We have classified the 198 complaints from 2007 Nissan Frontier about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
At 132,000 miles my transmission and radiator failed at the same time. i have come to understand that this is a known defect in nissans. i did not know this was an ongoing problem with nissans. the cost to repair is going to be more than $5000. this is terrible.
We are a auto dealer in ohio. after purchasing a 2007 nissan frontier crew cab 4x4 at the auction, we did a post sale inspection and it passed. we brought it home and did a 60 point inspection, outside of an airbag light issue, it passed once again. one week later, the transmission is shot. after a transmission shop called me today and said $3000 to replace transmission, i found out this is a common problem that nissan will not be accountable for. i am looking for any and all assistance. this quote sums it up well, 'simply extending the warranty coverage for the radiator without warning consumers of the consequences to the transmission only makes sense if nissan is looking to cut their losses. why didn't nissan warn consumers that the transmission could fail quickly as a result of a cracked cooler tube? how many consumers must suffer transmission failures in busy intersections and on busy, congested highways before nissan does the ethical thing and issues a safety recall?'.
While on vacation transmission failure due to coolant mixing with transmission faulty radiator taken to mt holly nissan asap while driving it was a safety hazzard
Got in my 2007 frontier to go to work on monday morning ,got about three blocks and pulled out onto the main street and my truck went from third gear back into 1st gear i was only doing the speed limit of 60km an hour, then limped it home to find out my rad was cracked ,i do take very good care of my truck and for this to go all of a sudden. i think nissan should cover the cost .i only have 110 kms on it !!!
We had just had our oil changed in our nissan frontier and had a general check of the vehicle before driving it on a vacation to another state. everything was in perfect working order. we purchased this vehicle new and it has always been well-maintained. it has 118,000 miles. while driving home less than a week after we left, we noticed that the transmission began slipping and coolant was suddenly leaking from the truck. we also noticed a pink or orange fluid mixed with the coolant. we were >3 hours away from home when this happened. the transmission slippage got worse as we were driving. we were luckily able to make it home and took our vehicle in for service. we found out that this truck has the same problem as other nissans--coolant mixed with the transmission fluid, causing the transmission to suddenly fail. now the vehicle is not driveable and were are suddenly left with a very big cost to replace the transmission. this sudden failure of the transmission without any warning is extremely unsafe. we could have been stranded far from home or worse, the transmission ...
Lost power to transmission while driving down road with grandson in car seat. saw the ses (service engine soon) light and coasted off to side of highway. very scary!

Nissan frontier transmission reverse went out in heavy traffic.
Cross-contamination between amy freeze in transmission fluid. transmission mechanic quoted at $4000 to replace fix problem
Radiator leaked fluid into the transmission case causing transmission failure at 146000 miles. check engine light came on wile on the highway took it to the dealer and was told the transmission and radiator needs replacement for 5000 dollars.
The radiator is defective and let's the anti-frezee mix with the transmission fluid.
Transmission failure due to radiator coolant leaking into transmission. driving condition resulted in sudden hard downshifts and eventually led to a no start condition. upon inspecting, the at control fuse was blown and when replaced the vehicle cranked, only to have the fuse blow again. the transmission, likely need to be replaced to remedy the issue. this issue is known and unfortunately, little has been done to hold the manufacturer accountable.
Engine light came on, had checked by nissan dealership, said antifreeze in transmission caused by bad lines in radiator, common problem with nissan, said nissan had an extended warranty on this problem, but ran out, would cost 6,000 to fix this problem
Car stutters when i accelerate whil going uphill between 40 and 60 miles an hour. dealership mechanic reported that the transmission fluid had been contaminated by the radiator failing. there are 102,000 miles on the vehicle. the dealership is charging $6,100 to repair a truck that is worth less than that. the dealership says that as i am 2,000 miles past the warranty, they will not discount the price of repair, even though this is a well documented issue. neither the dealer i bought the truck from or the dealer performing maintenance for the last three years has ever mentioned or checked for the issue.
Takata recall transmission stop pulling i have water in my transmission no warning at all i was at a red light and it just stop going??
