My panoramic sunroof exploded while i was driving on the interstate for no apparent reason. no impact; i saw nothing, witnesses behind me say nothing hit me, i wasn't under an overpass, i wasn't following anyone closely. driving straight at about 75mph.
My child who is currently 13, has managed to pull the rear passenger handle off the vehicle twice in the 6 years we have owned it requiring replacement both times as the piece holding the handle in is plastic and has shattered. the first time he was only 7. it is unacceptable for a door handle to be able to be destroyed by a child multiple times. also, the handle which allows the second row seat to fold forward for passengers to gain access to the third row does not work. we have asked for this to be fixed at the dealership multiple times but they have been unable to get it to work properly either. obviously both of these problems occur when the vehicle is stationary.
While my daughter was driving on the highway, the brakes failed. the mechanic showed me the brake lines toward the rear suspension rusted through. also the support for the rearend rusted through making the vehicle dangerous to drive. the brake lines from front to back were changed and i am looking to have the support brackets changed.
I was driving straight in a grain silo town in kansas (coming up on oakley from colorado springs) and there were no cars around me. the weather wasn't drastically changing and there was no adverse weather. suddenly, it sounds as though there was an explosion on the top of my car. the fabric partition that separates the sunroof from the interior of the car starts shaking violently in the wind and there was some glass shards that fell into the car. it goes without saying that the incident scared both me and my two kids who were in the car with me. i pulled over to the closest gas station and took a look at the damage (seen in the picture below). as i had the rest of my road trip to accomplish (kansas city, mo), my husband met me in oakley, ks with his car and we made the exchange. i am a very meticulous driver who inspects everything before a road trip: tire pressure, window cracks, interior is intact, drastic change in weather along the trip, etc. i would have never thought to look at the sunroof and even if i did, i'm not sure i would have ...
The back door on passenger side handle fell off, taking to kia tomorrow but getting sense there claiming no issue
Kia sorento 2011 door handles keep coming apart in our hands when just opening doors 'normally' (i.e.- no jerking forces used, just normal opening force !!!) kia must be held accountable for these absurd 90% plastic door handles ! this is the 3rd time - we are not going to keep paying kia dealer to fix handles ! us gov't must get involved in this!what kind of bogus design uses plastic handles? please make this issue known to proper gov't agencies & kia 🧐thank you
