We have classified the 106 complaints from 2007 Jeep Liberty about FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE into the following categories.
I own a 2007 jeep liberty and have a consistent problem with gas pumps not shutting off at any of the stations where i have purchased gas. this issue started a few months ago and at first i just assumed it was related to a particular pump, but have found that it overflows no matter where i purchase gas. i believe that this is a serious danger and certainly an environmental issue especially when such efforts are made to even control vapor emissions on modern vehicles. i have contacted chrysler but they said that there is nothing they can do about it. i have done some research online and found this to be a very common problem with jeeps. i'm concerned about the environmental issue, but am more anxious about the safety issue this causes. it's bad enough to ruin clothing, but i hate to think about other worse scenarios such as a fire or having gas sprayed in someone's face. i believe that it should be covered as part of an emissions and customer safety related service campaign, but chrysler disagrees with me. *tr
When refueling our 2007 jeep liberty, fuel overflows after fuel pump automatic shutoff is triggered. this overflow now occurs every time vehicle is refueled. no one is attempting to "top off" the fuel tank. the overflow causes a quantity of fuel, which i estimate at two to four cups, to spill on the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. this fuel overflow flaw creates an extreme fire hazard and environmental contamination risk. this flaw occurs in the wrangler model of chrysler jeep products also, where a recall has been issued. the same flaw is occurring in many thousands of jeep liberty's as is evident by the huge volume of owner statements posted on many websites. this was an occasional problem that has now become consistent. it is impossible to predict and without a recall notice, consumers are unaware of this hazard. this flaw creates a safety hazard for the person refueling the vehicle and anyone nearby (specifically my children who are often with me when fueling our jeep). the fuel spilled has caused property damage in the form of ruined clothing and shoes, and possibly damage to the vehicle as fuel runs down the side into crevices around the rear wheel and axle. why would the manufacturer cover this flaw under warranty for one make and model, the jeep wrangler, and not cover the identical problem for another make and model, the jeep liberty? it's the same problem created by the same manufacturer. *tr
2007 jeep liberty gas began overflowing after gas tank fill up and pump auto shut off. the gas flies out. it happens every time now. it doesn't matter how far the nozzle is in or which gas station. *tr
This is a fuel overflow issue. when i am fueling the jeep as the tank gets full and the gas pump clicks off, fuel spills out of filler tube onto side of vehicle and the ground. this seems like a safety problem with raw gas all over the ground. when the jeep was new this didn't happen, now it happens every time i fill the tank up. *tr
My jeep liberty jerks between 35-55 mph and 1400-1500 rpms. this has caused the car to slip and slid on icy roads. i first noticed it with only 200 miles on the car. it has been into the shop 7 times for this problem. they have reprogrammed the computer, replaced the fuel pump and the problem is still there. chrylser said this is normal. i have another jeep and it does not do this. this is becoming a dangerous problem with the icy conditions where i live. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the while refueling to capacity, the cap would not shut off the fuel, causing fuel to leak onto the ground. the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and assisted the contact with repairs to the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 88,000.
The 2007 jeep liberty sport my parents and 3 year old child were in was t-boned on the passenger side by another car that was traveling at approx. 45 mph upon impact, resulting in the jeep rolling over several times. the other car struck the jeep directly in the middle, causing the middle section to cave in, forcing the passenger seat into the dash/glove compartment. the rear axle on the passenger side separated from the frame, the drive-train separated, the gas tank ruptured, and the rear shock springs came off. the person seated in the front pass. seat sustained a spinal fracture and brain hemorrhaging. the driver sustained internal bruising/damage from hitting the steering wheel, ultimately breaking the steering column. all occupants were wearing their seat belts. *tr
