Passenger airbag warning light illuminated. in motion from a parking lot. fuel gauge suddenly fell to empty on 07/10/2019 lights on dash illuminated showing need for upcoming service and tire pressure low.
My air bag light has been on and took it into the dealership. was told the front impact sensor was the issue, which was covered under a nissan campaign for known issues. truck was initially purchased in ny and driven on salted roads, which was the cause for sensor failure, however i lived in fl at the time the recall was issued. the campaign was 08v690000.

My friend and i were traveling on the i-40e in new mexico. he was driving my truck and feel asleep at the wheel. he woke up and oversteered and caused us to crash my truck into the right side highway ditch at about 70 miles per hour. we hit first with the front right of my truck and then tumbled 3 times smashing all sides of the truck especially the front. we had our seat belts on so we weren't ejected, but air bags never deployed. my dog was in the backseat of the 4 door truck and was ejected and died shortly after. i sustained several injuries to my face, head, arms, shoulders, and back. *tr
Weather turned from rain to icy. south bound on street that overpass interstate. truck spun around several times first in south bound lane hitting guard rail on west side, went over the curb and median into north bound lane spin again before coming to rest against 4ft high concrete divider on bridge. the driver side air bag is the only one that deployed. my wife was in passenger seat. no other air bags deployed. this truck had dual stage supplemental front air bags and nissan aabs.. thankfully our seat belts were probably what protected us from being thrown from the truck. as i stated only the air bag in steering wheel deployed. this should be looked into with all the recalls going on. i had not received any notice about this problem. i went to emergency room the following tuesday to get xray of chest because of pain. my wife went to her dr also. *tr
Passenger seat belt light flashes on, dealer says connected to computer under passenger seat (reset several times), light still flashes, dealership service says problem with seat sensor and not sure if air bag on passenger side will work or defective (want $800 to $3,000 to diagnose-fix-replace), nissan corporate refuses to fix (says out of warranty), technician unable to say if air bag will deploy in an accident, service manager i deal with told me she had seen at least 10 similar problems with similar vehicles (x 8 service writers means at that dealership alone they have had at least 80 complaints in a month of the same nature x all dealerships??), nissan corporate sent me a $250 gift card for other services at the dealership but refuses to acknowledge or address or attempt to fix a problem they admit they know they have (and i am only referring to nissan frontiers - not all other nissan vehicles). may be a problem with the air bag or a problem with the computer or a problem with the seat sensor or an electrical issue.

The red air bag warning light came on and has remained on. additionally, the round yellow light on the lower part of the dash shows passenger seat air bag not on both when occupied and unoccupied. i have attempted to have national parts shop chains attempt to determine the reason, but they all say they cannot do so. the dealer's cost for any readouts is always cost prohibitive. *tr

I was driving my truck (nissan frontier) last night when all of a sudden the airbag light came on while driving. this light will not go off. then when i took the truck to the dealership today i was told that i would have to pay for the cost to repair the airbag component and they wanted over 400 dollars to fix the issue. they stated that they did not have the part and it is okay to drive the truck the way it is. i do not feel safe any longer in this truck. *tr
My husband was driving his 2006 nissan frontier and was about to merge onto the highway when the car in front of him threw on his brakes. he was only driving at less than 10 mph and tapped the car in front of him. the driver's front airbag deployed smacking him in the face. no one could ever explain why it would deploy with such a light impact. fyi passenger side front air bag did not deploy! *tr
Hit by a sheriff car and was flipped 3 times in a nissan frontier nismo....supposedly with front and side air bags along with roll over air bags. not one deployed. had to get cut out of car and flown into trauma room. in and out of conscience and not feeling legs. now severe back and neck pain. sore abdomens and lower disc disease. nothing done to correct problem. *tr
My girlfriend and i were driving down a washboard farm type road and randomly our side curtain airbags went off on both sides causing severe soft tissue damage in our necks and anxiety / being terrified of the truck. currently looking into personal injury and filed with insurance company. the area we were in was an area with no cell service and quite far from the nearest town and with the airbags breaking the seatblets etc it was a very unsafe drive. *tr
Was driving down a washboard part of a dirt road in route to 4wheel like i normally do and the 2006 frontier nismo curtain airbags deployed for no reason other then the system believed it was rolling over. this was out in the middle of nowhere away from cell coverage so no police report could be made. i have noticed many threads of xterras and frontiers online that have been getting this problem including a youtube video of an xterras deploying. nothing has been done yet the vehicle is sitting in front of my house as i decide weather there is a buildable case against nissan or to give up and try for repairs somewhere, the insurance estimate is ~4,000$ usd. both side curtain airbags, seat damage, seatbelts broken. *tr
My son was turning around our 2006 frontier nismo off road 4wd on a rutted dirt road at a speed of no more than 15 mph when the rollover airbags, on both sides, deployed without warning. nissan of american investigated. below is a portion of nissan's letter to me. i will forward via us mail a complete copy of this letter to nhtsa: "air bags must be made so that they inflate fast enough in a severe accident. the speed at which an air bag inflates and then deflates is similar in all designs. air bags are designed to inflate in less than 1/20 of a second. air bags are predictive. the signal which is sent to the sensor in some underbody impacts is very similar to the signal sent to the sensor in rollover situation. both diagnostic and visual checks confirmed that there was no evidence of a problem with the air bag or seat belt systems in your vehicle." as a result of nissan's design, a side air bag sensor, 2 rollover air bag assemblies, 2 seat belt assemblies, a headliner and plastic trim items were replaced. the old parts, exclusive of the headliner, are available. on the rear quarter panel, the vehicle is labeled "off road" and is clearly intended for that use according to nissan''s advertising. nissan's own statement proves that their control system for rollover airbags is defective in that their rollover air bags may deploy because the "signal which is sent to the sensor in some underbody impacts is very similar to the signal sent to the sensor in rollover situation"'. consumers rely on nissan to design a rollover air bag system that deploys in the event of a rollover, not a defective design which causes an underbody impact to initiate an unnecessary rollover airbag deployment. rollover air bags that operate in a manner unpredictable by the consumer are not safe. nissan should redesign this system on future vehicles and recall current vehicles to make the needed changes, before people are injured by airbags that needlessly deploy. *nm updated. *jb
