Every time i fill up the fuel tank leaks during normal driving condition and especially while making turns or if parked it will leak in the parking spot as the day gets warmer. there is also a very strong fuel smell during this times and very noticeable by everyone in the jeep or around it.
Fuel spills out of fuel tankl filling port after fuel dispensing equipment automatically stops. fuel dispensing pump safety feathers incompatible with jeep gas tank fuel filling design.this presents dangerous conditions and environmental concern with every fuel fill up regardless of gas station ran or equipment. it's almost as if fuel vilume greatly increases after gas dispenser stops fueling. more then a quarter gallon of fuel is spilled on my vehicle all over it every time i fill my vihicle, hot breaking system components and exhaust components coming in contact with liquid fuel,.forums and internet searches reflect that this problem exists on all vehicles with this fuel system design.situation captured in this video: https://youtu.be/zouvokeolo8
Gasoline overfills/overflows when filling the tank.
When ever i fill up the fuel tank it over flows or spits up gas, after the gas pump shuts off
Every time i fill tank, it overflows. i have to stand by it and listen to hear when getting close to full, so i can manually stop it or it gushes all over every time. fed up, its dangerous with gas all over the jeep and ground. many different gas stations, many different states, all the same.
When using a gas pump to auto-fill the tank, the pump shuts off and the tank overflows some of the fuel onto the paint on the outside of the jeep. doesn't matter what gas station i go to, the style of nozzle, or the angle the nozzle is used at. it over fills every time.
I just bought the jeep about 3 weeks ago. i took it to the gas station and walked away to clean the windows while it was filling up. i look over and gas is spewing out all over the place. i thought it was a bad gas pump. on the next fill up, it did it again. i looked on google and i find that chrysler knows about this and has not done a recall on this. on some of their other vehicles but not this one. i am hoping that not only can you get chrysler to fix mine, but force to to do a recall before someone is killed.
When fueling the vehicle and you reach the full point it does not stop the pump. instead it shoots fuel everywhere including on the person fueling the vehicle. at first i though it was the pump being used but this actually happens every time you fill it up.
Everyime this vehicle is fueled full at the gas pump, it will not shut off when the tank is full. this results in an overflow of gasoline, everywhere...on my hands, down the side of my vehicle and puddles on the ground. there is no warning and the only way i am able to fill the tank is by turning the engine on and watching the mileage increase on the distance to empty (dte) display on my dash.... which is not safe to do. it occurs everytime i fill up my jeep. there is no recall to fix this issue. it's been an issue since i purchased my jeep in march 2010.
When fueling the vehicle, the gas pump handle constantly shuts off! it takes an extremely long time to put fuel into the vehicle.
This vehicle frequently experiences fuel "spit-back" on filling. it was manufactured in 10/06, five months before the date in jeep's lifetime fuel tank replacement extended guaranty for spit-back. also, the tank began leaking after every fill up. it leaked on the ground and/or with gas fumes present until the tank level got below 1/2 tank the leak source was where the fuel pump is inserted into the top of tank. the iron clamps and lock ring for the fuel pump are located in a depressed "bowl" at the top of the tank. water accumulates and remains in the bowl causing the lock ring and clamps to rust. the rust expands and cracks the plastic that the fuel pump is made of. the repair requires replacing the fuel tank, lock ring, and fuel pump. in my opinion, this is a design or manufacturing problem and these conditions cause serious environmental and safety problems. i informed jeep (case number 30126422) on 9/15/16 and they declined to do anything. i have spent $1,019.60 on emergency and permanent repairs. photos of the tank as it was removed from the jeep showing "the bowl" and rust, rusted clamps, and cracked fuel pump are attached. please let me know if i can provide any further information.
Strong smell of gas in the garage after shutting jeep off for past 3-4 years. fuel spit issue resolved with warranty 12/2013. gas smell after shutting jeep off continued. 09/2014 dealership pulled code p0456, "vent tube at tank broken." paid to have dealership order and install a new tank only to find the "new tank has crack at rollover valve," had to order a second replacement fuel tank, installed with no problems noted. heavy smell of residual fuel in the garage continued to persist to the point where we have to leave the garage open to vent the fumes for fear of ignition. could not visually identify any fuel leak. all the while have had intermittent check engine lights coming off and on pointing to emissions and fuel system. another trip to the dealership 07/2015, pulled code p0406, stated "couldn't find anything at this time." heavy gas smell continues to get worse. 07/2016 took jeep to mechanic, pulled codes p0456 and p0486, found the fuel tank vent tube was cracked again, needed a new fuel tank and egr valve. back to the dealership. tank is out of warranty, have to replace the 22 month old fuel tank again. the fuel system has had consistent problems from inception. the heavy gas odor and cracked fuel tanks pose a serious life safety and environmental concern. it is only a matter of time before a vehicle and/or a residence catches fire. the continuous exposure to gas vapors alone is serious concern due to the carcinogenic nature of fuel and its vapors. after researching this issue in various jeep forums online, this does not seem to be a singular event and is actually quite common. many jeep enthusiasts are diy'ers and are modifying/jury rigging the vent tube themselves instead of paying for a replacement tank, which means there are a lot of jeeps causing heightened emissions and pose further safety concerns that are going unreported and that you are unaware of.
Pumping gas to fill the tank always overflows. the sensor that tells the pump to shut off doesn't work causing gas to overflow all over the car, myself and the ground. what a waste of pricey gas.
Every time i fill up at the gas pump gas over flows. i'm afraid to fill up anymore while being anywhere near this thing. the gas eritates my skin and eyes. this is so wrong.
Fuel spills during normal refueling situation.
The airbag warning light comes on at random, my horn no longer works. the dealer said that it is due to a faulty clockspring assembly. i got the recall information stating that the clockspring assembly may become contaminated, but my vin is not one that is officially recalled. i would really like this fixed as it is a show vehicle. thank you! (nhtsa campaign id number: 16v290). also, my gas always splashes out all over the side of the vehicle when it's any where near full. it doesn't trigger the gas pump to stop and splashes back at me every time i fill up for gas. please help! *tr
Fuel spills out of the fuel tank fill opening when filling the tank everytime. if you are near the fuel cap you will get sprayed with fuel.
When filling up my jeep wrangler the filler neck spits gasoline back onto the paint of my jeep.
Fuel shoots out when filling gas tank. even after having check valve replaced
Gas tank spit back during fuel filling.
My 2007 jeep wrangler x is having problems with putting gas in the tank. it constantly overflows and spills gas all over the side. i've also seen incidents where gas has bounced out of the tank near the neck of the fuel door. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that fuel fumes emitted in and around the vehicle. after inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed a discoloration of fuel leakage on the ground. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the top of the gas ring was corroded. as a result, the fuel pump and locking ring need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 72,820.
The below link explains thoroughly of the issue and problem in regards to the check valve in the gas tank and the fuel overspill causes: http://www.jeepproblems.com/trends/fuel-overflow/ i do not believe my wrangler had the issue fixed and after checking the chrysler database by vin i do not recall seeing it was a recall nor the check valve/gas tank replaced/fixed.
This is the second request i am now sending. my 2007 jeep wrangler caught on fire while driving through some brush on 10/25/2014 and was a total loss. the fire department that responded concluded that it was caused by the catalytic converter as well as my insurance company. jeep said since i already settled with my insurance company there is nothing they will do. this is the second time i am reporting this incident to you so can someone please get back to me? *tr
Experience very loud and noisy exhaust manifolds, dealer found both intake manifolds to be defective and leaking , warranty repair and replaced both. #2 leak found in power steering, dealer stated leaks in lines, rack , and pump, warranty on all but the lines,#3 also found catalytic converter leak, recommend replacement (again happens to be under warranty) #4 found small hole in intermediate pipe, recommended replacement . #5 looking further dealership found cylinder head to be leaking!!!!!!!!!!!!! and yes, covered under warranty. now i am beginning to wonder about this dealership, as i have never used them before not did i but the jeep from them. .#6 tech stated some wear in all ball joints , recommended replacement . #7 found steering damper to have a leak, recommended replacement, now as anyone can se there seems to be many issues related to my 07 jk. *tr
I have a 4dr 2007 jeep wrangler sahara unlimited. 60k+ miles and no matter what gas station or what position i place the nozzle into the gas port when the tank fills it will shoot gas out all down the side of my jeep onto the ground and on myself. *tr
I bought the jeep in july of 2013. every time i fill the tank the fuel spills out on the ground, me, and the jeep's body. this happens at every station, every time. i have taken to mathematically figuring out the amount of fuel i need to add to the tank at each fill up so it doesn't fill, but if i'm wrong it spills out all over me! *tr
This has now happened several times at several different locations when fueling that the pump will stop and then within seconds afterwards gasoline shoots out all over the vehicle the ground and whomever is pumping the fuel. this is very frustrating and dangerous. *tr
When fueling vehicle, fuel spits back and overflows every time nearing full tank. also sets check engine light p0440. potential fire hazard. *tr
Every time i pump gas now, the pump will stop and then discharge a fairly large amount of gas. probably around a half gallon. i feel that with these discharge of gas being every time i fill up is a safety issue and needs to be looked in to. if there is ever a spark when it discharges it will indefinitely cause a fire that has the likely hood of causing injury or death to me and whoever else is around when it happens. also, i know that it is not only my jeep that is having the problem. my friends jeep does the same thing. he told me that one time the pump did not stop and gas was shooting from his gas tank. *tr
When filling the fuel tank, fuel will overflow out of the filling tube, thus causing several ounces of fuel to spill out. thus coating the side of my jeep as well as the group with highly flammable gasoline. it doesn't seem to matter how fast or slow the tank is filled, it overflows every time. gas also contains aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (btex) these chemicals are harmful to both humans and the environment. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that when driving over a pot hole or any uneven road surface, the front end of the vehicle would shake violently. the failure recurred when the contact was traveling 45 mph or above. the contact would have to stop driving momentarily in order to stop the shaking failure. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the steering shock was replaced, but did not correct the failure. the contact also stated that when the vehicle was filled with gasoline, fuel would spill out of the tank. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 67,000.
When filling the jeep with fuel it overflows instead of "stopping" it in time. fuel flows out all over the side of the jeep and onto the ground. *tr
Every time i fill my 2007 jeep wrangler up at the gas station i get a huge explosion of gas that shoots out of the fueling area toward me when my tank reaches full and the pump clicks off. it is extremely dangerous because it spews at a high rate toward my face. *tr
About one second after the pump shuts off automatically 6 to 8oz of fuel is expelled out of the vehicle running out all over the car and ground. was found to be faulty inlet check valve on wranglers manufactured between 03/01/07 and 03/31/08. my vehicle was manufactured on 11/08/06 but i am experiencing the same problem. jeep refuses to rectify the problem as my manufacture date is out of the specified date range. i believe it should be expanded as i have read about many other jeeps having this same problem. this problem is a dangerous safety concern that should be repaired at the cost of the manufacturer because of a defective part. *tr
The fuel tank overflows every time it is filled. the system does not "click" or automatically shut off gas flow to indicate when tank is full, it simply overflows. i have tested many different gas stations and this issue occurs everytime, causing a dangerous situation for me and those around me, as well as environmental issues.
The fuel tank overflows when filling with gas. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the fuel tank overflowed a quarter of a tank whenever he refueled. the dealer was notified and stated that there were no recalls addressing the failure. the contact was informed that they were extending the warranties on other vehicles, but his vehicle was not included. they offered no other assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000.
While filling it with gas, it overflows and then clicks off after it has spilled enough to reach the ground. maybe 2 cups of gas goes all over the body of the vehicle, and onto the ground. i can hear air pressure sometimes just before it spurts gas, but not soon enough to prevent the spill. this condition happens every time it is filled now. *tt
Bought 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited x in april 2010. 2 months later while filling it up at the gas station the gas came pouring back out. i thought pump was broken actually informed clerk. happened again 3 fill-ups later. around that time started having a shimmy in front end. brought it back to dealer on several occasions. was told they never heard of gas coming back out i must be doing something wrong and the shimmy was "normal" for jeeps. been having major issues with this truck it has been in the shop more than any vehicle i have ever owned. i've only bought used. i've had to have the 02 sensors changed 4 times. i have my tires balanced several times. my tires rotated. alignments, etc. i have also replaced the steering damper. fast forward to 2013. shimmy is so bad i almost took out another driver. thankfully i'm a commercially trained driver otherwise it could have ended badly. still have gas pouring out every fill up. 02 sensors still keep crapping out. head gaskets had to be replaced already. i finally had enough and told dealer they need to fix no more games and i find out about the tsb for the steering damper. then i also have to be told that my main rear oil seal is now leaking and my tranny coolant lines are leaking??? oh and was told that all this was normal for jeeps as well???? really!!!!! the truck only has 66k miles on it. it's all original no lift kits, no off roading, nothing.... this is bull... for the amount of money i paid for this vehicle somebody should be doing something. i find his site and lo and behold... i'm not the only one... unbelievable!!!! *tr
When filling my jeep wrangler jk model x with gasoline, using multiple gas pumps from many different companies, it fills all the way to the top and spills over out of the jeep. this happens every time i fill up. *tr
When filling up with fuel at the gas station, when the tank gets near full, the fuel pump will shut off, but not until fuel spits back out of the fuel fill tube, out onto the outside of the jeep and into the ground. there is a lifetime warranty recall for jeep wranglers for this problem, that starts with vehicles manufactured after march 1, 2007. however, our vehicle was manufactured in november, 2006. *tr
When filling the fuel tank fuel shoots out of dill nozzle. *tr
Fuel splash out of filler hole, apx 1 pint. happens every time i fill up. *tr
Fuel spitback. when filling 2007, jeep, wrangler it always spits back out of the filler when using automatic fill on handle of gas pump. if i hand fill it and listen very carefully i can hear the fuel rising in the filler neck an stop the splashback about half of the time.
