We have classified the 216 complaints from 2013 Nissan Altima about EXTERIOR LIGHTING into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving various speeds, the headlights were very low and the contact had to acticate the high beam headlights in order to see the road. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the failure recurred multiple times. the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I bought my altima at the end of 2013 i really liked it when i purchased it but as time has gone on my low beam headlights have gotten dimmer the high beam works but you can't drive with them on because you blind other drivers i went to the dealership today for an oil change and asked them to check my lights and told them the problem so they checked it out and came back and told me they could fix the problem for 1150.00 dollars i just laughed and said no thanks this is a safety issue this should really be a recall by nissan
My headlights keep getting dimmer and dimmer. i have changed the bulbs 3 times now and nothing is working. i can barely see a foot in front of my front bumper. this is a major safety issue and completely dangerous. i have to drive with my high beams on for me to see yet i know i am blinding other drivers which results in more dangerous driving conditions! please make nissan recall the headlights for replacement. this is seriously dangerous!!!
Dim lights too dim even after replacing bulb
Front headlights are dim and you are unable to see the road ahead. while driving at night the headlights do not look like they are on. if raining you are unable to see anything within 1-2 feet in front of the vehicle making it impossible to drive the vehicle at night on the highway or on the city streets. nissan said it was the bulbs so they replaced them and there is no change in being able to see while driving at night. the vehicle only has 40,500 miles when it went in for the diagnostic test.
2013 nissan altima. consumer writes in regards to the safety of low beam headlights. *ld the conusmer stated the low beams are extremely dim. *js *js
My head lights are very dim. i cannot drive at night and i have to use the high beams if i do. i have had the bulbs switched out and i have also had headlight restoration done on the headlights. nothing has fixed the issue. this is very dangerous. nissan needs to take responsibility and address this issue. this is a major safety concern and it needs attention. nissan told me it would cost over $1600 to get new head lights.
Low beams headlights are extremely dim. you can't see at night and during the rain it's even worse. have to drive with high beams. this is a safety meeting issue and nissan needs to fix it.
The low beams are at the point where it almost looks like they are not on. i have replaced the bulbs, didn't help at all. i adjusted the 2 different adjustment pieces, one is under the hood and the other is behind the inner fender. that didn't correct it.i called nissan and they are not aware of this issue . i did see on a nissan form listed as www.nissanproblems.com/altima-projector-headlights/ ,that a lot of people are having this issue with what is called the 5th generation altima. which is considered a 2013-2015. i believe this issue should be considered a safety hazard. this problem occurs when it is dark out and the headlights are on to see, whether or not your moving or standing still.
The drivers side headlights are diminishing in their ability project light forward of the car making the car unsafe to drive at night even with brand new wiring bulbs. the manufacturer and dealers are aware of this defect and charging owners 700 hundred dollars and more to remedy this defect. a recall notice is needed to make these cars safe again to drive in night or low light situations. thank you.
The dim lights on this car are so dim that i can't see good enough to drive at night. i have to turn on the bright lights to see. the difference between the dim lights and the bright lights are like night and day. it's almost impossible to see the difference between the parking lot and a grassy ditch. this is very dangerous to me and my passengers and anyone in front of the car that are not lit-up.
Headlights have become very dim to the point that the vehicle is unsafe to drive at night without keeping the headlights on bright all the time. this is not an issue with the bulbs (dealer verified that even installing high-intensity bulbs did not fix the issue), but with the halogen projector lens. the only remedy is to replace the entire headlamp assembly at a dealer cost of $1,000 for the pair. a quick google search shows that this is a widespread issue for the 2013-2015 model altimas, and due to the danger posed by this defect i believe a recall is necessitated.
I bought my 2013 nissan altima 3 & a half years ago when the car only had 16k miles on it. it now has 72k miles on it. over the past several months my husband and i both have noticed a significant diminished brightness in the low beam head lights. so much so that i personally will not drive my car at night. i will be contacting nissan to see if / how they will rectify this issue.
The clear coat is peeling off on the hood and top of the car. the low beam headlights are very dim can barley see at night this has been getting progressivly worse over the last year has 98000 miles on it
The low beam headlights provide very little illumination which makes the car unusable at night. i did report to my dealer who suggested i purchase a new set on the internet and they would install them. i did that and thosre worked well for less than a year. the 2013 needs to be recalled tol replace the headlights with a newlly designed version.
I am writing a complaint about the visibility with use of the low beam headlights on the 2013 nissan altima. on a highway with no streetlights visibility is only approximately 3 feet with a sharp cut off. it is very hard to see road hazards until it is too late to stop. when on coming cars pass visibility of the line on the either side of the road is very minimal. on secondary roads with no line visibility of either side of the road when there is an on coming car is practically not there forcing me to slow my speed drastically to keep from either running off the road or hitting the on coming car. i have made serval attempts at new headlight bulbs to try and ease the problem and only received marginal results with very expensive led bulbs. this problem has caused a few deer related accidents with my current nissan and would have easily been avoided had i had safe visibility.
Extremely dim headlights even with brand new expensive bulbs. extremely dangerous at night.
Headlights dim can't see at nighttime. lights not shining bright enough to see the road.
Headlights are dim which causes low nighttime visibility. the lens covers are clean and clear but still not enough light to see clearly at night. this is a safety hazard.
Headlights are extremely dim making it very scary and dangerous to drive at night. i have looked into this problem online and have read that numerous other altima 2013 owners are having same issue.
Headlights are very dim on low beam actually they're useless!! had to get out of the car to see if they were even on. high beams are okay but i can't drive with high beams on bc of oncoming traffic.
The low beam headlights are so dim it's hard to see the road at night.
Front low beam headlights are dimming gradually as the car ages. looking inside of the reflector assembly in the projection headlight unit, the reflector is discolored and burnt up instead of bright and reflective. it is extremely difficult to see at night and i fear driving at night due to possible hazards to myself or others.
The lights have dimmed to the point i cannot see on the road anymore. the car is only 6 years old. i have replaced the bulbs with multiple brands and types of bulbs with the same result every time.
Dim headlights. dealer tested electrical connections bulbs, and voltage. dealer states wear and tear on a vehicle with 48k miles.dealer will not replace headlight assembly at no charge.
Headlights too dim to see when operating vehicle; took to dealership and was told i must replace the whole projector system at a cost of $1600.00. for headlights!
The headlights on dim basically looks like they are off. when traveling at night when dim is needed due to on coming traffic you can not see with them only on dim. we have replaced the bulbs but that doesnt help. seems that it's something to do with the mirrors that reflect the lights. this happens anytime the lights are on but of course being a headlight issue we notice it more at night while driving anywhere. i can attach a picture but a video shows this is better.
Very dim low beams. you almost can't tell that they are on at night, forcing you to use your high beams when it may not be safe to do so.
47,000 miles headlights barely visible on low beam
This is a safety issue , the reflector bowl on for the low beam headlight deteriorates and does not reflect light . you can not see the road, this is very dangerous and nissan is aware of the problem and has not issued a recall.
Having trouble with my low beam headlights not able to see at night when driving. reached out to nissan but they said it was nothing they could do to help with this issue and was given a quote to have them fixed. i feel that this is a safety issue and found out this is a issue with other vehicle. so why haven't a recall been issued for this matter? driving at night is very difficult.
Low beam issue cannot see at night time when driving. reach out to nissan but no help with this issue. gave me a quote to have them fix and in so many words that it was not there problem. i've learned that this low beam is an issue with other vehicles of same make, model, and years. i feel this is a safety issue and should have a recall for this. driving at night is unsafe with these headlights.
After purchasing this vehicle brand new, first owner in september 2013, 4 months later the left fog light went out did not think anything of it. two months later the right head light went out. thought it was weird but did not stress myself about it. a year later the right rear light only works when you tap it. now i am driving all the lights are out from the car. no brake lights no park lights no lights. took my vehicle to tire kingdom to change bulbs only to find out the new bulbs are not working either and the vehicle has a n electrical problem. never did understand why drivers behind me would honk their horns at me or be flashing me with their high beam lights. nissan needs to fix this issue as well as their air conditioning problem. the vehicle only gets cool when the vehicle is in motion. you cannot have the a/c on when being stationary the a/c only produces heat during that time.
The dimmer lights on headlight, both, passenger and driver side is extremely dark, making it difficult to drive at night. bright lights are ok, it's my headlights in dimmer mode making it very difficult and dangerous to drive at night
Lights have been going dim. dangerously cannot tell if low beams are on or off. its not a bulb issue. the beight high beams are fine and you have to use them to drive at night
Lowbeam lights are not safe to drive at night !must use high beams to see more than 20 feet ahead
My headlight on my nissian altima on den is to light at night i cannot see the road i have to put them on bright to see. that is very dangerous when meeting another vehicle and u can't hardly see the road. it cost also 800.00 to get new light. everyone i talk to with same model car are having same problem. come home after dark i was meeting another car light on den, also hit another car on the road.
Low beam lights are really dim. i can't see any more than maybe 15 to 20 feet in front if me with the lights on dim. it is extremely dangerous when driving at night. when you add in rain it is horrendous. this is very dangerous to every nissan owner who is having to deal with this issue. driving on any roadway is dangerous especially in areas where there are no streetlights. i live in the city and it is still extremely difficult to see when driving at night. this issue makes a 15 minute drive feel like hours. i have gotten to the point that i hate driving at night.
1. i have a complaint which i have noticed for awhile involving my headlights. they seem to be getting dimmer each time i drive it at night. i've cleaned the headlight covers but it hasn't helped. the light only hits about 100 ft ahead of me and at a low angle not keeping it bright enough for cars or pedestrians to even know that i'm in the area. i've had to drive with high beams on in darker spots just so i can see where i'm supposed to go.
Since my wife bought this car new, the low beam headlights have been dim and continue to diminish in usefulness to the point where driving with the high beams on is the better alternative. we have tried hid lighting kits but the wiring circuit can not handle the amps and the fuses will blow. nissan needs to handle this as a recall and repair the headlights in the interest of public safety. thank you.
The headlights are progressively getting more dim over time. lights are dim all the time, not related to idle or other functions. mileage is 72.000 miles. night driving is hazardous. the headlights are lighting only a few feet in front of the car, not illuminating traffic signs, difficulty when making turns at a corner or driveway. i have to use my high beams at night, the high beams work fine but are a hazard for oncoming traffic. i reported this to nissan dealer over a year ago and they adjusted the aim of the light upward but this did not help much. this is now a safety hazard that needs immediate attention.
My low beam headlights have no outward projection. it's not a headlight bulb issue. we bought new bulbs-did not help. i can only see 10 ft clearly. i have to use my high beams. i'm told i need to purchase new headlight assembly. this is a manufacturing issue not mine. this is a safety issue.
2013 nissan altima sv. over the past several months i have noticed the low beam headlights getting dimmer and dimmer. thinking i just needed to replace the bulbs, i started researching what bulbs to get to replace them. it was then i discovered the true issue: the reflective coating in the headlight projector housing is being burnt off by the heat of the bulb resulting in progressively dimmer headlights over time. the high beams are fine as they are separate bulbs and do not seem to suffer this same issue. i commute 44 miles one way to work in the dark 5 days a week on 2 lane country roads. the progressively dimming headlights are a safety hazard. soon i will not be able to safely drive this vehicle at night without using the hi beams which is a hazard to other drivers.
The headlights are increasingly diminishing in regards to the distance in which it projects as the car ages though from day one the headlights were poor in which moon or fog lights were installed to supplement this issue. the faster you travel the poorer the quality of the lighting. i've changed headlights at the dealership and this has not resolved the issue, i've even adjusted the headlight projection to no resolve. there is no known solution to this matter as apparently nissan refuses to take any action and driving at night is a double edge sword, the driver drives blinded as the poor projection or the driver uses high beams and blinds other drivers which further increases danger of the general public.
My lights are very dim and it is very hard to see in unlit areas. it doesn't appear the light are on but they are. if you want to see you have to put on high beams but have to take off on on coming traffic. there needs to be a recall for this issue and they are to fix the lighting
While driving the car at night the headlights seemed extremely dim i could barely see items on the side of the road and was definitely out driving the distance the low beams were casting down the road. the had gotten progressively worse over time but driving it everyday you get used to it until i drove my wife's car and noticed the major difference. after having it diagnosed simply replacing the headlight bulbs wouldn't fix it and the entire headlight assemblies had to be replaced which would cost nearly $1,000. the bulbs basically melted the inside face of the projector lens and wouldn't let light thru. after complaining to nissan usa they said they would cover 70% of the cost. i don't believe an owner should be expected to replace an entire headlight assembly after 5 years and that they've made a product that is unsafe and set to fail.
Low beam on headlights are very dim. cannot see in front of vehicle. daughter was pulled over by police, no ticket, but told was a safety hazard
The low beam headlight coverage only extends about 2 feet in front of my car. this became noticeable about 2 weeks ago and it has gradually gotten worse. at times, it looks as if i don't even have my lights on. i have to drive with my high beams on the majority of the time and this poses a safety risk for all drivers in front of me. i have no choice but to drive like this. i was about to get my bulbs replaced and decided to do some research and that's when i came across the many, many individuals with the same problem and now i see that this is a known issue. unfortunately it seems as though nothing is being done or the question is, how many complaints have to be filed before a recall is issued bc it is obviously some sort of flaw in the manufacturing of these vehicles. please help because i can't afford to pay $1000 to replace a whole assembly when all one should have to do is clean off the buildup on the outside of a headlight and/or replace a bulb.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving at night with the low beam headlights illuminated, the light output was extremely dim. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. gainesville nissan (3801 n. main st, gainesville, fl) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000. the vin was unknown.
Headlights are too dim. visibility appears to be limited to maybe 50 feet. i have difficulty seeing see road markings (such as dividing lines) and median curbs when crossing intersections -- especially in rainy conditions. i noticed this because i have rented comparable vehicles while on travel and did not have this issue. i recently blew the driver's side front tire because i could not see the median curb while crossing an intersection.
