Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan corporation has a manufacture defect in their radiator which causes coolant to leak into the transmission. this action need a nationwide recall on both parts (radiator and transmission). just like toyota corporation had nationwide attention, nissan need the same ordeal. the vehicle in question is a 2005 nissan pathfinder. this vehicle has extended warranty which was not honor. quoted when purchasing the extended warranty, "everything is cover from bumper to bumper, even down to the bolts". this is a misleading statement from the warranty department. warranty department would not honor the warranty due to coolant was in the transmission. money was paid for this purpose, now they say the warranty does not cover this mishap. after researching and talking with skills mechanics, it was discovered that the coolant came from a defective (busted) radiator. the mechanics stated this is becoming a common problem. *tr

It all started with the radiator and the only reason i even knew something was wrong was that my gears were switching weird. i took the car into the dealership, they told me that i needed to get a new radiator and transmission b/c my radiator fluid was leaking into my transmission. they quoted me at $6000. i then took my car to get a new radiator and transmission flush, it helped a little. my car finally gave out 2 weeks ago. while driving down a side street, thenall of a sudden the transmission wouldn't switch gears. i tried pressing the gas to go and the transmission would not go. the car was still running, however i couldn't grab any gears to go. i got it towed to a transmission shop, they told me that my radiator fluid is leaking into my transmission which made my transmission lock up. they took my transmission apart to look at parts and apparently everything is rusty together, not to mention the "computer" in the transmission is fried. you would think that nissan would recognize an issue when they see that same part is on backorder b/c i am waiting on a part. while reading others with the same issue, some have been on the highway and the transmission went out. this is definitely a safety issue seeing as if driving at high speeds you could possibly get rear ended badly. i almost got rearended while only going 45mph. *tr

I have taken my 2005 nissan pathfinder to my dealer ,because of a rumbling sound;the mechanic said that the radiator has a internal damage and cause the antifreeze to leak to the transmission. i do have a extended warranty that the dealer also refuse to take because the radiator is not cover but the transmission it is,but they still will not repair the transmission. *tr

My 2005 nissan pathfinder has a defect involving fluid from the radiator leaking into the transmission. this is a known defect that posted about by many others and it causes my car to shake violently between speeds of 45-65 mph. neither nissan n.a. nor the dealership where i bought the car, rt 22 nissan in nj, have been cooperative in rectifying or even addressing how to fix the problem. *tr

My 2005 nissan pathfinder has 58,000 and shakes violently once i reach 40 mph and over especially on the highway. i took it to my local nissan dealer and it was diagnosed with the radiator leaking into the transmission making it shake very violently. the estimated cost to repair this huge problem is anywhere from $3500-$4500. i called nissan headquarters only to hear that my warranty already expired and that they can't do anything about this problem. this is a serious safety and mechanical problem that should be recalled since they have terrible engineering and could possibly cause an major accident and someone's life. *tr

1) the transmission completely failed with no previous warning/indication on a 2005 nissan pathfinder around the 82k mile mark. i just bought the car used less than 1 month and 1k miles previously. i was in the process of merging onto an expressway at the time and found myself unable to fully accelerate. i basically coasted it off the road at this point. although an accident was averted one could have easily occurred. 2) from what i was told, the transmission seized up entirely, and all of the fluids drained out entirely. it only happened once, however it caused my vehicle to instantly be "dead in the water". 3) the car had to be towed to the dealership to have the u-joint and the transmission replaced (new) for a roughly 7200 total price tag that fortunately for me the extended warranty company ultimately covered (minus the deductible) after much back and forth / inspections over 6 weeks. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated when driving at 40 mph in overdrive, the vehicle would abnormally vibrate excessively as if driving over an extremely uneven road surface.the failure would correct itself when the accelerator pedal was depressed but would return momentarily. the failure became progressively worse and on one occasion, while driving at 70 mph, the failure occurred and the contact was under the impression that he had a blown tire. the vehicle was taken to the contact's personal mechanic where he was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was then taken to the dealer where he was advised the radiator fluid was leaking into transmission and causing the failure. the dealer advised replacing both the radiator and transmission at the contact's expense. the manufacturer was contacted and the contact was awaiting a response to determine if they would assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000 and the current mileage was 75,432.

We own a 2005 nissan pathfinder. recently the transmission is slow to engage. it has failed at times while pulling out from a stop. it places the vehicle occupants in a dangerous situation because the vehicle fails to move forward and you are pulling out into traffic. our vehicle has 65000 miles on it, just over the warranty limit. we recently took it to the local dealership who diagnosed the problem to a faulty radiator and transmission. a $6000 repair estimate was given to us. from what information i have found by my own research, this is a common occurrence that nissan is fully aware of but refuses to recall. we have contacted nissan consumer affairs which has been a total waste of time. this problem is a serious safety issue in my opinion. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder transmission radiator issue. there are plenty of posts online regarding the same problem. the radiator leaks coolant into the transmission fluid lines. which in turn causes irreversible damage to the transmission. which is around a $4000 part. *tr

Tl-*he contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership for a diagnostic test where the contact was informed that the radiator coolant was leaking into the transmission; both the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the current and failure mileages were approximately 90,000.

2005 nissan pathfinder le, have had to replace the fuel sensor unit at own expense when it wouldn't show correct amount of fuel left in tank below half full. this problem occurred about 50k miles. now with just under 95k miles, am having issue with transmission not locking into overdrive. this is the situation often described as heavy vibration around 45 mph, as well as around 60 mph. have had dealer as well as independent shop look at this both saying it is a well known issue across the country with this make/model/year. as of this point - no cross-contamination has been found with the coolant and the transmission fluid. i am looking at around 5k in costs for a new transmission which has never been involved in an heavy accident nor driven off-road or anything besides city and highway driving. not very reliable from my point of view and needs to be investigated why so many have been faulty - and if found to be design, then why isn't it at least part of the responsibility of nissan to help owners of these vehicles? *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle transmission and radiator failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission coolant had leaked into the radiator and the radiator fluid leaked into the transmission. as a result, both the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was out of warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 150,000. the vin was not available.

Transmission shaking at 40-45 mph. is constant until transmission changes gears. nissan replaced the transmission for a fee. after replacement the new transmission experiences the same symptoms. took it in again and they said the radiator is leaking into the transmission. pathfinder is in service and i have to pay for the parts and labor. reading the complaints this is a known issue and should be a recall. *tr

Vehicle shutters and shakes in overdrive at @ 40/45 mph and does not properly engage gears during operation of vehicle. the transmission fails during normal navigation through traffic. confirmed factory defective radiator leaked coolant into transmission causing ruined transmission. *tr

After transmission flush, transmission failed shortly thereafter. replaced transmission june 2009. march 2010 had vibration problem and returned for transmission repair again. second torque converter replaced. within 1 week vibration issue returned. dealer review confirmed that coolant from radiator had leaked into transmission and that radiator and transmission need to be replaced. this would be my second transmission, and third torque converter in less than a year, due to a faulty radiator used by nissan in '05 & '06 models. *tr

At around 56,600 miles noticed car shaking vigourously when driving over 50 mph. this mileage typically occurring on highway and steering wheel shakes and vibrates and car gears feels like it keeps slipping until you slow down below 40mph. i bought my car brand new, 2005 nissan pathfinder se and have seen several complaints about a defective radiator in these vehicles which cracks and causes fluids to leak into transmission and destroy it. although my transmission is still covered under the 5yr/60,000 mi warranty, they will not address the problem because the radiator hasn't been recalled as yet.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stopped at a stop sign and when she attempted to accelerate forward, the vehicle instead moved backward. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where she was informed that the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced because of a leak in the radiator which also caused the transmission to stop functioning correctly. the vehicle was at the dealership being repaired at the time of the complaint. the current and failure mileages were approximately 74,000.

I took my car to a nissan dealership complaining about issues with the transmission slipping. i was told they found nothing wrong- however the nissan technician was fully aware of the issues with the transmission radiator coolant and failed to inform me of the possible issue. why not just replace the radiator before it causes the transmission to go bad. finally the transmission failed at 130k miles and of course i am told that i am out of luck and $4200. i think it is really sad that nissan offered extended warranties for customers under certain miles and left others out in the cold. if there was enough evidence to prove they were aware of the defect all along then customers should be able to have this repaired at no cost to them regardless of the number of miles on the vehicle. *tr

I bought my 2005 nissan pathfinder new from the dealer. at about 70,000 miles i started having transmission problems and was told that nissan had a severe problem with the radiator leaking into the transmission and ruining it. i had to replace the transmission and the radiator at a cost of about $3,000. i believe that nissan should have had a recall since this problem is so widely documented. i have also had to have the power module, the thermostat , the sunvisor, and the hydraulic lifts for the back hatch all replaced with the car still under 80,000 miles. needless to say, i won't be looking for a nissan product when i shop for my next car. *tr

tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle started vibrating. he took the vehicle to the dealer and he was advised that the transmission needed to be rebuilt because the radiator was leaking fluid into the transmission. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer had not been contacted. the failure mileage was 125,000. the current mileage was 131,000.

My 2005 nissan pathfinder with 67k miles developed a "shudder" at 40 mph and 60 mph, approximately when the car was shifting from 3rd into 4th gear and from 4th into 5th gear. took it to the dealer and was told that the transmission cooler (part of the radiator system) had leaked coolant into the transmission, ruining the transmission, and that both would need to be replaced, at a cost of approximately $5700. the vehicle is one month short of five years old, but is 7k miles past the warranty expiration and has been problem-free up to this point. after doing some research online, i found hundreds of similar complaints, along with reports that nissan was refusing to pay for repairs to the transmission because the root problem was with the radiator. this is a well-documented problem online; why is nissan refusing to do a recall? you'd think they'd want to avoid the pr disaster toyota is currently enduring ... *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder (56,000 miles) has defective radiator which leaks fluid into transmission, now needs both radiator and transmission replaced. transmission is covered under warranty but because of nissan's bad radiator they will not cover the cost of either. *tr

My 2005 nissan pathfinder has a faulty radiator which leaks back into the transmission. the vehicle has less than 60,000 miles and the dealer says nissan will not cover the transmission damage. on emonds.com there are hundreds of complaints for the same exact complaint from other owners. the problem causes the vehicle to shake at highway speeds.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the air conditioner would not blow cold air when the vehicle was idled. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that there was a leak within the air conditioner. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also stated that the vehicle would experience trouble shifting into first or second gear. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 100,000. the vin was unavailable.

Vehicle hesitates during overdrive at speed of @ 40-50mph. vibration occurs and gears do not properly engage. failure is due to defective radiator leaking fluids into transmission. nissan installed defective radiator in 2005 pathfinder. they refuse to correct the problem leading to damaged transmission! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle momentarily stopped accelerating for a few seconds. after a few seconds, the vehicle continued to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told the transmission fluid needed to be replaced. while replacing the transmission fluid the authorized dealer noticed the transmission fluid and radiator fluid were mixing. the radiator was replaced and the fluids were flushed. the failure mileage was 88,000 and the current mileage was 106,000.

2005 nissan pathfinder with 106,000 miles has had 3 transmissions replaced since june 2009. dealership covered them under warranty, but now other non-warranty issues are occurring which were caused by those transmission failures. vehicle has had the transcooler replaced, hoses, and radiator replaced and flushed...at my cost. vehicle makes a dangerously loud vibrating noise between 40-60 mph and begins to shake. almost causing an accident. parts that were replaced were kept at the dealership and are not available at this time. this is a recurring problem that happens every 2 months or so. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder started having shifting problems, had 60k service done at dealer, started again, flushed again at 72 had problems again at 80 and at 87k the radiator core failed and leaked into the transmission causing the transmission to fail and seize total cost for repairs 4400.00 after hearing about this i did a little search and found this is a big problem with this car, as the shifting is a precurser to the failure, i wanted the dealer to cover since they assured me it was ok.. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder transmission slipping out of gear while driving. i called nissan and they claims that they know nothing about, however there are several others with exactly the same problems online at car space automotive forums. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact was driving 40 mph when the vehicle began to vibrate violently. the contact was able to continue driving the vehicle normally. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the failure was caused by transmission fluid leaking into the radiator. the contact was displeased to know the authorized dealer was not financially responsible for the repair cost. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 75,974. the current mileage was 76,000.

Regular driving minimal to hardly any towing. transmission and coolant flushed religiously at 30k since taken ownership. current mileage 80k. failure of radiator cross contaminates atf and coolant, eventually destroying transmission costing $5000 to repair aside from disabling the vehicle. this is an issue on many 2005 pathfinder, xterra and frontiers equipped with 4.0l v6 coupled with 5 speed automatic transmission. vehicle is currently at the dealership. nissan must take responsibility. *tr

This is reference to 2005 nissan pathfinder le. i was driving on the freeway and the suv started to slow down. i press down the gas pedal to give it more power but it wouldn't accelerate. i pulled to side of the freeway and turn the engine off to diagnose the problem. i couldn't find anything wrong so i tried to restart it but would not crank over. the metro freeway towing company try to jump start it 3 times but would not start. i had it tow to the nissan dealer in the city of west covina which they discover that the coolant from the radiator leaked into the transmission. the mixure of the two components burned out the ecm module in the transmission. the cost of replacing the radiator and transmission is approximately $5400.00, the vechicle is still at the nissan dealer which i am currently trying find a resoluation to this matter. bottom line who is going to pay for this bill since there are numerous complaints about this issue. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan pathfinder that has begun to show signs of the engine coolant leakage into the transmission fluid problem that has been reported by several other consumers. the problems occurring are severe transmission slippage at high speeds and vibration at speeds between 45-55 mph. i have been experiencing these problems for several days and am contacting nissan for the dreaded formal diagnosis. this is an issue that needs immediate attention as the catastrophic failure of a vehicle transmission at high speed can lead to an accident with potential for very serious injury or death. the problem is well know to nissan and has occurred in other model years as well and they have been unwilling to address the issue. it appears nissan will continue to ignore the coolant leakage into the transmission fluid via the radiator design flaw until directed to do so. this has been reported in many consumer forums related to nissan pathfinders of years 2005-2007. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder with 74,500 miles needs transmission replacement and radiator due to leaking of radiator coolant into transmission, mixing up with transmission oil damaging transmission. looking at customer complaints online, it looks as every pathfinder with above 60,000 miles suffers the same problem. *tr

1) car started to stutter at first, then kick, then buck when hitting 60mph. then it started doing it at 30mph, 45mph and again at 60mph. 2) it won't automatically shift (yes it is an automatic) in 3 or more gears once the car has been warmed up 3) car was taken to dealer for diagnostic (at their request) and they said the most "cost effective" way is to replace the radiator and the transmission due to a leaking radiator hose that manages to get liquid into the transmission. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. while the contact was driving 40 mph, the transmission shifted from 5th gear to overdrive without assistance. there were no prior warnings. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the technician recommended that the transmission be replaced. the vehicle has not been repaired at this time. the current and failure mileages were 79,000.

2005 nissan pathfinder shudders at speeds between 40-60 mph. local dealer says tranny and radiator need to be replaced at a cost of 5000-$7000. bought the suv with 73000, it now has 79000. many others have complained of this problem , nissan needs to take action on their faulty engineering. *tr

I just recently purchased a 2005 nissan pathfinder. just a couple of short weeks after owning the vehicle, i began to notice a strange vibration noise (like you are driving over a grooved surface) coming from the vehicle around 2000-2500 rpms or 45-65 mph. after doing some research online (http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f177b6c/8#msg8) i have found out that there are a ton of people having this same exact problem on the '05 nissan pathfinders. apparently, there is a hose that runs from the radiator to the transmission and there is a chronic problem with antifreeze leaking from the radiator into the transmission, thus causing the transmission to begin to malfunction and then ultimately shut down. as you can see from the post on edmunds.com, this is a chronic issue impacting all 2005 nissan pathfinder owners. i do not have the money to get the radiator/transmission replaced on this vehicle. yet, i must have transportation to get to/fro work. this is obviously defective engineering on nissans part and they need to take ownership of this issue and address the faulty engineering here before someone's transmission shuts down at 60mph causing a crash on one of our highways/interstates. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder transmission is slipping and car shakes violently while driving on the highway at about 60-70mph. i've contacted nissan consumer affairs about this problem but they are refusing to repair it due to not spending enough money at their dealerships and due to the high mileage(problem started around 90k, currently about 110k) of my vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle started to jerk violently and there was an increase in engine rpms. the vehicle was taken to a local shop prior to the failure where it was diagnosed that the transmission was defective and needed to be dismantled in order to determine the exact failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 105,000.

I own a 2005 nissan pathfinder and i have been having problems with the heat staying consistent (does not blow hot air when idle) as well a vibration when driving at certain speeds. i also begin to notice that transmission began to slip. i would stop at a red light and go to take off and would not be able to pick up speed which can be dangerous when entering the highway. i researched this online and found many others having the same problems. i took the truck to a nissan dealership and they told me exactly what i already knew, the radiator was now no good and leaking antifreeze into the transmission which has caused both of them to be ruined and they want to charge me 5k to replace. i asked if the dealership has seen this before and it was confirmed that several of the same vehicles have been in for this very reason. he advised that nissan has not paid for these services as the vehicles are always out of warranty on the radiator. i still have 2000 miles left on my powertrain and advised that i would be contacting nissan for "goodwill" assistance. nissan finally contacted me and advised that since the problem was initially caused by the radiator, they would not honor the powertrain warranty. they also advised me that since i was not considered "loyal" to nissan as this is my first vehicle with them they could not help me. i do think it is fair to hold the consumer responsible for fixing the transmission as clearly the radiator is defective and the problem doesn't begin until after it is out of warranty. i cannot afford to pay 5k for the transmission and i shouldn't have to. if this was a rare case or caused by the consumer then, yes we should be held responsible but this is clearly a defect as all nissan dealerships are aware of this problem. please assist us and issue a recall for these parts as driving this vehicle is unsafe. *tr

While driving our 2005 pathfinder on the hwy i noticed smoke ( a lot)coming from the back of the vehicle. the car was also losing rpms (like the tranny was slipping) the shop said the radiator leaked into the transmission and fried the transmission ($7000).nissan here locally stated they have seen this problem before in the model. the engine stopped smoking after 20 minutes, had to evacuate four children on the hwy. this is second posted complaint about this problem. the shop states this is a design flaw.*cw

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated the transmission failed and the vehicle would start to vibrate when driving 55 mph or more. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where a transmission flush was performed. the dealer advised that there was no need for repairs yet the failure persisted. the contact took the vehicle to a second dealer and was advised that fluid was backed up in the transmission. the radiator and transmission would both need replacing. the failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 86,000.

My 2005 nissan pathfinder is having the same transmission problems that so many others are having. it seems that nissan had a defective batch of radiators that has let coolant leak into the transmission causing vibrations, hesitation and eventually failure.we have three foster children and one of them is an infant with a feeding tube and track i do not want to get a call from my wife saying she has broken down on the road on her way to visitation with the biological parents or to doctor appointments. nissan is clearly avoiding this problem! i expect they will start taking action when lawsuits start rolling in on them. mr. ceo of nissan may find this thing parked in his living room if something happens to my foster children because of breaking down. just kidding, but i will be pissed. someone please do something about this!!! *tr

I own a 2005 nissan pathfinder. i have come to find that the transmission is failing due to a defective radiator letting radiator fluid into the transmission. my car, which has 88k miles is now out of the 60k mi. nissan warranty. from doing research online i see that this is a very, common problem and seems to affect all 2005 pathfinders. as this has been a known problem for some time nissan could have warned about the issue (replacing the radiator before it failed and failed the transmission) as well it most likely started failing before the warranty expired. nissan will not fix the issue. i feel that nissan should be compelled to fix this issue for all 2005 pathfinder owners. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder has problems with antifreeze leaking into the transmission because of some design flaw. after researching this problem i see that there are many complaints of this occurring with this same particular model. the transmission starts to make a grinding noise and then will start slipping. nissan is aware of the problem because they are the one that has diagnosed it over and over again, but have refused to issue a tsb or recall. this is a very serious defect and is costing people 5 to 10 thousand dollars to fix. my 2005 nissan pathfinder has just begun the tell tale symptoms of this costly problem. nissan should consider the problems that toyota is having right now and issue a recall for this defect. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. he stated that the vehicle was taken into the dealer for maintenance and they advised him that fluid was leaking from the radiator into the transmission. the vehicle was repaired at the owners expense. he also stated that the defective part should be recalled. the failure mileage was 39000. the current mileage was 40350. updated 03/26/10. *lj the consumer stated there was a problem with the transmission. updated 07/23/10*jb

In dec. '09, noticed rear end vibration and clinking sound. thought it might be transmission problem. pure coincidence-brought it to dealer for coolant flush was told that there was trans fluid in my radiator. called my trans repair people (not nissan). they were aware of problem. told me that radiators in pathfinder 2005's were defective. coolant leaked through one of radiator trans coolers, into trans. and trans fluid leaked back into radiator, rendering both irreparable. needed new trans and radiator. told dealer and nissan. through several phone calls/negotiations,, nissan agreed to do the $5,000-7000 repair for dealer labor charge of $450. told me i would get money back if there was a recall. dealer did repair. the problem is also a safety issue, because radiator and/or trans can fail while on the road. countless pathfinder owners have reported the problem to no avail. nissan getting away with a major defect that could prove dangerous. *tr

Own a 2005 nissan pathfinder with 64,000 right now.. which is out of warranty. had the check engine light on for couple of months.. the truck has been at the dealer and also private mechanics... nobody could find anything wrong with the car until it completely shut down on me. wouldn't start had it towed to the nearest mechanic he said the car had electrical problems had the whole fuse box replaced paid $450 two days later the check engine light came on again took it to the dealer nothing wrong was found went back home.. right now my car is at a private mechanic... because wouldn't go more than 40 mph.... the mechanic said is the radiator which is broken and antifreeze leaked in the transmission please help.... i see there's a lot of people having the same problem these vehicles are defective just to get it fixed is close to $10,000. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that in february 2010 while driving approximately 40 mph, the rear passenger tire began to shake excessively. the faster the contact drove, the worse the shaking became. when the contact slowed the vehicle down, the shaking seemed to stop. there were no warning lights illuminated to indicate what the cause of the failure could be. the contact took the vehicle to an authorized dealer who stated that the radiator had been leaking fluid into the transmission and both would have to be replaced. the contact then took the vehicle to a local repair shop where the transmission was being rebuilt when the complaint was filed. the manufacturer stated that they could not offer any assistance regarding the repairs since the vehicle was taken to an outside repair shop instead of an authorized dealer. the current and failure mileages were approximately 83,000.
