In states where road salt is used, ford is recalling certain vehicles where the license plate lamp assembly may experience an electro-chemical reaction and corrosion as a result of water intrusion. ford's list of recalled vehicles appear to be very narrow. my 2007 lincoln mkx (three years prior to the current recall list) has the same problem - one of the 2 license plate lights is corroded and quit working (it was rusted and fell apart when i went to replace it). i expect the other light isn't far behind. if there is an increased risk of fire, the current recall should warrant a closer look at adding more vehicles that used this component. re: nhtsa campaign number: 14v285000 component(s): exterior lighting consequence: corrosion may result in a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. *tr
