2006 nissan pathfinder 103k miles. we noticed vehicle would shudder upon acceleration at approximately 40 mph and again at 50 mph. also at times the engine would rev up like it couldn't shift to the next gear. if we slowed down to 50 and re-accelerated to 55 mph, the shuddering became a severe vibration. we took it to an independent mechanic since we had recently a bad experience with our local nissan dealer in fixing another problem (timing chain). the mechanic dropped the transmission pan and found the radiator was leaking coolant into the transmission fluid. mechanic stated we were very lucky to have caught this right away as it could have caused a lot of other problems too lengthy to mention here. mechanic replaced radiator and did a tranny flush but i'm not sure our problems are over. now the fuel gauge registers empty after i have just filled up with fuel, the service engine light came on, and now i am totally stressed out driving anywhere, and especially in traffic. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the fuel gauge displayed empty although the fuel tank was full. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the fuel tank sending unit would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). the approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
The fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate fuel level. the vehicle stalled while driving on highway due to empty tank while the fuel gauge indicated at least 5 gallons (1/4 tank) left in the tank. *tr
I filled my tank of gas, but the gas gauge still read empty with the fuel light on. my service engine light also came on. from that point on i could never keep track of my gas. it's either full or empty. sometimes it gets stuck between half tank & quarter tank. i cannot keep track of my miles traveled because once it reaches half tank the fuel light goes on & the meter starts blinking. *tr
Service engine soon light came on while driving recently. i researched possibilities on cause and discovered via the internet this was typical of this make/model/year and that the fuel level sensor and sending unit had issues. nissan info on recalls indicates that about 74,000 vehicles of this type/year had that problem and were being recalled. i took it to the gresham, or nissan dealer on oct 17, 2012 and after a check up was advised mine wasn't part of the recall. that will be $451 to replace. i declined and appealed with nissan - case #[xxx]. [xxx], at nissan, 1800-647-7261 x [xxx] says nissan can't help me. oct 29, 2012 very convenient on their part and frustrating on my part! can you help? thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Vehicle is a 2006 nissan pathfinder. vehicle demonstrates and experiences the symptoms described in nhtsa campaign number 10v075000. fuel gauge displays 1/4-tank of fuel present when this information is not correct. took same vehicle to local nissan dealer. asked about this specific recall, and my vehicles valid membership in the nhtsa recall group. dealer's service department ran a vin check in "the database" and advised me the recall does not apply to my vehicle, even though it demonstrates exact symptoms described in nhtsa recall. i believe this nissan dealer is confusing the nissan "voluntary warranty extension" program described as, "fuel sending unit program" with nhtsa campaign number 10v075000 - the latter not a voluntary but government-ordered recall. in april, 2014, i was driving this vehicle with three young children through the i-64 tunnel under where the atlantic ocean meets the james river in norfolk, virginia. our vehicle almost ran out of fuel in the undersea tunnel as i was relying upon the fuel gauge's report of just over 1/4-tank of fuel, when it was in fact, nearly empty. thankfully, we were able to clear the tunnel and make it to a nearby gas station, where based upon the amount of fuel the vehicle took, we were running "on fumes" and could have run out of gas - thereby blocking traffic inside the tunnel. component(s): fuel system, gasoline. *js
Our pathfinder has failed and been "repaired" 7 times now for the same problem. it's related to the issue about the fuel sending units. i was even also told by nissan that the sending unit was replaced before we purchased the vehicle with less than 22k miles. to date no less than 3 units have been installed (including the newly designed one 2x ) to address plastic gas tank issues. on three occasions we've run out of fuel. it registers 1/2 tank and then we run out. or it is supposed to have 1/2 tank and then drops to e and the empty fuel light comes on. this whole thing has passed the insane level. once i had to pay 400+ for repairs as the warranty on the vehicle was expired. i tried to argue it was covered under previous repairs but that's like spitting in the wind (nissan as well as the dealer cowels nissan). since the last "repair" a few months ago it has also failed 4 more times. we're just in the habit of using the trip meter. first question is this is a very serious safety issue when you potentially could just run out of gas on the interstate. also with all these errors in the computer the vehicle won't pass state safety inspections. last time nissan refused to replace the sender unit or authorize any repairs or pay for a loaner vehicle. they claimed the mechanic drove it home and found no errors...is there something you can help out with this issue. with all these repairs all these parts / labor warrantied for 12m / 12,000 miles. why are they not helping? can someone assist us here ? Vehicle shakes and transmission slipped when driving. dangerous in traffic. took to amoco and told the transmission fluid is mixing with the radiator and both failed. cost over $4,000 dollars to fix or it is utterly useless - just over 82k miles. investigation shows dangerous trend for safety and complete product defect, with years of foreknowledge by nissan. driving is dangerous since the vehicle doesn't accelerate consistently and steering violently shakes. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while refueling, she noticed that the fuel gauge would not display the accurate fuel level. the vehicle was later taken to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the fuel sending unit failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxiliary tank). the failure mileage was 87,200 and the current mileage 94,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would not display accurate readings. the fuel gauge displayed an empty reading when the fuel tank was actually full. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the fuel level sending unit needed to be replaced. the contact was also informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 136,000.
my 2006 nissan pathfinder had been having fuel gauge problems for several weeks. finally after the annoyance became too much, we took it to the nissan dealer. we were told that there was a known problem with the fuel gauge assembly that involved a recall. unfortunately for us, we missed the recall by less than four months. my complaint is that nissan knew there was a problem, then arbitrarily chose a date when the recall would end that would satisfy the nhtsa, but not fully cover the period when this problem could arise. limiting this recall by date can prove to be extremely prejudicial to the customer that purchases the vehicle later in the year; for example, purchasing the car in november 2006 versus january 2006 would place the consumer at an eleven month disadvantage. *tt
After filling my vehicle up with fuel, the gauge still read one quarter tank, and it took most of the day before the gauge slowly moved up to read full. after that, when the tank would reach 1/2 full, the gauge would start acting crazy. one minute it would read 1/2 full, the next second it would read empty and my gas light would come on. also, at half full down to one quarter full, the service engine soon light would come on. when i discovered that there was a recall on my year and model vehicle, i called nissan to inquire, but was told that due to my vin # my vehicle was not covered. the problem i was having with my fuel gauge is exactly the same problem that the recall covered, and the parts that i had to have replaced are the same parts that the recall covered. i had to pay $300 to have my vehicle repaired, when obviously the part covered in the recall was also defective in my vehicle. (campaign id #/nhtsa #: pc042/10v-075; applied vehicles 2006 & 2008 pathfinder, 2006 & 2008 frontier, 2006 & 2008 xterra). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the driver was driving and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection and the dealer stated that the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank). the failure mileage was 55,568.
Known issue with fuel system (nhtsa id # 10v075000) nissan acknowledges problems but put mileage limit on dealer paid repair. (approximately 1300 miles over) apparently defective manufacture issues have time limits regardless of safety issue associated with this. intermittent problems caused delays in identifying this issue. this is a major safety issue that should not have been timetabled, inaccurate and then failure of the fuel gauge. this is a failure of both nissan and the nhtsa to allow mileage to be the determining factor in limiting our safety. *tr
Took our vehicle to be serviced in 2012 to find out our vehicle was affected by the intermix the radiator cracked and leaked into the transmission they gave us an estimated cost of over $10,000.00 stated it was no good and to trade it in asap said we shouldnt drive it that it was dangerous so we parke dit. i was devistated we did everything in our power made reports called everyone possible nothing! tried to sue however i fell ill (cancer) and couldn't keep our hearing apt here in sacramento ca. its still parked in our garage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would show fuel levels that were inconsistent with the actual amount of fuel in the fuel tank. the vehicle was taken to dealer where the failure was determined to have been caused by a transmission coolant leak. there was also a faulty fuel level fender, providing incorrect readings. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxillary tank) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. the current mileage was 90,667. the failure mileage was unknown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to accurately measure the fuel levels in the reserve tank. as a result, the vehicle ran out of fuel when the fuel gauge indicated there was gasoline in the fuel tank. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not associated with nhtsa campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 65,000.
The fuel sensor went, the gas gauge dropped down to e and the gas warning light went on, which in turn set the check engine light on. when it first started it would work one day and then maybe not the next, as of october 2012, it does not work at all. i travel with 3 children, highway driving, daily. this is ridiculous and when i spoke to nissan, it apparently has been recalled but for only certain vin #'s, none of which is mine. this makes no sense. i cannot afford to fix it and knowing it is an obvious problem i have a hard time not making nissan responsible for it. if it was a fluke and it was just my vehicle, then yes i should be responsible to pay for it or deal with it but not when its apparent there is an issue. i try to mathematically figure out my mileage but some times that doesn't always work out and i have run out of gas with my children in the vehicle. please look into this, thank you. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving, the fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate fuel level reading, causing the vehicle to stall. the contact was unable to restart vehicle. the contact refueled the vehicle and was able to resolve the failure momentarily before recurring. the vehicle was taken to dealer who advised that the fuel sensor was defective. the vehicle was repaired by replacing the fuel sensor. in addition, the vehicle shifted out of gear abnormally. the dealer determined that the failure was caused by cooling fluid leaking into the radiator. the dealer then performed a transmission system flush and the failure was resolved. one year later after refueling the vehicle, the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to dealer who inspected the vehicle and determined that the transmission module system had failed. the failure was due to a leak of cooling fluid into the radiator system. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, no further assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 60,000. the approximate current mileage was 107,000.
