogue. after researching for 2 years about this problem i believe that this is the cause for all other safety problems concerned with this car.
