Driving on highway at 65 miles per hour and car suddenly lost all power and came to complete stop in heavy traffic. vehicle restarted after 2 attempts. took to kia dealer for inspection and there was no recorded code and they were unable to re-create issue so nothing was done. reading other complaints of sudden stalls on this site makes driving this vehicle scary. the vehicle has only 31k miles on it and has had no other issues. kia should be doing something before someone has a tragic accident!
I have taken my 2013 kia sorento to my local dealership after the latest engine recall. they upgraded software but gave no further explanation. everytime i get my oil change its almost empty. the past 2 oil changes there has been almost no oil. yesterday, i was driving, on the highway and check engine, oil, battery, light came on flashing and the car stalled in the middle lane of the highway. i was able to pull over and call a tow truck. i turned the vehicle off and 15 min later while waiting for tow truck i tried to turn it on and it came one. i canceled the tow and i am at the dealership today . my car is not leaking oil anywhere and i know there has been a engine recall on my make, model and year. i am afraid of the cost of the repair and the safety of a vehicle that stops in the middle of the highway.
1 week after purchasing my 2017 kia sorento fe awd from rochester tom kadlec kia in august 2019, i went to use my cruise control and it wouldn't set. "cruise" came on, but could not be set to my speed. issue happened around 1-2 times a week on 45 mile commute on highway. later on about a month later, i set my cruise control and once set, the speed began to climb. starting at 65, and going up to 70 before i had to use my brakes to turn cruise control off as the buttons didn't work. on dec 16th, my car showed a check engine light then stalled after putting it into drive from reverse. i turned the car off, then back on and drove "normally". took it into the shop same day for an oil change and they read the codes, "p2106, p2110, p063 limp mode and throttle actuator control range" they also noted my vehicle has a timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket leak, and my battery tested at 12.39volts and 339cca out of 640cca. recommended battery replacement. my shop asked me to check the dealership for my warranty, and it's 5 years ...

The vehicle will unexpectedly surge when the accelerator is applied, especially from stopped and at low speeds. this unintended and abrupt is a safety hazard as there is the ongoing possibility of crashing into another vehicle or obstruction.
When pressing on the acceclarator pedal, the vehicle will start to accelerate then it will not accelerate. check engine light comes on. this happens when i am in motion going over 20 mph.

Tl* the contact owns a 2019 kia sorento. while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle did not respond and then suddenly accelerated. the contact stated that the failure occurred all the time ever since the vehicle was purchased in april of 2019. the vehicle was taken to steve hann auto group (1730 s 1st st, yakima, wa 98901) on three occasions, but they were not able to replicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 10,500.
Kia was purchased less than a year ago. this is the third time it was taken to a dealership to get checked. car engine light comes on and loses power and keeps going into limp mode. it is a safety hazard and must be dealt with. today while in the passing lane car lost all power and would not move. i was driving about 45mph and it wouldn't go . a tractor trailer was speeding behind me and nearly rear ended me as i was in the passing lane and couldn't make it go again to pull over. when i eventually got it to pull over it was idling high and did not sound right. mechanic came and placed vehicle on computer and again three codes came up including engine power failure and limp mode. i could have been seriously injured due to kias lack to repair this defect and this could be a lawsuit waiting to happen. i want to be reimbursed for repairs or an allowance toward a new vehicle purchase.
