I was driving back to salisbury, md from washington dc when i heard wind coming into my jeep. i checked all my windows in be sure they were up but the noise continued. when i visually checked the windows i found the driver side rear window all the way down. i pulled over to check it and found that the window would not roll back up electrically. i had to drive 3 hours with the back driver's side window down. i had this window repaired for the same thing 2 years ago and now again. just this year in april i had to spend money to fix the driver side window due to the same problems. and each time it was the regulator and only once did jeep refund me my money. the other problems is the gas. when the jeep is full it doesn't cut off, the gas spills all down the side of the car regardless. *tr

Received recall notice n46 in june 2013. the recall is to remedy faulty exposure of the fuel tank by installing a towing hitch to the vehicle. to date, one year and one month later, after numerous contacts to the local jeep dealership, miller's chrysler dodge jeep ram, 48 kelly island rd, martinsburg, wv, 25401, the recalled part has yet to be installed. this is an unacceptable amount of time to await a recall for a problem that could result in explosion of the fuel tank upon impact, and feel chrysler jeep should be held to a higher accountability and more timely resolution to this problem. thank you. *tr

There has been a recall on my vehicle (n46 / nhtsa 13v-252) since at least june of 2013 with chrysler agreeing to install a new part to correct / protect against the problem. i have contacted my dealer on numerous occasions and have been told that no corrective part is yet available and they don't know when it will be. within the last 2 months i did finally receive a standard letter from chrysler notifying me of this "important safety recall" saying they were making "all reasonable efforts to obtain the (corrective) parts as quickly as possible." they gave no date as to when they would be available. again on 6/23/2014 i took my jeep in for service and requested they make the promised correction. the service department said they could not, they did not have the part, and had no idea when they would be able to correct my vehicles problem. i find this totally unacceptable. it has been over a year now, at least, since this recall was issued and my vehicle still has not been repaired and chrysler cannot even tell me when they might be able to make the repair. *tr

Jeep sent a voluntary recall letter in april of 2013 about the fuel tank possibly erupting during a rear end crash. i have contacted the dealer several times and they still have no parts for this recall (15 months later). the very last sentence says,".....we are extremely concerned about your safety." apparently, jeep (chrysler) is not real concerned. how many people need to die before someone makes them do the right thing? *tr

This is common problem with the liberty, basically the fuel overflows from the tank neck when filling it at the gas station. visit www.jeepforum.com to see other users with the same problem. *tr

I bought the jeep from a friend last fall and this problem didn't exist until about 4 months after i had it. i always fill my tank when i stop for fuel and the first time this happened, while the tank was filling, i washed the windows. when it was almost full (i could tell by the amount on the pump), i grabbed the nozzle and got ready to squeeze the last bit in by hand after it shut off. well, it didn't shut off and gas came pouring out, all over the vehicle, splashing my clothes and shoes! i thought it was an issue with the pump, so i brought it to the attendants attention & washed the side of the jeep off. next time i went to a different station & the same thing happened, so i didn't 'set' the pump handle anymore....i held it myself and put my ear close so i could hear when it was almost full. most of the time it worked, but it still came spewing out other times. the other night while having dinner with friends, one of the gals that works at dmv, who also has a liberty, told me about the recalls on my model jeep. i called my local dealership and he proceeded to tell me that the one had already been taken care of the month before i picked it up and the gas tank issue didn't apply to my model! are you kidding me???? i just finished telling him that it spews gas out every time i fill up if i'm not extremely careful with how full it gets! i can't tell you how much money i've lost from this issue 'that doesn't apply to my model'!!! not to mention the damage i'm sure it's doing to the finish (even though i try to get it all off)! not a happy camper and don't know that i'll ever buy another jeep if this is the way they handle dangerous issues! *tr

Gas spills out every time it is filled up-not just a dribble but probably a cup full. *tr

Beginning at approximately 35,000 miles on the vehicle, fuel would spit-back immediately after the fuel nozzle shut off. the amount of fuel spit back was significant, drenching the lower half of the person fueling the vehicle. at first, we thought this might be an issue with the fueling pump, but found it repeated itself at every pump and at every station we utilized. it does not seem to depend on rate of fueling, as even attempting to fuel slowly results in a dangerous spit back of fuel and potential drenching of the individual. the vehicle was inspected by the dealer and a defective valve in the fuel tank was diagnosed as the cause of the problem. interestingly, after reporting the labor charge of $200 to investigate the issue, we were told that they have seen a number of jeeps with this problem. one would think common problems could be found without this level of labor. the valve in question cannot be obtained as an individual unit and the entire fuel tank must be replaced at the cost of approximately $900. given that numerous other chrysler vehicles of this year, including wrangler, dodge durango, liberty, and other models across the chrysler, dodge, and jeep brand exhibit this problem and that lacking significant moving parts, one cannot justify a fuel tank component failure after 35,000 miles, this issue is unquestionable a design failure. given the immediate hazard of fire, long term health risks, and environmental impact of repeated events of fuel spit back from these vehicles requires intervention. *tr

Jeep: the fuel spits back during refueling. 2007 liberty. *tr

Gas tank problem; every time i filled the tank when nuzzle stops filling it shut a line of gasoline out to the point that if you not know will wet all your clothing. *tr

Fuel overflow issue. when fueling vehicle as the tank gets full and the gas pump clicks off, fuel spews out of filler tube onto side of vehicle and the ground. this seems like a safety and environmental issue. happens every time filling up the tank. dealer wanted $813 + tax to repair/replace fuel tank. *kb

Gas tank overfills and gas spills all over the ground and vehicle. automatic shut off valve does not work or defective gas tank. *tr

Gas spurts out of my 2007 jeep liberty fuel tank at every gas station when the tank is almost full. this is not due to human error, the gas pumps do not stop fast enough even when holding it in correctly. this appears to be a faulty gas neck or gas tank part for the 2007 jeep liberty. *tr

Filling up 2007 jeep liberty sport - jeep overfills with normal pump usage spewing gasoline out of the vehicle and onto the ground. this happens with every fill. *tr

Every time i fill my tank the pump will stop and about a half gallon of gas comes gushing out of the tank spilling on me, the car and the ground. i am not topping off. the pump stops and what seems to be extra gas literally explodes out of the tank.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep liberty. the contact was entering a parking space when the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was then towed to the dealer and they advised him that the fuel pump had failed and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired for the fuel pump. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered a reimbursement. in addition, the contact stated that when driving at low speeds and attempting a turn, the steering would become hard to maneuver. the vehicle was later inspected by a dealer and they advised her that the rack and pinion and the power steering pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired for the pump alone. the failure mileage was approximately 38,000. updated 06/16/11 *bf updated 2/03/2012 *ln *tr

Gas spurts out after filling gas tank. *tr

Fuel overflows out of filler tube on 2007 jeep liberty each time i fill it up. pumping fuel at a low rate doesn't solve problem. this occurs when attempting to fill the tank normally (not attempting to top of the tank after gas station pump shuts off) fuel overflow occurs at different pumps, so it is not unique to a particular gas station or pump. this appears to be a common issue on jeep liberties and also other dodge, chrysler vehicles. *tr

2007 jeep liberty - every time i fill up with gas once the tank is full, the pump will auto shut-off and the jeep will backflow 2-3 cups of gas back out. this has got to be a safety issue. *tr
