My frontier died on 12/6 / on 12/7/2015, i had it towed to the boardwalk nissan and paid $100 to have the problem diagnosed. i was told the repairs would cost $10,500. the radiator caused the transmission to go out in turn causing the computer panel to burn out. i asked the service adviser was there something i could've done to prevent the problem. he said no, the problem happens. i then had the truck towed home. now, i find out there was a problem that nissan should've known about, had they made the repairs to the radiator, my truck would be working today. this makes me angry. it makes me angry that i just paid $317.44 to replace tire sensors that may not have been needed!! the radiator issue resulted in a $417.44 expense that may not have been necessary ($100 for a diagnosis). the truck was parked in front of my house. i attempted to start the car on 12/6/15, it wouldn't start. thinking it was a battery issue, i waited until the next morning; only to find out it wasn't the battery. i called boardwalk nissan and had the truck towed to the dealership for diagnostics & repairs only to find out it would cost me $10,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle shook violently. the contact coasted to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle after thirty minutes. the contact also stated that the radiator cracked. the failure recurred numerous times. the contact was advised by the dealer that the vehicle needed a new transmission and radiator. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 82,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that when the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be serviced, the technician stated that the radiator, transmission, and transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000. the vin was unavailable.

Like so many other nissan frontier owners, the radiator coolant got mixed with the transmission fluid. this is factory defect known by nissan. had to replace radiator and transmission since the car was not responding well and was not able to run properly. called nissan three times to ask for some financial support and they denied it. *tr

Was driving 2007 nissan frontier when 4wd light came on and check engine light came on. slowed down and came to a stop. when i tried to accelerate, there was no response. apparently, transmission is ruined due to a known defect with the radiator where coolant leaks into the transmission. nissan never issued a recall for the radiator assembly, just extended the warranty to 100,000 miles, leaving the consumer responsible to fixed catastrophic transmission failure. cost $6500. *tr

When driving along the truck lost power then when the truck was turned back on the motor made a loud noise. now the repairman tells me the truck needs a new motor. it has not given me any trouble before. it is not a work truck it's a pleasure truck. i'm retired. with that low mileage you would think the motor would be better than that. i hope you can help me. thank you *tr

Making a noise when traveling at 35-40 mph accelerating. nissan dealership states it is the radiator leaking coolant into the transmission which is causing the transmission to fail. warranty expired on 12/2014. nissan dealership states a co-pay of $2500.00 is what will be charged to fix. *tr

A defective radiator installed by manufacturer, rotted, causing a mix of transmission fluid and coolant permanently damaging the transmission. *tr

Started experiencing radiator overheating and erratic transmission shifting. mechanic found radiator and transmission fluids mixed. radiator and transmission need to be replaced +/-$4000 estimate. normal driving history and vehicle in good condition otherwise. http://www.nissanproblems.com/trends/coolant-leaks-destroy-transmission/ http://www.nissanassist.com/web/radiator/faqs.php?menu=22 http://classaction.kccllc.net/caseinfo.aspx?pas=nissanatoilcoolersettlement. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. during a routine oil change, the technician informed that the transmission and radiator needed to be flushed and replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 109,500.

Purchased the vehicle on 8/16/2014 and i was driving the vehicle to work and transmission wouldn't shift out of gear along with the check engine light came on. i scanned the vehicle and pulled a code for the transmission output sensor. took the vehicle to the dealership where they said they found coolant in my transmission and i was outside of the previous extended warranty and they've never seen this before. they told me i needed a whole new transmission and radiator. and nissan wouldn't cover any of the damages due to it being out of the last extended warranty that was added to the vehicle. now they want to charge me $6,756 to repair my vehicle i've owed for less than a week. *tr

Transmission fluid leak into radiator. *tr

Radiator and transmission cross contaminated due to a cracked atf line. *tr

The transmission cooling unit in the radiator leaked. my coolant system became a brown sludge due to having transmission fluid leak into it. my transmission fluid had coolant leak into it and transmission is damaged. *tr

Transmission abruptly stopped transferring power. owner checked transmission fluid after incident in which it was filled with radiator coolant and radiator had a mix of coolant and transmission fluid. *tr

Coolant backed up into transmission and destroyed the transmission and radiator. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan frontier which has only a 122,431 miles on it and something went wrong with the transmission. when i was going up the hill it was like it just stalled out on me. i've been doing research on it and it seems like alot of other people is having the same problem and it seems like nissan is just trying to hide the problem. if its something that their at fault with they should be the one who fixes it. i depend on my truck everyday to get me to work and if its the coolant and transmission fluid is mixing its a very expensive fix which i can't afford and the other people shouldn't be reliable for so i wish u would consider this and do and investigation on it and try and get this problem fixed before it messes anybody else's up and puts them out alot of money. there's just to many people on the internet with the same problem and if u all don't do something about it nissan is just going to keep doing the same thing til someone does something about it. thank you for your time *tr

I recently purchased a 2007 nissan frontier and have only had it since feb 2014 and all of a sudden there is a strong vibration at 40 mph in the rear end. so i had the tires balanced then re balanced thinking it was the tires. even went as far as replacing the rear tires. after that did not correct the issue i then took it to a nissan dealership and they determined that it was a failure in the radiator that leaked coolant into the transmission. they told me that my radiator and transmission need to be replaced. if i have it done before my truck reaches 100k it will only cost me 3000 to get it fixed and nissan will pick up some of the cost. but if i go over 100k i will be responsible for the full repair cost. my current mileage is 98910. i had purchased an extended warranty through the place i had purchased the truck and because they don't cover the radiator i am now liable for the repairs. so now i am at a loss, just started paying on the vehicle and now i have to spend 3000 at min to get it fixed. i should not be putting this kind of money into this truck after owning it for less than 6 months. *tr

The automatic transmission started shifting "hard" and the heater stopped working. i took it to a local shop and they told me that the radiator fluid had contaminated the transmission fluid, and visa versa. i needed to have a transmission shop look at it. they told me the same thing as the previous shop, but also that i would be needing a new transmission and radiator system, at the cost of $4848.00. this was due to a failed transmission fluid cooler located in the radiator assembly that allowed coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid, resulting in damaged internal transmission components and a damaged internal transmission computer. after researching, this has occurred to hundreds of nissan vehicles, including 2005-2010 nissan pathfinder, frontier and xterra vehicles. nissan has been aware of this problem since 2007 and has undertaken no preventive measures to protect consumers from failure. *tr

No power to wheels...transmission coolant and engine coolant mix together due to malfunction in radiator causing catastrophic transmission failure. cost to replace radiator and transmission is $5200...research on this matter indicates that nissan corp. knew of the problem and that a class action law suit coving this defect has been approved, but, the deadline to apply has passed...my truck just broke and it is now too late to register for the approved class action law suit. how can i get reimbursed like so many others have??? *tr

The transmission had been shuttering and slipping for a couple of months. it was getting worse so i took it to kings transmission on 3-13-14 to have it looked at. they discovered water in the fluid and informed me that this model of vehicle had a wide spread problem with the radiator failing and leaking coolant into the transmission cooling lines. the truck is now at a nissan dealer getting a new transmission and radiator.

An internal crack on the oil cooler tube caused internal leakage of engine coolant into the transmission causing transmission failure. *tr

I was driving my truck when it began to slip at round 45 mph. the shifting then became very hard. i looked on-line and saw websites discussing transmission/radiator problems. i opened my radiator and saw it was very milky in color. took it in to the dealership and told that i needed a new radiator and transmission because of a known problem. *tr

I purchased this truck from a used car auto dealer with 137,477 miles on it. their warranty was up before i was aware i had a serious problem that got progressively worse. while driving locally and on the highway at speeds between 35 and 65 mph the truck started to shake and vibrate intermittently which caused an erratic control of the truck. after approaching several auto repair shops about the issue no one seamed to have a solution except one. they told me that a class action suit was issued against nissan about a defective transmission and radiator combination cooler cross contaminate problem that destroys the transmission lubricate and electrical shifting functions of the transmission. it cost me $3,728.95 to fix the problem and i would like to get my money back from nissan if possible. all post about the class action suit puts me outside on the initial settlement. thank you *tr

diagnosed as a failed transmission cooler which allows coolant to mix with the transmission fluid, causing internal damage to the components. there was no warning prior to this catastrophic event - it just all of a sudden happened. the entire transmission and radiator had to be replaced at a cost of $7,000 - nissan did not cover $3,000 of this as they said it was a "deductible" - how can you have a deductible on a design flaw? *tr

Radiator crack caused transmission failure we have 81,000 miles on the truck so they want us to have to pay 2500+ dollars for a 6 year old truck for which we had a 100,000 mile warranty/72 month warranty and on which we paid hundreds of dollars for every major mileage inspection and service. nothing was done to tell us or warn us of this. people will also lose resale value because no one will want to buy the vehicles. we should be compensated for the repairs and the loss of resale potential. *tr

Truck begin shuttering and shifting hard. took it to nissan and they said the coolant had mixed with the transmission fluid and i will need new transmission and radiator. cost about 5500.00. nissan service told me the first time everything was okay. only after i took it in the second time after i had 100,000 miles then they told me about the leak. nissan refused to pay for any of this. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that transmission fluid was erroneously entering the radiator. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the radiator and transmission both needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 75,569. ..updated 09/30/13 *bf the consumer stated there was an engine whine (noise) at all speeds. there maybe a failure with the timing chain. there was a rear axle leak which may be caused by a bad vent check valve. the power socket counsel was not working. updated 10/29/2013 *js

I took my vehicle in to have the transmission fluid changed and was told that the transmission had anti-freeze contamination and could result in sudden catastrophic failure of the transmission, and that nissan was aware of this but would take no action to repair or recall the vehicle. if this is a know manufacture defect and is resulting in catastrophic failure with potential crash, and injury potential, why aren't the vehicles being recalled and repaired? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated while traveling 55 mph the transmission started to slip. the vehicle started slowing down and making a grinding noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the coolant from the radiator leaked into the transmission and caused the failure. the failure and current mileage was 104,000. *tr

Transmission failed due to radiator leakage into transmission fluid. just out of warranty! nissan claims powertrain warranty will not cover since it is a radiator problem which causes the failure. ----- leaking coolant causes transmission failure an alarming number of nissan xterra, pathfinder and frontier owners are stepping forward with stories about how cracked radiators are causing coolant to leak into the transmission. once mixed with the transmission fluid this lethal combination kills the valves, seals and torque converter -- rendering your entire transmission useless. this issue is currently contained to the 2005'2010 model years. some articles online claim that being aware of the proper warning signs may help prevent your nissan from needing a rebuilt transmission. these warning signs are: heavy vibration while shifting heavy vibration while accelerating abrupt stalling shuddering noises car doesn't warm up when sitting owners who have had their radiator crack are claiming that even if you catch it early, your transmission is still doomed trouble due to this engineering / manufacturing defect. you can read their stories over at carcomplaints.com for the three nissan models that are showing the defect: pathfinder: 2007, 2006, 2005 xterra: 2005, 2006, 2007 frontier: 2005. 2006, 2007 perhaps even more troubling is owners who have already had their transmissions "repaired" by an authorized nissan dealer are still reporting catastrophic transmission failure. through no fault of their own, nissan owners who are out of warranty are left to cover the hefty repair bill, which can be over $4,500 when all is said and done. *tr

As i was parked at a service station, i put my truck into reverse and it was the same as neutral and never engaged. this is a very common, but not necessary, issue with the transmission on the nissan frontier. i almost blew up my engine last year when the radiator cracked and allowed transmission fluid to mix with the coolant and caused the temperature gauge to go way up. this mixture made its way to the transmission and has caused irreparable damage; undoubtedly, this is why i no longer have reverse. i replaced the radiator and flushed my transmission fluid three times last year and thought i may have fixed the problem. evidentially, the damage had already been done. this problem is very well known to nissan and, as a nissan frontier owner, i was never notified regarding this possible issue. i understand that nissan has agreed to settle with owners within a certain mileage range; however, my truck is only 5.5 years old and exceeds the mileage requirement because my occupation requires alot of highway time which has put alot of miles on it. i feel nissan needs to step up and take care of this problem with all owners of these vehicles before someone gets hurt or killed if it hasn't happened already. my truck is now rendered useless until i pay thousands of dollars to fix it. this should not be my problem at all!! *tr

2007 nissan frontier complaint . i am writing this on may 9, 2013. about a week ago my 2007 nissan frontier experienced slow acceleration. i put it in 1st and drove slowly for 1/4 mile then turned off the engine. when i turned on back on ignition, gear shift was locked. i unlocked manually and tried to start. nothing. engine will not crank. no lights on dash. i towed it my local mechanic who tried some electrical work. nothing so he thought a tranny failure put truck in failsafe. aamco could not start it so they could not diagnose. towed it to nissan of edison nj. they wanted to change tranny for $8000 new or $5000 used. too much money for a vehicle w/ 110000 miles. i towed it out to another transmission place and they first thought it was the starter! they changed the starter, nothing doing. of course jump start is not working so its not the battery. im now stuck. previously truck had stalled once on the highway at about 60000 miles and would only drive on gear #1. took it to nissan dealership. they said they couldn't find any problem with tranny but they replaced the transmission fluid. later at about 101k the transmission started slipping and nissan found that the antifreeze had leaked into the transmission. they wanted to give me $2500 toward a $7300 repair. they also offered to give me employee pricing on a new frontier but i dont want another frontier, so i refused and instead took it to my mechanic. he put in a new radiator and flushed the transmission. earlier at about 46000 miles, the fuel gauge stopped working and the fuel sender was changed. nissan refused to help at that time but later initiated a recall and compensated me for the expense. its been all pain with this truck which i bought "new" from a dealer with only 300 miles on it. help. *tr

i parked my truck and later tried to start it and it wouldn't. had it towed to one repair shop ($45.00 plus $75.00 to the repair shop) and they referred me to a transmission mechanic. so i had it towed there ($45.00) and he said that radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission. i've had the truck about 2 weeks before this happened. the estimate on repairs is $3,500. watch and see what god makes happen! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the radiator was cracked and allowed coolant to enter the transmission. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the transmission and radiator would possibly require replacement but first, a diagnostic was required. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 101,000. *tr

The car was brought in for fluid changes since the car was nearly at the 100,000 mile mark. they explained the radiator had failed and caused the transmission to be contaminated. this car was brought in several times over the years and they never disclosed that this known problem can ruin a transmission. i paid 3000.00 to have the car fixed because i was in the 80-100,000 k mile range. this class action settlement is a bad deal for nissan consumers. we should have been notified that that this could happen. i would have gladly paid 600.00 to have the radiator replaced. its a good thing this happened while at the dealership. i understand that many people have been stranded. nissan knows this and fails to tell its customers. this is unsafe, and i think it should be a full recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the vehicle made a wining noise while driving. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who inspected the vehicle and located the failure at the timing chain. the timing chain assembly was replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure and current mileage was 39,900. updated 3/5/13 *cn

As i am driving, the transmission will not shift at 40 mph. i pull over and find out that it will not go into reverse, either. i drive over to the nissan dealership and find out that the part of the radiator that connects to the tranny has cracked and dumped all of the radiator fluid into the tranny, killing it. i need a new radiator and transmission. nissan is covering the costs (for repairs but not alternate transportation for the week that it is taking to fix this) but upon returning home and looking online, i found out that nissan has known about this problem for about 5 years and instead of doing a recall (costing lots of money), they extended the warranty on the radiator assembly from 3 years/36,000 miles to 8 years/96,000 miles hoping that problems will occur after that time and then they are off the hook for repairs. how dangerous could this have been under different circumstances. i am angry and disgusted with the way nissan has handled a problem they know could have caused a serious safety risk. *tr

Nissan frontier; truck pick up an vibration that turn into alot of jerking.t alk to the dealer about it,they said to check trans fluid to see if it had a strawberry color to it. if so the radiators was probably cracked and that coolant seep into the trans causing server trans failure. have no warrenty.computer in trans is damage. now valve body got to be replace with computer board along with all new clutches and radiator going to cost around 5 grand to fix. *tr

This issue is my radiator and transmission contamination. first noticed heat didn't work. mechanic checked radiator, found leak. began installing new radiator and saw that coolant was already contaminating tranny. truck dead at dealership. called nissan and they created a case. denied. escalated case. denied. started new escalation today. i have lost my job because i cant get there!!! what's next my home???? paid outright for this truck brand new. drove all the way to maryland to get it. less than 5 yrs old!!! but because my mileage was over the 80,000 they wont help. this product already had the flawed components when i drove it off the lot brand new so wtf should mileage have to do with it??? all the faulty sensors were annoying enough but this type of potential for failure should demand total recall....instead they issue warranty extensions and mileage limitations. i was never notified as a registered nissan owner when this issue was supposedly sent out last fall. and even if i had been my mileage was already over. that should not have mattered as this issue is such a safety and monetary concern. luckily it didn't fail while i was driving home at 8pm doing 70mph or when i had my kids in it. all in one week i lost vehicle because of flawed product, my job because my flawed vehicle died and my reputation as a reliable and responsible employee. heartbroken. i want my money back!!!!!!!!!!! never will i buy another nissan. greedy & irresponsible company with no sense of commitment to their consumers. *tr

The check engine light came on while starting the truck. it was place on the diagnostic machine and the result was that a sensor in the gas tank was not working. i received a recall notice one week after the warranty had expired. the notice stated that the warranty would take care of the problem. i emailed nissan to complain and never heard from them. *tr

Known issues with faulty radiators is causing it to fail and mix antifreeze into the transmission causing the transmission to fail.. the result is a ~$9200 bill from your dealership for a new transmission and radiator.. nissan absolutely refused to take ownership of this issue making me the owner of my 4th nissan truck to pay.. *tr

On july 2011 had to pay for new transmission for my truck after the radiator leaked in to the transmission, talked with nissan and tried to get them to stand behind it and they said they would have if the truck was, in side the new warranty they had put out but i was at 91611. they know what is wrong and how to fix this. they have to put the transmission cooler on the out side of the radiator about $ 200.00 fix.this replace cost, me more than $ 6000.00 to get fixed. now at 97980 miles we are back at the shop having the same thing, done over again, this time they are covering after i had to have a out side tech come in and prove that this was happening again. the first said it had to be replaced and then they had another one check it and said i was hearing the tires and the transmission was good. i would not pick up my truck because the 12 month warranty was about to run out on july 26 2012 . after the out side tec checked it out and said the transmission had coolant mixed with it they ordered every thing new again...should not have had to pay for the first one.. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that coolant was leaking into the transmission. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 72,410.

I took my truck into the dealership for a diagnostic test. i was told that i need a new timing chain. nissan has been aware that the timing chain systems installed in the subject nissan vehicles are prone to premature failure, and nissan continued to install defective timing chain systems in the subject nissan vehicles knowing that they were prone to premature failure. nissan not only refused to disclose the problem, but also actively concealed knowledge of it. nissan undertook affirmative efforts to conceal the failures through, among other things, technical service bulletins issued to repair facilities. although nissan was aware enough of the problem to issue multiple technical service bulletins to repair facilities, informing them of the need for timing chain systems to be replaced, nissan selectively chose not to inform consumers of this fact. nissan concealed this so that the warranty period on the subject nissan vehicles would expire before owners become aware of the problem. through this practice, nissan unlawfully transfers the cost of replacement from itself to the owners of the subject nissan. the fact that the timing chain systems were prone to sudden premature failure is material to consumers because it presents a serious safety issue and places the driver and passengers at a risk of harm. *tr
