My car was parked in my driveway, not running, no key in the ignition, and had not been driven since the previous day. one of the kids went outside to play and came running back in to tell us the car was smoking. there was smoking coming out from under the hood. my boyfriend quickly got to it and got the battery out and found the source and unplugged the electrical stability control module ( i believe is what he called it) either way, the plug and wires were fried. the dealership stated that had we not seen this it would have caught fire. i called the kia corporate number and they told me sorry but its an out of pocket expense, my car is not under warranty and there are no recalls. this is not the first 07 kia sedona to have this issue based on the research i have done. and had we been sleeping when this happened my house could have caught fire. had there been children in this at the time they could have been injured.
The rear view camera setting engages whenever the car is put into reverse. the driver comes to rely on the backup camera. several times the backup camera fails to turn on and can not be manually turned on. i feel that there is a correlation between turning the car on and putting it into reverse quickly however i can not reproduce this at will. this has happened 10+ times. i have also noticed on some but not all occasions that after reversing, when i put the car in drive, suddenly the backup camera does engage although i'm now driving forward. i'm concerned that people who have been accustomed to using the backup camera will get in a crash or run into a person when the backup camera intermittently fails.
Images on the backup camera is intermittently very difficult to see. this is easy to reproduce when backing out of a covered garage into sunlight. while the entire car is in the shade the image is clear, however as soon as the camera on the back of the car hits the sun, the image becomes very difficult to see. it is "blown out" and very white. as soon as the front of the car where the light sensor is hits the sunlight the backup image adjusts and is clear and effective. the system needs a light sensor where the camera is located in order to adjust the light settings to match the camera's environment. this is dangerous in that the camera is initially working and then suddenly becomes unusable while the driver may be relying on it. this could result in a crash or injury as the driver backs up while relying on the backup camera system. this is fairly easy to reproduce consistently.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 kia sedona. the contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle failed to start. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the contact stated that previously the battery, starter, and starter relay were replaced however, the failure persisted. the contact stated that on four separate occasions the fuse panel, the alternator, and ignition were inspected however, the mechanics were unable to provide a prognosis for the failure. mastria kia located at 1555 new state hwy, raynham, ma 02767, (508) 802-6800, was contacted by phone and informed of the failure. the contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed however, there was no guarantees as to whether or not the mechanic would be able to retrieve information as to the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 127,000.
Front passenger seat occupant light does not go out now with adult on seat.followed steps in owners manual, didnt reset so no front pass, airbag
Intermittent no start no crank issue. the research i've done shows it is a faulty junction box due to antitheft system not working correctly.
Vehicle keeps losing all power while driving. this last time it happened when i was turning onto a busy street! the first time the mechanic replaced the alternator. that lasted 3 days. the mechanic thought it was a defective part so he replaced it. that lasted another three days until we lost all power again. this time the mechanic did some more research and replaced the instrument cluster along with a third alternator. the van ran for two days this time. as of writing this my vehicle has been in the shop for two weeks. the mechanic has told me that with the research he has done, this is a common issue with kia and nobody seems to have a solid answer as to what to do to fix the problem. i was told that some vehicles are fine for weeks others for months and then the van dies without warning. please help! i need a reliable vehicle. thank you. also, when i say the vehicle loses power i mean all power, no lights, no instrument panel, no gauges, no idiot lights, no windows, no shifting of tranny. it will go 2 or 3 mph down the road. ...
Parked on street, went to start vehicle and the vehicle would not start. had passenger look underneath after testing battery charge and other electrical function. tried to start again. the starter was throwing sparks. found out the starter was bad. have a new part on order at a pricetag of $220 with 94,000 miles on the vehicle.
I have needed to have the sliding passenger door motors replaced (once in 2018, currently working on it a second time 2019) as the doors would not fully latch. they would close into position in the front latch but would not pull completely shut in the back part of the door. once the door is pushed shut, it stays shut, but you need to push it to close it. i have a video but i cannot upload it.
On my cruise control when i set to certain speed, it will speed up, i had it set to 65 mph and it sped up by itself to 85 before i could get it to go off. i had to slam on the break to get it to go off. this has happened several times. now the car will not start all the lights will come on, but car will not do anything. checked fuses all good, ground wire was taken loose and paint grinder off and put back on, still won't start. it started not starting every now and then and now it won't start at all. i read where this is happening to several kia specifically 2006 .
