2006 Nissan Murano

Recently my 2006 nissan murano started making grinding noises when going up hills and turning corners. after taking it to a few shops who said it might be the cvt transmission that was covered under an extended warranty since so many people have had issues, i went and took it to the dealer. their diagnosis was a electronic coupler assembly failure which has to do with my rear differential. the car is not balancing the load properly and the transmission is slipping. there is a 2 month waiting list for this part because it has gone bad in so many nissan vehicles. yet there has been no recall and no extended warranty put on it. the vehicle is said to be relatively unsafe to drive but they are months out on getting parts in for it to be fixed. *js

2003 Nissan Murano

I was driving on the nj turnpike then all of the power when i put my foot on the gas disappeared. almost feels like the car is in neutral. was lucky i wasn't hit from behind my other cars since it went from 60 mph to a 5 mph without any warning. was able to get it to side of the road but then it wouldn't start again. had car towed to my mechanic. now i am reading online about others with the exact same problem without any solutions to a problem that nissan was aware of. guess people have to die before any action is taken. *tr

The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2007 Nissan Murano

My 2007 nissan murano's differential just failed on a highway without any warning. i was with three kids on a high way and it was pitch dark. the only thing i did that day was to change my rear tyres and i have no idea if this might have contributed to it. upon research for a new part, i realized that quite a lot of people have had the same complaints about their murano and i am not sure if they should be forced to recall the vehicle. *tr

The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2004 Nissan Murano

I have a 2004 nissan murano. i did only a little bit of research before i bought it because i really liked the way they looked and drove. shortly after the purchase, i began to read about the poor quality of the cvt transmission. i bought the car with 100,000 kms on it so i was quite worried as i don't think many people can afford a new transmission at several thousands of dollars, especially me. not long after that, nissan came out with an extended warranty on the cvt's because pretty much every murano owner has a problem with it sooner or later. needless to say, im at 160,000 kms on it right now and sure enough, im having big problems now. a huge knocking noise is coming from the transmission that kind of sounds like a helicopter taking off. every once in a while for some time now, when i've been at a stop light, i can literally put the gas pedal down to the floor and there will be no response for about 5 seconds, then the car will jolt forward. my murano is at the nissan dealership right now and they're telling me the problem is ...

The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2004 Nissan Murano

My vehicle does not respond to depression of the gas pedal. it does this spontaneously, which is dangerous when making a left hand turn through an intersection with oncoming traffic. i took my car to a restaurant last night and when we left to come home the vehicle would not travel at speeds over 10mph. we had to turn the vehicle off and back on at all stop signs/lights in order for it to go at all after making a stop. immediately drove the vehicle straight home, after research found out that many people have the exact same problems with their early year nissan muranos. nissan needs to do a major recall and own up to their mistake before someone's life is taken as a result of their faulty mechanics. my car has approximately 155k miles on it. *tr

The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2003 Nissan Murano

I just purchased a nissan murano yesterday and after just 10 minutes or so of driving i noticed that the acceleration is not exactly in sync with my pressure on the pedal. the previous owner also complained of this to the nissan dealer he bought it from. the dealer said it was the air intake and replaced it at no charge. shortly after my initial drive it did not accelerate even when the gas pedal was to the floor. today i entered a busy intersection to make a left hand turn and after the on coming traffic i pressed on the accelerator but no response rpms were study below 1000 like it was still idling. after several futile attempts pressing on the gas pedal i put the car in park then back to drive hit the gas but again no acceleration. at this time i am in the middle of the intersection under the red light. there is another car behind me that is stuck in the intersection as well which makes a hard left to get around and barely avoids an accident. now with cars all around me i become almost frantic and i am a 52 ...

The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2007 Nissan Murano

Unfortunately i did no advanced research on the nissan murano and now we are resting among the group of other upset murano owners. a month ago we purchased a used 2007 murano sl awd with 29,000 miles. after a week of driving it we made a moderately slow stop as we approached a red-lighted intersection. the vehicle surged forward as the brakes were being applied. we could feel the anti-lock brakes begin to pulse at the pedal. the usual quite transmission began to make shifting noises as it argued with an engine that was rising in rpm. with a loud and pronounced clunk and my head was thrust into the headrest restraint pad. the vehicle stopped just before impacting the rear of a car before us. this has happened twice, with repeat visits to the dealer for repairs. they say they find nothing wrong, codes are all fine etc. they even serviced the abs brake sensors at no charge, but i know that is not the problem here. so in a nut shell nissan has done nothing to fix the problem, and is unable to help us. *tr

The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2007 Nissan Murano

I was driving in traffic and i felt a weird vibration and the vehicle felt as if it was surging forward. felt like a misfire so i drove it home and replaced the spark plugs. i then test drove it with new spark plugs and the problem was the same. i take it to my mechanic is he advises that the cvt and or transfer case assembly is the problem. i then go online to research it and find tons of stories of all the same problem. the vehicle is now stuck in my garage because i am scared to drive it and get into an accident. when i turn the wheel the vehicle doesn't want to move forward , almost like a slipping clutch , and then it will make a loud pop and jerk forward. i am having it towed to nissan dealership after holiday and after researching i already know they are not going to cover it and try to stick me with a 5-6k dollar bill. its not the consumer's fault nissan has a defective cvt system and doesn't want to recall it due to the expensive repair bill. i guess once this failure causes someone ...

The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2003 Nissan Murano

I own a 2003 nissan murano. last august it began losing power while driving. it is like the car is being thrown into 1st gear. this has happened 12-18 times over the last 4 months. the crazy thing about these incidents is that no warning lights show up on the dash nor does the car give you any codes indicating that anything went wrong. two months ago i took it to rick hill nissan dealership and told them what was happening. he had the car a week and drove it 66 miles and couldn't get the car to duplicate what was happening to me. unfortunately, they wont work on the car unless is has a code showing up telling them what is wrong. this past week, i almost ran over my family as i was waiting on them to come out of a store. i proceeded to drive up to the store to pick them up when the car surged and the engine started racing. i had to slam on the brakes and throw the car in park to get it to stop. the engine and rpm's were still racing ...
