Catalytic converter has gone bad on low mileage, single owner, well maintained car. this is a widespread problem with 2002-2005 nissan altima. what makes the problem worse is that the converter disintegrates and gets sucked into the engine and cause engine damage and stalling. spoke to nissan customer care and escalated to executive response team at nissan, and they are unwilling to accept responsibility for a faulty part for which they had issued 3 tsbs but refuse to accept responsibility for the defective part and subsequent damage to engine. this should be a recall or at least a warranty extension. *tr

I see in 2007 nissan recalled the crankshaft and i was never informed of this. i took my car to sears on march 31st and brought a battery because i thought this was the problem the check engine light was still on so i took my car to my mechanic today 4-1-14 and was told not only do i have to replace my crankshaft sensor, but my speed sensor and my fuel pump system which is going to cost me a total of $1395.66 to repair is there anything i can do about this since nissan never informed me of the problem with the crankshaft in 2007? *tr

2005 nissan altima. consumer states several problems with vehicle to include brakes, trunk leak, relay switch *tgw the consumer stated when he purchased the vehicle, it had been traded two days prior, and the safety inspection had not been performed. the dealer told the consumer, he could keep it over the weekend and bring it back the next business day for the safety inspection so they could repair any problems. when the consumer arrived home with the vehicle, he noticed a cover for the seat belt connector was not attached and there was standing water in the spare tire wheel well. the consumer was informed the trunk problem was fixed. however, water was found in the spare wheel well again. also, the check engine light illuminated due to a faulty gas relay switch. the consumer stated two weeks later, the brakes started squealing. *jb the consumer stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have the rear wheel bearings replaced. however, the warranty company stated the bearings were not covered under warranty. the warranty company stated their denial of coverage was based on the fact, the vehicle was front-wheel drive. updated 07/19/12

Car will not accelerate and creeps along in limp home mode. its vehicle speed control problem is exactly the same as nhtsa recall 13v43000 of sept. 26, 2013, that affects nissan infiniti models. after stopping and restarting once or twice the problem will disappear. in traffic this is very dangerous. it happens 2 or 3 times a year. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated the gauges that turn on the defroster cause the driver to take their eyes off of the road. the gas cap is at an awkward angle and too hard to turn. the contact has back problems and must sit in the driver seat at a 90 degree angle, causing the contact to be too close to the airbag. updated 03/17/06. *jb

Dt: the contact stated the fuel system and cluster module had to be replaced with less than 800 miles on the vehicle. there was a pinging noise coming from under the mid section. the vehicle was taken to the dealership, and they stated this noise was normal. a local mechanic determined it was a broken catalytic converter. based on complaints on a website she felt that a clamp nut may be loose. this has not been addressed by the dealership. after 90 minutes in the vehicle the contact became dizzy by what she felt may be related to the exhaust system. the transmission jerked, and hesitated in low gears. the dealership has not been able to diagnose the problem with the transmission. the front windshield defroster partially defrosts the driver's side, but did not work at on the passenger's side. the vehicle has not been seen by the dealership for the defroster. *ak

I purchased my vehicle 3 months ago. at approxiamately 2950 miles, my service engine soon light came on. immediatly after that my car became sluggish and is having acceleration problems and feels like it is dragging. brought to dealer service and they said the problem is with the throttle body and they have to order a replacement part. they released the car to me. i asked them if it were okay to drive, and if doing so would it make the problem worse, they advised no, it is okay to drive. i called in 3 days later to see if the part was recieved, they stated it was not, they claim the part is on back order.
