We have classified the 1 complaints from 2000 Nissan Maxima about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
I drive a 2000 nissan maxima that currently has 48000 miles on it. i developed an engine ping at 45000 miles and took it to the dealer for sevice. they replaced all 6 coil packs and air something or other at a cost of $1300.00. i have driven it 5000 more miles and i once again have an engine ping. i took it back to the dealer a second time to which they told me i was a quart low on oil and that would cause a ping. they did an oil & filter change. i was pleased as i drove away and heard no engine ping, however about 30 miles later it came back. their theory of being 1 quart low on oil is not correct. i decided to research this problem on the net, and see that this is a very common problem with nissan's. this is not a cheap fix and i think nissan should have to recall this as it should not be a consumer fix.
Ignition coil failure on well maintained 2000 maxima created dangerous driving situation, car would "stall" pressing accelerator accomplished nothing as if vehicle were "starving" for fuel; advised to have all 6 coils replaced (mechanic believes these had already been replaced once before - car was purchased used w/ 25,000 miles) current repair nearly $1000, also additional cost to replace oxygen sensor and fuel regulator; based on number of similar complaints, this should be of concern to nissan and should warrant a recall or at the least, some assistance with cost; wondering if "class action" type lawsuit advisable to gain nissan's attention. *nm
Hi, i am a happy owner of a 2000 nissan maxima gle. the vehicle has 53,000 miles on it and recently has a problem. the "service engine soon" light on the dashboard just came on recently. *ak i researched this issue on the internet and found out quite a few other nissan maxima owners are having this problem ... this is what i discoverd ... the ignition coils are failing. the parts themselves were free under a "goodwill parts" policy nissan has. according to the work order, 3 parts numbered 22448-31u01 "coil assy-ignit" and 3 parts numbered 22448-31u06 were replaced. many maxima owners have heard the response from nissan dealers that this is a known problem with the vehicle ignition coils. they also received the response that nissan agreed to a no charge replacement under good will. see car forums at http://www.carsforums.com/showthread.php?t=7803 question & request: ------------------- can nissan please provide the details of how i go about getting this problem resolved under "goodwill" and have the ignition coils replaced to resolve the "service engine soon" light. this should be covered under nissan's factory standard 60k power train warranty. thank you, satnam bains
