Fuel gauge stopped working leaving me without gas even though it said i had gas. i was driving when car shut off. between the transmission/radiator problem and the bad engine switch nissan only fixed my bad engine switch. the fuel gauge had messed up before last year (i filled it but gauge didn't move still showed empty). i searched and found there is a recall but my vehicle isn't covered. not sure why but i wish it was because it could of been deadly. i think they need to expand their vin numbers. the *tr

The fuel sending unit is stuck on 1/4 tank and they say there is no recall but there is on other vins. *tr
Nissan pathfinder just got to 100,000 miles when started experiencing transmission issues, turns out there was a factory warranty that i was never informed of that would have covered the radiator/transmission issue. however because i was not having an issue until the extended warranty ended nissan is refusing to cover the cost of repairs despite knowing about this engineering fault. it is extremely frustrating that a large company such as nissan is able to send a vehicle out into the public with known engineering flaws and put a mileage limit on repairing the issue. it is something that will inevitably fail but it is only a matter of time so it might have occurred within the limit for some and outside the limit for others. it is my hope that you will expose this shady and unsafe practice that nissan has going and help get people the repairs they deserve. *tr
When i fill up my gasoline tank the instrument panel fuel gauge shows that i do not have any gasoline; this causes the fuel warning light to remain on. i have completely filled up my tank a number of times and this problem has been occurring for about four months. i believe there is problem with the fuel sender float arm because the instrument panel fuel gauge shows inaccurate levels of fuel. i am afraid that i may run out of gas and not be in the area of a gas station. this is dangerous because i need to know at all times what my fuel levels are. i am afraid to drive long distances. i have no way of determining how low my fuel really is or how much is in the gas tank. a diagnostic test revealed a code that found the vehicle had a bad fuel sending unit. the consumer referenced recall # 10v075000. however, he was informed the recall did not apply to his vehicle, because it was outside of the warranty period. updated 05/27/15. *jb

I was driving to work on a 30 degree morning after just dropping my son (diagnosed with sickle cell disease) to school. had this been prior to dropping him to school he would have been sitting in the freezing vehicle for 30mins until my husband was able to get to us and this could have aggravated his condition. i was pressing on the gas pedal but the vehicle would not accelerate and i am showing a quarter tank of gas left in the vehicle so did not think that was the problem. i was able to pull to the side of the road as the vehicle stalled. i then contacted my husbands at work and he had to leave to come check on the vehicle and determined it may need gas because everything else looked ok and we had just completed a service with no mention of any issues with the vehicle. he drove me to the gas station in his vehicle where we purchased some gas came back poured it in the vehicle and it started up and was fine. i didn't think much of it until it happened again in the middle of rush hour traffic (am). i then decided to check for any recalls and found there was a recall for the same issue 2006 nissan pathfinder fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxiliary tank nhtsa campaign #10v075000 we then addressed this with nissan and they advised that although it is the same exact issue, my vin number was not included in the recall so correcting this issue is at my expense. this should not be at my expense especially since there is a known identical issue with the part. *tr
My vehicle, as i had thought, had 1/4 tank of gas when all of a sudden the fuel gauge showed no gas whatsoever and my gas light turned on. while driving another 20 miles to my nearest gas station, my vehicle started to slowly de-accelerate. i had to pull over to the side of the road and my car no longer had speed and i realized it was because i had no gas when i thought i did. i was able to put gas on my car and sure enough it started running again but being that i only put about 10 gallons of gas, my gas light still stayed on and my nozzle still showed below the empty line. i was worried every day that i would run out and sure enough this incident happened two more times. before that though, i viewed to see if there were any recalls regarding this issue and sure enough there was one. i decided to call my local nissan and after providing my vin #, i was told that my vehicle did not fall under the specified issue. if i wanted to fix it, it would cost me around $450 dollars, which i did not have. i was told i can pay a $100 diagnostic fee to see if my fuel sensor was messed up and if it was they would send notice to nissan headquarters to see if they will cover my issue. i have to fork over $100 for them to view my car and its no guarantee that corp will approve for nissan to fix issue. is there something else i can do or has anybody had same issue as me? *tr
Transmission failed with no notice only 110000 miles upset and not safe! now i have no car and nissan wants to charge me 8,500 to fix seems so unjust i'm a widow with children and struggled to pay for my car and this shouldn't happen at just over 100 thousand miles! *tr
Check engine light went on and fuel registered empty on the dash. since that time fuel gauge has not registered correctly going from full to empty at sporadic time but will never register less than 1/2 a tank causing issues as you never now how much fuel you have until you run out which is a safety hazard. took to nissan they said it was a fuel gauge issue and it would be over 500 to fix as they had to drop the tank to get at the fuel sensor. i was told there was a recall don't know why it didn't register as other pathfinders have this issue . also don't know why a mileage warranty is put on this they should fix the issue with the fuel tank regardless as it seems as soon as the vehicle hits 70k in mileage this breaks on the vehicle. also don't believe they included all pathfinders in this warranty as i am sure the dealer would have replaced it if it was a recall. *jb
I own a 2006 nissan pathfinder, first my fuel sensor failed, and now at approx 92,000 miles my vehicle has this horrible vibration at 45mph and 60 mph. after thinking it was my tires off balance and having them serviced and an alignment done, i decided to do some research online and called my nissan service dept. to my surprise this is a very common problem with this vehicle and it is a problem with the transmission and radiator fluids mixing, causing the tranny to fail. if this is not a major safety concern i am not sure what is. please review, it will cost the consumer approx $8,000 to fix and not to mention the inconvenience. if this were an isolated incident i would not complain, but there are a massive amount of complaints. i even contacted nissan corp. and after 3 weeks i am still waiting on a return call. i do highway driving and have 3 children in my vehicle daily. this is a major concern. *tr

I had transmission problems, the transmission started vibrating and then would not move, i took to local transmission shop, they advised there was a problem in the radiator causing damage to transmission, i took to nissan dealer they advised that nissan had extended the warranty to 80,000 miles due to the radiator, however nissan had not sent any information regarding a problem are extending the warranty. if i had known there was a problem with radiator, i would have had it checked prior to the 80,000 miles. then nissan sends letter that they are extending warranty to 100,000 miles with a 3,000 dollar deductible. if i had received a letter earlier from nissan about the problem, i would have taken the nissan to a dealer prior to the 80,000 miles. at times the transmission would stall out when making a turn, which could have caused a serious accident; fortunately there were no on coming traffic. the car also has a fuel gauge which gives a false reading at all times to the actual amount of fuel in the tank due to a faulty sending unit. so now i am stuck with a bill for 3,000 dollars. i feel nissan was negligent in not advising their customers of the problem earlier. the dealer then called me and told me that the timing chain was worn and needed to be replaced at a cost of 2,000 dollars. my nissan has less than 100,000 miles and the radiator, transmission and timing chain are faulty, and nissan should cover these charges. *tr
We have had 3 separate incidents where our fuel gauge was reading 1/4 of a tank and it was actually empty. my wife was stranded with my young children for an hour before she was able to get gas. i contacted nissan and advised them of the incident and that there was a recall for a fuel tank problem. they then advised me that my vin was not part of the recall. how is it that tens of thousands of vehicles in the same year and model had the same issue but mine was not one. *tr
Known issue with fuel system (nhtsa id # 10v075000) nissan acknowledges problems but put mileage limit on dealer paid repair. (approximately 1300 miles over) apparently defective manufacture issues have time limits regardless of safety issue associated with this. intermittent problems caused delays in identifying this issue. this is a major safety issue that should not have been timetabled, inaccurate and then failure of the fuel gauge. this is a failure of both nissan and the nhtsa to allow mileage to be the determining factor in limiting our safety. *tr
On tuesday feb 14, 2012 i took my car in cause it had a recall for the gas gauge not reading gas level. my car was reading check engine soon, car was working perfect they put the computer on and nothing came up as the car having anything wrong with it. even the check engine light had turned off. on friday feb 17, 2012 while driving in the middle of the highway my car completely turned off and would not start at all i had someone help me push the car to the side of the road, where then i finally got it to start again. called nissan and they told me they can send a tow truck to bring it into the dealer but if has nothing to do with the work that was done i have to be responsible for the tow. the person at the dealer that i spoke to said that according to the information i was giving him of the problem it may have something to do with the work but he couldn't be sure. on sat feb 18, 2012 i took my car into the dealer, now they tell me that all of a sudden the cracker system of the car was bad because when they changed the fuel gauge there's more electricity is going in and that was the problem i had to pay 300.46 for something that i was not told could happen if i fixed something that wasn't given me any real problems before. now the car is saying check engine soon again and the truth is i'm afraid to take it back to the dealer. i've had that car for 6 years never, ever had a problem with the car i take it to the dealer and now different things are coming up. *tr

Fuel sending unit ..... tank reads 1/4 to 1/3 to empty on panel and runs out of gas ....while driving gauge fluctuates to full half and none after filing up and continues to do so no matter how much fuel ...... digital reading says 0 to 30 to 120 to 300 miles after filling up ... check engine light is on giving a error code for fuel sender.... there was a recall on the 2006 nissan pathfinder for this issue but nissan states that my vehicle does not fall in the recall ...... vehicle was manu 05/06... and has the same issue as the recall for 80,000 other nissan vehicles made the same year...nissan wants me to pay 98.00 for a diagnostic when i've had one done by a auto shop and the code matches the fuel sending unit.... nissan states they are unsure if they will cover the fuel sender or assist in repairdue to the fact my 06 pathfinder wasn't included in the recall. *tr
Within a year of having the fuel level sending unit replaced as part of a recall, the same symptom appeared as described in the recall and as was happening before the initial recall work was done. the root cause of the problem was a deformation of the fuel tank that would cause the sending unit to "hang up". when i returned to the nissan dealership to repair the problem again, they then told me that the problem was a bulging fuel tank and wanted to replace the fuel tank. i contacted nissan consumer affairs, they reviewed my claim and decided they would not cover the repairs. in my mind the root cause was never truly addressed and now i am paying to repair what should have been initially repaired in the first place. *tr

I received a warranty notification for my '06 nissan pathfinder stating that model year 2005-2008 pathfinder vehicles, an issue with the fuel sending unit may cause the fuel gauge to inaccurately display the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. i had been experiencing this problem for a while just hadn't had the funds to fix it. nissan is extending your vehicle's new vehicle limited warranty as it applies to the fuel gauge sending unit from 36 months / 36,000 miles to 72 months 72,000 miles. after placing the call on friday dec.3, 2010 to romeo #41550 informed me to go get a vehicle diagnostic performed on my car. went to nissan south paid $107.48 they determined that it was indeed the fuel gauge sender unit tech found code p0463. the advisor muhammad stated that my reference number was forwarded to a regional specialist christy ferreda ext. 1658 for further review. i left several messages to find out the status and on 12/8/10 4:10 pm melissa ext. 1658 from nissan called me back and stated that it was still being reviewed and she would get back in touch with me friday or monday and that she had other customer's and that's why she can't answer her phone. she also stated that it wasn't really a recall it was just an extension of the warranty. while i was having the car checked they also replaced a ecm relay on recall that i didn't even know about. very unhappy with my nissan pathfinder and all of the many recalls and the servicethat i am receiving is terrible. as i stated to mellisa i am expecting for them to replace that part and reimburse me for the $107.48 because they know about there defective part and it is the right thing to do . *tr

I purchased a pre-owned 2006 pathfinder le from honda, during the test drive the car was ok, but as soon as we sign sales contract got the keys and they gave us a $20 gas re-imburstent, vehicle's fuel gauge went wacky and said that we were on empty and light came on. took it back to the dealership and they sent me to their 3rd party mechanic who are wonderful and changed out the fuel sender. car ran find afterwards, not even 2 months later and only put about 1200 miles on the vehicle, problem re-occurred. called honda and the sales man that sold us the car said to bring it back to their 3rd party but did not guarantee that they will help pay for the issue. did some research and found that their has been a recall on the same make and model of car that i purchased, but when i called nissan to ask if vehicle is under warranty they said no it is not and they cannot do anything or will assist me in anyway, but would like me to take it to nissan dealer to get it diagnosed at my cost, and to call them back to give them feed back. i said no thanks, and now i have been trying to contact the pre-owned sales manager by phone but he will not return my calls, i will go tomorrow to their office to see again if they will help me with the cost and find a permanent fix since this is my family vehicle which i told the sales man. *tr

The gas gauge on my 2006 nissan pathfinder read 1/4 of tank of gas remaining and suddenly engine stopped running and i had to pull over to the shoulder. after my husband exhausted all efforts trying to detect the problem, he put gas in it to see if that was it (because gauge was reading 1/4 of tank remaining.) after putting gas in, car started and we drove it home. went to gas station to fill up with gas and service engine soon light came on and gas gauge no longer works properly. i usually get 330 miles to tank of gas and now the gas light comes on and stays on after going 200 miles on a tank. nissan dealership wants $500 to repair and as it turns out, thousands of people are having the same problem. it is very dangerous to drive down the highway and not know if your vehicle is going to shut off because you don't have gas in it (when you do have gas in it...just not enough for some sensor in your gas tank to recognize.) i have held off on paying for this repair because i want nissan to recall this fuel issue and repair it. i have been a loyal nissan customer (2 maximas before this pathfinder) but this is starting to change my mind. *tr
