Vehicle stalls during normal operation both while moving at traffic speeds and at a stop. initial occurance was while turning left thru an intersection. engine rpms dropped to zero and engine quit running. restarted after shifting into neutral. happened 15 additional times during twenty minute drive home - while stopped at a light, slowing for other vehicles, and when not actually accelerating while driving down the road. vehicle will not idle once restarted without stalling out. battery connections are tight, oil levels are normal. vehicle speed varied from stopped at a traffic light to 55 mph on open road. stalling occurred whenever accelerator pedal was not depressed. shifting into neutral and revving motor prevented stalling while at a stop. unless under acceleration vehicle engine will not remain operating. i am not a qualified mechanic or safety expert, but this condition seems unsafe to me.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to romeo kia of kingston (111 schwenk dr, kingston, ny 12401, (845) 477-5400) where it was diagnosed that the connecting rod fractured through the middle of the engine assembly and metal fragments were present. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 77,000.
I was driving my car home from work and it shut off on me as i was driving on a busy city street. i tried to start it and it just kept shutting off. i had someone hook up a computer on it and it said something was wrong with my camshaft timing.i had no warnings leading up to this. it just shut off in the middle of driving it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. while operating the vehicle, the check engine indicator suddenly flashed on and off and the vehicle's speed would not increase past 20 mph. the message "limp home mode" was also displayed. the vehicle was towed to antioch kia (119 il-173, antioch, il) where it was diagnosed that the nox sensor was faulty. the nox sensor was reprogrammed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 62,000.
I was driving my car on the highway when my engine stop running, im told by kia the engine seize up and it is not covered
Takata recall. i have a 2015 kia sorento. at about 76,000 miles, the engine began to burn oil. i had it checked for a leak, but the mechanics couldn't find anything. when i start the engine, blue smoke emits from the tail pipe. i am loosing about a quart of oil every 200 miles.
Purchased a used 2015 kia sorento from a used car lot on february 15, 2018. i've experienced no issues with the vehicle until august 19, 2018 while driving home from work. while driving on the freeway, and accelerating, the vehicle completely stalled. we pulled the vehicle over and tried our best to get it to restart. it had to be towed home. a certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed the kia had complete engine failure due to the engine seizing. please contact me for inspection documentation (currently at work and unable to upload the receipt).
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. the contact purchased the vehicle on august 15, 2018. a couple of days later, the check engine indicator illuminated, the vehicle would not accelerate on the highway, and the vehicle shook. galeana chrysler jeep kia (180 greystone blvd, columbia, sc 29210, (803) 779-7300) performed a diagnostic test and cleared some of the codes that appeared; however, the failures recurred. on another occasion, when the vehicle was started, a booming sound was heard from the engine compartment. an independent mechanic stated that some screws detached from the cam timing shaft and the vehicle was leaking oil. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer, but they stated that they could not assist since the vehicle was out of warranty. the contact was referred to the manufacturer who also stated that the vehicle was out of warranty since it had over 60,000 miles. the dealer stated that the vehicle had a history of code misfires and needed a new engine. the failure mileage was 70,000.
I bought a 2015 kia sorento with 85000 miles on it for my stepdaughters first car owned it for 6 months it was great the other day she was driving 50 mph on country road and the engine quite and siezed up no noise no warning no check engine light dealer says it needs a new engine called kia absolutely got no we're even though there a ton off complaints about kia engines doing the same thing they say there's no recalls on this particular vehicle.
My 2015 kia, has always make some engine noise, i did not buy it new brand and always checked out ok when i had the maintenance done on it. the noise was getting louder and more noticeable. i took it into be checked and they said my engine is failing. kia says since i wasn't the 1 first owner on the vehicle they will not cover it, i took out an extended warranty and they are now giving me trouble about covering it since i haven't found every maintenance record, but most of them.
Driving on a 4 lane highway my 2015 kia sorento died without warning and made a clicking noise when i tried to start it. i had the car towed to a local kia dealership who advised metal shavings were found in the oil, which clogged the oil filter, restricting oil flow thus causing the connecting rod bearings to break. they confirmed there was no sludge found in the engine. the car needs the engine replaced and my extended warranty is refusing to pay citing there was not sufficient oil lubrication due to low oil which caused the connecting rod bearings to break. however, the dealership advised both myself, warranty, and adjuster the car was burning oil as no external engine leaks were found. all oil changes were completed by the kia dealership whom i purchased the car from and records were provided. at no point did any warning lights illuminate on the dashboard to indicate low oil or to check engine. my 2015 kia sorento has the gdi (or theta ii) engine which is named in multiple class action lawsuits for the same thing. i still owe on this car as i have only had for 1.5 years and am now looking at $5,000-$7,000 in repairs.
I was driving to work yesterday morning (7/10/18) on route 15 in sussex county. my speed was approximately 65-70 miles per hour. i heard a knocking sound, which alarmed me. it went away, and came back, off and on, while driving, a sound that i have never heard before with this vehicle, ever. no lights came on, no indicators, etc. i contacted newton kia, where the vehicle was purchased, and was told that they couldn't fit me in until friday. i made an appointment, but after doing this i decided to contact one closer to where i work, which is on rt. 10 in denville, nj. gateway kia. i brought the vehicle in and had them check out the noise. i was contacted and told that it was the engine, that it would cost $7100.00. the way i was notified was as if i have $7100.00 just sitting around, which i don't. the engine, the engine, no warning, no nothing. i picked up the vehicle, and drove it home, still hearing the knocking noise off and on. i attempted to go to work today, 7/11/18. the noise became worse about a block from my home. i turned around and came home, shut the car off, smoke came out from the engine area. let me make something very clear to whomever reviews this information. i am not paying for this repair, kia is. first thing you are told that you are over your warranty. i just turned 102,000 miles, have had no prior issues. this happened out of the blue, no prior noise or problems. i am now driving a rental, i need to get to work, i need my sorento fixed, and i am not paying for it. i am also going to be reimbursed for this rental. i, again, have had no prior issues with my vehicle. i am very upset about this, so what is going to be done about it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. while driving 75 mph, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine and the vehicle stalled. the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to family kia of st. augustine (2665 u.s. highway 1 south, st augustine, fl 32086, (904) 808-0542) where it was diagnosed that the engine was destroyed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
I have 2 concerns, 1 mainly i have a newer 2015 kia sorrento with under 25k miles, owned it about 2 years ever since i owned it there has been a ticking in the engine and white smoke blowing out the exhaust. which should not be thecase with a newer car, after taking it to the dealership they said nothing was wrong. additionally when i turn on the air conditioner it smells like vinegar or dirty socks an aweful smell, once again the dealership stated nothing wrong with the car. it sounds like kia is covering up old deficiencies with their engines as it said engines manufactured into late 2014 were recalled how is the 2015 kia, which was manufactured in 2014 not on the recall list? additionally there have been many many other people listing the engine seizing up. my wife drives this car with my small children im writing this retractively in case something happen. additionally we get regular oil changes done. i think this engine model should be recalled. as a newer engine should definitely not be blowing white smoke out of the exhaust nor ticking like the components are displaced.
Purchased this 2015 vehicle from a regional pa/nj reseller named carsense in november 2015 with 15,000 miles. maintained regular service and oil changes, although not always with castrol oil, as required for the carsense extended warranty. driving on the highway returning from the beach when the engine started a slight knock when accelerating. stopped and checked the oil level which was fine. just at 3,000 miles on the oil at the time. no check engine light. drove further and the check engine light came on and then the engine stalled. towed to a kia dealer and told engine was seized. as i am a second owner the 100,000 mile warranty did not apply. vehicle was 909 miles over the 60,000 mile warranty and not covered. escalated with kia consumer affairs who i chased for over a week with escalation requests. final answer ... we are sorry but the car is out of warranty. would not offer any relief on either parts or labor. replacing the engine to the tune of $5,400.00 including replacing a starter which mysteriously "burned up". we have found many similar stories with engine problems that are most likely related to the 2012-2014 2.4l engine recall.
Went to turn on the car the car had accelerated while in park. from there the same that the electrical part in the car stop working. the tire sensor was also on the engine sensor was also on major issues
Vehicle was under light load travelling approximately 55 mph on level ground on a state route and suffered catastrophic engine failure. it had a load banging/clacking sound and screeching then seized up bringing vehicle to a stop before i could safely pull off the roadway. mileage at the time was approximately 100,700. vehicle was towed to the dealer, and service determined the engine repairable and in need of complete replacement. warranty coverage has been denied. cost to replace the engine are $5000 for a used engine to over $6000 for a rebuilt/re manufactured replacement.
My wife was driving home from work and while in rush hour traffic on the highway traveling approximately 50 mph the engine just stopped. she did not receive any warning, no smoke coming from the tailpipe, and none of the check/oil lights came on in the dash. she was fortunate to get it pulled over to the side of the road before it stopped. when i arrived to see what was wrong there wasn't any oil in the engine. i had just checked the oil 10 days prior while filling up for gas and the oil was full. i added oil and tried starting the car and it would not start. towed the vehicle home and discovered the battery completely died. i replace the battery and the engine started but i was hearing a constant tick-tick-tick and once putting the car in gear there was a very loud rattle, then it almost died. next day i contacted kia to have it towed to a local dealership and they opened the engine. the head mechanic told me that it was a sign of lack of maintenance because there was massive amounts of sludge and kia warranty would not cover it. i informed the mechanic that i complete all my oil changes but don't save the receipts and couldn't produce them. suggested by the mechanic to call consumer line and i received a bunch of run-around and said since i don't have maintenance records they will not honor their warranty. after detailed research i have found numerous complaints of exactly the same issue from other consumers that own a 2015 kia sorento as well, including this site. i believe a complete recall is in order for all 2015 kia sorento's for engine trouble and kia needs to honor their warranty!
Been having problems with the car for over 8 months. eats oil like no ones business. white smoke coming out of the exhaust. every time i run the on board diagnostic, it has always said no problems exist. today, my husband comes home from an appointment, and tells me the vehicle was running really rough, shaking the entire car. we check the oil everyday and we've tried going to two different kia dealers for our oil changes, and they never tell us anything is wrong. now, this comes up today. i do the on-board diagnostic and it reads. "possible condition(s) with your engine control system has been detected." schedule a full system check with your nearby kia dealer soon. the car shakes horribly. up until this time, no shaking, some white exhaust when starting the car, but no major problems. no engine lights on, until today. we have had regular maintenance on the vehicle. it even passed smog testing. so now, after reading similar complaints, i worried, i won't be getting my car fixed.
When my wife and i started our family we were so happy to purchase the 2015 sorrento , 92,000 miles and 3 years later the engine locks up out of nowhere. i was going about 60 on the expressway and the engine started making a weird rattling noise less that 10 seconds later the car lost power steering the brakes were not very responsive. after a near death experience of trying to navigate to the safety of the emergency lane, i began to look up this issue. kia had a recall on the engines from 2011-2014 for the same issue. every post or review i read, the customers had experienced the same issue as my 2015. the people that had 2015 or newer who experienced these same issues was told that the best warranty in the business will not apply unless you have had all oil changes done at a kia dealership or have all receipts of maintenance done to the car. if they did have all receipts they were told because the oil changes were not done by kia the warranty will not apply. catch 22? my 2005 expedition has 218,000 miles and still runs great. my 93 cadillac sedan deville have 157,000 miles and stills runs great. but some how the non american car i purchased died in 3 years and 92,000 miles. as a high school teacher every student i come in contact with for the next 15 years will be scared away from this company. im downtrodden because i know that the corporate entity called kia is going to fight tooth and nail to say there engine in the 2015 in not faulty and i almost died because they have faulty engines. i made sure to always change the oil in this car before the due date because it transported my wife and child. my family has had a lot of cars from all sorts of makes, never seen this happen to a car so quickly and without warning!
While driving at 60 mph, car decelerated and the engine stopped working. able to pull off to side of road. engine is being replaced under 100k warranty.
Driving on highway,i stopped at a traffic light,my engine stalled,i was unable to get engine restarted. was towed to dealer, was told they would check car on monday.on monday was told engine needs replacement.it is well known that kia theta 2 engines have bad crank shafts, causing engines to fail. i want my engine replaced at no cost to me,because of their mistake.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. the contact stated that while the driver was driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. the driver turned off the engine. the vehicle was restarted two hours later and was able to drive. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed but no failure code was found. the failure recurred a second time. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where a second diagnostic testing was completed with results that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 166,000.
I was driving down the highway and began to make a strange noise and engine light came on. it decelerated and i exited closest exit. it then died at stop light. i had to have it towed and engine needed replaced.
My kia sorento 2015 started making a noise when i would try to accelerate it started burning look and i took it to kia where the technician told me that my car was having the same problem from all of the sorentos 2014 that had been recalled, i contacted kia and they denied my repairs now i'm stuck paying for a car that doesn't work. my car has only 68,000 miles
Todays date: 12/21/2017. purchased vehicle 11/9/2017. approx. 61,500 miles. i check equipment fluids regularly. while driving, the oil indication light illuminated. i pulled over, checked. almost bone dry. no forewarning of any kind. the dealer serviced it prior to my purchase, so, i have had no reason to schedule vehicle service yet. vehicle was manufactured march 5, 2014 ( 3/5/2014 ) .
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. while driving approximately 65 mph, the check engine and check oil warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle started to slowly decelerate until it stalled. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (parkside kia in knoxville, tennessee) where it was diagnosed that the engine seized because of sludge, and a new engine was needed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 61,000.
Takata recall we have around 41000 miles on our 2015 kia sorrento. my husband took a position working approximately 2.5 hours away from our home and making a daily commute of 5 hours each day to work. we have never had any trouble out of our sorento. in saturday, october 14, 2017 after a long day at work he was traveling home and was about 1.75 hours into his 2 hour commute when our sorento started making a terrible knocking noise. no light indicators came on to indicate what could possible be going wrong at the time. he got over in the slow lane and dropped his speed to approximately 30mph. before every trip he made a point to check the oil and that morning was no diffetent. all oil levels were fine. after a few minutes the oil light came on. he got off at the next exit and put in around 1 quart of oil.. still no lights but the terrible knocking noise coninured. he sat for a bit and let the new oil run through and started to make his way home at which time the engine light and the oil light came on. he then pulled over and called a tow truck and had our car towed home. our engine is completely blown. upon starting it makes a terrible knocking noise and after 15 to 20 seconds turns off. a mechanic checked our car over and said there was metal shavings in our oil. we have contacted kia but they we are not willing to do anything as we did not get all services and oil changes at the dealership.
2015 kia sorento. consumer writes in regards to engine issues. *ld the consumer stated the engine seized due to a sludge build-up inside the valve cover. *js
I experienced a sudden engine failure on august 27, 2017 on my 2015 kia sorento lx with 28k miles. the engine type is a theta ii 2.4l gdi. the complete engine failure happened without warning while driving 65 mph on an interstate. the car immediately lost all acceleration capabilities. there were no warning displays or unusual noise/movement beforehand. it was a very dangerous situation and fortunately i was able to get to the shoulder and avoid any severe safety issues. the car was towed for a nearby kia dealership in new jersey and they diagnosed the engine failure. kia has acknowledged this engine problem and they paid for a remanufactured engine and car rental costs for a nearly two-week period. the newly installed engine is only under warranty for 10 years from the original purchase date, not the date of the remanufactured engine installation. the car's service has been up to date and i've had no previous issues with the car. why has this engine problem not yet been recalled for 2015 sorentos? it's likely a very similar problem to the kia engine recalls earlier this year. the kia dealership in new jersey indicated that they replace dozens of new engines a month, including on many new 2017 and even 2018 models. does someone need to be killed for action to be taken?
Vehicle engine stopped on freeway, causing me to have to lose power brake and power steering ability, was barely able to get vehicle off freeway and stop without causing major accident to several other vehicles. engine exhibits same symptoms are previous model year recall from kia and hyundia but dealer fails to acknowledge issue in same exact engine, but one year later model. there is a recall under sc147 for 2012-2014 kia sorento and like type vehicles, however mine is a 2015, and as mentioned has the same exact symptoms as previous year engines. requesting sc147 to be extended into model year 2015 and 2016 vehicles to have cars serviced before this causes injury or death in other motorists.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. while driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle shut off and the oil warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (myrtle beach kia in myrtle beach, sc) where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to an internal engine failure. the dealer recommended that the engine needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the warranty applied to the original owner only. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 73,864.
37000 miles , short 120 trip, oil checked before starting, 110 into trip, loss of power,,rod knock, engine seized, towed to closest garage. nom at lexington ky. kia waiting on the battle of warranty to began waiting for the lo
Engine locked up with no warning lights or other indication it was happening. vehicle was driven to store and parked. came back out and it wouldn't start. towed to dealer. dealer says excess sludge in engine even with regular oil changes. vehicle has 72,819 miles and dealer is stating it will not be covered under 100k power train warranty. pictures of engine do not indicate excess sludge.
Driving vehicle in town at approximately 40 mph. engine lost power and shut off. was able to coast out of traffic and off the side of the road. would not restart. had vehicle towed to local kia dealer where they proceeded to tell me the engine had locked up and this only happens due to poor maintenance and sludge buildup in engine. they did an inspection and found engine to be clean and a rod bearing had failed causing the problem. they replaced engine under 100k mile power train warranty.
We started having problems at about 20,000 miles.the car was pulling as we tried to accelerate and smoke would blow out of the tailpipe. we took it into the dealership in which they stated we had sludge in the engine. they stated to maintain regular oil changes, but we would need a new engine. 4 months later they did an oil change and stated the oil was clear of sludge. within 2 weeks, we heard a loud banging sound from the engine, it got louder and was barely going 5 miles/hr. we were on a major road and were able to pull into a parking lot. we had it towed to the dealership (central kia of plano). without even looking at it, they said it was the sludge in the engine and we needed our engine replaced ($7000). they would not even look under the hood until we paid them $400 to open it up. they stated the work would not be covered under our warranty even though we are only 2 years into it and around 30,000 miles. i called kia consumer affairs (800-333-4542) and they contacted the dealership and that's when they finally opened the hood and found sludge in the engine. they took pictures and sent it to kia "tech" in which our claim was declined due to "lack of maintenance". we provided receipts for our oil changes. they did not accept 3 of them because they did not have a "po#" and they did not accept 2 of my credit card receipts. i told kia consumer affairs the 2015's are having the same issues as the recalls 2011-2014. she stated the dmv is collecting information on the 2015's. everyone call consumer affairs!! there is an engine problem with the 2015's and kia is not standing by their warranty. we have not been provided a rental car. i have also escalated this issue to kia's "escalation dept" in which they stated to get them more receipts and "tech" can review the case again! i have gathered more receipts including how often we were putting oil in between oil changes.
We had just left home, and were driving at approximately 40 miles per hour, and no "warning lights or indicator lights" came on, we lost all power about a quarter mile away. coasting to the side of the road and called for road-side assistance. had vehicle towed to dealer, and was told it was engine failure, due to seizure of engine.
The vehicle was in motion 35mph when suddenly all the lights in the panel flashed and the vehicle came to a complete stop. the dealer diagnosed the car with engine failure . they refused to cover the damage under warranty and claim that is due to lack of maintenance even though we provided them with service records. this is a faulty engine and kia is refusing to stand by their product.
Leased a 2015 kia sorrento, in my third year of lease, regular oil changes every 3 months, heard a knocking sound in engine at approx. 35,000 miles on my way home from my son's hockey game on the highway which got louder and louder. took it to the kia dealer and immediately the sales person informed me that it was the connector rod failure without even working on the car. showed kia all my receipts for oil changes, waited two weeks to hear back from them, finally i called and they offered to pay for engine but i would be on the hook for 1200 on labor. not sure why i am on the hook for labor on a faulty engine. they claimed there was sludge in the engine. looked online and saw a recall for optima engine connecting rod for kia in which they are extending their warranty from 100,000 miles to 120,000 miles because of the same connecting rod problem. so they know they have an issue with this part but still wants me to pay for some of the cost. i don't have 1200 to pay for the repair, its now going on 3 weeks without the vehicle while they review my claim, no rental vehicle, and i am expected to pay on a lease of a vehicle i don't have. vehicle is still in repair shop.
V6 engine stalls randomly when accelerating into or across traffic. . kia service dept. unable to find cause with using electronic testing equipment. stalling is random and unable to replicate with service dept personnel. a real safety issue.
While driving approximately 50mph in my sorrento the car hesitated and stalled when i pressed the gas to pass a car next to me. ithe felt like a slip. i wasn't sure what to make of it, but over the next 4 days it started happening more frequently. i went to turn it on the 4th morning and a cloud of white smoke came out of my tailpipe. i decided it needed to go to kia immediately. my sorrento is a 2015 with 27xxx miles on it. this is not what i expected from a new car. i brought it to kia and was called 10 minutes after i received my courtesy ride back. i was told a diagnosis was sludge and they needed maintenence records. i brought my receipts (which i had to have my mechanic type back out as i hadn't saved any reciepts). when we brought those in i had a spare key to my car and noticed it was in the parking lot. i checked under the hood only to discover they hadn't even pulled the valve cover on the car (i know this because there was a dead wasp frozen to the top of the bolt you need to take off to remove the cover that was there when i brought it in). they informed me that they opened the cap and that's how they knew even though initially on the phone they said they pulled the valve cover. they took my service papers and called me the next day to say kia won't cover it and rejected my records. my mechanic is a licensed mechanic. no reason given for the rejection. they say we will be responsible for engine replacement but still can't give us a diagnosis other than "sludge". so much for their "best warranty in the business". *tr
We had a 2015 kia sorento that was burning through very high amounts of oil when driven on the highway. the dealership could not find a problem but asked us to supply all oil change records which we did not have available, the car was under lease. when we brought it back to kia, on lease, we were told we had to pay over $6000. we have not paid at this point.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced due to low oil maintenance. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
I was driving down the road with my 4 children in the car at 45 mph when all of a sudden my car completely lost power. luckily i was able to coast to the side of the road. it was over a 100 degrees outside and my 4 kids under 6 had to sit and wait on a ride in the heat. the car has 40,000 miles on it and has had 7 oil changes, of which i have provided the receipts for. there is engine sludge despite the fact that the oil was changed more frequently than the manual suggested 7500 miles,
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly jerked and stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle failed to restart and had to be towed to the nearest dealer. it was diagnosed that sludge was present in the oil reservoir, which caused the engine to shut down. the vehicle had to be towed back to the state of residence and the dealer diagnosed that improper oil changes were performed. the engine had to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Had oil light go on when i would take off from a stop but would turn off when i stop. i called the dealer and took it in and was told that the oil filter was put in wrong. the dealer put a new one on and did all the test to make sure it was working proper. nine day later i had a oil leak and called the same dealer and was told to come back in. the service manager then told me the because someone else had done other oil changes on the car i would have to pay for any repairs if the other place would not. when i asked about the part being under warranty the service manager told me that this part was not under warranty. the service also told me that even if the dealer did the oil change after the first one that kia would not warranty it. so now i will get a bill over 900 dollars and still not know if i have a engine that will work .
The suv has been having white smoke coming from tailpipe and the car has been pulling. it makes ugly noise when we try to accelerate on the freeway and pulls. the oil light isn't coming on to tell us when the oil is low even if it's not time for a pil change. we seem to notice that the car is burning oil more frequently than a normal vehicle. also notice sludge when we check the oil even if we had just had a oil change it seems to come back. the dealer keeps telling me there is nothing wrong with it. they tell me they can't find anything wrong.
How can nhtsa give a 5-star safety rating to a 2015 kia sorrento based on a 2013 crash test done on this model vehicle when there is obvious a problem with this vehicle in the 2014/2015 kia sorrento models. since 2014, there has been at least 2 serious injuries and other complaints due to this defect and its non-deployent of airbags, etc. (please look at the photos, video & small overlay crash report at http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/kia/sorento-4-door-suv/2015)..the manufactiurer was well aware of this since they redesigned the 2016 model. this defect should be made public for all vehicles affected with these issues which should repaired or recalled to avoid further risk of serious injuries and/or loss of life. it is completely wrongful, harmful and negligent of nhtsa to give an "5-star safety rating" on a later model vehicle based on an outdated test & without fully and appropriatel testing; rendering false misrepresentation to the vehicle shopper.....updated 06/21/17 *bf *js
(amendments to odi#s: 10668775 & 10663356 - update) on 12/01/2014, i was in a 2015 kia sorento lx (enterprise insurance rental) traveling on crabb river road, (a city street) sugarland, texas. i fully stopped at the traffic lights because it was red. once lights turned green, i put the vehicle in motion by stepping on the gas pedal to accelerate but the car felt really sluggish so i gave it more gas in order to gain enough speed as i was about to go over some railroad tracks (approx. 55+ mph) which were on a road that was on an incline. right as the car reached the tracks, the engine stalled, the steering wheel locked and i lost all control of the vehicle and it dove into a ditch; plowed directly into a steel billboard pole which was cemented into the ground because the brakes became unresponsive. there were no warning lights on the dash prior to the crash. even though i was fully buckled, the seatbelt did not prevent my head from violently hitting the windshield and bouncing off the steering wheel since none of the 8 airbags deployed. i suffered near fatal injuries including a broken back (l2 fracture), spinal cord, head, eye, chin, jaws, neck and hip; broken teeth, permanent disfiguration (18 stitches), some vision & hearing loss from nerve damage and ptsd, mental anguish, chronic migraines, extreme stress, terrible recurring nightmares, etc. i'm a 5'2" woman and my chest was pinned to the steering wheel upon the impact with the pole and the fire dept. had to free me and lift me up to the emts. i was transported to the er of a hospital by ambulance and later transferred to the trauma unit of memorial hermann hospital due to the severity of my injuries.
I purchased a new 2015 kia sorento may 17, 2014. as i was driving down the road last night at approximately 45mph, suddenly the car jerked around, sounded like i downshifted (although it's an automatic) and i got the diagnostic message of the "engine control system- possible engine condition" it told me to take it to the dealership for service immediately. they said today that they had to order a new throttle body assembly and it was too dangerous for me to drive. not sure if anyone else has had these problems yet but it shouldn't be happening in a brand new car! *tr
