Problems with 2012 Nissan Rogue POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2012 Nissan Rogue starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 87 266 miles.

Components Affected by POWER TRAIN Issues

We have classified the 99 complaints from 2012 Nissan Rogue about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.

CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 1

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2012 Nissan Rogue

The transmission failed after 154,000 miles on the vehicle. car bucked a few times, then stopped moving. the front axle is broken. nissan consumer affairs opened a case, had me pay to tow the car to their dealer, pay for a diagnosis, confirmed the transmission failed, then denied the claim based on mileage which i provided to them up front. the $265 towing and diagnosis fee should have been avoided entirely.

Front end vibrates

Driving for 20 minutes on highway, travelling at 75 mph. changed lanes, slowed down to 65mph. attempted to accelerate, rpm stuck at 2400, vehicle wouldn't accelerate past 70 after taking 10 seconds to rise to that from 65mph. didn't go past 2700rpm. got off highway, stopped at a stop light. light turned green, car rose very slowly to 2000 rpm, accelerated very slowly to 30mph. this continued for 5 minutes, pulled over and parked for 1 hour. started driving again, 30 minutes later car stuck at 2400 rpm, couldn't accelerate past previous travelling speed. took to dealer, no diagnostic codes found, of course, 140 dollars later no resolution. car has 70,935 miles on it

After only 5 years and 100,000 miles i was told i had to have a new transmission. i am a very safe driver; only i have driven car; mostly highway miles. all maintenance was maintained. whine developed in transmission; first told nothing wrong; a few weeks later told this news by pat peck nissan, mobile, al. happened when accelerating.

After an hour of driving on the free way the car started deacclerating and the speed wouldn't go above 50 even when i step all the way on the gas pedal

Cvt on the nissan rogue has the same issue that the 2003-2010 recalls have. just got back from a vacation that was delayed 2 hours due to the transmission issue and we lost acceleration on i75 in florida. we were almost hit by two semi trucks. the rpms just reg up and the car loses power deceleration is fast and dangerous. the issue with the cvt from nissan has been fixed after 2010. i want to get this fixed by nissan asap as our rogue has 97k miles and has been doing this since 60k but the 2012s aren't included. my lawyer is working closing on this matter as well. it seems like nissan needs people to actually die before they take action.

After the car has been driven about an hour or more, usually on a warm day, the car has no power when going up hills. it will go from 70 mph to about 50 mph with the pedal to the floor and will continue to go slower until level ground is driven on. also, when leaving the highway after this has occurred, after a complete stop, the car will not move at all with acceleration. the car just sits there like you haven't even touched the gas. when it does move after a minute or two, it goes about 1 mile an hour and if you are pulling into an intersection with other cars coming, that is extremely dangerous. this has happened several times. the first time i took it in for repairs was memorial day 2017. the most recent time i took it in for repairs was september 8, 2017.

While driving, the vehicle will start shuddering and rpm's will increase by 2000-3000 rpms even if there is no assistance with acceleration (foot is off gas pedal). when this happens, the car will then no longer accelerate, and will start slowing down, regardless if you at pressing the gas or not. you basically lose all control over the operating speed of the vehicle. this has happened over 10 times within the past 3 months, all while driving on the highway at posted speeds, approx. 65 mph for anywhere between 5 min to an hour + of constant rate of speed.

While driving my vehicle in town, approx. 40mph up a slight incline the transmission stopped engaging and rpm's started to increase while speed dropped. vehicle has 110,000 miles on it. i came dangerously close to getting into several accidents trying to safely pull over. there was a transmission shop nearby and i barely made it there and they looked into this issue. they said my only option would be to have the cvt replaced. they said i would be putting myself and others at risk of injury if i continued to try and drive it in this condition. the vehicle had no prior issues/warning signs prior to this failure. i strongly believe nissan should replace my cvt at their expense.

Transmission will stall and/or lose acceleration while driving on the freeway. will not increase speed, regardless of if the pedal is to the floor or not. if you come to a complete stop, the vehicle does not move over 5 mph until you stop, turn the vehicle off, sometimes for up to 30 min, and resume driving. this is the 4th time this has happened within 30 days, always while going over 60 mph, and freeway driving for 10 min +.

The cvt has lost 95% of the power during driving. luckily we were only 1/2 mile from home, so we turned around. we had to have it towed to a nissan dealership to have it diagnosed. the dealership told us that the transmission needs replaced at a cost of over $3400. the vehicle only has 77924 miles on it. we asked if it could be rebuilt and the dealership said it has to be replaced with a re manufactured unit. they cannot rebuild the transmission. we contacted nissan to open a case and they said they will not help in the cost of a re manufactured unit or the labor cost. this is a known issue with nissan and previous model years have had the warranty extended to cover the costs. after reading online this appears to be a very common issue with this transmission and could cause an accident or death. nissan case is under samantha diezman the co owner of the vehicle.

Vehicle had cvt transmission failure at 90,000 miles. car speed uncontrollable between slow or too fast on the highway. nissan dealer indicated transmission was failing, but would not replace it. i filed with nissan consumer services to check vehicle since cvt transmission failures are being repaired by other car manufacturers. nissan has refused to address the issue and mechanic agreed this is a failure on the company's side. i had to replace the transmission at a cost of $6,000 and there are still issues with the boot and front case transfers that are not working properly. i'm requesting for nissan to issue a recall against faulty cvt transmissions and replace these since these are dangerous on the highway.

When trying to accelerate at times the vehicle will not receive a response from the gas pedal (it seems like) not sure if this is the transmission not responding or if its the throttle body not responding. either way based on what i have read online, the bulk of complaints are pointing to the cvt transmission & mileage is relatively similar to my vehicle that have this problem as well. my kids travel in this vehicle every morning that i purchased new from nissan. this is completely unacceptable from nissan not to address this problem when they (i'm sure) know of all the complaints.

Takata recall my 2012 nissan rogue shakes and makes a weird noise while driving. also transmission will go into some sort of safe mode even while driving making my not accelerate making it very dangerous while exiting the hallway. check engine light came on saying with a code for the torque converter.

After about an hour of highway driving, the car will stop accelerating. the car was taken to the nissan dealership today, 10/18/19, where the mechanic told us that the "transmission was overheating". they could not tell us what was causing it want install an additional piece of equipment that will provide a temporary fix. this is an extremely dangerous and scary situation; there needs to be a recall. *tr

Vehicle has an acceleration problem, on long drives the transmission overheats and it does not accelerate as intended; you step on the accelerator and it does not go over 35-40 miles per hour, and on the highway is very dangerous, my daughter almost got hit by a semi on her way home from school. she drives 2:45 hours from and to school. i contacted nissan and told me that was my problem, that my warranty already expired and there is no way in hell they could anything i am on my own. checked with the internet and other owners and told me the same thing; it is a safety issue, but they dont see it that way is all about the money and also they told me because it as my first nissan; they could not help because you have to be a loyal customer of nissan in order for me to be able to get something done. dont know what to do. need help!!!

One two occasions, while driving on an interstate the car decelerated from 70 mph to under 40 mph with the rpms dropping dramatically. following the first occurrence, the dealer told us they could not identify the problem and i may have hit the wrong peddle. following the second occasion we were told it was a transmission problem and needed $3000-$6000 in repairs. after a one minute google search i found that this has been a numerous/continual occurrence for several years with the nissan rogue and they were well aware of the problem. nissan stated they would not assist in repair costs after filing a complaint. how could they not have known of this problem when it is easily identified in a google search? both occurrences created an extremely dangerous situation for my family the car is 4 years old with under 70000 miles. attached is a small sample from a google search that was available to the dealer who could not find the problem.

When driving this vehicle long distances it will lose power without notice. when driving acceleration will go down to 0 mph. if you put the gas pedal on the floor it will still not accelerate. this car can not be driven long distances, as it has placed my family in danger numerous times. i have had to pull over on the side of the road and allow the car to sit. many times this has occurred on busy highways. there is no fix when this happens. i have had 18 wheelers behind me when this car has suddenly stopped. nissan will not acknowledge this issue. when inquiring about the issue nissan is only seeking a diagnostic fee. through research i have uncovered that this is a huge issues impacting tons of customers. i will never purchase another nissan.

I was driving on an interstate highway in heavy traffic, at 70 mph, when all of a sudden the rpm went to 5000, and the speed of the vehicle suddenly dropped. i left up on the gas peddle, and gradually pressed it, and moved over to the berm; as the car would not go above 45 mph, at the highest; without the transmission slipping too much that it would lose speed. it also it had an odor. once i stopped and every thing cooled, it seemed to run alright. that was a week ago and it started to do it ,but not as bad today; but i was on regular highway and didn't travel near as far. i took it to a garage when i left the interstate, and to the nissan dealer today; and both said it was a defective cvt transmission, but with 76,000 miles on it, the dealer told me nissan wont do anything about it ,

Lost power when driving on an interstate highway. engine rpm kept increasing buy the transmission wouldn't shift . was able to get off the interstate to safety. let the car sit for a short period and fortunately was able to resume my trip. based on research it seems this is a known, ongoing problem with the cvt transmission and many drivers have had near misses because of it

The cvt transmission overheats and begins to whine. , [xxx]. : thank you for writing about your concerns about your nissan. the ntsb doesn't handle recalls and associated vehicle safety issues of that nature. however, the national highway traffic safety administration does. they may be reached through their website at www.safercar.gov, where you will find complaint forms and other information. [xxx] ntsb atc investigations -----original message----- from: [xxx] [mailto:[xxx]] sent: monday, august 22, 2016 18:33 to: tcas subject: nissan rouge safety issue sent from my ipad nissan safety issue about there cvt transmission failures. before families are killed, nissan should have a recall on these transmissions. i own a 2012 nissan rouge that when the transmission overheats the car starts to whine and completely loses power. this happened to me on multiple occasions on the highway and i thought l was going to get killed trying to get into the breakdown lane with no power. i stepped on the gas and l was just losing power. i have read about many similar issues online. nissan claims that this is a safety device and when the transmission overheats is goes into safe mode. this is not a safety device, this is going to kill people if it hasn't all ready. the longer the drive and the warmer the day is when it has more potential for loss of power. i am at the point where i am afraid of going on any long distance drive because l feel i am going to loss power. this starting happening at around 55,000 miles and is getting worse.there needs to be a recall on these transmissions. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving various speeds, the transmission sensor indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission torque clutch was faulty and needed to be replaced. the failure occurred multiple times and the vehicle stalled due to the failure. the failure was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 87,000.

Loss of power goes into limp mode intermittent pull feels like transmission is slipping and failing i was on a major interstate doin 65 mph i am absolutely sure that there is something wrong withe the transmission been whining since i purchased it wit 49000 miles kept taking it back and said nothing was wrong

Cvt failed on nissan 2012 rogue at 72650 miles disabling vehicle in the hov lane on the highway. service bulletin on cvts on years 2010 or older extended warranty to 120,000 miles (because of failures?). concern is whether nissan actually corrected cvt issues on latter year models. never had a transmission fail with so few miles.

I was driving my car on a highway with speed limits of 70 miles per hour as i was going up an incline my car wouldn't accelerate past the speed i was going. once i made it over the incline i was able to accelerate again. we were then entering the exit ramp and my car just quit. my husband told me to put the car in park and start the engine- it then started up and we were able to exit the ramp, but the car had little acceleration so we turned off the air conditioning and that seemed to help. on our way back home my husband drove the car on the highway and after driving a while the car lost acceleration again. we shut off the air conditioner and then it was ok. we took the car a nissan dealership and was told that they needed to add an aulxillary transmission cooler to the transmission so it would not overheat. also they had to replace ransmission valve body. i had them do the repair at a cost to me if of $1,013.00. nissan would only pay $750.00 to the cost. i told the rep at nissan that we had no warning of the transmission going , no warning lights came on it just stopped. i told the this was a huge safety issue - this could of caused a major accident. i also felt that nissan should of paid the whole cost since they had to add a device to my transmission that wasn't on there when i purchased the vehicle. at the time this happened i had 82,000 miles on my car- they said they extended the warranty to 75,000 miles for the cvt transmission . i had to take my car in again today ,aug 2, 2016 because of the vehicle shaking when i put my air conditioning on and a rattling noise when i am in reverse and starting to go while the air conditioner is running. i am told this is a separate issue and it is going to cost me $1,200.00 for a compressor that is failing. another cost to me the consumer for nissan's lack of accountability for their mechanical failures.

While driving my 2012 nissan rogue back to nj from md, my car began to slow down even while i was stepping on the acceleration. rpms would soar up any time i stepped on the pedal so i pulled over to the side of the road, let the car cool for a few minutes then tried to start it up again and as i stepped on the pedal the car barely accelerated (just inched along), leaving me to call aaa and have it towed back to nj. the car was brought to a nissan dealership, the next day i received a call that my transmission needs to be replaced. the car is only 3.5 years old (well taken care of) and even though it has 77,000 miles on it, a car as new as this one shouldn't be having transmission problems. i contacted nissan consumer affairs and after going back and forth with them a few times they decided they are not going to help me because the car is out of warranty, mind you back in 2003-2010 they put out an extended warranty program on all nissan rogues due to transmission problems, so they acknowledged the issue then i don't understand why they aren't acknowledging the issue now. i am still paying the car off and now they expect me to pay $4,000 to have the trans fixed. after researching this i have found that the cvt transmissions in nissan cars is not an uncommon problem, actually a very common issue. there needs to be a recall on this! looking for any help i can get on this because the transmission is a very expensive fix!

The vehicle has had multiple problems pertaining ro the transmission. it's loud and whining for the last 40000 miles. the dealership says it is normal, there is no way. it also has a problem of binding up when you turn the wheels at same time of accelerating. the vehicle also tries to walk over itself. it also will have delays within the transmission. you begin to accelerate but it doesnt go theres a delay and then it shoots out like a bullet. i have had my dealership check it out and they say its fine. other years and models they have extended warranty because of complaints but not mine for whatever reason.

After the vehicle gets warm the transmission will intermittently whine (started after 50,000 miles. it increases with speed and is most noticeable with the window open. it also starts to loose power if you continue to drive it. if you park and let the truck sit for a few minutes the whining stops. took it to the dealer today and they say they cannot do anything about it. i also had a 2010 nissan rogue which did the very same thing at almost the same mileage. nissan did replace the cvt transmission on that one.

Salt lake city, ut owner. 2012 nissan rogue s awd, with a cvt. 2015 oct, i purchased the vehicle use with 96k miles, still within the bumper to bumper warranty (different owner). 2 weeks after purchase during an attempt to vacation, we arrive in st. george with a smoking engine compartment and loss of fluids, loss of speed on freeway. the transmission blew due to it overheating. it over heating due to the poorly manufactured cooling portion of the cvt. which resulting in the transmission being overheated and "blown". the nissan dealer in st. george charged my purchased extended warranty for the replacement. june 6th, 2017. (1.5 years later, 7 months outside of warranty and 124,500 miles) traveling to grand junction. vehicle started mimicking similar issues as prior, again with the loss of speed. had to replace the cooling portion of the unit. they upgraded it to the "better" version (the external cooler) that would prevent the transmission from over heating. july 7th, 2018. 1 month outside of warranty for the external cooler and 136,907 miles. traveling to twin falls. same issues start occurring, again loss of speed on freeway. took to the dealership on 7/9 where i was advised that my transmission had went into fail safe mode 111 times. leading to need to replace the transmission once again due to the external cooler not doing its job once again. loss of speed on a freeway is a safety hazard. nissan has recalled other models cvt problems, but not the rogue. please help us obtain that recall on all rogue models regardless of miles. i have contact nissan consumer affairs, i opened a case which went to review. subsequently being denied for "goodwill assistance" on 7/10 at 5:20 pm for assistance on another $5,000 repair due to defective manufacturing due to the vehicle being outside of the 60,000 mile manufacture warranty.

On 10/30/15, i was driving my nissan rogue and pulled out at a light in abingdon, va onto a main highway. it was dark and around 7:00 p.m. and had just began to accelerate. the vehicle suddenly made a really loud noise that sounded almost like driving a vehicle with a flat and then there was an odor that smelled like something on fire. i gave it gas, but it would not accelerate. i almost got rear ended as i was pushing the gas trying to get out of the road and unable to move the vehicle. i had my 10 month old daughter in her car seat in the rear of the car. with help i was able to push vehicle partially out of the road. my daughter and i sat on the side of the road for almost three hours before a tow truck came to pick us up. i contacted nissan in bristol and was told that the power train is not under any warranty. the vehicle only has 81,000 miles on it. i thought the vehicle had a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty, but was told that was not the case. my concern is i was almost rear ended due to the transmission going out. took vehicle to a transmission shop and was told the torque had literally exploded sending metal throughout the transmission. after researching, i saw where nissan had reimbursed people for transmissions and extended powertrain warranty to 10 years/120,000 miles. it has a cvt transmission. i was without a vehicle for over 2 weeks. the vehicle has since been repaired but there is still a noise and the repairman said that i was going to need to get a driveshaft for the vehicle as it had been damaged as well. i am still paying on this vehicle and i do not feel safe driving it. my husband contacted nissan and he was told it was not under warranty. i contact nissan on 11/16/15 and was told it was under warranty until 1/13/16. but i had to have it repaired at a nissan dealer. vehicle was repaired by amoco asking for reimbursement. thank you. *tr

When you accelerate, there is a loud squealing noise that occurs from under the hood. i took the rogue back to the dealer and they told me the serpentine belt was bad. i had it replaced...and shortly after that the squealing noise was back again i took it back to the dealer and they me the serpentine belt was bad again! the car only has a total of 34,000 miles on it and the 2nd belt only has about 500 of those miles on it. i also noticed that the rogue has a vibration to it at times when the squealing occurs . i asked the dealer if there could be a problem with the cvt due to the squealing and vibrations when accelerating and they told me "no". i asked other auto service shops and told me that it sounds very much like the cvt is starting to have issues. i also looked up problems with the rogue on these issues and see that many others are having the same problems but nissan is not having any recalls on this however, i did find a service bulletin for one of nissan's other vehicles(murango) that has cvt squealing and similar problems and that is bulletin ntb 08104 but nothing for the rogues. why is that when their transmissions are almost the same?

Just bought the car @ 33,000 miles. noticed almost imediately that there was some whining and squealing from the transmission at various times and speed (both on city streets at lower mph and on highways) it would stop when i depressed the excellerator. it wasn't constant and i couldn't pin point when it was accuring but it happened enough. read all sorts of things and simialr stories with these nissan cvt transmissions, so i called the dealer (carmax) and they set up an appointment and took it in. their guys agreed adnd send it to a local nissan dealer as it's under warranty, the local nissan dealer is trying to say it might be the wheel bearings. i'm beside myself and the carmax service people are fighting for me as they agree with me. my research shows numerous issues with this exact problem over several nissan cvt transmissions on numerous makes of vehicles.

Coming home on i-94 south of madison, wi. had the cruise set at 75 mph started going up a slight grade and the cruise kicked off so i applied gas to the point i had the peddle to the floor and still losing speed, slowed to 55 mph until i crested the hill and gained speed for the next hill and again slowed to 60 mph and then gained speed again on the flat parts. i made it to my exit, stopped, put it in park, then in drive, the problem went away but for how long, is this the beginning of the end? there is 86,000 miles on it and the more i research it the more irritated i get, it is doing the same thing all the other one's on youtube video's from 2008 to 2010. the problem still exist, the extended warranty on the cvt has to be extended for all cvt's no matter what year, these things are an abomination and i have no money for a repair like this. watch this video, same thing happened to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg_zf1eo0pw

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. the contact stated that it was difficult to shift the vehicle from the park position. in addition, when changing gears, the vehicle independently shifted back into the park position and was unable to change gears. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the interlock brake shift needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 33,000. updated 11/20/15*lj, 03/23/18 *jb

While pulling out on a 4 lane highway, my transmission stalled, and i was unable to accelerate my vehicle, causing me to almost be rear ended by a logging truck going 65mph or more. the rpm's of the vehicle will jump to over 5000 while trying to push on the gas without acceleration. i made an appointment with nissan to have diagnostic testing done. they informed me that the cvt transmission is the problem and needs to be replaced, costing $5,000. they informed me that i needed another part (some kind of transmission cooler) to keep the transmission from overheating, which was never communicated to me throughout my ownership. after doing research, i discovered that in 2010, nissan extended their warranty to 5 years/120,000 miles due this cvt problem. i have spoken to the service advisor at the dealership who stated that warranty is for model year 2010 and older and this is not a safety issue. however, i beg to differ. attempting to pull out into moving traffic, crossing intersections, and cars stalling out in the winter is a major safety issue and could cause serious car accidents and deaths. i have attempted to contact nissan consumer affairs office without any response. i strongly recommend this issue be investigated and considered for a recall.

When driving the cvt transmission will overheat and lose all power, usually while you are driving on the freeway for a time frame of 20 minutes to an hour or so into your trip, which really sucks in heavy traffic because you can't do anything but hope you get to the safety of the side before you are smashed by an 18 wheeler or any other vehicle which could cause a serious accident. nissan knows of this and will not recall these transmissions my vehicle is only 3 or 4 years old and i will not take it on trips over 50 miles or so. i have noticed many people have this issue and nissan will not fix it they actually lessened the warranty in 2010 from 10 yrs 120,000 mile to 5 yr 60,000 without really addressing the issue! nissan has lost my respect and will not purchase another unless this issue is taken care off through a massive recall!

The power train failed to provide power to the vehicle on the interstate, i had to slow down almost uncontrollable til power came back when i shifted it to neutral, then back to drive. i researched this problem with nissan and found that the cvt transmission they put in the vehicle was having issues with this and no recall was made. they asserted that my warranty was expired and nothing could be done. this tells me that they only make a car that last 85k miles then you have to replace a main part of the vehicle. i feel this was also unsafe on the road due to it losing power due to poor quality of parts. my vehicle is only just hitting 3 years old. i did however made it to the dealership i bought it and having to pay for a used transmission to be put in.

2012 nissan rogue cvt transmission failed while accelerating on a 2 lane merge from one interstate onto another putting the occupants at risk while attempting to get to the side of the road. nissan has a long standing issue with the cvt transmission that allegedly was resolved after a redesign. nissan acknowledged the issue (not covered by warranty d/t mileage but declined to apply an extended warranty that was in place for earlier models). dealer repaired at a cost of 1/4 of the vehicle cost was for a rebuild, warranty for this only covers 1 year/12k. not much comfort regarding longevity or personal safety within this vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. upon depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not accelerate forward on more than one occasion. the vehicle was towed to riverside nissan (8330 indiana avenue b, riverside, california 92504) where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. the contact replaced the battery, but the failure recurred. the contact believed that the continuously variable transmission was the cause of the recurring failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 75 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle would not accelerate. the contact stated that all of the gauges on the instrument panel decreased to zero. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 55,000.

Driving at 70 mph going uphill the car, with no warning or indication, slowed down to 25 mph. press the pedal fully would not make the car go any faster. it was in the summer so it was very hot in california. when you on the freeway with two babies the last thing you want is your car slowing down to 25 mph. this is extremely dangerous. took it to the dealer and they said it needs a transmission cooler. it tool 3 months for them to get the part. they installed it in the winter and of course it is not hot anymore. this summer we drove out to arizona during a record high heat wave and once again this time driving 75 mph with the cruise control on, it disengaged and i pressed the accelerator down and the car slow to 60mph on flat ground. then on a slight incline the vehicle slowed down to 45mph in a 70mph zone. out in the middle of the desert with my family. this is unacceptable for a car that was supposedly fixed. took it to the dealership and they said the transmission needs to be replaced. so i called nissan and they said sorry we cannot help you. they do not even own up to a manufacturer defect. do not buy this car! nissan rogue 2012 test drive them in the hottest part of the summer and i would recommend to drive it uphill during this time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the dealer stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 65,053.

Lost power going uphill on a freeway. could not get off the freeway as i was in the middle lane. car made whining sounds but would not go uphill. i was pressing gas with no effect just noise. turned on my emergency lights and stopped in the middle lane causing back up. gladly i had cellphone signal and was able to call a tow. this is unbelievable on the new vehicle with 8k miles. after the tow to the dealership it started and drove normally. good thing that dealer was closed and i had no choice but test it. i will take it to my local dealer for check up but new cars should not loose power like that on the freeway. *tr

While driving at 30 mph and attempting to accelerate the throttle went to the floor with no response from the rpm's or vehicle speed. power sersumed after about 5-10 seconds. additionally when starting from a red light the vehicle would not respond from the throttle being depressed and would only move at about 5 mph for 5-10 seconds then power would resume. this has happened multiple times in 2 week period. first service visit they duplicted the condition and replaces brake pedal sensor. after three days issue returned. second visit the adjusted brake sensor. now have car back and will see if issue is resolved. this is a very dangerous situation.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph during inclement weather, the four wheel drive failed to operate without warning. in addition, the contact stated that there was an abnormal noise emitting from the wheels of the vehicle and discover that the wheel wells was rusted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 3,000.

Start with fuel gauge read incorrectly, check engine light off and on vehicle start stalling with out warring, ari bag lihth always on and still on as of today abs light came on and off fill like the truck is pull a load always oil leaks,a/c don't cool ect

After a panic stop which activates the abs system, this vehicle is unresponsive to throttle input for an excessive period of time (10 seconds or more). this has been demonstrated to the dealer and a new, similar vehicle showed the same performance. the dealer indicates it must be inherent with the vehicle, no fix is available from nissan. this unresponsiveness after a panic stop is un-safe. *tr

Cvt transmission has never worked correctly. it finally failed at highway speeds.nissan put my family in harms way..nissan refuses to acknowledge and fix under warranty a long sanding problem with these cvt's. they were redesigned which shows there was a big problem. my model year 2012 is a hazard. .....updated 10-15-15-*bf updated 11/08/2017*cn

originally the car would hesitate, bog, only while turning or slightly rolling. additionally now it hesitates from a dead stop. sometimes it hesitates, goes, then hesitates again. it is an intermittent problem but it occurs while pulling out into traffic or turning through a light. i'm afraid the car will stall and i'll be hit broadside or from behind. the dealer has looked at the car 4 times and says it's the way the cvt transmission works. the car did not do this during the first 2000 miles. i have been driving for 50 years and never had a car operate so dangerously. i am in a lease and nissan will not take the car back. thank you for your time. *tr
