On wednesday, september 5, 2007, at approximately 8:30pm both my husband and i got in our 2006 jeep liberty with only 9,188 miles to drive home. upon turning on the vehicle we turned up the air conditioner and heard a grinding sound. unsure of what the noise was, my husband turned down the air for a moment. as he turned the air back up the blower fan fell out of the dashboard and into the foot area of the passenger front seat where i was sitting. the blower fan was still turning as it made contact with my feet because it did not detach from the electrical wiring. the blower fan continued running until my husband shut off the vehicle. due to the fact that i was wearing sandals when the blower fan fell out of the dashboard my toes were severely lacerated and suffered abrasions. these injuries required me to seek medical attention. due to this injury i have had to miss work, as it is not possible for me to wear shoes, stand for any length of time, or sit without elevating my feet. this incident along with other multiple faulty window components, all of which are warranty items, cause us concern. particularly since the blower fan was a recalled part and had recently been replaced. we no longer feel that this vehicle is safe to operate and have contacted chrysler headquarters customer service call center for assistance and are awaiting an inspection. *tr

On 2006 jeep liberty renegade activates for no apparent reason, causing vehicle to lose power/choke out/stumble on acceleration. problem occurred intermittently up to 3 or 4 times a week. tended to happen often when going around corners in 1st or 2nd gear, and sometimes when just going straight. sometimes the light will flash while the loss of power occured, but sometimes not.. when this occurred pavement was dry and there were no abrupt manuevers no reason for this system to activate. this was a serious safety issue that could cause an accident. purchased vehicle new from dealer in november '06. dealer acknowledged problem in march '07 , claiming they were waiting for a software update from chrysler. in june '07 i returned to the dealer and addressed the problem again, and i was told that there were no tsbs, no codes, and they could not duplicate the problem . they did not acknowledge"the problem this time. they acknowledged it in writing on my service receipt in march). even on the way home from the dealer today it happened again when i exited an off ramp from the highway. *ak

My liberty has 3 recalls, 2 having do with big safety issues- fire and tires detaching. i first called planet dodge (miami, fl) for service appt.; gave vin and advised of recalls- surprise! when i arrived for my appointment; they said the parts were on back order! today i called tamiami jeep to make an appointment and was told 1) it's very dangerous as tires may detach 2) they have some parts, but not some bolt, if that is required! question- if these are mandatory recalls and on such potentially safety compromising parts- how can the parts be on back order for 3 months!! (this will be my first visit to tamiami for service appt-but was already advised not all parts available- what's the use of making a appointment if they is a nationwide of a part to repair a recall? what happens if my tires detach or my car has "underbody fire" as per my most recent notice? i would appreciate a reply via email and i would like somebody to investigate how service departments can run out of parts that have mandatory recalls. i was not told at planet dodge how serious this was and have been driving around waiting for the parts to arrive.(lower ball joint). *nm
While driving 2006 jeep liberty limited esp/bas light came on and also charging system warning light. took to dealership they said powertrain control module needs update reprogram, also was a recal to program bcm. got jeep back next day, light came back on plus the malfunction indicator light, took back to dealership they had for 2 days called and said they could not find a problem with it. said it was due to the way i drive and use the brake pedal. problem not fixed. jeep has 10000 miles on it now. when it only had 1750 miles all the panel lights came on and the vechicle shut down, had to be towed to dealership. they had to replace cluster, bcm and pcm per star line, repair short in radio wiring harness, also repair burn in 02 sensor wiring harness, reroute harness. and now they say there is nothing wrong with it, to pick it up in the morning. *nm
I have a 2003 jeep liberty sport and i was recently driving it when the entire system completely shut down. i was able to pull over to the side of the road. it restarted and i went a little further and it completely shut down again. i lost power to steering and was fortunately able to guide it off the main highway without any power. it would not continue running after that. it would start but then shut down right off. i ended up having it towed to a jeep dealership where i found out two sensors in the computer had gone bad. i had to pay to have the sensors replaced in addition to the tow. i am concerned about what would have happened if i had been on an interstate going at a high rate of speed and those sensors would have gone bad causing me to lose power in traffic. i wonder if some fatalities and injuries have resulted from this situation with other vehicles. i think its a very dangerous situation and jeep should be investigated to see if they are using defective sensors in the jeep liberty. i only have 65 thousand miles on this vehicle and i am concerned about taking it on any lengthy trips. i feel its a danger on the highways with these sensors. *nm
