Egine stalls and ac on stalls and has died 3times
Engine make noise and not running well
Traveling on highway when heard engine noise and then immediately engine seized, car stopped running altogether and was able to drift to side of road. towed to closest kia dealer who says engine must be replaced at a cost of $16 thousand!!! kelly bluebook worth of vehicle is approx. $8,000. recall for this same problem doesn't seem to extend beyond 2014 engines although there are numerous documented customer complaints of same problem in later year kia's. help!
While driving on the interstate my suv loose excelarate and engines light and oil pan light came on i pulled over and engine shut down try turning suv over and it did not turn over i had it towed and machanic said the engine is freeze up.
After last oil change aprox. 3 months ago. no issues until last week when suv would sound like it's accelerating really fast but not going very fast. on startup i kept hearing a squealing and grinding sound. one day out driving without any warning lights or anything my car seems to loose power if i took my foot off gas. took it to mechanic who said the engine needs to be replaced. when using the machine to read codes it read p0014 and p0024 (camshaft positioning sensors) was told to check wires and sensors didn't seem to be the ultimate problem. during it's last visit to the mechanic it drained out 2 quarts of oil but no oil had been leaking anywhere. crude was inside the oil check tube.
2015 kia sorento awd engine seized. i was driving and without and warning the car shut down and wont start. i found out this is not new. now i have to find out how to continue to take care of my wife and kids without a car. i've seen so many complaints about the engine i have and there has been no investigation and this is a dangerous situation recalls for the same thing have been sent out but not for the 2015 kia sorento. i really hope some one does something about this. i was on a busy road slowing down for a red light and car shut off almost hitting the car in front of me. again no warnings. i also smelled smoke like wires burning.
Vehicle has 85,940 miles on it and has a blown head gasket. i bought it in april and it has run fine. took the vehicle in for a routine oil change and the technician noticed coolant leaking from the engine block by the connection point with the head gasket cover on the driver's side of the engine. this is not expected from a ~4 year old vehicle with < 100,000 miles that's only driven about 10 miles a day m-f on roads with speed limits below 45 and very little traffic.
Bought my kia sorento about a year and a half ago. it had about 64,000 miles on it. it now has 87,000. we noticed heavy oil consumption within a few months of owning it. no oil leaks exist. at first it would need about a quart or so between oil changes, but continued to get worse because now we need almost 3 between oil changes. oil light began flickering on and off intermittently on the highway heading home followed shortly after by a check engine light. i stopped and checked the stick to find that it's essentially dry. i buy the recommended oil at the gas station i'm at and add it. just before finally arriving home the engine back to sputter and lose power accompanied by a tapping noise. another crappy kia engine that didn't even make it to 100,000. they better fix this.
I was driving the car and then it slowed down to 40 mph and cut off on the highway. i cranked it back up and it made a weird noise. i called a tow truck. took it to the shop and they said the engine needs to be repaired. there is no way that it should be having motor issues. the oil has always been changed on time. also i have to change the headlight bulbs on the left and right
The engine light came on and the car turned off while we were driving. we were on the hwy. when it did start it would accelerate and then decrease in speed on its own. we tried to find the code but it didn't register any thing wrong.
2015 sorento engine died on me twice in one day, once while driving down the highway after applying the brakes after the person in front of me was breaking and the other time after i turned onto my street. i had to pull over both times and restart the car. it's never done this until today 9-26-19. i could have been killed due to the engine dying on me while driving. apparently this has happened to many people with this vehicle and a recall needs to be done.
Blown head gasket and cracked engine block. we noticed a smell of burning antifreeze when we parked and got out of the car. took it to the dealership and they said the head gasket was blown and the engine block was cracked and needed to be replaced.
I was accelerating on to a on ramp to interstate 405 when he engine light started to blink and car losing power at the same time. the car also proceeded to make an engine knocking noise and i exited the highway to get off and got it towed . the car has 51, 800 miles and i am original owe we and have had regular oil changes and maintenance .
Car started making knocking noises from engine and got louder as my husband accelerated. car then hesitated to accelerated and eventually stalled. this is dangerous!
I was traveling at approximately 50 mph, i accelerated to pass a car in front of me and when i came around the car, about 60 mph, the engine stalled and all of the warning lights on the dash came on. the engine lost all power, even though the air and all other functions on the car continued to function. i pulled to the side of a very busy highway when this happened, turned the key to the off position and tried to restart it, nothing happened. luckily someone i knew was driving by and stopped to help me. the first thing he did was check the oil and it was full, it wasn't due for an oil change for another 200 miles. there was no indication of any type of problem with my car previous to this. regular maintenance was done and it is at 74,000 miles. i had the car towed to a repair shop near my home and as i feared, the motor was seized. i cannot believe that this is happening, i bought the car used with less than 70,000 miles on it less than 6 months ago. the main reason i purchased it was because kia is known as a reliable car with an amazing warranty. i found out while signing the papers that the warranty is not passed on the another owner and that it was only valid to 60,000 miles, which the car was already past. i decided to purchase anyway because everyone i know that owns a kia has never had trouble with their vehicle. the price of a new motor is going to be $5500. i am devastated and trusted that kia would not sell a vehicle knowing that there are such catastrophic engine problems. although the situation is bad, it could have been much worse if there would have been no where to bring the vehicle to a rest on the side of the road.
2015 kia sorento with 44,000 miles. on the freeway and the motor locked up. toast. kia covering but has lesser value and they knew this motor was defective
Vehicle continually flashes check engine light and once read at dealership shows engine misfire codes, however once code is cleared issue does not come back for months. misfire causes decreased engine poser and eventually if code is not cleared will result in loud dinging noise. kia has not been able to find any issues or find anything that can explain this. there are multiple people online with this same issue and yet no recall for this issue. kia needs to do something. vehicle can be sitting or in motion under normal operating environments (no off-roading).
Heading home on the highway and it shut down and i coasted it off the road. we discovered there was no oil in it but had no oil light warning or any other signs it was low on oil. the oil had been changed a few months before and was due to be changed in a couple of weeks. now my kia needs an engine replacement that i can't afford and since i purchased it used it is no longer under the kia warranty. i'm making payments on a vehicle that i can't drive and i see no reason that the oil should have been empty especially with no warning light.
I purchased my vehicle less than 2 years ago. i received regular oil changes on the vehicle, with the last one being 3 weeks ago. last week, i heard a loud rattling noise coming from the engine, upon acceleration. the next day, when i tried to start it the noise got louder. i contacted my warranty company and the had it towed to a local repair shop. the repair shop stated that the oil was very dirty and contaminated with metal, an issue that kia has had with their engines. the paperwork from my last oil change is currently in my vehicle, but the warranty company stated that i need every maintainence record since i had the vehicle for them to move forward. who keeps almost 2 years of oil changes? i contacted kia and told them the situation and how i only have the last oil change record, which she stated that's fine and that they probably won't even need them and they stated their had recalls on the engine sensors in this model that were supposed to alert you before the engine failure. they towed the vehicle to a kia dealership to handle to situation from there. the dealership called me, before even looking at the vehicle and asked for the maintenance records. he is supposed to look at the vehicle on monday and we will see from there. my wuestion is that with all of the complaints about the faulty engines on these modeks, why has nothing been done about it? are you waiting for someone to be severely injured to do so? why are these vehicles still allowed to be purchased?
My 2015 kia had its faulty engine replaced approximately 6 months ago. i drive this car approximately 9,000 miles over these months and drive it on vacation from ohio to wilmington, nc. the car was thoroughly checked by the dealer before we went on the trip- everything checked out fine. halfway through our vacation, the check engine light came on and stayed blinking. we had it towed to a dealer in wilmington, nc. they informed us that we had a bad knock sensor, kia was covering the cost as it was part of our new engine warranty. how does this happen with a brand new engine? there is no reliability, am i supposed to limit my driving because i can’t depend on my car? what about resale value - clearly i’ve got a real lemon here. where is my recourse?
This is my 4th time having to call a tow truck for my vehicle. i was reversing out of a parking space, and tried to put car in drive , car would not do anything. i tried again to put car in drive, would not budge. could not take key out of ignition, could not move steering wheel. later on tried to take keys out of ignition, it let me ,but would not start still. had it towed to dealership, did not find anything but a dead battery. i bought a new battery. picked car up. drove to store about 10 miles from home, same thing happened again. had it towed again. same conclusion .did not find anything again. drove car home. i may drive my car once a week. the next time i drove my car again it stopped on me in the middle of traffic , with no warning , the car just shut down. someone stopped and pushed me out the middle of street. thank god. had it towed again to kia dealership . needless to say, they found nothing but a dead battery. battery was less than 3 months old. bought from kia. made it home safely. 3 days later started car, turned on air, waited until cool inside . car cut off even before leaving driveway. could not believe it. this time it started right back up, to no avail, cut off again.
The engine burns oil fast. regular driving after we bought it was ok. we started hearing a mystery crunch noise, but it was a road trip that made the oil problem apparent. we took a trip of 300 miles. at the beginning of the trip the oil was full, when we got there it was almost dry. the crunch noise increased. we took it to a mechanic at our destination and he filled it up again. thr crunchy noise was gone. when we got back home after driving 300 miles again the oil was at low level. i am afraid to drive this car with my kids in it. i will check my oil everytime i drive but thay is not sustainable. i worry what else is wrong with this engine
Driving from alamogordo nm to el paso tx which is about 90 miles distance with my two kids the engine made an awful sound and stopped. i was by a pep boys service center and they checked it out. they found that the engine locked up! the suv only has 71150 miles on it! now i'm on foot and don't know what else to do! any help?
The first incident was after refueling. i did not top off. the car just died while idling, took 3 tries to start then lurched when i put it in drive and died again. i was told by the dealer it was because my tank was too full. i drove 325 miles to an almost completely tank. the indicator stated i still had 76 miles left of fuel. i put 14.5 gallons in (not to the full line) and 12 hours later, it won't start. the battery is new. it's not the battery.
The engine indicator light was coming on at first; i put it on a test and the service tech explained to me that the sensor needed to be replaced. now the airbag light is on.
Driving on the highway going about 75 in the fast lane when the check engine light came flashing on and the car slowed down to 60 would not accelerate at all was able to get it to the dealership. on the way to the dealership i noticed shifting from 1st to 2nd it did not want to go. i was told the car was in limp mode and then got told the engine had to be replace. estimated time for my car to be returned to me 2 months. when we first got the car was march 2019, a few days into driving it i noticed that it was shifting weird from first to second and had a hard time down shifting. we took the car back they said it's just a newer car to you and everything is fine. i said fine whatever. now it's may and it needs a new engine. this is ridiculously dangerous we have 3 kids and what if we all were in the car and it just shut down a high speed.
Was driving my kia and the engine light came on and the car shut down, no power at all. i didn't have time to get off of the road. the car is being towed to the dealership in the morning. i'm so disappointed / mad with kia manufacturer. i was driving in 6 lanes of traffic in downtown atlanta earlier, what would of happened if it would have stalled out on that busy interstate .. god is good..... do not buy a kia ' repeat do not buy a kia '
Car stalled on 4/28/2019 in the interstate it did not have any power and it has happened to several kia sorento owners but the recall for the engine still doesn't come up on the recall system. code: obdp1326
The vehicles engine just stalls out and shuts completely down. kia keeps saying camshaft sensor but yet they have replaced it three times in the past 2 months. it's the engine and it's not safe!! i've read many reports on this happening to others. i was driving down the highway and it just stalled out. i had to shut the car off and restart it and it kept happening. this is not safe! i have three children with me and i just about got hit by a semi. lawsuit in the making. this needs to be recalled asap!
This vehicle was purchased dec 1 2018 and the knock sensor failed on the trip back from the dealership. it was replaced and now april 22nd 2019 less than 5 months later it has failed again and left me stranded. the check engine light is flashing and the vehicle is stuck in limp mode. this model is known for this problem and should be added to the recall list.
While driving on the expressway at night, my car lost acceleration. no warning at all !!! the car completely stopped before making it completely to the shoulder. i had to get my car pushed by another car to avoid a major accident or fatality. i learned after towing my car to a repair shop that there was a recall that i wasn't informed of and my motor has to be replaced. thank god he sent angel's to protect us.
Was driving down the interstate, the engine completely shut off, i had no signs of my car needing oil wasn't due for a oil change for another 1,000 miles, my engine light never flashed the car never jerked or nothing just shut off and would not testart, called the tow truck he advised me that my motor was locked up, upon pulling the oil stick out i didn't not have 1 drop of oil in my car, i had no smoke or anything coming from my car it is a 2015 kia sorento however on the door it has a 2014 manufacturing date
On 3/10/2019, i was out of town, driving on the highway when my car lost speed, engine light came on and car shut down and wouldn't start back up. had to have car towed to near by shop and had to find a way back home, which was 2 hours away. on 3/11/2019, shop stated that my engine had froze. he could understand why engine froze because it had oil and i wasn't due for an oil change until another 800 miles. shop owner informed me that he have had 3 other customers with the same make and year who car did the same thing. i have taken my car to kia on several occasions for evo systems reading problem with system and told them that i heard a knocking and shaking in my engine. i have read about several other case similar online. clearly there is a problem with the engines in the 2015 kia sorento that you all aren't willing to investigate or admit too
I took my car in to a kia dealership recently for preventative maintenance, and because i noticed that it was not driving as smoothly as usual. i was told that nothing was wrong with the car, but, there was a product improvement campaign for which software was updated on my vehicle. approximately one month later, i was out of town in my vehicle, and all of a sudden the engine light began to flash, the rpms went down, the transmission appeared to slip, and the car was essentially disabled. the kia service department that i brought it to explained to my husband that the "product improvement campaign" -- where the software was added to my vehicle was due to the fact that kia knows that the engines have issues, and may have catastrophic failure early, and because of this, they have designed something to put the vehicle in a 'limp home mode', so that it is not further damaged. because this has not been called a recall -- even though kia has full knowledge of engine issues -- a vast majority of kia oweners of the affected vehicles have not had this software update, and are at risk of their engine failing at high speeds, endangering themselves, their families, and others. this is an absolute public safety issue. additionally, just replacing the engines is not enough, these vehicles need to be completely recalled. many are still being financed, and owners owe thousands of dollars on vehicles that will have to carry a salvage tag, and be worth pennies on the dollar due to having an engine that it was not manufactured with. please hold kia accountable for their irresponsibility, and consumer fraud.
While vehicle was traveling 70 mph on interstate, engine cut off. subsequent mechanic evaluation was engine is internally damaged and requires replacement
Approximately 1 month ago my car sounded rough so i checked the oil and nothing showed on the dipstick. i put oil in it and since have had to add more, also now my mechanic has diagnosed the alternator is going. oil shows up in the tailpipe which means the engine is using oil, it is not a leak. i am so disappointed as i bought it only one year ago and i use it for my living. i am expecting more problems and don't know how to proceed.
At approximately 70,000 miles, problems began. first noted the coolant container was contaminated with oil and sludge. entire system was sludged, did not know why. i had the system completely flushed and all new fluids replaced. 2 weeks later, again, the sludge appeared and coolant container filled with oil and coolant hose burned through due to the oil. the coolant hose was replaced. and again i had the entire system fluids flushed. again, the same thing happened with sludge but this time as i was driving the car 2 miles from my home to a main street bank, smoke came from the hood. opened the hood, smoke coming out from engine, and a sludge substance exploded throughout the car and oozed out of the car. could no longer drive the vehicle due to engine seize concerns. car was meticulously maintained- oil changes regularly, inspections etc. i was told i'd have to possibly get a new engined, or at the least have two head gaskets replaced at a cost of $5,500. despite kia touting the 100,000 mile power train warranty, and after weeks of trying to get the dealer to fix it, then went up the corporate ladder speaking with corporate, i was finally told that the warranty did not apply to me because i was not the original owner!!!! this despite the fact that i purchased the car certified pre-owned from the kia dealer and was told that there was a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty that applied- that this was a selling feature!!! i could not drive the car for a couple of months while i tried to resolve the issue with kia- but they refused. there was a 2014 recall on the same car, and this car was a 2015, manufactured in 2014. i owed $9,000 on the car!!!! needing a car, i bought a used buick for $2600 to use since it would be cheaper than renting a car, and will sell that car when needed. can't upload the photos and the repairs info at this time.
While driving on the highway and attempting to accelerate, the engine light came on, the car slowed and would not accelerate. within 400 feet, the engine completely stopped and the car would not start again. i had it towed to the mechanic who said the engine 'seized' and would need replacement. there were no prior warnings of problems and the oil was changed regularly.
Between oil changes, the engine on this vehicle burned through / consumed all of the full synthetic oil causing a massive failure with the timing chain and all the tensioners. repair estimate: $2800. i've never had a car that consumed oil like this. it was unpredictable. if i had caught this later, it was have likely caused a more catastrophic failure requiring the replacement of the entire engine or rebuild. the vehicle is under 75,000 miles. had i been the original owner of the vehicle, a 100,000 mile warranty would apply. however, subsequent owners lose 40,000 miles of warranty coverage. my warranty is expired as a result. kia has had other recalls on prior year sorento models, but the 2015 is yet to be recalled as of the writing of this complaint. i hope that changes in the near future.
Sitting at a red light i noticed my check engine light flashing. the light turned green and when i pushed the accelerator i had zero power. it was able to go up to 20mph and i was able to make it up the hill and into my work parking lot. i called kia and luckily was able to get towed to the dealership. they stated its probably an engine misfire, we'll have you up and running in no time. the next day, i called the dealership (bc i didn't hear from them) and was told "were ordering you a new engine". 6 days later i called again because i still haven't a reason as to why.. i was informed the update they did on my computer did something to my engine and thats their only solution. mind you the vehicle only has 41k miles on it! apparently that happens alot to kia's but i wish i knew before i purchased this vehicle! total piece of junk and i don't feel safe. side note: my transmission has always shiftted very hard in the morning (even after a 20min warmup) their looking into that now.
I was driving and was stopped in a turning lane waiting to turn when the car stopped working and wouldn't do anything. i had it towed to a kia dealer and was told the engine had seized. there was no reason for this to have happened on a newer vehicle. i was told there was sludge, much like i am finding a lot of other people with these vehicles were told. it cost me $5700 to have a used engine put in that will likely fail as well, as after researching this is a common problem in these vehicles. there was a recall up to year 2014 for known engine failure and it should be extended to 2015 because the problem is beyond the year 2014 engines.
We went to get oil changed and they said if they change oil the engine will exploed . they said our vehicle had recall on it
Was driving on a busy intersection on 1/15/2019 around 2:30 pm and doing around 40mph the check engine light began flashing. a short while after the cel began flashing the car rpms slowed down even though the car was in motion & i was pressing on the accelerator. the car behind me began honking their horn because my vehicle was slowing down. i tried to find a street where i could safely pull over. after dodging cars while the car was in a slow rpms motion i pulled over to a side street & shifted the gear to park but kept the engine running and tried to calm down. i decided to head home, after shifting from park to drive i stepped on the accelerator and the car was in motion but the rpms only reached 10mph even though i kept my foot on the gas. and slowly but surely the speed increased. the slow acceleration from a park and stop mode the car was slow to accelerate. the state of my component part or system is unknown. googled recalls for 2015 sorento's and found several websites pertaining to a recall on kia sorento's. however after contacting kia (1-800-333-4542) the representative informed me that my 2015 kia sorento was not part of the recall. since my car was only around 50,000 miles she informed me that it's still under warranty. i contacted my local kia dealership (1450 e camelback rd, phoenix, az 85014 602-388-1276) about the issue i am having. the service advisor erik informed me that he would have my car towed to their dealership and check out the issue. stated "it" "should be" covered since i was under 60,000. i'm waiting on what the mechanic finds and if the issue will be covered.
While driving on highway car lost power and cut off, was able to start again and get to dealer maintaining speed roughly 45 mph
The engine began knocking while driving on the highway. this occurred about 2000 miles into the last oil change. the dealership is stating the bearings in the engine are the cause of the failure.
When i turn a corner, my kia sputter to get around the corner. this problem has almost caused me to be in a couple of accidents. i advised the dealer before about this problem and was told, "my car is ok". this is not ok. also, when accelerating, it sounds like the transmission or some other component is slipping. it rpms goes high before decreasing back down to get into next gear. i've expressed this to the dealership as well and was told once they drove my car, "they didn't notice any change". when going up a hill, i have to press all the way down on the gas to get up the hill which causes the rpm to raise and it sounds like it's stuck in a gear or something. these issues needs to be rectified immediately. this is not normal for a car to do this. it frustrates me to tell the dealership what's going on with my car and nothing is being done. i am the one who drives my car everyday and i know when something isn't right. how can a dealership tell you what your saying isn't correct when they don't drive your car everyday? for me to have purchased this car 1 year and 4 months ago with only 2,500 miles on a 2015 kia, i really shouldn't be having these many problems. it almost make me feel like the odometer was rolled back. just my opinion.
We were driving and hear a rattling noice and all of a sudden our vehicle started shaking and we pulled over. this was about 3 hours after we had an oil change at the dealership. this was the second time after an oil change we had issues. we attempted to turn on the car to get it to safety but could not power on. we had to get towed and a mechanic advised us we would need a whole new engine
After kia dealership installed the knock sensor software update in october 2018, the engine went into limp home mode with engine light blinking in the month of january 2019. dealership advised me engine failed and would be replaced under kia warranty for this issue. vehicle has 57,000 miles on it. problem now is dealership says new engine won't be sent to them for 3-4 weeks. then additional week to install. it's already been there over two weeks. they did provide loaner. correction this occurred in december 2018, not january 2019.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia sorento. ever since the contact purchased the vehicle six months ago, there had been an abnormal tapping sound coming from the engine. also, the steering wheel made a loud popping noise that caused it to vibrate. the failures occurred upon starting the vehicle. in addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to friendly kia (5819 us-19, new port richey, fl 34652), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the staff stated that they were too busy to assist. the manufacturer advised the contact to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was 90,600.
