Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2008 Nissan Rogue

After driving nearly 50 miles on the highway, i got off the exit and stopped at a stop sign. once it was clear i tried to accelerate but due to some kind of power loss the vehicle would not move. the vehicle lost power and the rpm's dropped under 1000. after a few minutes the power returned to normal and i drove to my original destination. this is the third time this has personally happened to me in this vehicle and i would like to report it so it does not happen to anyone else.

I was driving on i-5 from los angeles traveling about 65mph. i had been driving for about 55min when my vehicle rpm's started to increase and my mph's started to decrease. i tried to push the gas pedal down to accelerate but just the rpm's would rev up and car kept losing speed. i had to pull over various times and let the car sit while off for about 20-25 min before i could drive safely again. this only lasted for about an hour at the most before i would have the same problem again and have to pull over to let the car sit for a while. also i checked all fluids when i pulled over and everything was at optimal level as required. the car was not over heating either. *tr

Important: if you have a complaint about your transmission, acceleration problems or loss of power you need to also a complaint with the federal trade commission (ftc 877-382-4357) regarding your dealings with nissan. i just spoke with the ftc and they told me that while they don't respond to individual complaints if they see patterns they do. the only way we will get nissan to respond to us is by complaining about their business practices as well as their safety issues. these dealerships and corporate consumer affairs know that until enough of us complain to the right people and stop just paying for nissan's known problems with the cvt and other issues, they will keep giving us the run around. i have to put my 2nd transmission in my 2008 rogue in 12 months. nissan tells me my last new transmission (april 2014) was out of the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. their business practices are horrible. these cars are unsafe and putting people in danger. please make your voice known at the ftc as well as here. tell others to do the same. we deserve better. contact me at [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving down hunt highway going 45 miles per hour when i started to come up a hill and the car came to a near complete stop with no warning because the transmission binding up causing me to almost be rear ended and my tires to skid a little till i pushed on the brakes to try and warn people behind me and had to exit the roadway into a dirt farm field to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 nissan rogue. while driving at approximately 25, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. after the vehicle was repaired, it was discovered that there was a transmission leak. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 114,000. ...updated 02/19/16 *bf *cn

Driving over a rail road track the vehicle lost all power. the cable ass control to the transmission broke off. when we had notify nissan of the part we needed, we were told that it would be a while before we could get this part that there were over 20 people ahead of us for this part. so i am writing to inform you of a safety issue. this could have created a very bad accident.

I was traveling home from work and was on an incline trying to accelerate when the cvt transmission failed. the car started rolling backwards and i was just able to stop it before i was hit and caused a multi car pile up due to this failure. luckily i wasn't traveling at a high rate of speed when this happened so no major incident occurred, this time, but it could happen. *tr

On 11/20/14 i was on highway 80 driving from roseville ca to palo alto ca . i was in the far left lane (4 total) in heavy traffic doing aprx 50 mph. with no warning i couldn't accelerate and the engine only revved when i pushed the gas pedal. i cut off several cars to get to the right side shoulder. after i called aaa a chp showed up to see if i was ok. i explained what happened and a tow truck would arrive in about 2 hour due to traffic. the officer said because of my location i needed to remain in my car until a tow truck arrived. he also said he would remain with me until help arrived. i was towed to a shop in fairfield ca (closest city). paid $3,758 to have an independent shop install a new nissan cvt transmission. found out later nissan had extended the power train warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles. my car was well within the warranty requirements. i have spoken to 2 nissan representatives and both told me because they didn't do the repair there was nothing they would do. i explained i was from oregon and needed to be home by saturday to work. the shop that did the work had me on the road the next day. they said because they installed a nissan transmission it would be warranted by nissan. i asked if i could send an email to someone higher up explaining my situation and was told there was no need. i asked if they were recording our conversations and was told yes. it is my understanding it's illegal to record a conversation without prior notice or approval. i have checked online and amazed how many people have had similar problems with nissan. i don't know if anyone has been injured because of this but what is happening is very dangerous and nissan has known about faulty cvt transmissions for quite some time. *tr

On the date listed above the transmission failed. my wife and i were in four lanes of eastbound traffic on i40 in burlington nc. we lost momentum in heavy traffic and were lucky to get off the highway. this car was purchased in march 2008. it had a known issue where grinding noises were coming from the transmission. nissan finally released a fix and my car was updated on 11/30/2009. i believe the cvt was defective or damaged because of a slow response by nissan. the car was 20 months old before the company repaired the vehicle so that the grinding noise wasn't present. i asked nissan for data on failures and - of course - they said that was not available. this issue should be looked into because the catastrophic loss of a transmission could lead to a deadly accident. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate as the check engine wrning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the cvt valve needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 122,000.

Cvt transmission went out had a loud howling noise the rpms shot up and down a few times big vibration then nothing. *tr

No acceleration when gas pedal depressed. coasted to curb. dangerous situation. cvt transmission failed. no prior warning. *tr

Was returning from trip north carolina back home to tennessee once about hour away felt car just start slowing down car wouldn't accelerate when pushing on gas. was able to get to right hand lane and get off interstate just before car went to a crawl. car was making whining noise while trying to move car from highway. car came to stop and unable to move again. had car towed back to my house sent to shop to find out that transmission had malfunctioned. doing research on transmission found out the nissan rouge is using cvt transmission and that nissan extended the warranty to 120k or 10 years. my research also found out that other nissan owners of rogue and muranos were having issues with cvt transmission. when i found out that about the warranty i called nissan consumer care to inquire about this. i was told my model and make qualified under warranty and that mileage didn't matter. nissan decided not to assist me with repair and replacement of transmission. i tried to tell nissan about letter that stated they would decrease cost even above 120k. they refused to do so. i had no warning sensors that there was problem with transmission. this could have been a bad accident if the transmission had of went out during heavy traffic. it appears reading about other owners experiences with cvt transmissions that nissan doesn't want to own up to having a faulty transmission. even speaking with mechanics from outside and with nissan that this transmission is faulty and many have issues and complainants about it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact also stated that excessive force was applied to the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. the vehicle was restarted and the vehicle failed to shift out of park. the failure occurred on three different occasions. the vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 124,354. updated 9/29/14*cn the consumer stated the manufacturer was notified and did not offer any assistance due to the vehicle being out of warranty. updated 2/26/2015. *js

The transmission died on my 2008 nissan rogue. after purchasing the vehicle in june 2008, we heard "whiring" noises. the vehicle was taken to the dealership of purchase and we have the notation that customer complained of whiring. result was there were no issues. car has continued to whine through the years, in the past year, it became worse. we took it to our mechanic to be evaluated, and immediately he knew the problem- the cvt transmission. the mechanic did some research and found that nissan had extended the warranty, very quietly. since i drive 70+ miles to/from work, my car was already over the warranty limit. hence, left with 2 options, replacement via a nissan dealership costing $5,000 as no viable mechanic will touch the problem. or get rid of the car. this type of repair was not in our budget nor were we in a position to purchase a new vehicle ( this one was paid for). there was no guarantee when the transmission would go out, other than it eventually would. lately, the noise had become much worse and we feared the worst. thank goodness, the car died in our driveway and not the highway. nissan knew this was a problem, apparently from the beginning, and is not accepting responsibility. *tr

Traveling long distance on the highway. engine would not respond to the accelerator in a normal manner accompanied by whiny noises. pressed accelerator to the floor and rpms would increase extremely slowly and not above 3000 rpms. continued for the remaining 2.5 hours of our trip. this happened again on our way home multiple times. had extreme difficulty after exiting the highway and having to stop. vehicle barely moved forward. *tr

Driving and suddenly the car went from 70mph to 50mph. unable to get it to go any faster. transmission in some sort of safe mode from overheating or something. i was almost run into by the car behind me. this is the 4th time this has happened and every time i have only narrowly avoided a collision. nissan says they have a fix for the problem, however the parts are on restriction, meaning that the dealer can't even get them in. this needs to be fixed and a recall issued asap before people start dying from this problem. *tr

When driving at highway speed there is a sudden loss of power no matter how far you depress the accelerator the vehicle will not go any faster and you are coasting you can not go any faster. this happens when going up hill on when there is a greater load on the transmission. you can not maintain speed in heavy traffic this creates a very dangerous condition for the occupants of the car as well as those around them. when taken to the dealer i was told there is a technical bulletin for all rogues that the transmission over heats and it goes into safety override mode so it doesn't blow up. in light of this all rogues need a transmission cooler installed at a cost of $1300. *tr

We bought a car last monday on may 26, 2014 at antwerpen nissan security dealership (1701 woodlawn drive, baltimore, md 21207). please find the car details: year: 2008 make: nissan model: rogue body type: 4dr sl fwd trim: sl black vin: [xxx] odometer: 78321 with a dealer warranty for one month or 1000 miles, powertrain only ; for the total cash delivered price of $13,000.00 (thirteen thousand us dollars) already paid by check on may 26, 2014. the second day we were facing problems with the car as the motor was overheated in very few miles, it was smelling smoky inside and the motor was making cracking noises even when it was turned off. we called immediately the sales manager and let him know that we want to turn the car back as it is not functioning properly. the day after we almost get an accident in the traffic that put our life in danger. the car lost power while driving: gas pedal was fully pushed down and the tachometer showed 3500 rpm while the speed hardly reached 20 mph for about 2 miles till we pulled over at bel air road. we decided to call the general manager for turning the car back as it was within the warranty and i was very clear to him that i do not want that car any more. he agreed to do so, and on last friday may 30th, 2014, they carried the car from our home location. we requested the money back. since that day we have being waiting for days and hours in the dealership offices for a response of our request, but they lied to us all the time and last night after many attempts on deaf phone calls the response was: no, they are not giving us the money back. the car dealer pretend that this dangerous car has no problems at all !!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving west from st. louis, mo to boulder, co and about half way into my drive my 2008 nissan rogue s awd had a sudden loss of power. it would not accelerate but the rpm of the engine climbed when i pressed the pedal. i came to a stop and i could hear the transmission making an whining noise. i checked under the vehicle and did not see any fluid leaks or any damage. when i got back on the road the car worked normally for a while but then began to have the same problems. this occurred for the rest of the trip, sometimes working normally, and sometimes not. *tr

May 2014: on a trip to az, vehicle suddenly began to decelerate and could not be driven more than 3000 rpms. suddenly and drastically slowing down without using brakes and with no brake light warning to following vehicles could have caused a serious rear-end accident. problem occurred without warning more 20 times. took rogue to economy nissan to repair problem. they replaced dip stick and drained off some transmission fluid and stated this would correct what they said was a transmission fluid overheating problem. july 2014: on another cross country trip problem re-occurred. went to dave solon nissan in pueblo colo. they advised not to continue driving rogue until a transmission cooler kit was installed. this part was on perpetual back order. in reality we were informed that at that time there was no fix for this problem. because of our schedule, we traded the rogue in for a used nissan pathfinder. we later found out that dave solon nissan got tired of waiting for the part and took rogue to a car action. it is unclear whether they informed the public of problem or just sold the vehicle with a serious safety problem that could not be corrected. to date there appears to be no fix to this problem. we believe this should be a recall issue given the high potential for serious rear-end accidents. *tr

After driving for about 45 minutes on the highway, the vehicle lost power and began decelerating rapidly. after pushing the gas multiple times, the vehicle remained unresponsive and would not accelerate. the vehicle decelerated to 20mph which was very dangerous in an 80 mph speed zone on a state highway. i pulled over and turned off the vehicle for 30 minutes. upon starting it up again and continuing on my trip, the vehicle repeated the problem within another hour of driving. when this occurs now, vehicle will not accelerate from a full stop. this is extremely hazardous in toll booths or red lights, as other cars take the liberty of driving by as i am pumping the gas. randomly the car will kick back into gear and jut out into traffic, which has almost caused two different accidents. *tr

Began to lose power after 2 hours of driving-was told at dealer that car was going into safe mode. fluids were changed at considerable cost approx 6 months ago. yesterday i attempted to accelerate from a stop at a traffic signal and without warning i had no power, had to coast to safety. there were no sounds, no lights of warning on dash. dealership indicates transmission needs to be replaced at a cost of $3500. they will not entertain any warranty compensation as we have passes the extended 120,000 warranty. clearly there is a problem with the cvt component, very disappointing. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 nissan rogue. the contact stated while attempting to accelerate the vehicle hesitated and shuttered. the contact indicated that the defect was also present while driving at low speeds. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the transmission was defective. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the failure mileage was 146,000.

Car would not shift out of park at times )with brake applied properly), or would eventually shift out of park after many attempts, then failed to shift out of park at all, making the vehicle inoperable. ..updated 04-16-14 *bf

I noticed a whinning sound coming from my vehicle. i took it to a mechanic who then reported it was the transmission. i then took my car to a nissan dealership and they confirmed that it was the cvt transmission (carrier bearing area). i was not aware that there had been issues with the cvt transmissions in nissan. nissan had extended the warranty however due to me the consumer not being made aware of the issue that nissan was having, i didn't know that i should be on the look to see if my car was having issues until i heard the whinning sound. i drive a lot for work, therefore my car has 123,233 miles on it but is very well taken care of and is only 5 years old and has no other issues. i am currently battling with nissan to have them fix their defective product (cvt transmission). nissan should be made to correct these defects in their products regardless. nissan knows of the issue, but from the research i've been doing online they are not taking responsibility for the defective products. americans should not spend their hard earned money on products that are defective and then companies bailing out. companies need to take responsibility! *tr

The problem we are having is the car will hesitate as if the engine stalls but the tachometer shows a steady rpm. this hesitation lasts for just a few seconds but is very sudden. the car then starts going as if nothing has happened. there are no lights coming on to indicate any problems. when i have had the car at the dealer they check for a trouble codes and there aren't any. this has happened many times at different speeds and different conditions. the first time i just had turned a corner and started to accelerate and it hesitated three times within 10 to 15 seconds. our speed dropped to almost a stop then started as if nothing was wrong. other times i have been accelerating from a stop light and have had the car come almost to a stop. i have almost been rear ended three times. i have been driving at a constant speed on the freeway and had the car drop from 65 mph down to 40 mph in heavy traffic. again almost causing a major wreck in heavy traffic. the car again started up as if nothing was wrong. another time i was merging onto the freeway into traffic doing 70mph and had it hesitate down to 40mph in front of a semi. he had to lock his wheels to avoid rear ending me, he could not get over. i should have been able to merge without any trouble. i had enough room had it not hesitated. this last time i was turning across two lanes onto an entrance ramp to the freeway when it came almost to a stop midway across the first lane i was crossing. an oncoming car had to swerve into the right lane to avoid me. had the car not been able to move right we would have been hit in the passenger door at about 50 mph. my wife could have been killed. i have called the service manager at our dealership but he will not call back. i have called nissan corporate at 1-800-343-6913 x[xxx] and left messages with [xxx] but she will not return my calls. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While driving 2008 nissan rogue on i-17 interstate toward flagstaff, az at posted speed limit of 75 mph, the vehicle experienced rapid loss of speed and power in which pressing down on accelerator had no effect on vehicle. semi-truck nearly rear ended our vehicle. driver of semi-truck made sudden lane change to avoid collision. pulled over to the side of the road and shut vehicle off. inspected vehicle for any obvious signs of source of malfunction. restarted vehicle after 20 minutes and resumed travel with no additional problems on this trip. this malfunction has repeated on several occasions since, with more regularity to date. seems to occur most often when driving to a higher elevation after an hour or more of continuous operation. when malfunction occurs, engine will not exceed 2500-3000 rpms even with gas pedal fully depressed. since original malfunction, i have also experienced lack of acceleration or hesitation from a complete stop when entering into traffic resulting in potential unsafe condition when entering traffic. malfunction is intermittent, but extremely more frequent. i have since read many similar complaints on the internet from other owners of same year, make and model vehicle. i feel there should be a recall on this vehicle for this problem. *tr

While driving 2008 nissan rogue on highway 70 in new mexico at posted speed limit of 75 mph, the vehicle experienced rapid loss of speed and power in which pressing down on accelerator had no effect on vehicle. pulled over to the side of the road and shut vehicle off. inspected vehicle for any obvious signs of source of malfunction. restarted vehicle after 20 minutes and resumed travel with no additional problems on this trip. this malfunction has repeated on several occasions since, with more regularity to date. seems to occur most often when driving to a higher elevation after an hour or more of continuous operation. when malfunction occurs, engine will not exceed 2500-3000 rpms even with gas pedal fully depressed. this happened first in january 2014 and i took it to nissan dealer in albuquerque who said nothing was wrong with transmission. vehicle worked fine for over a year and two months ago again started with this problem. malfunction is intermittent, but recently more frequent. i brought it to a nissan dealer in las cruces nm but they didnt have a transmission tech in that day. i was charged a $120 diagnostic fee and told they could find nothing wrong but to bring it back on a day when transmission tech will be in. its an hour and half drive for me each way. have since read many similar complaints on the internet from other owners of same year, make and model vehicle. i feel there should be a recall on this vehicle for this problem.

*tr

The cvt transmission in this vehicle has already failed once and was replaced. the brand new cvt has less than 5k miles on it and i am experiencing the same problems. the problems include lack of acceleration in the 0-20 zone with accelerator pedal in full accel position there is little to no acceleration. while driving up hills in the entire speed range there is a lack of ability to accelerate especially at freeway speeds creating a potential unsafe slow speeds issue. this is a common problem in the 2008-2010 rogues. this is unacceptable as this vehicle has been well maintained, has relatively low mileage, and should still be a reliable car, please consider a recall of the cvt's in these vehicles. this should be a safe and reliable vehicle for my family. *tr

The transmission (cvt) is junk. it is a safety hazard. i can not accelerate after coming to a stop or a rolling stop, or when going uphill. i have 3 children & we are lucky we have not been rear ended or tboned yet! the service dept at the dealership wants to change the transmission fluid, spark plugs, and clean the throttle body at a charge! this car only has 38000 miles! i have explained it until i am blue in the face. they test drove it & it did the same thing on them. i researched the issue & realized it is very common. they have extended the warranty to 120,000 or 10 years. i just want the cvt fixed before we are involved in an accident!

On 2 occasions in a week period of time after driving on the highway for about an hour i exited the highway via an exit ramp and stopped at the stop light. when the light turned green, my car would not accelerate even though the car was still in drive and the gas pedal was pressed down. both times i scooted about 1mph over to the shoulder, placed the car in park then back in drive and it accelerated normally. i brought the car to the dealer, they are replacing the transmission control module at no cost, it is still covered under the nissan extended warranty for the cvt. this issue frightened me and made me feel unsafe in the vehicle. i worry had i needed to stop on the highway and then accelerate and was unable to that i would have been hit. i feel nissan should look further into the cvt issues and perhaps issue recalls as these types of issues make the car unsafe. in my instance the car felt as if it were stuck in park or neutral, it would not shift into drive. i have read online several other complaints concerning cvt issues. *tr

The cvt transmission in the 2008 nissan rogue is very dangerous. the car loses acceleration after traveling a distance (over 40 miles) and when it comes to a stop, it will not take off. saturday, june 8, 2013 i drove from college station, tx to houston, tx (85 miles). when i came a stop sign after exiting the freeway, i stopped and then attempted a right turn into oncoming traffic. once i depressed the gas, the car rolled into the intersection and stalled with traffic barreling toward me. cars had to swerve to avoid hitting me. this car has always had acceleration and deceleration problems since i bought it and no warning lights ever come on. the first time the car broke down was on the first road trip i took in the car. in 2012 as i was driving to atlanta, georgia and the car broke completely down in birmingham, alabama. i had to get a loaner from the local dealership in birmingham to complete my trip. the cvt transmission is a very, very dangerous technology and it should be recalled and a class action suit should be initiated against nissan. nissan has extended the warranty from 60000 to 120000 in all cvt transmission vehicles. why would they do this if they do not think there is a problem. *tr

Problems with 2008 nissan rogue.....airbag light flashing on dash. cannot reset. needs new airbag control unit....$1200. transmission making bizarre sounds and not engaging properly. a/c not working ...compressor, evaporator and control module need to be replaced...$3000??????? *tr

I was turning from a residential street onto a main road, when i went to accelerate the car red lined, but did not accelerate. i was only able to go 5-10 miles an hour. i managed to pull over without getting hit and had to get the car towed to the dealership. the transmission was replaced and i was told this had happened numerous times with the cvt in the rogue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 nissan rogue. the contact stated that the gear shifter became stuck in park. when the failure first occurred, the gear shifter was found to be abnormally loose and the contact could shake the shifter back and forth and dislodged. the dealer and the contact were informed that the gear shifter and the shift lock solenoid needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 73,000 and the current mileage was 74,000. updated 06/18/13 *lj the contact stated the dealer provided the contact with a small screwdiriver to put in the slot to push down and release the shifter. when the vehicle was in park it would take extra time to dislodge. updated 06/24/2013 *js

My girlfriend and i own a nissan rogue that has a faulty cvt transmission that has needed to be replaced twice within the past two years. we discovered that it was faulty because the vehicle decelerates while on the freeway. as the car slows, you can press on the accelerator, but the car will not go above whatever speed it was lowered to. if you need to slow for whatever reason, the car will be relegated to a crawl which is a huge danger on the freeway. with that said, nissan replaced the transmission initially and while we believed our problems were solved, about a month ago we discovered that the car was once again decelerating while we were bringing my girlfriend's year and a half year old niece back home with us from los angeles. thankfully we were able to make it back home and immediately took it to a nissan dealership. again, it was the same issue with this transmission and again we got it replaced. we were told by the nissan mechanic that the phoenix heat quickly causes the cvt transmission to break down and told us that it will likely happen again within two years. it was at this point that we decided to contact nissan and push for a lifetime warranty on this transmission. we can't afford it financially and we don't want to risk it and continue on with our vehicle if we know that if we push it, it could be unsafe. i escalated this issue through their consumer affairs department, but after speaking with their representatives, i was told that there was nothing that they could do. not only that, but they contradicted their own mechanic and refused to admit that this is a real issue. instead they opted for a lets wait and see approach. this is completely unacceptable for myself, my family, and anyone else who may be affected by this faulty transmission. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, she heard an abnormal whining noise. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified and offered to cover one month of her vehicle payments. in addition, the contact stated that she could hear a popping noise in the steering wheel and the air pressure warning light would illuminate randomly. the failure and current mileage was 69,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 nissan rogue. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated and stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,421.

My nissan rogue has been to the dealership 3 times (tomorrow makes 3) to have the transmission replaced. the transmission went out in august 2012, april 2013 and now again july 2013. i was told the nissan dealership that this is a known issue with the crt transmission. my car gets up to about 70 miles per hour and then i'm literally push the gas pedal to the floor and my car won't go over 40-50 miles per hour. now my car is lunging forward when it's at a complete stop. i asked nissan what would happen if the transmission goes out again after repairs tomorrow and i was told they will just keep repairing it until my warranty is up and then unfortunately i'd be on my own. *tr

While traveling on highway car lost power and would not accelerate past 35mph. upon exit from highway, would not go past 20 mph. took car to dealer and was told it needed a transmission oil change. this weekend it occurred again. my son was driving it and it became too dangerous to attempt crossing an intersection. returned to dealer and they said it needed another transmission fluid change. there is no indicator light, no error code to tell you the transmission needs service. the manual is vague with regards to change intervals. luckily my son is an adult who knew how to handle the situation. an inexperienced, elderly or even distracted driver could have been severely injured. my son was glad he was not rear ended when he did not proceed into the intersection. *tr

Problem in july 2012- at a stop light , went to accelerate, and nothing,, kept pushing gas pedal,, took out of drive and put back in , finally went., kept doing this at unexpected times. no service light went on. took to dealership, $600.00, later, they said it was my acceleration cable, and replaced it.. stated transmission had nothing to do with it.. still not running well, still makes whining noise - march 2013 started doing same thing with acceleration. , almost got killed taking a left hand turn and no acceleration. making high pitch noise @ 50-60 miles.took to dealership -said it was my transmission fluid, it was overfilled and bad color?. $ 200 to change fluid, still not agreeing to change out transmission. i looked on line , a ton of complaints on same issues.. all resulting in the cvt- how do i get the dealership to fix problem? *tr

Several times in the past few months, rogue will not accelerate when trying to go from stopped position. no power to go uphill or pull into traffic. this does not happen all the time, only occasionally, but is happening more often. yesterday, car did this while traveling at speed of 55+ mph. this was the first time it slowed while already at high speed. my daughter drives this vehicel and we are parking it for now as there have been several incidences where she has almost been hit by oncoming cars. *tr

While me and my child were traveling uphill on a busy freeway, i noticed the car was decelerating. no matter how hard i pressed on the pedal to increase the speed, the car continued to slow down. many cars behind us had to swerve from hitting us and honked for us to move out of their way. unfortunately, it was beyond my control and the car would not move. a couple of guys had to move our vehicle out of harms way. it was very stressful and dangerous. i'm so glad we were not hit by another vehicle. i ended up replacing that transmission with a used low mileage transmission which worked for a while. it is going on a year and i've been told the cvt transmission is slipping again. i've already spent thousands on this part alone. is there anything anyone can do about this faulty product. i can't afford to spend any more money on another faulty cvt transmission that will go bad again. *tr
