On average, the 2014 Nissan Altima starts to “feel” problems with the SUSPENSION and its various aspects after 96 522 miles.

Recently reported SUSPENSION problems on 2014 Nissan Altima

While driving on a state route i hit a bump in the road and immediately felt the steering wheel shift from even to the left about 45 degrees with a thumping sound . also the stability light came on. i tried to steer the car properly but encountered a pulling to the left. i pulled off the road into a lot and discovered the rear left wheel and side (driver side} was lower than the right and the wheel was tilted inward. further inspection revealed that the connection to the suspension was compromised. we had the car towed on flatbed to my local mechanic. he is located near the local nissan dealership so we hope to get it resolved with his selp. my research on your site indicated that several (1000's) of 2013 vehicles experienced this problem but not many 2014 models. i believe the problem is not just for the 2013 models and the 2014's age is about at the same time when the 2013's have failed. (6 years old). i am hoping that nissan follows suit with the 2014 models like canada did last year.

I went to turn into a parking lot, heard a loud thump from the back of the car and when i looked under the rear end my sway bar was broken off on the drivers side. 2 months prior to this happening my right side broke while i was backing up.

On tuesday night january 14, 2020 i do as i always do this night and drive my son to his hockey practice for 6 pm in north smithfield rhode island. we were on the highway route 295 in travel lane passing an 18 wheeler truck. when we were next to this truck it felt like a gust of wind came out of no where and pushed my 2014 nissan altima in his lane and almost hit this truck. i went to correct the wheel to move away from this and the car almost went right off the highway in a ditch. i had no idea what was going on and was able to keep the car straightened out. my son, who is 11 was scared to death. i noticed that that a light on dashboard came on that looks like a traction control light or slippery road light. where this happened, the practice we go to was next exit and right off the highway. we decided to head there since there was no safe spot to pull over in this location at night. i put the hazard light on and managed to get their slowly somehow so i could look into what this problem was. we got to practice. my son went in and i looked around at what this light was that came on dashboard. i could not find it in manual anywhere and was thinking that it may have been a computer issue. from there i checked the outside of the car and under the best i could and did not notice anything at this time so i left it alone. when it was time to leave my plan was just to take it slow and drive home. we made it about 200 feet out of parking lot and heard a nasty noise and pulled right over on route 146 in north smithfield r.i. i looked under car where i heard the noise and could see something broken. i took an picture - called my mechanic right away to find out what it was..it was a control arm and were extremely lucky we were not involved in a serious accident or hurt in anyway, found out the other control arm was ready to break https://photos.app.goo.gl/iegg5svv4csqnnvr6 i

As i was driving my 2014 altima, i accelerated from a complete stop and lost control of my car and began sliding. as soon as i stopped the vehicle, i restarted and began to move forward. while only going 15 mph, the car began to shake, i stopped the vehicle and notice the rear driver side tire was not aligned correctly. after being towed and upon further review, it was determined that my lower rear control arm had snapped off from the bolt on the driver side. after looking into this, the rear passenger control arm was determined to have a severe crack on both the top and bottom sides.

Right rear lower control arm snapped/fractured causing vehicle to veer off road . component replaced 6/2019.... currently inspecting left rear lower control i found it has fractured as well. it is fractured in an area where there is no apparent degradation from rust .... the metal is all intact and brittle.

Steering wheel vibration it's getting worse every day plus when i turn the wheel to the left it does make a grinding sound

While driving on a residential street at roughly 30mph, my vehicle suddenly pulled dramatically to the right, pretty much against my control of the steering wheel. i thought the car had been knocked out of alignment though i hadn't hit a bump. i proceeded home, approximately at 10-15 mph. i made an appt to my local garage and limped there. when my car was hoisted onto the lift i was told to come into the service areaso that i could be shown what happened. they showed the right control arm and said that it split in 2 and that i was extremely lucky that i wasn't involved ina serious road mishap. after viewing the part i firmly believe that nissan has a various safety issue with the control arms on at least 2014 altimas, which i purchased brand new. i do a lot of highway driving and based upon how the vehicle swerved so drastically to the right, i am certain this vehicle would have flipped over with any sort of speed. at 30 mph, i was lucky to avoid contact with pedestrians or objects. i contacted nissan to file a complaint. the rep was more interested in informing me that my vehicle was out of warranty and not taken to an authorized dealer. i was told that there no other complaints filed about this part breaking apart. i have kept what remains of the part. this is a very serious safety matter. i am certainly available to provide any additional information.

I was driving in the passing lane at 65mph in heavy traffic at rush hour on the interstate. the right front control arm failed and i was able to maintain control and pull off the right shoulder of highway. the car was towed to the nissan dealer. the right front control arm was rusted apart and the left arm was intact but was also heavily rusted

The driver side coil spring, which is part of the front suspension, broke. this part uses almost 3/8 inch steel, and when it breaks under compression, can cause serious damage, and potential vehicle stability issues on the highway. the vehicle involved is only 4 years old with 44000 miles, which is not much mileage on this vehicle. this part should not have failed and is considered a defect in my opinion. we were fortunate that our vehicle was local, and not on the highway when this happened. there was no tire damage when the spring snapped. we had a mechanic replace the spring within the week.

Headlamps are very dim while driving at night. control arms are loose, i'm guessing the result of the 2 flaps on each side.underneath the car keeps coming loose even after replacing plastic screws. no accidents have occurred.

Takata recall- my 18 year old daughter was in a severe car wreck with side impact and rollover x 3. she had an injury to the left side of her face where the side impact airbags nor the curtain airbags came out . i have been working with nissan consumers affairs since aug 9, 2015 with a [xxx] but so far the issue is still in process . my daughter had a ct scan because of the swelling of her left face and the physician asked did the airbags come out to protect the side of her face and i said no and he stated to file a complaint with nissan and to get a lawyer . i bought the car brand new from action nissan in nashville tn . she was ran off the road and hit a side pole and flipped over 2 or more times according to a witness . picture will be attached . all 4 kids survived . thank you jesus!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr..updated 12/22/15....updated 12/30/15 *bf; 4/27/18*jb the dealer stated steering wheel will turn but wheels wont move. *tr

I bought the car last year and it has only been about 13 months. about three months ago, i noticed that there was a kind of jerk when i would start off a stop light and accelerate. first thinking it was not a great deal, i kept going however i noticed it that it was becoming more constant. one day about to reverse out of a parking lot, i put the car in reverse, and the car turned off. there was no response at all from the transmission. i then turned the ignition off and restarted it and it started working fine. being late for work, i then continued on and until yesterday everything was okay. yesterday, i got into my car, started it, switched to drive, and the engine shut off and there was no response from the transmission. i turned the ignition off, turned it on again, moved the shifter into reverse and the engine shut off again. i have since had it towed and it is being checked at the dealership. this being a one year old car, i do not expect it to give these issues.

I have only had my car for about 15 months and i bought it brand new. so about a month ago i noticed that there was a jerk when i would push on the gas when coming from a complete stop. one time my car even slightly slid and the tire light came on. i took my car to the dealership once that happened but they said that the only issue they saw was that my wheels were unbalanced. i still experience this issue from time to time and i would like to know why. i bought a brand new car for a reason and that was to not have to deal with car issues for a while.

Vehicle is driven several miles so the engine is warm. three times the car has stalled when stopping at a light or slowing at an intersection to make a left turn or right turn. when moving from the waiting position the car will stall and as an oncoming car is coming poses a left threatning situation as it will not move forward immediately. car has been taken to nissan dealership 2 times and both times nothing shows on the computer. also, the car was driven the last time and the stall is not replicated. because the problem is not replicated nisaan refuses to admit there is a problem with the car although a life is in jepordy due to the danger of making a left had turn in front of traffice when there is ample time to make the turn. i have spoken to the national office and they refuse to do anything since the computer says the car is not broken. *js

Windshield cracked again. windshield seems to be under stress which causes it to crack and propagate. this is the second windshield on the vehicle. *tr

Purchased 2014 altima s 9-1-14. right away hear whining noise from steering area and under hood. as of april 2015 only have 1200 miles but have not taken to dealer. other problems have been, splashing noise from fuel tank, wind noise coming from passnger side window, very difficult to keep vehicle from wandering on highway from side to side. thought it was just me but reading similar reviews i now know there is a problem with the nissan altima. *tr
