Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal noise coming from the engine. there was no warning lights illuminated. the contact stated that the sound was more prevalent while the vehicle was stopped with the gear shifter in the park position. the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. a dealer was not contacted however, the manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
I own a 2015 jeep wrangler. in mid-2019 i noticed the heating system was not operating well. for example, when i turned the heat on, it would intermittently send warm and then cool air out of the blowers. one 38 degree day, it sent out no heat at all. in october 2019, the anti-freeze fluid level was low and it was filled. in dec 2019, the entire reserve tank was empty. no fluid was visible in the radiator when the radiator cap was removed. i have observed when the car has been driven for 3-5 miles and then turned off, there is a slight odor of anti-freeze. it appears my vehicle may have a defective heater core.
Oil filter housing has cracked and leaking oil. appears to be widespread problem.
Faulty oil cooling housing, oil is leaking from there
At approximately 12k miles i noticed that when the vehicle was started and moved from the street to the driveway and turned off before it could reach normal operating temperature, upon restart, there would be a puff of blue smoke from the exhaust. the dealership investigated and said that they could not duplicate the issue. at 20,500 miles the vehicle was running poorly and the check engine light came on. the dealership said a fuel injector had gone bad and they also found 3 bad engine rocker arms. the rocker arms were replaced under warranty. incidentally, the issue with the blue smoke from the exhaust disappeared. at 28,000 miles the engine was beginning to develop an audible ticking noise. the dealership investigated and this time replaced 4 bad rocker arms. at least 1 of the rocker arms was the same one (#1 intake) that had been replaced during the prior servicing.
Purchased 6/26/19 w/ 49k mi; tapping noise develops at 54k; personal, highly qualified/experience mechanic referred me to dealer - tap was engine issue. on 10/14/19 dealer replaced lifters/cams/rockers (warranty until 10/20/19). not normal on vehicle w/ only 55k. dealer aware of cylinder misfires on jks but did no diagnostic test to determine why lifters/cams/rockers failed; did not perform inspection. ten days later, cel with po302 (#2 misfire). replaced plugs; coil code did not clear. return to dealer who stated work was not related to previous work they just completed and acknowledged misfire is a common problem they routinely in wranglers they service. dealer also stated the 2011-2013 tsb extended warranty also applied beyond those model years to other engines from specific production runs but would not provide info. filed complaint with jeep cust care who said same - not under warranty, referred me back to dealer. not asking jeep to repair engine with excessive mileage or wear - i am asking jeep to extend same coverage as 2011-2013 because jeep has not corrected the problem. no engine with 55k miles should need the extent of engine work i've had done with low mileage. there are numerous documented complaints of misfire for wrangler and class action suit filed for pentastar engine defects.
Vehicle shuts down completely. the interior still has power but the power steering and engine stops. it restarts but act like it is not getting any fuel. it runs fine after it is cranked until the next time it happens. it is very dangerous as
My jeep caught fire from the dash, reasons unknown. insurance is investigating and fire dept put cause as unknown. jeep is a total loss and my husband barely made it out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. he was driving from school to home and about a mile from home on the highway about to exit.*dt consumer stated as he was trying to shift into neutral and pull the e-brake, he was burnt on his hand and a little on his legs by the time he jumped out. on the day of the incident, my husband drove approximately 5-6 miles to class (as he is in a technical school right now) around 6:30 am. as he was coming home, it started smoking about half way up the on ramp heading in the direction to the exit to our home, my husband said right before it started smoking it almost sound like that blower motor was making a strange noise, and he was headed home to look at it, but the noise quit right before it started smoking. he did his best to get it out of traffic, but as i stated, with it being a soft top, it went up in flames rather quick. the vehicle was serviced every 4,000-5,000 miles. my husband has a motorcycle, so the time spent in the jeep was mainly in cooler weather or when it was raining/overcast. there were not issue leading up to the fire. we had taken it on short trips - longest distance was like 100 miles round trip, but hadn't done that in awhile. the vehicle was a total loss, state farm totaled the vehicle, we have not had possession of the jeep since it was towed from the side of the road by whoever the fire dept called (allied towing). after that insurance had it towed to a location of their own. i believe my husband only had a sub woofer in the jeep, you can see it in the back in some of the pictures. i believe at some point the stereo was changed but that was before we owned it and it was in our possession for almost 1 year prior to the fire. i have no contacted the fca, i wasn't sure who to reach out to for this issue.*jb
Tl* the contact owned a 2015 jeep wrangler. while driving 25 mph, all the instrument panel gauges illuminated and the brake pedal felt soft. the vehicle slowed down and the contact smelled smoke. the vehicle caught fire on the driver's side of the engine compartment. the contact pulled the vehicle over, opened the door, and the fire spread. the contact had to quickly exit the vehicle. a police report was filed and the fire department extinguished the fire. there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and deemed destroyed by the contact's insurance company. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the cause of the failures was unknown. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 59,000.
Saturday morning at approximately 10:45 a.m. driving 4.9 miles to destination i asked as we were approaching parking "do you smell smoke?" i hit the breaks but there was no breaks. and then a combustion of flames came from wheel wells and hood of jeep. we all jumped out and called 911 and tried to put fire of jeep out with extinguishers. with no success. fire department put fire out.
Radiator leaking coolant on driver side tank. i've smelled coolant since new but never seen a leak until warranty was expired. i currently have less than 30,000mi contacted dealer and was told simply no warranty. reading about this problem online seems to be a common issue.
Significant oil leaking from oil coolant housing on the engine. engine started smoking thought it was on fire. shut off car imediately and sent car to dealership
Cracked and leaking oil cooler housing
Intermittent stalling has occurred 4 times while the vehicle was in motion driving straight. 3 times occurred on city streets and 1 of the 4 times was while merging into traffic on an interstate at interstate speeds. the vehicle restarted 3 times after stopping and placing the vehicle into park and cranking for about 5-10 seconds. the last time, the vehicle would not restart immediately and took around 2 hours to restart. there was no warning prior to each time, no stuttering, rough idle, acceleration, decelerations, etc. the dealership service department said diagnostic trouble code reported crankshaft position sensor failure, but testing could find no issues each time. service manager requested that the vehicle be left indefinitely for them to test drive until the condition could be witnessed by technician.
Drove 1018 miles jeep was running fine. stopped at a hotel to check in. when i went back out to start it, the check engine light came on and stayed on and was a solid light (no blinking). drove it thanksgiving day and took it to a dealer on friday with the code p0304. mechanic tells me that it needs a new cylinder head and is not safe to drive back home 1018 miles. i learned later that this is a known issue and jeep issued a lifetime warranty covering up to 2013. after much research and reading, the issue still continues through the 2016 models. i called jeep to ask for some assistance since i am 1018 miles from home and having to stay in a hotel for 10 days with no loaner or rental car and the repairs are estimated at $4850 (the cost at home in texas would have been $2600) and chrysler said no! this is a known issue and continues to he a known issue. chrysler jeep should be fixing the problem or extending the lifetime warranty for this issue.
My 2015 jeep wrangler with less than 36,000 miles (current mileage is 31,000) developed a hole in the upper right (facing the vehicle) on the radiator. only factory authorized antifreeze was in the cooling system. in fact, the coolant had never been touched since purchasing it new april 17th, 2015. this past fall i knew i had a leak and took it to the dealer. they said it was leaking oil around my oil filter and ended up charging me $46.00 for an oil change; however, the mechanic (pete) could not explain the leak. i felt the fluid on my garage floor with my fingers and honestly thought is was part oil and antifreeze. now, on wednesday december 26, 2018 they are going to replace the radiator and the dealer's estimate was approximately $800.00 dollars. in short, no radiator should blow a hole in the sidewall of the radiator with so few miles and time.
While checking my fluid levels, i noticed oil in the vicinity of my oil filter and in the valley. with little search, it was apparent, i had a poorly designed oil filter/cooler adapter. took it to the dealership and again, to my surprise, they did not honor the manufactures warranty but of course charged me 160 bucks to tell me what i originally told them. i then asked if they had the part available, guess what they said?? of course, they don't have any due to national backorder. mind you, my jeep has only been dealership touched and at 35000 miles, this should not be an issue. i am forced to drive my other vehicle due to fear of my engine bay igniting, as you and i both know it has sadly happened to many others.
Noticed smell of coolant when vehicle was parked. i was not able to locate the leak. there were no puddles of coolant or detectable drips. took vehicle to the dealer. i was told radiator needed to be replaced and would not be covered under warranty. vehicle has @ 26,000 miles. 3 year warranty expiered 5 months ago. vehicle has been dealer maintained since purchased new. contacted jeep customer service to request assistance. i was told sorry can't help warranty has expired. there are no indications of abuse or outside damage to radiator. radiator failure is an obvious manufacturing defect.
While driving down our jeep wrangler down the highway my husband stopped at a red light and said he heard something hissing then he saw flames coming from under the hood. at that point the jeep would not steer or anything so he shut it off and my husband and son got out of the jeep. moments later the entire front end of the keep was engulfed in flames.
Oil filter adapter/oil cooler
Radiator reservoir was found to be low at around 9,000 miles during first oil change. along, with a slight smell of antifreeze when the vehicle was warm. the reservoir was top off with no signs of leaks from reservoir and smell was thought to be coming from reservoir. both issues continued with no signs of visible leaks upon inspection of coolant system. so issues was thought to taken till reservoir was found low again at around 36,000 miles still no signs of leaks, and reservoir was top off. continued to monitor with no signs of leaks until the smell of antifreeze began to get stronger and more frequent when vehicle was warm. after internet search, reading about people with similar issues the problem was found. on, engine side of radiator behind fan along the end cap there was noticable signs of leak. radiator was replaced. fca informed.
Smell of antifreeze
I was driving on the 91 freeway eastbound in california. somebody wave me to stop. the car got on fire while driving. as soon as we got out we saw the flames, it got on fire so bad that only the fire department was able to extinguish it. some truck drivers tried to extinguish but they couldn't. it only had 24000 miles on it because i only use it on the weekends. i took really good care of it. needless to say it was the scariest and saddest moment of my life. i'm still wondering what happened
2015 wrangler sahara engine fire i have just purchased 10 days ago a certified 2015 wrangler sahara certified pre owned from avondale dodge in phoenix az. it was a gorgeous hardtop grey, with 30" tires, mags and an led light bar. i had been looking for 3 months and finally found my dream wrangler. still with a temp plate and one tank of gas in it the engine caught fire sitting idle at my work. i had literally drove from the dealer how it happened. i had gone for lunch with co workers and parked in covered parking at my office in phoenix. there was no foul smells and the vehicles performance was normal. i was notified by the facilities managers 2 hours later while in a meeting that fellow employees saw it smoldering through the grill and phoned the fire department. when i got outside the engine compartment was completely charred. *bf *js
Oil leak from top of engine. appears to be from oil fill adapter or from inside the lifter valley. i smell oil, i'm concerned that it could catch fire? the vehicle only has 34,000 miles on it.
Vehicle engine shuts down unexpectedly at highway and low speeds. difficult to restart. difficult to put in gear. vehicle was in motion when engine shut down.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning numerous times while driving various speeds. the vehicle was taken to ferman chrysler jeep dodge ram in port richey, florida 34652, phone: 727-847-5555 several times for diagnostic testing. the computer system, radio module, throttle body, and fuel coil packs were replaced, but the failure recurred. the vehicle continued to stall. the manufacturer was notified. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
2015 wrangler jku sporadic stalling on both highway and residential streets. was recently serviced for oil change and software update. also stalled while jeep was idol for 20 minutes but able to restart it. when it stalled...instrument panel lights up and jeep stalls. can restart in hour with check engine light. dealer not able to reproduce stalling after testing for 10 miles. this has happened 3 times. dropped off at dealer again this morning.
The vehicle caught fire in the engine compartment and was totally destroyed. it was parked in a parking lot and had not been driven for over 24 hours. it had approximately 2500 miles on the odometer. the vehicle had not been modified from factory condition. this vehicle is leased
Oil filter housing. dealerships are not replacing this faulty housing unless it's made a nationwide recall. this is a problem for quite a few chrylsers - jeeps. please look into the 2014 & 2015 oil filter housing cracks and dealers will not fix if not under warranty and if they have not changed oil.
I am having difficulties with my brand new purchased jeep wrangler and it has been in and out of the dealership since september with no resolution. this jeep is 19 months old and we bought it brand new from sahara jeep. despite the fact that it does run the engine suddenly chooses to lose power while i'm driving and accelerating or decelerating is not an option. not really safe especially when my daily commute to and from work is over 20 miles one way on highway speeds. the engine has stopped about 6 times and two times of those has been on highway speeds which is not a safe place. i have been lucky that when it happened that i have not been rear ended or even worse have caused any accidents. i have continuously brought the vehicle back to chapman and they are unable to find any issues and then now the vehicle is at sahara and i am getting the same answers. although error lights have come on and i have given the dealerships those they are still unable to diagnose what is making the vehicle engine suddenly stop.diagnostic testing keeps coming up negative. i was given a flight recorder to attach to my jeep to help assess the issue. the vehicle died and i was able to successfully run codes through their recorder (supplied by jeep) and had the vehicle back at the dealership the next day. i was told that their computers were down and unable to read the codes but they did capture something but had forwarded it onto corporate to read. a couple days later with no update i contacted corporate and was told that they were unable to read the codes because their system was also down and i would have to do it all over again. *tr
I keep getting a stability control light and that causes the ecb light too pop and then i have no steering wheel controls. this all started after i tried to superchip my 2015 jeep wrangler. sense then my jeep has been in a local shop for about a month and they have had the brain reflashed and have changed gears for the 4inch lift and much much more. i was driving 65mph when the stability control first tries to take control of the vehicle, talk about scary...anyone out there have this or similar issues, please help.

Engine problems: starting summer 2015 engine shuts off while driving, accelerating, slowing down, stopped engine will not go back into gear engine loses power when accelerating or cruising brought into dealership (purchase location) approximately august 19th 2015 released september 2nd 2015 problems persisted brought into different dealership approximately september 14th 2015 released approximately september 26th problems persisted brought into dealership september 30th 2015 still in custody as of october 8th on september 29th, i was taking an on ramp for an interstate. the ramp is an uphill, hair pin turn that then turns into an off-ramp for oncoming traffic. i have never experienced an issue accelerating and merging into the interstate traffic here. however, this afternoon i was not able to get the acceleration that i expected. when i ran out of ramp room, i would have needed to slow down significantly in order to allow the side by side tractor trailers to go by. however, because of other cars that were behind me on the on-ramp, that was not an option without possibly causing an accident. so i merged with as much power as i could get, which was not enough. the closest tractor trailing came barreling down upon me quickly with horn blaring. on september 30th, just a couple miles away from the dealership, i was the first in line at a red light. the jeep shut off. i could not get it back into gear. it just remained in neutral no matter which gear i tried to put it in. i shifted in and out of park and other gears turned the vehicle off and back on many times. a few times drive would engage but then the engine would shut off again after a few feet. i finally got it into gear and accelerated quickly hoping to cover a greater distance and it worked. i was able to finish my trip to the dealership.
I was driving at highway speed when the check engine light was activated. the automatic transmission was not shifting properly, and did not seem to downshift after slowing down to proceed through toll booth. when i attempted to accelerate after paying the toll, the engine began to slowly accelerate as if it was in fourth or fifth gear. shortly thereafter, the oil light began to turn on and off intermittently. i made it to a chrysler/jeep dealer and found a puddle of oil under my car and there was no oil registering on the dipstick. after the jeep service department eventually looked at my car, i found out there was a cracked oil filter adapter that had to be replaced. after doing some research, i learned that this was not an uncommon problem in jeeps. i imagine that i was fortunate that the engine did not seize or catch fire, which obviously has the potential to cause serious harm.
Between the dates of 3/20 and 8/1 my 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited (4dr, 4x4) has been experiencing intermittent cel p0340 while pulling a grade. when the cel occur the vehicle loses significant power and is unable to maintain speed. the traction control system lights come on indicating an error. during this time the vehicle will not accelerate to a safe speed and the traction control systems are not functioning. the vehicle will return to normal operation after turning the key to off then back on. if this is done while moving intermittently the car's security system will engage and the vehicle will not start back up. i have had the vehicle for warranty repair 5 times with this issue. each time the problem is said to be resolved, but occurs almost immediately.
I bought the jeep april 4, 2015. on july 19, 2015 i parked my car in the driveway and 3 hours later at 5:30 my dog work me up and i look outside and the whole front end of the jeep was in flames. we were able to get the fire out but it was a total loss.
6-speed manual: while stopped at lights, crossing intersections, and normal driving on roads, day/night and warm/cold, engine stops for 2-10 seconds. it has stopped when passing other vehicles requiring full break application to avoid oncoming traffic. in intersections and when the clutch was pushed in to help coast through intersection, there was no power steering to help turn the wheels! the dealerships insist that there is no problem and engine could not cut out while driving? this engine problem has occurred at least 30-40 times.
Engine light comes on and remains on until dealer resets it. code indicates that cylinder #6 misfire. since jun 20 2015 and up to 4 jan 2016 the vehicle has been in the shop 7 times. town time has already reached 24 days. so far they have replaced the cylinder head, removed the head a second time, updated software, and replaced the cam shafts, plus a number of other things. the star team at chrysler/jepp has been involved with no success. first time the light came on and remained on was 18 may 15.
Vehicle was purchased new on april 16, 2015. my wife drove 8 miles to school and then 6 miles to her aunt's house. when she parked she noticed car was smoking and the car caught fire seconds later. fire consumed the front end of jeep before fire department could get here. the fire started under the hood on the right side. *tr
Check engine light flashes when going uphill. dealer claims to be unable to read the code if engine light does not stay on. has been in for service 4 times for same issue. once, dealer replaced a single engine coil after reading a p300 misfire code. engine loses power and freeway speed becomes impossible to maintain for several minutes even after cresting hill and driving on level surface. *tr
