My 2009 nissan murano locks on rear doors for both passenger and driver side started failing intermittently and i could only open them by reaching in from front and manually flipping lock. now they are not working at all. i brought them to my service mechanic and he quoted approx. $500 for each! i don't have that kind of money to put into this car. recently i had my elderly parents visiting and realized how dangerous it was that my mother could not get out of the car on her own as the rear passenger door won't open from the inside. but when i "alarm/lock" the car, the doors will still open and the alarm will sound. but there is no safety of having locked doors the driver side door still works but there is a miserable rattle inside. this is the most annoying, unsafe and poor quality problem i haveever had with a car. and it is even more frustrating this is a common problem that has been happening for so many years. i was planning on buying another murano, but now reconsidering and may go back to honda or ...

I have a 2004 nissan murano. i took my car to the shop today because the doors are not locking or unlocking. my hatch only works some of the time as well. i found out that the actuactor is out on all the doors. this is crazy are out on a car that only has 79k miles on it and is 11 years old. the cost will be about 2k to get fixed. this is a safety issue, i have three small kids. having to them stand outside while i climb inside to manually unlock the doors is unssafe. if i leave the car unlocked at night when we are out, that leaves us vulnerable for someone entering the car and hiding in it until we return. once we get in we manually lock the doors but if there is an accident and we needed to quickly exit or emergency responds need to quickly get us out of the car, it is not possible. it is going to cost 2k to get this fixed. i have been reading forums, this is a big issue on the nissan murano, it ...
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan murano. the contact stated that both rear doors and the front passenger side door failed to open from the outside of the vehicle. the contact had to enter the vehicle from the front driver side door to open the other doors. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the door lock actuators failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
I have been unable to unlock my right side doors and trunk for quite some time. took it into the nissan dealership and they advised me that it is due to the door lock actuators. they quoted me a ridiculous amount of $1500 to fix. i looked online and found that i am not the only one with this problem and also signed a petition to have nissan issue a recall. *tr

None of my doors or the trunk unlock or lock with either the remote key or with the button on the inside of the vehicle. 20 mins later they lock after driving for a short while then, when i park they don't lock or unlock with the remote key, again. the remote key battery is not dead so that is not the issue. if that were the case, the door button would unlock and lock it easily. this is a wonderful problem to have as i work in the most crime ridden ghetto in the us and i have a 6 month old i want to get in and out of the car easily, but can't. updated 2/13/15*js

The issue with my nissan murano is the lock actuator beginning to go out. it started in may when the key fob began not working. we started having to unlock the vehicle with the key and then unlock the other doors with the button on the door. this was fine until the lock on the door began to fail. it works occasionally but not all the time. this is my wife's car and we have one child and another on the way, and she will be using this vehicle to transport two kids while i'm at work. it's a safety issue because during inclement weather my wife can't put our baby on the ground to unlock all the doors after the actuator completely fails. not only for that reason is it a safety hazard but just because a fire hasn't occurred yet because of this electrical issue doesn't mean that one will not happen. as a father this is something i have to be concerned with. *tr
