Random events of the electronic throttle control lamp flashing and the traction control lamp illuminating. the vehicle would stall to a rough idle or loss of power and an inability to accelerate. on occasion the vehicle would die and would not restart. this occurred while driving at speeds of 65 mph in heavy traffic on hot spring days. the manufacture has not been able to correct the problem after five attempts. *tr
Left rear window failure up or down; driver's side window still works but catches. it appears that someone didn't do their job in quality control in making the equipment that regulates the windows. which makes one wonder if there aren't other parts not up to standard. chrysler needs to replace at their cost. *tr
I bought my liberty when it was a year old from a dealer. one month later, the drivers side window fell into the door. it was still under warranty, the dealer fixed it with new parts. a year ago in june 2012 the rear window dropped into the door. the rear windows are never even used. i had to pay a mechanic to raise it up and hold it up with duck tape because the regulator and repair is going to cost over $400.00!!the window would slowly start to drop before it finally went into the door completely when i was driving and the noise from the outside was so loud i thought i was having a flat tire and had to pull over. not to mention the constant attention i had to pay to make sure the window was still being held up with the awful looking duct tape! so angry and disappointed with chrysler. i read online of so many other owners having this same problem. i could never risk putting a child back there because of this risky problem. We have a new 2007 jeep liberty limited, purchased last march. immediately we noticed that the speedometer was inaccurate and always reading fast. this was noticeably evident as we passed through safety and school zones that show the car speed on the roadside. i had the dealer check it out and they couldn't find any problems. so we started measuring using roadside mileage markers and a timer. we found that at 60 miles/hour it took 315 seconds to go 5 miles. that's 5% @ 60 mph or 3 mph. we also found that it was also off by 3 mph at all other speeds too, so at 30 mph that turned out to be 10%. that's unacceptable ! however chrysler says that's acceptable and in fact points out in a printed reply that the government allows that degree of accuracy now assuming my average speed is about 45 mph, 3 mph is a 7.5% inaccuracy. i also purchased a long term warranty agreement from chrysler and i will be short changed on that by 7.5% also and that's fraud! all i want is for the chrysler to fix the algorithm that computes the speed and odometer reading. the only variable the dealer can adjust is the tire size. does the government safety standards allow for 7.5% inaccuracy? *tr
My jeep liberty jerks between 35-55 mph and 1400-1500 rpms. this has caused the car to slip and slid on icy roads. i first noticed it with only 200 miles on the car. it has been into the shop 7 times for this problem. they have reprogrammed the computer, replaced the fuel pump and the problem is still there. chrylser said this is normal. i have another jeep and it does not do this. this is becoming a dangerous problem with the icy conditions where i live. *tr
At 3000 miles from new it became difficult to remove the key even though the vehicle was in park. sometimes the driver had to restart the vehicle several times and move the gearshift into park multiple times before the key could be removed. after this occurred many times the vehicle was returned to the dealer for repair. unknown parts were replaced and the problem was fixed. now at 7000 miles from new the problem has reoccurred. from reading blogs on the web this is a longstanding problem that the manufacturer is unable or unwilling to correct permanently! the necessity to carry on with one's day means that the key will be left in the ignition with the car unattended with all the safety implications that implies; theft, children, etc.
I purchased a new 2007 jeep liberty and the vehicle did not come from the factory with a trailer hitch or wiring harness. on june 14, i had the dealer install the chrysler recommended harness. the harness they installed is the one chrysler supplies and requires for vehicles with an overhead console, which my vehicle is equipped with. it is a seven-way harness, specified as mopar part number 82207248. after the harness was installed by the dealer, i noticed that the running lights on my trailer were not working. i took it to a dealer who tried several times to fix it, but was unsuccessful, even with advice given by the chrysler technical hotline. when i called chrysler's hotline to see if it was possible to fix, they told me they provided the dealer with the information to correct the problem and that it was not their problem, but the dealer's. they suggested i take it to another dealer. in light of the fact that two chrysler dealers were unable to solve this problem already, suggesting that i go to yet another dealer was very poor advice. the service i received from both dealers was excellent, however, the chrysler hotline personnel were very rude to me, had no concern in regard to correcting the problem, and placed blame on the dealers. the problem is that this harness will not work as required for the 2007 jeep liberty. although the brake lights and turn signals work, the running lights on the trailer do not. i request that all 2007 liberties that have the dealer installed trailer package with the mopar harness number 82207248 be recalled and fixed. this problem is a serious safety issue and one for which chrysler needs to find a fix, rather than continuing to place blame on the dealers. *tr
