We have classified the 86 complaints from 2004 Nissan Murano about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Car lost power while driving on high way. no lights were on. gas station said code p0868 showed. i could have been killed. nissan knowing sold me this car in 2014 for over 10,000. pnly four years ago they have problem on this cat cvt but did not inform me. at all. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When taking off from a complete stop or trying to acclerate the revs to 3000 rpm and not gain any speed, you have push and let off the accelerator several times just to maintain any kind of forward momentum the car can muster. i dont know why the car will not gain any speed. this could be a real safety issue on a busy roadway.i have read many other post about similiar issue like mine and it sounds like the cvt are very unreliable and nissan should do the right thing for us car owners, the car only has 91000 miles on it and this issue should not be ocurring in so many vehicles. their should be something done about this issue to help the owners out. nissan knows that there cvt transmission are very faulty and will not hold up....
The vehicle would not accelerate after it had come to a complete stop on highway. after getting out of my vehicle and pushing it to the side, the vehicle finally drove away. but after this the vehicle has had a transmission rattle in which none of my (4) mechanics can seem to fix. failure at 100,110k miles. glad nissan is making money while we suffer.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. without warning, the vehicle surged to 40 mph and almost crashed into the preceding vehicle. the contact had to remove his foot from the accelerator pedal to slow down the vehicle. the failure only occurred when coming to a complete stop. the contact also stated that there was a strong burning odor emitted from the vents. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that a transmission death code came up, which indicated that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 120,650.
My nissan murano sl had 35k miles when purchased. complained 5 times to the dealership about groaning noise and major oil leak. major vibrations occurred while driving and pulled over so i couldn't drive anymore. burning smell of oil that was leaking for months and was not noticed by certified mechanics. also bucking motions. towed murano for repair and later diagnosed as transfer case and tail shaft destroyed. the cvt transmission needed slight repairs too with transfer case. cost ~$3500
Transmission failed without warning at 68k miles. while on highway engine just started free reving. had to coast to side of road. nissan will not assist in repair as car is over 10 years old. dealer worked on transfer case in may; thought they reported all was well.
I'd like to start by saying this is my 3rd or 4th complaint pertaining to the same issue and i have yet to get a response. customers have the option to list their complaints, however, i believe this is a serious matter not to mention safety issue. there's no rhyme or reason this matter should be over looked by no means. once again as i am driving with my kids this is my biggest concern with nissan, traffic is flowing but have stop and go moments, so as i was at a stop moment, then proceeded to go, i pressed on the accelerator as i normally do, pressed all the way down, nothing, i repeat nothing happened my car didn't move at all, instead it loss power, the rpms increased that's about all. mind you i'm on the expressway i-55 with majority of the vehicles are semi-trucks this is very frightening, not knowing when this will occur. me and my kids life are at stake each and every time we're in this vehicle. no one has reached out to me and other family's i'm sure, why? i don't know. this is a safety issue, no indication that loss of power is about to happen, and or will happen. i saved up and spent my hard earned money buying this vehicle because i heard that the nissan name/brand was good, reliable, etc. not sure if i believe that now after the many issues and concerns i have with my nissan murano. how long does it take to make a decision that obviously there need to be a recall on the powertrain due to cvt failure. i'm very disappointed in the decision i made to purchase this vehicle. in addition, to that i disappointed in the lack of concern from the maker of this vehicle. i'm hoping that this matter gets resolved soon before lives are lost. no fatalities should come of this if the issue is addressed now.
2004 murano would not excel at stop signs/red lights or low speeds. tested by nissan dealership, codes show transmission going out. love my clean, looks like new murano even at it's age and 136,000 miles. owned nissan's since late 80's. nissan corp. will not help with repair. so not fair. nissan knows their product was inferior. being forced to purchase a new vehicle. repairs almost as much as vehicle's value. i loved my murano so much i talked them up to friends/family so they purchased nissan's. opposite opinion now!!! goodbye nissan!!!!! you have hurt me financially so i hope to do the same!!!!!
While driving in rush hour traffic mind u a big truck was behind me traffic is stop and go, as i press down on the accelerator there was no movement from my vehicle, like it loss power, i though maybe the gear was changed, but then it dawned on me that this has happened to me not once or twice, but it's beginning to happen more frequently this is not normal. i confirmed that the gear was still in drive, as i pressed down on the accelerator my vehicle jerked as it proceeded to take off (as if it was in turbo boost), i could have hit someone else's car (good thing i didn't). this is a very serious matter many, many lives are at stake. i'm disappointed that this matter have not raised corporate eyes at nissan . the reason for this page is for consumers to report complaints but it seems as if i'm not getting the answering that's needed to fix this serious issue and nor are the other owners who have listed their complaints. this issue should not be addressed after people have lost their lives by having/causing accidents due to loss of power. this is scary for myself and my family. i get nervous when driving on the highway and or the expressway not knowing when this faulty power train issue will happen. good thing that big truck didn't run into the back of me that would have been deadly. no one should have to jeopardize their lives and others. nissan should correct this problem immediately. how and when is it determined on what complaint get addressed. disappointed customer. also, the actuators on my passenger side both front and back does not work they have to be locked manually along with the hatch it doesn't seem to lock either. the actuators should not go out and should be replaced.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving 55 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle lost power and did not accelerate. the rpms increased, but did not affect the power of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the cvt failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 89,000....updated 08/15/16 *bf *js
While in the process of accelerating my vehicle from a stop, i pushed on the accelerator, the vehicle did not move, i thought maybe it was out of gear for the simple fact that it did not respond when pushing down on the accelerator; clearly that was not the case the vehicle was still in drive. however, i pushed on it again an it was big jerk before the vehicle moved forward.... this problem/issue has become very annoying, but most of all dangerous an are people lives at risk and jeopardy of causing an accident. it's very scary driving my vehicle not knowing if the vehicle will or will not accelerate properly as it should. driving on a highway this matter becomes even more dangerous. in addition to that when pressing on the accelerator the vehicle seems to be very loud, each and every time when pressing the accelerator. i do not like putting my family's life at risk when they're riding along with me. this issue must and need to be address asap. i am very disappointed because the fact of the matter nissan and or the nhtsa have not recalled the 2004 nissan murano to correct this serious matter. lord and behold it shouldn't take anyone to lose their life or (lives) before this stalling issue is corrected. people bought this vehicle because nissan is known to make good quality vehicles and have been known to have a good reputation for safety. i'm beginning to second guess the quality of nissan vehicles. my kids are everything to me, so with kind regards can this matter be taken serious. all lives matter.
Bought the car used at about 110k in december 2015, had no issues at all. flash forward to may 2nd 2016. after sitting in start/stop traffic for 20-30 minutes, the traffic finally started to flow, i attempted to accelerate and had a horrible, shaking, jerking from the vehicle. about 2 miles later after arriving to work and trying to turn a corner and applying gas after the corner, it did it again, this time though it caused me to clip a bumper around a concrete barrier, then the car lost all power and the check engine light came on. could not get it to move at all. after having it towed to an authorized nissan dealership, i found out the cvt had went out. i guess i can be glad it went out in a parking garage, because if it went out where the initial hesitation happened, i would have been in a wreck. 7.3k cash money spent on the vehicle, buying outright from a dealer, now with me being asked to spend another 4.5k on a part that nissan had acknowledged to be an issue, because the drive train warranty was extended to 10 year 120k warranty. needless to say with me being a first time nissan buyer and being out this much money and no way to come up with another 4.5k, this was also my last nissan. put less than 2k on it when i purchased it. even worse is when the nissan dealership (part of the same company who sold me the car from their used lot) is talking me out of repairing the car, because the trade in value would only be the same price as the part.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle shook violently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 154,000.
I was trying to accelerate from a stop, when the car refused to respond to the press of the gas pedal. finally, it slowly accelerated up to 10 mph, then the transmission shifted and the car took off rapidly. fortunately, i was able to control it. problem is repeatable.
I'm having problems with my cvt transmission, when i press on the gas pedal it hesitate to go i went to a mechanic and they say it was the cvt. i researched the problem and see owners having the same problem, i'm just wondering why this isn't a recall. this vehicle always get maintenance. *tr
I purchased my murano from a used car dealer 9 months ago. until recently the car was working great, however recently, the car stopped accelerating.. after shutting the car off for a few moments and restarting the acceleration issue appears to be solved. the following day the issue continued after i stopped at a light. after depressing the accelerator for a few seconds, the car feels like it is going to stall. after shutting the car off and turing it back on it takes of like it is in a drag race but seems to temporarily solve the issue until you come to a stop, this has become a constant routine when driving the vehicle. when the car comes to a full stop (as in traffic) it feels like it wants to stall. you can keep it going by keeping one foot on the gas and one on the brake then when the accelerator is pressed, the car takes off like in a drag race. i was informed by a nissan dealer that the cause of the stalling is the power train; the cost of which to replace will be upwards of $4000. after doing my own research i found out that the issues i am experiencing is common to muranos manufactured between 2003-2009 and that nissan has steadfastly refused to recall the vehicles and fix these faulty cvts. this is quite perplexing as many thousands of people across the country have reported similar issues. i cannot afford this costly repair and i am still making payments on the car. because this is such a common problem and a great safety issue, nissan needs to be forced to recall these cars and replace the part that is causing the problem!
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to respond. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000. the vin was not available.
2004 nissan murano with transfer case leaking like many other 2003-2007 murano's . nissan needs to recall all of these cars and replace the parts.
I purchased my murano brand new in 2004. until recently the car worked well enough, however whiles driving on the highway recently, the car stopped accelerating. fortunately i was able to pull to the median safely without incident. after shutting the car off for a few moments and restarting the acceleration issue appeared to be solved. the following day the car completely stalled after i stopped at a light. after depressing the accelerator for a few seconds, the car took off as if it is in a drag race. very, very dangerous. shutting the car off and then putting it back on seems to temporarily solve the issue, however this has become a constant routine when driving the vehicle. when the car comes to a full stop (as in traffic) it stalls. when the accelerator is pressed, the car takes off. took the car to the nissan dealership where i was informed that the cause of the stalling is the power train; the cost of which to replace will be upwards of $4000. after doing my own research i found out that the issues i am experiencing is common to muranos manufactured between 2003-2009 and that nissan has steadfastly refused to recall the vehicles and fix these faulty cvts. this is quite perplexing as many thousands of people across the country have reported similar issues. is nissan waiting for someone to die before they replaced the defective cvts in their older vehicles? please force them to address this issue before it's too late.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving down an incline approximately 20 mph, the transmission failed to respond until after the gear lever was shifted into park and then into the drive position. the vehicle resumed normally. the failure recurred three times. on a separate occasion, the transmission slipped out of gear for a few moments. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.
Got this car from my brother and began driving it at 104,800 miles on vehicle. within a few days, waiting to turn left into a parking lot, depressing accelerator and nothing happened. this has succeedingly happened a dozen times, more often in heavy traffic from a stopped position. my mechanic has replaced the throttle body and checked all codes. still, it is continuing. in reading complaints, both at this .gov site and other websites, this is a common and consistent fault with the cvt transmission for 03 & 04 nissans. neither nissan nor www.nhtsa.dot.gov has responded. does someone have to die before there is a reaction? it implies not only this, but also that nissan understands it will do better financially dealing with the very few instances of lawsuits. the car qualifies for the lemon law, if there is such a law still in effect. it is worthless unless i spend around $5000. to replace a transmission that is faulty to begin with.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle slowed down without having to depress the brake pedal. the failure recurred six times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle bottle needed to be replaced. the vehicle was later taken to a dealer where it was confirmed that the throttle bottle needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the vehicle was then taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power train failed and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 149,000.
Just got this murano. the other day went to go take off from a light. and the murano wouldn't go anywhere. finally limped to side of the road, turned the car off, turned car on, was fine for a day or two. after driving to grocery store, left parking lot. stopped at light. went to take off and wouldn't even rev up, i had a baby and a small child in my car, car behind me had to go up on sidewalk in order to avoid hitting me. this is now have has become a safety issue when it happens i have to floor it for about 15 seconds before it engages the throttle. have read that it can be everything from a bad ground, cvt failure, transfer case failure, or the ipdm or ecm is fried. mechanic can't narrow it down to what the problem is. nissan want to charge me over $100 just to diagnose if they can. and from what i've read they won't even do much better than suggest changing out the transmission for a cost of $6,000. why am i changing transmission on a car that has less than a hundred thousand miles? i am really disappointed, my family has owned datsun/nissans forever. my dad still has his 76 280 z. my mom still has her 79 280 z 2+2. my mom also has her 95 nissan hardbody, which has been through hell and never once has had a problem. i have been a fan of nissans forever because of the reliability and ease in which you can fix them. i am severely disappointed with nissan for not covering the problems or recalling all the problems with the murano. my family myself and my friends have now officially decided to boycott nissan, they have now lost life-long customers. on a side note. electronic throttles or fly by wire, is the dumbest thing in the world. if you have a burnt out bulb no throttle, chance of accident greater than 90%. faulty stereo, no throttle chance of accident greater than 90%. am i the only one whom sees a bad pattern here? *tr
I purchased vehicle 2/9/2015 since than i have taken to get 2 total vehicle inspections. both inspections i have been given two different estimated problems. when at a complete stop and trying to take off vehicle will not go, after about 15 to 20 seconds it will take off at a rapid speed which scares me to the point where i am glad it doesn't happen on expressway i know me and my 8 yr old would be injured. i have been told it could be the transmission and/or the trans case both i have looked up and omg more complaints than any vehicle i have ever owned. second issue is, when turning a corner left or right it hesitates like it doesn't want to go, i have been told its the trans case. if nissan knows there are issues with the cvt why haven't they done a recall, especially before someone dies with the delayed hesitation. i just spent $6,000 on the vehicle because i was told go foreign you won't be unhappy, and here i am being told i need to spent another $6,000 to repair an issue that's has so many complaints. *tr
Vehicle stopped while driving. car was still running but would not move. took it to the nissan dealership and they said it was the transmission and the main problem with the murano is the universal serious problem with the cvt transmission and transfer plate which costs $4600 to replace. the technician said nissan will not fix the problem, i have to buy/replace the transmission. *tr
Mechanic says the differential has to be replaced. cannot afford a long list of repairs already spent on this car, and now this, impossible to afford and will never buy a nissan product ever again. i just read the long list of issues with the cvt transmissions on the 2003-8 murano that all of us are being saddled with. how does nissan expect any customer brand loyalty? *js
My cvt housing transfer case is cracked. i am having a problem accelerating my car. my car had to be towed to my home yesterday because of this issue. this is a huge safety issue. *tr
The transmission stopped working on the high way almost causing a collision with another vehicle. *tr
While on a stop light the vehicle took a very long time to accelerate at least after 10 seconds. this car is owned by my wife, thank god she wasn't on the highway with my kids. i took it do my mechanic and he said this is an ongoing issue with these cvt transmissions on these muranos' mostly between 2003-2005. this should be a must recall as this can be a very drastic safety issue and flaw design on these transmissions. in order to repair this problem my family is looking between $2400 to $3000 on repairs. i am not worry about the cost of the repair, most likely i will have to buy a new car but this is a safety concern as there are a lot of murano owners experiencing the same issue, and i hope that we don't have any fatalities due to this issue because it can occur on any murano between 2003-2005 as low as 75,000 miles. *tr
Rattling noise occurred couple months ago then heard winding noise during slow speeds. yesterday, there was loud clanking noise at 25mph and the car stopped. *tr
I was driving on my way to a near highway with my two children, and i heard a small knocking noise. i slowed down to a near parking lot, because i thought it was an engine cover that was loose, but the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. when i had it towed, after mothers day weekend, i was told that the problem was the transfer case. nissan offers a warranty for the cvt transmission (due to known failures with it) that covers 10 years 120,000 miles, but does not include the transfer case (which is another known problem with the 03 04 murano models). it cost $3,178 to fix the problem at the nissan dealership (which i had done). when looking for this part there is a vast increase in price between the 03 04 model in comparison to any other model, because there is such a higher demand for this particular part (which indicates that this is a frequent problem with these models). i was told at the dealership that the seals from the transmission were leaking, hence why it broke. the problem is, that i was at that same dealership not too long before due to an alternator problem, and they gave me a list of problems with the vehicle which included: the belt, the belt tensioner, alternator, wheel bearing, and rear brakes, but never mentioned leaking seals on the transfer case. there are way too many factors indicating that there was a manufacturing/engineering problem with the transfer case on these two models that was fixed on later models. i do not feel safe driving vehicle. i asked nissan to repurchase the vehicle or give me some sort of solution to this problem, because i do not feel safe driving it after the last experience with it, and they declined. had this failure occurred at the highway it could have been fatal. on top of that the nissan dealership returned my vehicle, after a $3,178 fix, with a cracked windshield and will not respond for it. unbelievable. *tr
Transmission would periodically stop working. was replaced by nissan under extended warranty. eleven months later and 17,000 miles transmission stopped working again due to cross contamination from radiator. my complaint is why didn't someone tell me about the radiator problem at the time on installing the new transmission. i would have paid for a new one myself. it is impossible for me too prevent that from happening since the leak is internal. from what the mechanics are telling me. that should not be possible to happen. my car blue book value went from $8500 high end to $1000. my car now has 123,634 miles on it now. *tr
Wife and i traveling from north georgia mountains on a state hwy, approx 55 mph. the engine suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and felt as if the car violently downshifted (automatic transmission). there was no forewarning, no 'warning lights' illuminated before, during, or after the event. fortunately for us, i was able to get the car off the road. the car did not lose electrical power, nor did the engine shut off. the shifter did not accidentally get moved, as the car was still in drive. after we sat on side of the road for several minutes regaining our wits, i depressed the accelerator, to move back onto the highway. the engine would not respond to the gas pedal. it just idled. again, i pumped the gas pedal and there was no change to engine idle. i turned the ignition switch off, and back on, and the problem cleared. this is the "third such occurrence" in two weeks time. we took the car to a local nissan dealership in lilburn, georgia (hwy 78) and explained the problem in detail. the service advisor did not comment if they had ever heard of a similar issue with this vehicle. on the 8th of april, we went back to the dealership to find out what the prognosis was for this vehicle. nissan did not have an explanation. their computer readout did not indicate a problem related to our complaint. in otherwords, they had no idea, after charging us $125.00 for a computer diagnostic. we're back to taking it to a local mechanic to see if they can discover the problem. *tr
The vehicle feels like it won't shift. when first starting out the rpm's race to 3 or 4 and the car revs like it won't shift gears. now, while driving 70 the rpm's are at 5 or 6 and feels/sounds like it wont shift. *tr
Transmission fails in traffic. cannot accelerate. this is a safety hazard where lives are being put at risk. *tr
Just l 2 weeks ago my transmission was replaced and a week later my transfer case unit needed to be replaced. after doing research i found out that this was a common issue with the nissan murano with year ranging from 2003-2009. *tr
Car stalled in the middle of highway and would move and stall all of a sudden. car mechanic indicated the code is p0776 indicating defective cvt transmission. nissan has not recalled this transmission and i am out of warranty. this is a defect and should be recalled as there are numerous complaints due to the same incident on these transmissions. *tr
My 2004 nissan murano lost power while driving down the road and almost caused an accident. the transmission made a grinding sound when pushing down the accelerator and lost most of its ability to accelerate at all and then started lurching forward rocking the whole vehicle back and fourth. i took it to a nissan dealership and explained the problem ,i even left it over night so they could test it in hot and cold conditions. the dealer called me the next day and told me it wasn't the transmission but two drive belts, front right bearing and strut cap that needed to be replaced. i refused the work at the nissan dealer and took it to a (ase mechanic) friend who ordered all factory nissan parts and installed them. needless to say after reading all the other problems other 04 nissan murano owners are having, i am still having the same problem. the car makes a loud grinding sound looses power and is rocking back forward causing the whole vehicle to leap forward if you let off the brakes. the dealer told me that without a check engine code they could do nothing for me. i have read several complaints about the same issue and worry about my safety as well as for others around the vehicle. i live next to two elementary schools and have to drive on the highway daily. why isn't nissan being held accountable for their issues that should be recalls?.i have every service record for the vehicle with all scheduled maintenance logged with receipts. it seems like the dealerships have all come up with different ways of not addressing the issue. if this were to happen to me on the highway at speeds of 60mph it could cause a major accident, god forbid even life threatening. the cost to replace the transmission and transfer case will exceed the value of the car thus totaling the vehicle. please help!!! i don't want to be held responsible for defects that could be avoided! *tr
I bought the 2004 murano in december of 2013. from day one problems with shaking while driving. it has been in the shop 12 times since then. it had transmission failure twice now. first time they found metal debris in there. the second time was just over the warranty from first time by a few hundred miles! right after that the right back brake caliper was binding so that was replaced. so far they have put on new tires, a few weeks after that they balanced them thinking that was the problem. had to replace axle shaft carrier bearing, i should have gotten rid of it after the first transmission failure!!! *tr
Well i was driving regular to heavy traffic transmission just locked on me car started shaking had to pull to the side after other driver's stop to try to help the car turns on but when you get to 40 it starts jerking and wont shift i took it to mechanic shops they put it on the computer and nothing comes up he ran it for a while and it ran ok. again a day later im on my way to work and it did it again this time i almost got hit from behind at this point im scared to drive this car. some one please help me i have 3 small children that commute with me and im scared that we will get into an accident. is anyone aware of any factory defects on these muranos? *tr
My 2004 nissan murano conked out while making a turn on a busy chicago intersection. the cvt was the culprit. nissan knows there is design flaw with this transmission and extended the warranty to 10 years/100k which ever comes first. unfortunately my car exceeded the mileage. after 2 tows and more than a week at the dealer, i received a bill for over 4k. nissan knew of this problem from the get go. there should be a recall due to the safety issue. there is no way of being prepared for this type of incident. consumers should be protected. *ln *tr
When driving my nissan murano especially on hot days/in stop & go traffic, the vehicle fails to respond to the depression of the accelerator. when it happens (4x/week), the vehicle will be at a complete stop & not begin to accelerate after depressing the accelerator until around 3k rpms. the problem is resolved by cycling the vehicle off then on, given that the driving conditions don't remain in the form which appeared to initiate the incident. in a few instance the vehicle was left running, with the a/c on while i made a quick run into a convienence store. after backing out of the parking space without a problem, the vehicle exhibited it's slight hesitation while in drive, but then lurched forward at ~3k rpms, and acquired the desired speed and manuevers. after waiting at the light just outside of the parking lot, the vehicle would not respond to the depression of the accelerator in the form of movement. that is, the engine would rev to as much as 5k rpms, but not move more the .5-1mph. the usual cycling of the engine off & then on, would not resolve the problem. the next destination was nearby (1mi.) & downhill, so i was able to coast, in neutral, to that location whilst being honked at & nearly rear-ended by oncoming traffic. after the vehicle had sat at that location for ~3hrs, there were no other problems of the like. vehicle also looses acceleration while on highway. *tr
My wife was driving and, suddenly the car slow down by itself in the residence area. she managed to move the car out of the road. *tr
While traveling vehicle began to make very loud noise and began to stall. had to be towed to mechanic at which time it was determined the transfer case was cracked. as i researched this, i discovered numerous murano owners with this issue. vehicle only has 69,000 miles and the cost to repair $4000.00! *tr
When vehicle is driven a bit the transmission has no power on startup at light. you have to pump the accelerator several times before regaining power. after this is happened the transmission looses power at all different speeds. this is truly unsafe and i am afraid to drive it on a freeway. *tr
Transmission has defective seal between it and transfer case causing gear oil to leak out and failure to components. can cause loss of control and stalling while in traffic with potential to have an accident or crash. *tr
There was a structural failure of the anchor/bracket underneath the driver's seat. while i am driving, the seat rocks from side to side, and dips up and down. when i turn, the seat rocks a couple of inches down and then pops back as i come out of the turn. also vehicle loses acceleration power when coming out of a complete stop. *tr
I having been driving about 50 mph and try to accelerate to 65 and the engine is struggling to get up to speed. i also parked in a parking stall and could not get it into park it was stuck between drive and neutral. i had to try several times to get it into park. i finally was able to get it into park. i would like to know if there is a recall on this transmission for a 2004 murano. all the reviews show that there have been problems with the transmission for this year i now have to pay over $3000 for a new transmission. is this going to be problems with my new transmission? *tr
Went to dealership to check power loss and noise from cvt transmission. dealer gave me an estimate of $4225 to replace transfer case. they said that warranty was for the transmission and not the transfer case. after researching on the internet, several thousand cases of leaking or failing transfer cases have been found for this vehicle and nissan has ignored all instances to avoid a recall. plus, they are charging $4225 for a part that makes up the transmission using a technicality to avoid replacing the defective part. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 132,000.
