After an abs activation event, during subsequent brake pedal presses, there is no braking effect for the first ~80% of brake pedal travel. all braking occurs in the final 20% of pedal travel distance. this has been observed numerous times over approximately the last 12 months. steps: - vehicle is in motion (speed usually greater than 35mph) - brake is depressed - abs engages successfully (due to some road condition causing vehicle to slide), brake pedal feel is normal - brake pedal is released - brake pedal is pressed again, without abs activation. observed problem: for the first 80% of brake pedal travel distance, there is no braking effect. - pedal feel may return to normal within a few seconds. in some cases, pedal feel has taken up to 30 minutes to return to normal. in several cases, the vehicle was pulled over and re-started in an attempt to get brake pedal feel to return to normal (this usually seemed to work). initially this was diagnosed by a third-party mechanic, who recommended that the vehicle be taken to a nissan-certified service center for repair. it was this mechanic ...
The abs light comes on while driving and car stalls or immediately shuts down. i took the vehicle to nissan and a diagnostic test was done. they said i needed to have my crank shaft positioning sensor changed; i paid and had it replaced and still i am experiencing the same problem. i took the vehicle back to kings nissan at coney island brooklyn 2 weeks ago and it's still there and they can't figure out what's going on. now i am being told they'll have to take the car apart to figure what's the problem and that'll cost me about a thousand dollars for labor, not inclusive of any parts that may need to be replaced. my problem here is that nissan cannot determine the issue and is having me pay for parts while they change parts by assuming what they issue might be, since they are unable to determine the real issue. my biggest regret is purchasing a nissan vehicle. the vehicle is barely 30,000 miles and it's costing me time and money.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 nissan murano. while driving approximately 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but traveled to the floorboard without properly slowing the vehicle. the contact stated that there were no signs of a brake fluid leak; however, the brake fluid reservoir went from full to empty once the brake pedal was depressed. the contact also stated that the vehicle directional control became inoperable. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that the failure recurred once. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 126,000.
Forward collision system keeps malfunctioning. shows a warning 'front radar unavailable due to obstruction,' message. nothing in front of it. turns on and off while driving. happens at all different speeds. has been happening for several weeks and getting worse. was told $1200 to repair from dealer.
My wife was driving the vehicle on a frigid night and she felt that she needed to pump the brake until it hits the floor to stop, next day as she was driving from our garage it just slid off the sloped driveway. i needed to drive her to work in another vehicle. i had the brake pads replaced because the mechanic suggested that the sponginess of the brake might go away if i have a new brake pad. after the replacement it was if nothing was done to the brakes it was stillspongy.
Purchased 2018 nissan morano sl suv on 12/14/2019. driving from dealer on 4 lane highway, approx. 3 mi., dashboard displayed 'unavailable front radar obstruction'. it has randomly displayed this ever since. nissan dealer stated they have been 'desensitizing' the radar as a remedy but denied having any previous knowledge of this defect.
When driving in cruise control, the vehicle will suddenly flash a signal stating "front radar obstruction, unavailable" which disengages the braking system while driving in cruise control, . this almost caused a major accident on the highway because the radar failed to alert and automaticall slow car down. this also causes a hazard when driving on regular streets as all of a sudden the signal flashes inexplicably and unpredictably which causes a distraction while driving.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan murano. while driving, the vehicle failed to stop as the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. the contact was able to coast to the side of the road and then continue driving. once the vehicle was powered off and restarted, it resumed normal operation. the vehicle was taken to frank fletcher nissan (2327 s rangeline rd, joplin, mo 64804, (417) 317-5179) where code number: c1142 was found. the dealer stated that the abs actuator failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 18v916000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 38082076. the failure mileage was approximately 128,157.
Today, nov 26, 2019, a dry, sunny day near boston my brakes on 2010 murano failed and car rear ended the car in front at about 10mph. pedal went all the way to the floor , car slowed slightly but was unable to stop with plenty of space to do so in normal conditions. unable to steer around it due to oncoming traffic on left and hill on right. damage to both cars. police responded and car eventually towed to body shop.. noticed similar complaints but why no recall?
This symptom occurs at all speeds. when brakes are depressed, the pedal goes all the way to the floor. brakes do not function properly causing increased stopping distance. this issue is a hazard for occupants of the vehicle and others on the road around the vehicle. the symptoms the vehicle is exhibiting are identical to 2009 murano's that have brake modules and ecu's recalled. this vehicle has been removed from use pending replacements of the same components recalled on the prior year murano's. the cost of the repairs is in excess of $2000 and should be at the expense of nissan for installing faulty components. this faulty brake system can be fatal if not addressed, all murano's with faulty brake components need to be recalled before it costs the lives of innocent parties. the expense of the repair out of pocket may discourage some owners from taking appropriate measures, increasing the risk. trouble shooting other components to avoid the costly parts required to repair the problem is a burdensome expense for the owners and increases the safety hazards of murano's on the road.
