Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan murano. the contact stated that the tire pressure warning light remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tpms sensor needed to be reset. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 09v393000 (tires). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan murano. while driving approximately 60 mph, the battery charging warning sensor indicator suddenly illuminated and the vehicle later shut off. in addition, while operating the vehicle, the pressure monitoring system sensor indicator illuminated although the air pressure in the tires was as recommended. the cause of the failures was not diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 100,000.

My car incurred a flat tire. car towed to dealer who said the flat was caused by a screw which is worn away and caused the tire sensor to display and the flat occurred. serving dealer said i need to replace all sensors and screws. i checked online and found a recall for this very issue. i found through the dealer that the recall was performed on only one sensor/tire...not all of them. now i have a bill for over $550 to replace all the sensors and screws even though the recall was never fully performed. contacted nissan headquarters and they said the recall was closed out. i explained the recall was never fully completed. they still do not acknowledge this is safety issue. please see attached article: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/09/nissan-may-bust-a-nut-under-pressure-recalls-143-000-over-tire/. *tr

Low tire pressure light will not go off even after having air pressure checked and air added. *tr

Cooper cs4 touring tires leaking air in cold weather. i have a nissan murano, this winter with the very cold temperatures these tires had to have air added every week. i'm talking about 5 to 6 pounds of pressure. had them bead sealed but they continued to leak. posted complaints on murano web sites and was told by other drivers with cooper tires," the problem was the cooper tires." had the oem goodyears till 55k and never had this problem. i am posting this now so other people with these tires will check them more often. *js

Supplemental air bag warning light will not turn off, also passenger air bag status light remains lit even with adult riding in passenger seat. air bag safety should not fail on a car ever. tpms light will not turn off with tires inflated at proper pressure. *tr

I purchased my murano 5 years ago and i've had a few issues but been very happy with purchase other than 2 things! 1 the wheel valves have been a common issue in on my third set of tires but i'm constantly having to air them due to the valve in side the tire! mine isn't listed under recall it there is a recall on other nissan with same issue. the second my stereo locked up cds and the warranty didn't cover this was a week after purchase that was. wet disappointing after paying over 30,000 for it! *tr

This is a serious safety hazard. the nut holding the tpms sensor/tire fill valve failed catastrophically with 2 longitudinal cracks while traveling 70 mph on interstate 5 near valencia, california. tire pressure released suddenly (no previous warning by the tpms system). the car pulled strongly to the left (failure was in the front left tire). regained control of the car and pulled off to shoulder. nut shows evidence of corrosion and dirt in one of the two cracks. tire was undamaged by any road hazard, only the tpms sensor/fill valve was loose in the wheel, and the nut came apart when hand inspecting the valve. a nissan service bulletin exists for corroded nuts in eastern states where salt is used on roads, however this vehicle has strictly been in california, with less than 10 trips to ski areas in california, which does not use salt on its roads. tire and nut are available for inspection. this appears to be a significant safety issue as control of the vehicle is at risk due to the sudden nature of the tire pressure loss and deflation. *tr

2009 nissan murano tpms failure. failure light continuously on. dealer suggests that to fix the problem one needs to over inflate the tires to a minimum of 36 psi. recommended pressure on placard is 32psi. says that it is due to living at high altitude and cold weather. the dealer makes you sign a disclaimer that states "i understand that over inflating tires may keep the tpms light from coming back on, and that tires will wear unevenly and prematurely. i wish to have my tire pressure set at a higher than recommended in hopes of the tpms light not coming on due to cold weather or high altitude". they tell me that this is the only way to resolve the issue. also they state that "caution!! over inflating will cause the tires to wear unevenly and prematurely and is not recommended by the factory due to safety concerns. this is not the recommended solution to the issue, but is one course of action". the other solution is that you must live with it when the tires are inflated to recommended pressure of 32psi. *tr

I am experiencing a serious safety issue with my 2009 nissan murano. i am notifying the nhtsa of this issue because it needs further investigation. i am stunned that nissan has been so careless with my safety, especially in the wake of the toyota debacle. there is an open recall on my vehicle's make and model for its faulty tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). the nissan recall number is 09v393000, which states that the tpms is flawed and prone to corrosion and failure due to a faulty nut used in the manufacturing process. the recall affects vehicles in northern states where the salty roads excessively corrodes the nut used to manufacture the 2009 tpms, at which point "the tire will quickly lose air pressure at a consistent rate resulting in a flat tire increasing the risk of a crash," according to the nissan recall. i was not aware of the recall until my car failed inspection recently. nissan's consumer affairs department has denied service to my vehicle. they claim that my vin number doesn't apply to the recall. after inspecting my car, ira nissan in tewksbury, ma stated in its report that my vehicle is clearly affected by the tpms defect. nissan headquarters states my vehicle was not manufactured with the nut in question - the nut that the company has publicly acknowledged is seriously flawed. my response? then the evidence suggests this issue is much larger in scope than this one nut from this one vendor. nissan is unwilling to acknowledge they have a larger issue on their hands. perhaps there were multiple vendors that provided other flawed nuts in the tpms. or perhaps the nut is not the source of the problem at all. whatever the case, this safety issue needs further investigation. this flaw affects the tires - a critical piece to the safety of any vehicle. the safety of thousands of consumers is at stake. the parallels to the toyota debacle is striking. a very small piece of equipment is putting drivers and passengers at risk... unbeknownst to them. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 nissan murano. immediately after purchasing the vehicle, the contact noticed that it vibrated while driving 40-50 mph. the dealer changed the tires three times, but the failure continues. the failure mileage was 30 and current mileage was 250. updated 03/18/08. *lj the consumer stated all 4 tires had the tire pressure of 41psi in each of tires and were reduced to 36psi and no longer vibrates. updated 03/18/08 *tr
