We have classified the 66 complaints from 2014 Kia Sorento about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Doors just started not unlocking or locking with fob or by door panel and the back up alarm beeps non stop as soon as you put it in reverse, all sensors are clean.
Today i was driving to my parents house on a long straight away highway (55mph speed limit). i began passing another vehicle and as soon as i got around him my check engine light, oil light, and battery light came on. i promptly pulled over on the side of the road and shut the car off. i checked oil level, which was fine. no obvious over heating, smoke, or leaks. i decided to turn the car back on to see if the lights were still there but the car wouldn't start. it was completely dead aside from one tiny crank noise then nothing. luckily someone stopped and we got the car started by jumping it. went to the local parts store and my battery, starter, and alternator all checked out ok. no further lights or issues the rest of the day. not sure what happened but i'm scared to drive it long distance now. never had an issue with this car before this.
My headlights continue to blow out every few weeks, no matter what kind of bulb i use. last night while on a very dark and rainy road, both headlights went out forcing me to drive with my hazards with my children in the car. very dangerous. apparently, this isn't an isolated incident.
Engine seized with no warning. complete engine failure. we have maintained the vehicle and have had no prior issues. the engine seized at 90,000 miles driving down the road. the check engine light never came on. we have the 100,000 mile warranty and kia has not covered the repairs to the engine. we were advised we need a new engine.
Door locks only lock and unlock occasionly. batteries replaced in fobs still not operating properly. read that slot of people have or had the same issue. doors would typically lock when you drive. use to not anymore. had car in for recall on engine this year.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 kia sorento. while driving various speeds, several electrical features failed to work when activated, including the headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and the fuel tank button. the contact also stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator constantly illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. the failure mileage was unknown.
Power ports keep blowing fuses, rear hatch quit opening, engine surging, speedometer bouncing, temperature gauge sometimes bounces, white cloud of exhaust sometimes, a/c don't blow cold even when charged
There is an apparent issue with the steering column causing the airbag to not function. it is also causing all of the control switches on the steering wheel to not function properly, including the cruise control. it came on when set but then wouldn't go off using the cancel button. this is a huge safety concern. the estimated cost for repair is $1700.
On several occasion's the engine would just cut out altogether while driving. a couple of times i have even smelled fuel.
Takata recall my 2014 kia sorento suv awd engine it ried to stalled in the middle of the highway on me as i was driving on the highway at 65 mph at the exit it stopped at the light. even though i took my kia in the dealership to have a software updated (ksda) in the begining of this year 2019. i was all most in a car crash from this. becasue cars on the highway were coming my way to get off i was so scared. i called kia dealership. i was told that my truck was not on the recall list. i knew it was becasue my truck had all the symptoms. i was told to drive it to the dealership even through i express my concern that it was something wrong with the engine i was still told to drive the truck in. the person on the phone did not even care i could have been in a really bad accident as cars were drving 65mph. so i asked my husband to take it in. he did. kia said that they will look at it and let me know by the end ...
Backup camera stopped working and trunk will not open with when you hit the handle
Power locks do not work properly. doors do not lock and this occurs variably. this is a safety concern as doors do not lock and i have small children. kia dealership states there are no recalls although multiple consumers report similar issues.
Exterior lighting safety issue! last night as i was driving my low beam head lamps stopped working. the led lights above the head lamps work fine, my running lower lights and my high beams all work properly. just my low beams no longer come on. had to drive with hazards on. they do not come on after trying multiple times to restart car and turning them on both while driving and while being parked. such a dangerous situation. i have read many complaints about the same issues happening! how do i fix this? i cannot believe kia has not made this a recall yet for obvious safety issues - absolutely baffling
In november of 2018 my key fob stopped working effectively. the fob will only open the front driver side door. i contacted crain kia in fort smith and spoke to tim in the service department who stated the problem could be something as simple as changing the battery in the fob. after changing the battery in the fob, the fob still would not open the passenger door or the doors in the back seat. i noticed something was wrong when the driving and the locks would click on and off as if i were using the fob. even when stationary the lock would do this. on february 27,2019 my husband took the vehicle to the service department at 7:30 am and was told this would take 2 hours. at 3:00 pm the service department has not called. my husband called and was told by tim that they were unable to fix this issue yet was charged $131.70 !!!i feel that this has been a terrible injustice. surely the mechanics knew that this was not an isolated defect from the very beginning
This vehicle has a parasitic drain issue that kia is aware of on this model. the issue was addressed for all lx, ex, limited, and sx of this vehicle except for the sxl. i have the sxl version and was told by kia it did not meet the vin requirements even though it meets the born on date and has the same issues as the others. i have had my vehicle tested by a kia master tech and it does have a parasitic drain (battery dead after vehicle sits for 48 hours) from the same drivers door switch addressed in tsb ele-069. i believe that kia has overlooked the sxl models in their recalls as my vehicle is a 2014 and has only had the sa-163a update performed (also the only one listed for my vin) and my vehicle has many of the same issues as the others have. kia addressed the issue at hand on all the others, lx, limited, ex, and sx, with nhtsa id 10109757 and kia tsb ele-069, ele-057, and sa-163. i would like to have the sxl vehicles looked into as i believe they are not getting the required tsb's addressed properly.
